Countdown T-25

Well it is 25 more days until we leave here for Christmas and for baby.  Sonja woke up really early this morning.  It was around 5:30.  She said it was because it was too dark.  Normally we have a light that shines in through our blinds from the side of the building but with the power out there was nothing coming in last night.  When my alarm went off, the power was still not back on.  So we both ate cereal in the dark and were cold, just trying to keep warm.  I even went into work a little bit early, just to warm myself up a bit.

With the power being off, it means that the hospital is running on a generator.  However it doesn't produce enough juice to power the xray machine so I was anticipating a really slow day.  I was only partially right as the power came back on around 9, meaning I could have been busy.  But it wasn't.  I didn't even turn the xray machine on at all today.  It was a little bit busier on the lab side of things, but not much.  The hospital is going through an accreditation next week, which means everybody is kind of in panic mode trying to get things done.  We also had a few patients coming in throughout the day.  It was also sorta busy in the lab as my boss is leaving again tomorrow, so she was trying to get all her stuff done before she left.  I will probably have a whole ton of post it notes all over the lab of things to do next week, which will be anticipated to last the whole week, but I will probably have done by Tuesday.

I was able to come home to a warm house at 5, but no sooner than I sat done with Sonja, than the phone rang.  I had to go back to work already.  Why the nurses didn't stop me before I left, I don't know.  They needed blood work on a patient who was being shipped out tonight, before he left.  I was done in no time and was back at home and ready to eat.

Even though Sonja had a whole menu planned out for the week, she didn't know what she wanted to cook for tonight.  So instead of a real meal, she ate crackers, cream cheese and bacon.  I scrounged up a burger and cooked that to eat.  It was tasty and temporarily hit the spot.  I am getting a little bit hungry again.

After I ate I had a shower as I didn't get one this morning.  It was a nice way to end the day.  We don't have any plans for the rest of the night.  I will be going to be looking for something else to eat.  Maybe something that takes a lot of dishes so Sonja can wash some more ;)
