17 Weeks!

Today, little Baby J turned 17 weeks old and it's getting more and more exciting as the weeks go by.  At yesterday's doctor appointment, I was amazed at what we saw.  I can't believe that there is really a little human inside of my belly right now.  It's been hard to truly believe it because it's not like I had any morning sickness or anything else.  But, it's nice that I'm starting to feel like this person move around because it convinces me that whoever is in there, is still doing great.

Today was a quick day.  I was asked to guard from 8 till 4.  I spent the day watching tv and cross stitching, and babysitting some criminal.  It was pretty dull and the day went by pretty quickly because I wasn't just sitting around at home.

Once I got home, Tyler followed shortly and we started packing for our big trip.  I'm so excited.  I can't believe it's already tomorrow that we get to see family.  So excited :)

We had a friend come over to watch a show she was interested in but then she left, and now we are getting ready for bed.  Tomorrow is going to be pretty busy with trying to finalize everything, including a quick trip to the store for some toilet paper.

Enjoy the evening and wish us happy travels.

Today is my last day on call for 2 weeks.  I woke up and went off to work.  It was a kinda slow day.  I did some shredding of boxes of stuff that should have been shredded 15+ years ago.  So thats kind of how the morning went.  There was one burst where it was busy before lunch.  I was then able to come home and eat.  I had some chicken burgers because there isn't much in the house since we are leaving on Wednesday.

After lunch I went into work and did a little bit of work.  Sonja had a Dr.'s appointment at 2.  So when 2 came around she went in for the appointment.  A few minutes later I was called in to join her and so I did.  I went and was shown our little baby on the doctors ultrasound machine.  It was so cute and tiny.  While we were watching it flashed us a little fist pump, stretched out and moved around a lot.  It's little heartbeat was going pretty quickly also.  It was the coolest part of the day.  It was nice to see it today, since I won't be able to see it when Sonja has her next ultrasound on the 12th, as I will be on a plane back here.

After seeing our baby it was a pretty slow remainder of the day.  It seemed to kind of drag on, but eventually the day was done and I came home to Sonja and for supper.  So we had chicken wraps, trying to clean out the fridge before we leave so pickings were kind of slim.

After supper we watched a bit of TV and one of our nurse friends had a fish that needed to be cleaned.  We went up to her place and showed her how to do one side and then she tried the other one herself.  She did pretty good for a first attempt.

We are now home again and just about to enjoy some really tasty popcorn.  Then to bed for one more day of work.

Sunday, August 28th

I had a bad sleep last night.  Mainly because I slept all day yesterday and therefore I couldn't really get to sleep last night.  I tried not to toss and turn because I know Tyler deserves lots of sleep after working really hard on his school work.  I did eventually fall asleep, and was awake again after 10ish.

When I got out of bed, Tyler was just getting home from work.  We went grocery shopping pretty much right away because we had no food.  We thought the store would be closed yesterday with the power being off so we didn't go shopping yesterday and ended the day with an empty fridge and empty stomachs this morning.  So, off to the store with our very short list.  We had 4 things on our list so we were home very soon after we left.

We ate some breakfast and started the day the way Tyler wanted.  Tyler played a game that he is addicted to on the computer and I cross stitched.  I also read part of my book while Tyler took a nap.  For dinner, Tyler made what was supposed to be soup but it came out more of a stew slop kind of thing. It was really good, but definitely not soup.

I had plans to go to Shearwater with some friends but unfortunately since Tyler is on call, he couldn't join us.

I went over there and had a really good time.  Lots of laughs but I came home at 10 to spend some time with Tyler.  I am now home and just unwinding for the night.  I'm pretty tired and have been most of the day so I'm looking forward to getting into bed.

Just a few more days until we get to come home again.  This time, I'm not as antsy to get home.  I mean, I'm obviously looking forward to it but unlike last time, I saw my family just a few weeks ago.  The last time we were coming home, it was 6 months since seeing any one.

Can't wait!!

Relax

Last night I wrote my physics final and we went for a walk.  We went to bed only to be awoken by my cell phone ringing at 12:30.  It turned out to be the RCMP and they needed a guard.  She tried to get out of going in, but wasn't so lucky.  So she went in, leaving the bed all to myself.  Unfortunately with that, the cat had me confused for Sonja and was spending the night tormenting me, trying to sleep on me and such.  Of course I don't put up with that kind of stuff like Sonja does.

I was able to sleep in until 9, only to find that the power was for their scheduled maintenance and upgrades to the system.  It was supposed to be off until 6.  So I was in for a slow day and relaxing day.  Sonja still wasn't home yet and I needed to go into work.  So I went to the hospital so I could come back home.  When I got back Sonja was home and in bed.  She was still awake and we talked for a bit before she went to sleep.  So the day was pretty boring for me, nothing to study for, nothing to watch, couldn't play Wii, and the weather wasn't nice enough to be outside.

So I sat on the couch and listened to my iPod and read magazines all day waiting for the power to come back on.  It was all pretty boring.  Eventually I took a nap on the couch and was woken up by the power coming back on around 5:30.  I started to make supper because I was starving.  Sonja found her way out of bed and joined me for supper.

At 7 our friend Kendra came over for a round of cards.  I lost, after I was winning for most of it.  After cards we finished watching Night at the Museum that we started last night.  The rest of the evening has been pretty relaxing.  Ready for another day to relax and not have to worry about school work.

Oh baby baby

I was really disappointed yesterday.  I got a text from Tyler saying that my doctor appointment was cancelled because the doctor was sick.  It was so sad to me because I was going to get to hear this little baby's heartbeat for the first time, and now I have to wait.  I've been waiting for a month now for that appointment and now I have to wait just a few more days.  My new appointment date is Monday and I can't wait.

