We all woke up and got out of bed around the same time. I made some French toast for breakfast and didn't burn it, which always a plus. It's so great to have mom and dad out here to enjoy all this with us. After breakfast, we decided to go out kayaking right away. It was a beautiful day on the water. We went down to the ferry terminal and went to the next stick out point. Tyler was saying his legs were completely asleep so we docked our kayaks on the shore. The water was pretty cold but nothing we couldn't take. As Tyler was stepping out of his kayak, he pretty much fell right over and looked really silly as he couldn't feel his legs. He couldn't even try to brace himself against a rock as they are all covered in sharp barnacles. We all sat on the rocks and talked. It was very peaceful and relaxing, and very warm.
I noticed a pair of eyes looking at us. A little seal was curious about what was going on and he was fairly close. I pointed and exclaimed that there was a seal there, and mom basically squealed, while at the same time dad turned around on the rocks, and Tyler went to get the camera. It was a little too scary for the seal and he splashed away. We saw him pop up a little further out in the water. He was so cute! That was pretty cool. After the excitement, we decided to make our way across the channel to see if we could find an old Totem pole that is apparently out there somewhere. We crossed and went further south. We have no idea where it is, so we ended up turning back to come home. By the time we all made it home, it was 2 hours later and we were all pretty tired.
We put the gear back and headed out on to the deck. It was so warm. We continued to talk and eat salty snacks. It's so good to have my parents out here. Especially when mom says stuff like, "That was the highlight of my year so far", referring to the fact that we just got home from a kayaking trip on the ocean.
For the rest of the afternoon, we watched barges go by, talked. We went for a walk down to the local pier, watched kids jump off the government pier.
We just finished dinner, which was super tasty. Tyler had marinated deer tenderloin and I made mashed potatoes, all while talking about how exciting it is that mom is becoming a grandmama, and all that. Mom and Tyler washed dishes as I started this blog. Then we went on another short little walk to the end of the rock pier. It was a lot windier then it looked, therefore it was cooler then we wanted.
We are now watching the hockey game, watching Kitty race around, going crazy for a tiny piece of paper. We will probably play some Phase 10 later tonight. I love having my mom and dad out here. It's fun seeing how excited they are for us to be living here
