Today is also Ryan's 6th week birthday and he was the one giving out gifts today. His first gift was handed out at around 3 this morning when he allowed me the pleasure of being up with him and feeding him. His second gift was shelled out at around 7 when his dad got to change his diaper and I again got to feed him. I received his third gift at 9 when he let me watch him play on his play mat. But the best gift of the day was when he smile and giggled at us on purpose. Tyler was singing a silly song to him and he was just smiling away and laughing. We have it on our camera but since our internet isn't working great we haven't been able to send it to anyone yet. If you thought he was cute when he just did nothing then you are in for a world of surprise because guess what? He is even so much cuter when he smiles and laughs at you.
Tyler slept in until around 11 and then he joined me in the living room for the day. We didn't have much planned for the day. I was in the process of making a menu and grocery list when Tyler came out to help me with Ryan. Ryan and Tyler laid on the ground and batted at some toys while I tried my hardest to come up with things to eat this week. It's tough to look through the same recipe books and find new things that interest us. We did manage to put together some thing that was good enough so we got ready to go to the store. We had been given a baby backpack carrier thing so we put Ryan in that and I carried him to the store. He slept the whole time and we gathered our food items and came home again.
We put Ryan in his crib and we enjoyed some time to ourselves. As a side note, last night we went over to our friends house and they gave us their crib so now Ryan has a real place to sleep. During the night, we found he is able to kick and squirm enough to move himself sideways. What a sweetie pie.
Our afternoon wasn't anything special. It was spent trying to get Ryan to smile and laugh again, trying to get Ryan to stop crying, trying to get Ryan to sleep. I also spent some time cross stitching while Tyler played on the computer. I took a nap at some point also which was awesome.
I kind of forgot to plan a meal for tonights dinner so we have been snacking all evening. I have a feeling I'm going to be hungry in the middle of the night and I don't like that.
We just finished giving Ryan a bath which had lavender bath soap in it which is apparently supposed to calm and soothe. The problem with that is that sure, the bath might be calming and soothing but as soon as you take him out, dry and dress him, he is all worked up again. It doesn't make much sense.
We are currently trying to watch a movie but it's been interrupted a few times for Ryan. He is sleeping now in Tyler's arms. I really hope he sleeps well again tonight. I have been reading a book while I nurse him in the middle of the night but I finished it this afternoon so I'm not sure what I'll be up to tonight. I'll probably work on a cross stitch.