But as far as today goes, it was a pretty decent day.  I woke up early to go to the bathroom and as I looked outside, I was blinded by how bright it was outside.  It was around 5ish, I think, and so so foggy outside that it made the sun shine all the brighter.  It was, like I said, blinding.  So I headed back to bed.

Tyler got up and left for work and I stayed in bed.  Once out of bed, I ate some breakfast and watched a bit of tv while doing my morning internet surfing.

I did the dishes and soon Tyler was home for lunch.  We enjoyed some leftover pizza which is as good as if having it fresh from the oven.  We enjoyed some time together before Tyler had to head back to work.  He had been studying lots at work today because it was fairly slow for him.

I went for a walk around town to enjoy the awesome weather we had today.  I came back home once I got too hot.  There were many people outside today and I always love watching all the dogs laying in their yards.

I did a bit of cross stitching and also read part of a book I started.  Tyler came home a little late today and got ready for to write his final.  He ate some supper and headed right back to the hospital to finish up his physics course.  I know he did really awesome.  He feels like he passed so that's good enough.

Once he got home again, we headed out for a walk to enjoy the remaining part of the day.  It made me tired.  So now, we are eating a celebratory bowl of popcorn while watching a movie of Tyler's choice.  I figured he gets to decide what we do tonight because he has worked so hard the last 2 weeks.

Our power is scheduled to go out tomorrow at 8 and it's supposed to be off until 6pm tomorrow night.  It may come on sooner but who knows.  They are inspecting the under water cables and for some reason decided that a Saturday would be the best day to do so.  I guess it makes sense because less business will be disrupted but it's not like there is a lot of business out here any ways.  All that being said, I'm not sure the internet will work tomorrow or until Monday.  So maybe don't expect a blog but there may be one.

Enjoy the weekend.  I know we will!
Sonja

I felt baby move a tiny little bit today.  It was super cool.

Thursday, August 25, 2011

I had a somewhat decent sleep last night and I woke up with the alarm and got ready for work.  I wasn't as tired as the day before, but still would rather have been sleeping.  I went into work and started the slow day.  It was slow most of the day, but the morning was completely dead.  I was able to start my studying before lunch and had lots more done than I was expecting to by lunch.  I came home for lunch and finished up the spaghetti from earlier in the week.  It was still good being a couple days old.

I went back to work and was able to study for another hour before things picked up.  It was busy after 2:30 until 4 or so and then the count down was on until it was time to go home.  After the rush it was slow, so I just waited and closed down the lab before coming home at 5.  I came home to find Sonja making pizza, putting the finishing touches on before it went into the oven.

Supper was really good again.  I am glad Sonja is the ultimate pizza cooker, because it is always so tasty.  After supper I had to study again.  It was my last night of studying as I am writing my final tomorrow night at 6.  Hopefully all this studying hasn't been in vein and it goes pretty good for me.

After I was done studying for the night we went for a walk around town.  It was still nice out.  It was sunny the whole day, so it was nice to catch the tail end of the clear day.  Tomorrow it is supposed to be nice again so we'll see.  Hopefully when I am done my test it will still be nice out.

Happy Birthday Oma

I just wanted to mention that yesterday was my Oma's birthday.  And I forgot to mention it yesterday, so it gets it's own special little blog.

I love my Oma so very much and I hate that we don't live closer.  I can't wait till we are home again so I can go visit.

Love you Oma!

16 weeks!!

Yesterday, Baby Jarrett turned 16 weeks.  Baby J is approximately 4.3 to 4.6 inches long and weights 2.8 ounces.  I read it is the size of an avocado.  Baby j can grasp, kick and summersault.  I have felt some tiny movements right below my belly button and I'm convinced it's this little tyke.  It's pretty exciting to feel that, if it is in fact our baby.

Last night was a tough night.  Tyler got called into work twice, once at 10:30 and then again at 4.  Not that it really affects me because I can sleep through the morning, but I felt sorry for Tyler.  He had to get up at 8 today to be in at work by 9.  I didn't hear the alarm at all and was surprised when Tyler came to give me his goodbye kiss before heading off to work.

After I got out of bed, I ate some breakfast.  I did a bit of internet surfing, did the dishes and soon enough Tyler came home for lunch.  It was a gorgeous day and I was looking forward to going for a walk finally.  It's been so miserable here weather-wise that I've been feeling really cooped up, so it was awesome to finally get out of the house.

I went for a walk and then paid the internet bill.  Since it was so nice, there were many people outside so that was good to see.

At about 3, I got a call from the RCMP and they needed a guard.  I was told that it could be until midnight or earlier, it depended on a meeting they were having with the prisoner.  I was excited to come home early because that's better then spending a whole evening babysitting someone who doesn't know how to follow their probation conditions.  I was lucky to come home at 8.  Tyler had just finished studying so now we are enjoying our time together.

We are eating dinner.  Tyler is chowing down popcorn and I've got a small plate of nachos.  I've been looking forward to it pretty much all afternoon.

Also, the power went out for no reason today.  It's pretty strange to live in a place where the power can go off even on the nicest day of the month.  That made guarding a little more difficult too, as the cell block was pitch black and the cameras didn't work, and our generator didn't power up right away.  The power came back on about an hour later and everything was fine again.

I'm home now and it's great.

T-7 Days

Next Tuesday is my last day of work until my 14 days off.  But first I have to get through this week and particularly Saturday.  I am writing my physics final on Saturday at 4.  So it has been a study fest the week and will continue until Saturday.  I will then have some time away from the books.  Until the 12th.

Today was a slow day in the lab.  I was able to do a lot of studying as well as make work projects to pass the time.  The day went by pretty quickly for being kinda slow.

