First day!

Well, today was my first day at this new job.  And the first day was pretty dull.

I got up with Tyler, showered and enjoyed breakfast together.  I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to wear today, as most of the fancier clothes I own are back home.  I ended up wearing dark jeans and a white  sweater and felt good about it.  I left for the health center and showed up before everyone else.

I sat down and soon, the rest of the new hires came in.  There are 6 new people working.  We were told that it was a tough decision to pick us, and that we were all replaceable.  If that doesn't inspire confidence on your first day, I'm not sure what will.

The orientation started with a few silly ice breaker games, followed by a fairly boring powerpoint presentation.  The person controlling the computer didn't let us actually read all the information that was on each slide, so it was a little pointless.

We then talked.  It confused me greatly and by lunch, my brain didn't understand anything.  I wasn't sure about this new job at this point.  I regrouped with a smoothie lunch, and went to a building called "Sasum House".  Sasum means children in the Heiltsuk language.  I'm going to slowly learn bits and pieces of this language, which I think is super cool.

Once at Sasum House, we actually did some work on this new program.  It felt good to be getting somewhere and having a little direction.  There isn't much to talk about because we mostly planned a program I'm not working with.  It was confusing.  We then broke off into our own little groups and sort of planned a little more.  We were all braindead by the end of the day so it was now time to go home.

I walked home in the one 15 minute interval that it wasn't pouring, hailing, raining or spitting.  Today's weather was crazy.  There was intense lightening, followed by loud booms of thunder.  It's November and we are hearing thunder... super cool.  It would hail so much that we couldn't hear each other talk.  There was also, at some points, blue sky and rain at the same time.  It was a truly crazy weather day.

I walked home and started on dinner.  I was sure this meal would be tasty, but I was so wrong.  I made spaghetti and added a bunch of herbs.  It turned out gritty and not so good.  So much for trying new recipes.

We hadn't done dishes all weekend, so we had a huge job ahead of us.  It wasn't so bad and soon we were watching last nights episode of Dexter and once again, that show almost made me loose my breath.

And now, we are just watching tv.  I'll probably do some cross-stitching or read.  No plans for the rest of the night.  I am so tired so I'll probably go to bed early.

Kitty has been so cute with her cone off.  She dressed up as a lamp last night for halloween.  But since she knows how to get out of her cone/harness contraption, there really isn't any point in putting it on her any more.

Any way, no plans for the rest of the night.