I came home and helped Sonja with supper, by peeling potatoes for her, while she prepped the chicken.  We had her favorite meal with gravy this time.  It was really really good.  After supper I went to do some more studying to finish up my goal for the day.  By six I was done and rejoined Sonja in the living room.

We are now just relaxing and watching TV.

Tired day!

Sorry about the no blog last night.  I honestly tried my hardest to get the internet to work.  I got mad at it, I yelled a little and I nicely asked it to work, but nothing would work.  The internet was just being stupid so, there you have it.

Our day yesterday was pretty good.  Tyler got up before me and studied for a few hours.  Once he was done his homework, we did the dishes and cleaned the house a bit.  We had just settled down to enjoy some time together, when my phone rang.  I hate it when my phone rings.  It almost always means I have to go in to work.  So I answered it because Tyler says I'm not allowed to ignore it.  Sure enough, some stupid person in this town decided to get drunk and caught at 2 in the afternoon.  I packed up my entertainment for the day and headed out to work.  And I worked for about 6 hours.  I was really looking forward to coming home again.  I was hungry from not eating a real supper and I missed Tyler.  With him studying all day Saturday and then most of the morning on Sunday, I feel as if I hardly got to see him this weekend and that makes me sad.  The weekend is meant to be spent with the one you love and I didn't get to.  Oh well.  I came home and had the most unhealthy, most tasty dinner I could have had - I had nachos with salsa.  I've been thinking about that little treat for a while so it was nice to get it out of the way.  We went to bed fairly early.

I had another odd dream last night - this one was about a plane that crashed in my backyard, but I didn't know the address.  Other strange things happened but I wont bore you with that.  No one likes to hear about other people's dreams.

I woke up and got out of bed to enjoy my breakfast.  I was pretty tired this morning and that lasted all day long.  And it was pouring rain all day so I didn't get to take my usual walk.  Tyler came home for lunch and we had a good time together.  I started making meatballs for dinner while he played a game on his phone.  We were having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and I was excited to get to make it all from scratch.  We had the deer meat thawing in the fridge over night, and I combined all the ingredients and put it all in the fridge.

I looked outside and saw that it wasn't raining at that moment.  I decided that I would do the few dishes and head to the store for a few food items we didn't get over the weekend.  But, as soon as I was done the dishes, it was pouring again.  I waited a few more minutes and it let up again, so I raced to the store.  On my way home again, it started to come down again.

I cross stitched and then, at the right time, I started assembling the meat into meatballs and cooking all the bits that went into the sauce.  Tyler came home on time and we enjoyed a very tasty meal together.  It was so good, better then I thought it was going to be.

After supper, Tyler studied and I cross stitched.  At around 7, we went over to a co-workers house for a welcome to the community dinner.  A new nurse is here so there was a party for him.  It was a fun time.  We got to hang out with people and eat some good food.

We are now home and about to head to bed.  I've been sleepy all day.

Study, fish, fire

Today was the first weekend that I wasn't on call in a super long time.  Unfortunately its been to long that I wasn't able to sleep in.  That and the looming test I have to study for.  So I got out of bed and started studying.  It was a very boring morning.  I studied until Sonja woke up and then studied some more.  We had plans to this afternoon, since it was nice out, so I was on a deadline.  I studied until 12 or so and then found some food to eat.

We had planned on going out kayaking this afternoon since it was supposed to be nice out.  So we left with my fishing gear and a kayak.  It was around twenty, but cloudy so it didn't look that warm out.  So we went and fished.  I got a bite right away, but the tension was way to loose and while I was trying to tighten it, I lost my fish.  It was the most action we got the whole afternoon.  We kept fishing there for a while yet. The weather was changing, and the wind picked up and rain was in the forecast, so we decided to come back.  We were back by 3:30 and watched some TV for the rest of the afternoon.

By 7 o'clock it was our friend Kendra's 40th birthday celebration with a fire on the beach.  Unfortunately it was pouring.  We still went and stood around the fire in the rain, and Sonja had a few smores and made me one as well.  We were out there for a couple hours and came back to dry off.  A different friend is coming over and we are going to introduce her to Arrested Development.

It's been a good day, but unfortunately I have another day of studying ahead of me tomorrow.

Friday

Last night, Tyler was falling asleep on the couch by 8pm.  It was a little sad but I guess he worked hard all day, so I told him to go to bed.  There isn't any shame in going to bed at 8:30pm on a Thursday night when you are exhausted.  I, on the other hand, was still enjoying some of the sunlight and didn't want to follow in his steps.  I wasn't doing anything special but I knew I wouldn't be able to just fall asleep.  I went to bed at 10 and still had a hard time actually getting to sleep.

I woke up and enjoyed a bit of the late morning before Tyler came home.  We had some leftover pizza for lunch and it was pretty tasty even the second time around.  We talked and laughed and soon it was time for Tyler to head back to work.

One of the best things about going out for dinner is that lack of dishes that stares at me when I enter the kitchen.  There was only about 5 cups and 4 plates and a few utensils to do.  It amazes me that we go through so many cups, but with Kitty out of her cone, she can now reach her little paws into any glass so we don't take chances.  If you forget your cup on the table over night, it's your own fault.  So, I did the dishes and got right to my cross stitching.  I'm working really hard to get it done but it's not going so fast.    I know I have mentioned in previous blogs that I got a good chunk done , but a good chunk kind of means one small little part of it.  It's kind of a tough little project and I can't wait to get it done.

Once Tyler came home, I started on dinner - we had chicken pitas and they were pretty good.  Not the best because I forgot to get a few ingredients so they were pretty bland.  We went for a walk around town and now we are home.

The rest of the night will be spent eating popcorn and just doing nothing.

I am still trying to recover from my 3 weeks on cal.  I am still really tired.  I woke up and drug myself out of bed and into the shower.  It was looking like it would have been a long day.  I went into work and was busy for most of the morning.  It felt good because that meant that the day was almost half over.

I came home at 11:30 and had lunch with Sonja.  I had a couple bacon chicken burgers with swiss cheese.  It was super good.  I went back to work and finished up my day.  It continued to go relatively quickly which was nice.  I snuck out of work a few minutes early and we went over to Shearwater for supper.  First though we stopped at the hardware store.  I was going to replace the hooks that I lost the other day.  Unfortunately they were all sold out of the ones I was missing.  So I guess it was the right hook to be using.  It most work because it is so popular.

We then went out for supper.  I ate too much and Sonja only ate a bit.  I had a double cheeseburger, fries and chicken wings.  Sonja ordered a pizza, so this way we have leftovers for lunch the next couple days.  We got back into Bella Bella at 7 and have been relaxing and digesting.  I am thinking about going to bed shortly, to try to recover.

Wednesday

I woke up this morning to the sound of rain and I was a little disappointed.  I hate it when it rains.  It even more limits the things I can do through a day.

But I got out of bed and enjoyed some breakfast.  By the time I did roll out of bed, the rain had slowed a little so that was promising.  Tyler came home from work and we spent some time together, laughing and eating good food.

Once he left back for work, I got out my cross stitching and worked on that pretty much all afternoon.  I've decided that when we are back home, I'm going to get some books to read.  I miss reading and with all this time on my hands, why not get some books to fill my time with.

I had to go to the store for one ingredient on our list that I couldn't find before.  I went in the rain and finally found it.  I was really craving some sort of junk food, like gobstoppers or any kind of gummy candy but I managed to get out of there without the junk food.

I got back home, changed out of my wet socks and pants and started on my cross stitching again.  I waited until Tyler came home to start dinner.  He's home at 4:12 this week and today's meal doesn't take that long to make.  So, once he got home, I sent him into the Kitty's room to study while I prepared din din.  He wasn't to happy about having to go in there because he hates studying, but his test is in a week and a half so it's pretty important that he does.  And he did.  And dinner was so good.  I believe it's my most favorite meal ever.  It's chicken cooked in bread crumbs, parmesan cheese with mashed potatoes.  It is just the most tasty meal ever and I love it more the classy chicken.  Tyler was shocked when he heard me say that but it's true.

Tyler had to go to the airport for work so he was gone for about 15 minutes.  And he is also pretty tired so we have been just sitting around, cross stitching and going on the interweb.  Uneventful for sure.

Yesterday I was 15 weeks pregnant.  I read that our baby is now the size of a softball and that now people will actually be able to tell I'm pregnant.  And that's so true.  I was looking through the pictures I've been putting on facebook and from last week to this week, it's like I kind of just popped out.  It's not so big but now it's there.  Apparently if I were to have an ultrasound I might be able to see little baby sucking it's thumb.  Pretty cute.

Off

Last night I was finally done being on call.  It felt great.  I went out kayaking with my fishing rod.  It was tiring getting out there because I was fighting the tide all the way to the ferry terminal.  So I got there and was pretty tired already.  I went to where the fish were jumping and started casting.  I had a few nibbles and eventually got a bite.  So I started reeling.  I got him just about to the kayak and it jumped out and splashed, soaking me.  So I kept fighting to get it to the boat.  I got it to the kayak and realized that my rod was to long.  I brought out my 9' rod and is kinda to long when you are sitting and only have a 6' arm span.  So I sat a while trying to figure out how to get this guy into the boat with me.  Just as I was grabbing the line it did a little flip and was gone.  If only I had a net.  It was kinda small, probably not of legal size, so he would have been going back anyway, it just saved me a step.

I came back and It took a lot less energy to come back as the tide was still going out, and I just needed to glide along with it.  I came home and had a quick shower to de-salt myself, then joined Sonja.

Today was a much different day then yesterday.  It was just a normal day, but good in comparison to the chaos that was yesterday it was a welcome relief.

Again though I came home at 4 and started supper.  We had bacon chicken burgers.  It was a really filling meal.  I am still feeling full.  After supper we watched Master Chef.

Tired today so it will probably be early to bed for me anyway.

Monday, August 15th, 2011

Another day that I slept through most of the morning, getting out of bed at exactly 10:45 feeling well rested and ready for the day.

And the day was pretty dull.  It wasn't sunny at all and it even spit for a while.  It was cloudy and gloomy and not super nice outside so I didn't spend a lot of time out there.

I ate some breakfast and waited for Tyler to come home for lunch at 11:30.  He did and we enjoyed some time together.  After the weekend we had, where Tyler had to study the whole time and we barely had any time together, it was nice to spend some time together.

He left and I was alone again.  I spent the afternoon cross stitching, going to the store to buy some last minute groceries, doing the dishes and dancing to some music.  It seems eventful when I have it all listed like that, but it was a slow afternoon and I managed to get all the stuff done within an hourish, with the exception of the cross stitching.  I did that all afternoon and once again got a good chunk of this project done.  It's looking pretty good too.

Tyler came home and let out a huge sigh of relief.  He is finally off call and I'm sure it feels pretty good.  It's awesome for me too.  Now I get a guarantee that I wont be eating dinner alone.  It's a nice feeling.

Right after we finished a dinner of chicken and rice, Tyler went out fishing.  He brought out a kayak and went out to Old Town.  He always gets so excited when he sees a fish jumping outside and now he got to go out and try to catch one.  He came back at 8 without a fish and is now enjoying some chocolate cake.  His arms are pretty sore from all the rowing so he is pretty tired.

And soon it's off to bed to enjoy a night of sleep.

Last day on call

This morning I wasn't able to sleep in very much.  The cat was being irritating most of the morning.  I wasn't able sleep for more than a half hour at a time this morning.  Eventually she started heaving and threw up a bit.  That was enough for me and I got out of bed to clean her up.  That was at 9 o'clock.  It's been kind of a long day.

It was nice that I didn't need to study.  I have two weeks until I am done physics.  So today was a nice and relaxing day.  During the day we went to the store, did dishes and just relaxed.  It was pretty good.

It rained the whole day.  Tiny breaks of sun, but mostly rain.  We were supposed to have people over for cards tonight, but just as we were getting ready I was called into work.  I was busy there and was there for an hour and a half.  I've had so many easy callbacks lately, that actually having to work for my calls.  I came home and found our guests just leaving.  I guess they were just scared of the thrashing that I was going to lay down.  I was in a winning mood.  We had made a cake for them, but Sonja forgot about it, so I busted it out and had a couple pieces.

This is my last night of being on call.  It will be nice come 8 tomorrow morning.  It has been a long haul.  3 weeks of no fun being on call.  Maybe we will go out for supper in Shearwater since I can now go.

Boring day for me!

Well, today wasn't a day that I was meant to enjoy.

First of all, I didn't get a good sleep.  Kitten was up pretty much all night, scratching on the bed and walking all over me.  I don't really mind it most of the time but after a while and after I don't get back to sleep right away, it's just a pain.  And I was mostly tired all day because of that.

Tyler got out of bed before me because he was off to work.  I stayed in bed until he got back home but I didn't sleep.  Tyler was soon home again and I was out of bed.

And then Tyler hunkered down in Kitten's room with his books and started studying.  And that is where he stayed all day long.  So I had to come up with something to do all day, by myself.  And I took the lame way out.  I started season 4 of Dexter and I cross stitched.  Yup, that is why I wasn't meant to enjoy this day.  I didn't do anything and it makes me a little sad but what could I do.  Oh yeah, also, it was raining, pouring actually.  All day long it just rained and rained.  And all day long I just cross stitched.  I did make good progress on my project which is really good because I'm trying to get it done as soon as I can.  And I stopped working on it for about 2 months so it's good to get a good chunk done.

Tyler did come up for air a few times for food and bathroom breaks so I did get to see him a few times.  Kitten kept me occupied for a good part of the day too.  She is coneless and is running all over the place.  She also likes to eat Ritz cheese crackers and wont leave me alone when I'm eating them.  What a brat.

Tyler finally surfaced to take his test and then we got to enjoy the rest of the day together.  We ate some supper and went for a walk around town.  It was nice to get out of the house.

I think it's off to bed pretty soon for me.  I'm not feel super great and I think sleep will help me out there.

Rested...kinda

I woke up this morning mostly rested for once.  It wasn't such a burden to go into work in the morning.  I went into work and was busy cleaning up things from the night before.  The doctor on call needed lots of things done in the morning.  I was busy from the time I started the day until ten minutes after 12.  I had to   sneak out in order to take my lunch.  It helped that I was mostly caught up.  I came home and finished off the last of the schwarties casserole.  Thats one of the reasons why it is so good.  It lasts most of the week.  I finished off my lunch and then unfortunately it was back to work for me.

When I got back to work I discovered that the phone lines were down and therefore the internet and the rest of the network.  I could therefore not be able to do to much.  I couldn't book in x-rays or send the final x-rays to Vancouver.  So it was just time to wait around for the lines to come back.  After about an hour the network was back, but my cell phone still wasn't working.  It stayed down until after 8 o'clock.  My day winded down.  It was kinda busy right after lunch, but I was able to catch up and finish up.  I came home at 20 to 5.

After I got home Sonja started to make supper.  We had chicken and rice.  Nice and simple for a Friday night.  We cleaned up after supper.  Sonja had a shower and I took out the recycling.  The rest of the night has been spent relaxing.  Sonja has been watching season three of Dexter, so we finished up the last episode or two.

The cat also decided that tonight would be a good night to throw up on the floor.  She was heimliching herself to get it out.  So we spent some time cleaning it up.

Nothing on tap for the rest of the night.  I have to go into work in the morning, so I will try to sleep in a little bit, and then I have to study.  I have a test to write before Sunday night.  So I will try to get to that tomorrow.

Tired Thursday

Well, in my last blog posting, I had titled it No more vines and then failed to explain that.  So here we go.  2 days ago, a few people started cutting down the beautiful green vines that grow on the cement wall right outside our bedroom window.  It made us both mad because without those green vines there, all that's left is an ugly cement wall.  They even ripped out the lattice so there was no hope that it would grow back.  Tyler found out at work the next day that those plants weren't destroyed for no reason like we thought.  Apparently, they were filled with ants (That we never saw) and the hospital workers wanted to make sure no ants got into the apartments.  We thought that our neighbor complained about it in her yard and they chopped it all down because of that.  I'm glad that wasn't the case.

Today started off as many of mine do.  When Tyler's alarm went off, I didn't hear it and was surprised to find him not laying beside me when I did wake up at about 7am.  I immediately fell back asleep to be woken by Tyler's sweet kiss good bye when he left for work at 8.  And I fell right back asleep again until 10:45.  It's always 10:45.

I got out of bed and ate some breakfast.  Soon enough, Tyler was home for lunch.  The morning goes really quickly when you spend most of it sleeping.  We watched the news and soon Tyler was heading back to work and I was heading out for a walk.  I always try to go for a walk even though there are black and grizzly bears around the area.  I figure with all the little dogs walking around, I have nothing to worry about.

Once back at home, I looked up baby things on the internet.  I have a few sites I like to go to for information and I need a ton of information at this point.  There is so much to learn about the whole process so I try to read as much as I can.

Tyler was home by 4 and we were going to have pancakes for supper but with limited amount of milk we have left, it just wouldn't work.  So we heated up some fries and had mostly leftovers.  And as soon as we started eating, Tyler's work phone started ringing.  He is really getting sick of being on call.  It's been over 3 weeks now and I think he needs a break.  He actually went to bed at 8 because he is so tired.  I don't think it's all because of work but I'm sure it's a very big contributing factor.

And I'm off to bed soon too.  Kitten is just cleaning right beside me, still as cute as ever.  Now she is pretending to sleep.  I wish so badly that she didn't need to wear her cone.  I'm going to go look for something to eat because I'm really hungry and then it's off to bed.

Half done

Today marks the midpoint of the week.  Hopefully only 4 more days of being on-call.  But mostly the weekend is almost here.  I am exhausted because we keep trying to go to bed early, but I still can't get to sleep before midnight most nights.  I went into work as usual and it was pretty slow.  I came home for lunch to join Sonja and had some leftovers.

Going back to work I was a little bit busier winding down the day.  I had a person to collect from at 5 so instead of going home I stayed to get that lab work done.  I was on my way out the door, when the doctor who went to Klemtu came back with a cooler full of stuff to be done.  I didn't actually get home until twenty to six.

I found Sonja finishing up supper.  We had buffalo chicken pizza.  My favorite.  So we scarfed down some of that and then Sonja called her mom.  We were going to a doctors tonight for supper, but that was at 8 so it was a second supper for me, which I always enjoy having, and more of an evening snack for Sonja.  It was a fun night with good food and people.  A nurse, cop, pharmacy tech and resident were all there and Sonja and I.

We just came home and it will be shortly off to bed.  I am tired and so is Sonja.

No more vines!

Today was just like every other day except for one thing: our baby is 14 weeks old :)  I am now in my second trimester and baby is now 3.2 to 4.5 inches long.  It is approximately the size of an average fist.  A big development from this week onward is the development of lanugo, which is fine hair that grows over almost all of baby's body.  The hairs grow in whirled patterns that follow the grain of it's skin.  These patterns later give way to fingerprints.  I think that is pretty cool.

Any way, the day was pretty much uneventful.  I slept in much longer then I thought I would and then I got up and ate some breakfast.  I didn't do much until Tyler came home and then I joined him in eating last nights swarties for lunch.  It was pretty tasty once again.  And Tyler was off to work again, leaving me to cross stitch most of the afternoon.  I'm getting close to being done my current project.

Tyler came home later then expected so dinner didn't get started until he was home.  We had steak and mashed potatoes.  It was so good.  Soon after, Tyler got a call back to work.  It didn't take too long and he was home studying.

We just got home from a walk around town and now watching a movie.  It's pretty funny so far.  I can't believe it's already 8:30.  Where did this evening go?

Monday, August 8, 2011

Last night Sonja was called into work by the RCMP.  She went reluctantly as we were in the middle of a movie and she really doesn't want to be doing that anymore.  So she went in and I finished the movie.  Unfortunately for me after the movie was over I was drawn into an episode of Mythbusters.  So I stayed up later than I had wanted too.  I went to bed and got to sleep.  I was woken up by Sonja about 1:30.  I wasn't expecting her back till morning, so I was sleeping in the middle of the bed.  She needed some room so she woke me up to get me to move over.  I went back to sleep and stayed asleep for most of the night except for the cat scratching on the bed at 5.  The alarm went off and got up before it woke up Sonja.

I went into work and pretty much just sat around all morning.  I had two patients come in, but other than that it was pretty slow.  I was just running down the clock until lunch.  I came home and found that Sonja had just rolled out of bed a half hour before.  I had a sandwich and leftover chicken cordon bleu.

I went back to work and finished off the day.  I was a little bit busier and the afternoon went a bit quicker.  Luckily I was able to get out on time at 4:12.  I came home and laid on the bed for a bit and fell asleep while supper was cooking.  I was asleep for about a half hour or so.  I woke up and didn't feel much better.  I was still tired.  Supper was almost ready.  We had swarties and leftover ham.  It was super good.  I ate too much and have been full all night.  We went for a walk around town trying to settle down the food.

Besides the walk most of the night has been relaxing and it will be off to bed early for me.

Another strange night!

Well, once again I have done something strange in my sleep last night that didn't impress Tyler very much. I was having a dream that Tyler was falling off a cliff so I was trying to save him.  I woke up when Tyler was trying to wake me up.  He was pretty confused and I was a little too.  I was shaking him on his shoulder blade and shoulder and he was kind of upset that I once again woke him up.  I always feel bad when I do things like that, because it's not like I do it on purpose but I also can't control it at all.

I was woken many times last night from little Miss. Kitten.  When she is coned, she always bugs me at night.  I don't mind most of the time but last night, Kitten decided she wanted to set up camp right on my shoulder.  I was sleeping on my side and she was sleeping with her face right above mine, on my shoulder.

Once I got out of bed, it wasn't too eventful of a day.  Tyler had to study all morning so I got to do all the housework.  I didn't have to but I figured since I wasn't doing anything besides cross stitching, I would just do it.  Plus I know I wouldn't want to do housework after studying all morning.  That's never fun.  What a good wife I am :)

Once he was done studying, I cut Tyler's hair and then headed to take a nap.  I was pretty tired but only ended up sleeping for about half an hour.  When I woke up, I was grumpy.  I didn't feel good in my stomach, my mouth tasted like old food and I was still tired.  And then Tyler started to make dinner.  He made us chicken cordon blue.  I think it turned out really great but unfortunately we didn't make anything else to go with it.  It would have been good with rice but we forgot.  Oh well, it was still awesome.

We took a walk after dinner, just around the town.  It was nice but I was thirsty and really hot after a while so we came home.  And now we are just sitting around doing nothing.  My stomach is acting funny, so I think I will be looking for something to settle that down.

Baby is doing great.  13 weeks and 5 days old.  I can't wait till my next doctors appointment because then we will get to hear the heartbeat for the first time.  I'm most excited for that.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

This morning the cat was kind of a pain.  She has been running around coneless for the last couple of days.  Sonja convinced me that the cat can be trusted and hasn't really been scratching.  So this morning I woke up with her scratching on the bed.  I looked around the room and couldn't find her.  It turns out that now that she doesn't has a force field around her head, she was able to get underneath the bed and scratching on the bottom of it.  Shortly after that I was called into work.  So I went in.  It was just an x-ray that I needed to do.

I came home and shortly after that I was called back in again for another x-ray.  I went in two more times after that.  So it was kind of a busy day for me.  It was pretty uneventful after 2.

Sonja and I went for a walk around town.  The sun was out and it was gorgeous.  It's too bad I am on call and unable to fully enjoy the weather.  I would like to go out in the kayak and do some fishing.  But I can't.  I was supposed to be done being on call on Monday, but I found out that my boss is sick and won't be back when she was supposed to be.  So I am stuck on call for a bit longer, and not sure when I will be done.

The cat has scratched another massive wound on her face, so I promptly re-coned her and she has been walking around all depressed again, which is probably the best way to have a cat.  She has been a real pain when she isn't wearing her cone.

Friday

Well, today something happened that hasn't happened to me in a long time.  I woke up when Tyler's alarm went off and he got out of bed.  I continued to lay there, hoping to get back to sleep.  But I just stayed awake and eventually got out of bed at 7:15am.  The strange part about it was I wasn't even tired.  I was awake and I stayed awake.  I figured I could take a nap in the afternoon if I needed to.  It turns out, waking up early has many advantages, like you get so much more time in a day to do everything.  Once Tyler went to work, I ate some breakfast and went for a walk at 9.  It was a very nice morning, with the sun shining and everything.  I walked up the big hill and saw many cute pets along the way, 4 dogs and 5 kittens to be exact.  It's kind of what I look for on walks.  It makes the boring same old town a little more exciting.

Once I got home, I did the dishes.  And then it was 10:45, the time I usually get out of bed.  And I had nothing left to do.  It's strange to be done everything that early.  I watched a bit of tv and surfed the internet.

Soon Tyler was home and gone again.  I had the afternoon to cross stitch and enjoy the beautiful weather.  It was so nice today.  Actually, it was really hot outside but I'm not complaining.  I had all the windows open which Kitten loved so much.  She has been coneless for 2 days now and she is doing pretty good.  She has a wound on her face but it's not as bad as it could be.  She's doing pretty good and she's acting like a real kitty.

Tyler came home from work early and we went for another short walk to the store.  Tyler had a few items he wanted to celebrate the weekend with.  He bought some pop as a treat for being on call for what seems like forever.  Poor guy.  I feel sad for him but the doctors said they would try to take it easy on him tonight.

Our evening is being spent doing what we always do.  I'll end up cross stitching and Tyler is enjoying his nightly addiction to popcorn.  Kitten is on the back of the couch being stuck up but super cute.

Enjoy the weekend!

Today I started out being tired. Never a good way to start a day.  I went out to work. It was a slow morning. I took blood from only two people. So I did a lot of waiting and catching up on things in the lab that I have been putting off.

I came home for lunch and had leftover classy chicken and leftover tacos. It was good and I filled right up before heading back to the grind.

The afternoon was a complete 180 from the morning. I was busy from the moment I went back until he moment I left to come home. I had a new record collection. I took 15 tubes of blood from him and is having 56 tests done.  I was busy doing everything for that as well as the normal workload. I had people flowing in all afternoon. I had to turn people away near the end of the day in order to catch up.

I came home and found that supper was in the oven and getting ready to go. I went to see what was up with the car while we waited for supper. I ended up push starting it again and ran it around town. I parked it and shut it off. To see what is actually going on. I tried to see if it would start again. It started up again. It took a little bit of doing, but it started right up. So I plugged it in to the charger. I will leave it all night and maybe it will recharge it and that will be the last of the problems this time around.

I worked on and finished my last physics assignment tonight and have been relaxing the rest of the night. Sonja also made banana chocolate chip muffins. They are really good.

Last night, we went to bed at around 10.  We were both pretty tired.  After talking for a few minutes, we turned out the light and went to sleep.  A while later, I looked up at the lamp that hangs from our roof and there was a giant flying ant crawling on it.  It was so gross and creepy and I shot to the end of the bed, shaking Tyler’s legs for him to wake up too.  He was a little groggy as he had pretty much fallen asleep but he turned the light on to see what I was so scared of.  And there was nothing.  Nothing was crawling anywhere and I felt a little foolish.  It obviously was a dream, the kind you get when you aren’t awake but aren’t fully asleep yet either, but it seemed so real.  My fear was real, that’s for sure.  I had done that about a year ago too.  I turned the lights on in the middle of the night because I thought I saw bugs crawling on the wall.  That turned out to be the light streaming through the blinds and since there was breeze that night, the lights were flickering, making it seem like they were crawling.  Any way, Tyler didn’t really appreciate me waking him up and I felt bad too.  Unfortunately I can’t control what I think is real and what I dream sometimes.
I didn’t get a restful sleep after that.  I woke up a little while later and I was so hungry.  I got out of bed and ate half a banana.  I figured that would tie me over until this morning.  It didn’t.  I woke up again at around 5 and I felt so hungry again.  Plus Kitten was making noise in the living room so I had to inspect what she was up to.  She was chasing moths at our window and although it was pretty cute, I didn’t like being woken up.  After that, I didn’t get back to sleep.  I’m not sure why but I lay mostly awake until Tyler’s alarm went off this morning at 6:45am.
Even after Tyler went into the shower, I was awake.  I thought that maybe my tiredness had subsided and I would finally have energy again.  I got out of bed for a drink of water but headed back because I knew I was actually still tired even though I didn’t feel it.
And soon I drifted off into glorious sleep.  It felt great to be so comfortable and be able to use all the pillows all to myself.  When I woke up again, I thought I didn’t sleep for that long.  It felt like I had just dozed for a little while.  I looked over at the clock and it was blank.  And then I remembered Tyler saying there would be a power outage today from 9 till 3.  Once I got out of bed, I was 10:45, the same time I usually wake up in the morning.
After eating breakfast, I headed out for a walk.  It was a beautiful day today, with the sun shining and hardly any clouds in the sky.  And it was hot!  I walked around town and then got way to warm so I headed back home.
Tyler came home for lunch and we enjoyed some time together. After he left again, the power came on again so I was able to keep myself occupied all afternoon.  I worked out while watching Dexter and did the dishes and went to the store for some last minute list items.  I bought myself some gobstoppers because those were calling to me.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing with Kitty.  She has had her cone off for most of the day and only did minimal damage to her face.  There is a feather that she loves to play with but when she is coned, she runs up to it but then can’t find it.  But today, she was stalking it and throwing it up in the air and just being a real cat for once.  It was nice to see her like that.  I also found her sleeping in my clothes drawer.  What a sweetie.  I’m excited to bring her home at Christmas.  I think being home will allow her to heal fully and she can see her grandparents again.  I know my mom and dad are excited to see her again J

Our evening will be spent cross stitching and Tyler is working on his assignment for school.  It’s going to be early to bed because we are both pretty tired.  It will be a pretty good night of relaxing.

Today when I woke up I still felt full from last night.  It was weird for that.  I have never been full the next morning.  I even had a half bowl of cereal.  I hopped in the shower and got ready for work.  I went into work and had a moderately busy morning.  Soon enough it was time to come home for lunch.

We were sent home some leftover turkey.  So we had some turkey sandwiches.  While I was home we watched some Modern Family.  But before we knew it, it was time for me to go back to work.  I had a few things to do to fill my time this afternoon.  I was getting pretty tired by the end of the day.  Being called in 5 times yesterday really tired me out.  I was also pretty hungry.

I came home and we made tacos for supper.  Sonja wasn't really into it so she only had 1, but I ate more than my share and her.  After supper we cleaned up.  I did a little bit of homework.  Getting excited to finish this last bit of physics.  1 more month and I can be done with it.

The night has been spent relaxing.  I had to make some more humming bird juice, so I did that and rejoined Sonja on the couch.

Day Off!

I love a good long weekend.  It means that instead of spending just 2 days together with Tyler, I get an extra day to not be all alone all day long.  It's pretty awesome.

Last night wasn't too awesome though.  I woke up at around 2 with a headache and I couldn't get back to sleep for hours.  I was kind of a mess but Tyler made me feel better and we were back sleeping 2 hours later.  Not the best way to spend the middle of the night, that's for sure.

I woke up this morning earlier then I thought I would.  It was 10:30ish, which I know isn't that early, but considering I was awake for most of the night, I was surprised.  And still tired.  Tyler was already up and doing some homework.  I joined him on the couch with a bowl of Cheerios with cut up bananas.  What a way to start the day!  It's pretty tasty.

Our vehicle hasn't been starting at all so Tyler has been doing some internet research to see how he can get it working again.  He decided that push starting it was the best option.  It kind of freaked me out because I would have to be involved in the "starting" part and since I don't know how to drive a stick when it will work, I was a little scared to be the one behind the wheel at this point.  But I did my best and it didn't work.  Soon, one of the doctors came to help us and Tyler got in the drivers seat.  We pushed him down the breakwater hill beside the hospital and the car started up almost with no problems. It was then decided to park the car on a hill for easier starting.  Now we have to figure out what to do with it before we drive it home at Christmas.  I just hope it's not too expensive of a repair bill.

Once that was completed, we spent out afternoon doing more homework and cross stitching.  It was pretty low key.  We stepped outside frequently to enjoy the only blue sky we've had since we've been home.  It was a little breezy but still only a few clouds were up there.

Tyler is on call for this weekend and he has been called back so many times.  It's been non stop and it's starting to drive him crazy.  He is back now for his 5th stint today.  It's more a pain at this point because the Dr. who is requiring all these tests is a newbie and Tyler says he is ordering a bunch of things that aren't normally ordered on call backs.  Plus, every time Tyler goes to do something, like he was just sitting down with his lunch all warm from the oven, his phone starts to ring.  It's handy for the time off he is getting out of it but he has worked more today then on any regular work day.

We were invited to a party this evening for our friends, Jan and Carl and Carl's mom.  Today is Jan and Carl's 4th wedding anniversary and Carl's mom's birthday.  So, we went over to their place for a big turkey meal with all the fixings.  It was so good.  Good friends and good food is a perfect way to end a long weekend.

Tyler is back at work right now, so I'm just typing out the day's events.  Not doing too much at all right now but thinking of going to bed pretty soon.

Baby is doing fine.  189 days till the due date.  According to the internet, the crown to rump length of baby is almost 2.5 inches and it now weights between 8 and 14 grams.  Maybe the size of a peach.  It's getting pretty exciting.  A new picture should be up tomorrow of my not so growing belly.

Off to bed soon.
