Fishing

So today was the last day of work for me for a while. I am coming home tomorrow for ten days. Unfortunately because of that the day seemed to drag on. It didn't help that it was extremely slow as everyone seems to be taking a super long weekend. I went home early and was home at ten to four. Sonja came home at four as she had been done all her work since two. She didn't sleep very good last night so she was super tired and I told her to take a nap. I went to the store to stock up on food for her while I am not here. I came home and she still wasn't asleep. I ended up taking a nap too. We slept until Sonja got a text from her co-worker saying when they would be going out fishing. We quickly found something to eat and readied ourselves for fishing.

We went out trolling for salmon. It was fun. Going up and down the channel. There were a few bites but no fish. Fortunately for us though Cheryl and Tom seem to have an abundance of fish at their place and are giving us some. While we were checking one of the bites to see if there was a real fish still on the end an eagle started to circle around. He knew what was up because he thought we had a fish. We were told about some of the places around here like that the salmon run at the ferry terminal and some local names of the bays around here. That was pretty much our day. It was fun. I wish we could have caught something but it was fun regardless.

My flight flies out of here at 3 and I will be back on Alberta soil at 9:45. Sonja is coming next week for the weekend because she doesn't think that the cat would be ok for ten days by itself.

Today is over. And I'm kind of glad.

It started alright. Waking up was difficult but I had to shower this morning, so I got up as soon as the alarm went off. I had jam toast and Ty had cereal. Tyler went to work and I watched a bit of Pro Tennis. I love Tennis. I wish I lived closer to a Tennis court.

I then went to work and didn't really know what I would be doing. I got there and started a list. I really did nothing today. It was boring. I shredded a ton of paper. That was always my backup plan. Something to fall back on. But now I am done that. I printed some labels, and then did my bosses job. She wanted me to fax some stuff. After I did her job, she told me that tomorrow, she is going to show me how to do some more of her job (those are my words). If she shows me what she wants, I will be doing her job. Kind of funny, but also, not so much.

Some one was also rude to me, but I don't want to complain about work any more. Its no fun. I also decided that I would make myself available to the RCMP whenever they need me. I talked to my boss and she said that that was fine. Now, if they call in the middle of the night, I just wont go to work the next day until after lunch. Or, if they need me in the middle of the day, I get to leave boring job early. It's pretty exciting, except for the waking up in the middle of the night part. That is never fun.

Since I am super good at my job, I got to go home at 3:50. One hour early!! When Tyler got home, we didn't know what to do because it was only 4 and we don't eat dinner that early. We played with Kitty and then just laid on the floor and talked. It was nice. We then did the dishes, as we have been putting that off for about 2 days now. Tyler made some pancakes for supper and man, they were so good. Nothing like breakfast for dinner.

Then we went on a walk. Tyler wanted to go crab hunting, but it is windy by the water so we walked through town. We walked past the community hall and went inside. We played a few rounds of 21, both of which I lost. I tried to cheat to get a few extra points, but I still am no good at basketball. If we were playing volleyball, I would have kicked some butt!

Now we are home. I'm pretty tired for reason. Tyler just made popcorn and I made smoothies earlier. No plans for the night. I am excited for when we come home. The plan is get some rain gear so we can actually go out when the sky cries. That should be good because then we wont be locked inside, going crazy.

As you may have guessed, it rained today. Right when I had to return to work from lunch, it started pouring. I walked to work and was all wet and cold for the first 30 minutes of work. It was not fun.

At one of the breaks today, I walked into the break room and saw Tyler opening up our 3rd piece of mail. Anna and Callie-Jo from Malmo church sent us two beautiful drawings. It is nice to get mail. They also wrote us a little note.

Anna, to answer your question, we haven't swam in the water yet but maybe on a hot day, it would feel really good. We would love it if you came out to watch all the sea creatures.

Callie-Jo, we would also love it if you came out to check out our little town. For lunch, we usually make sandwiches, or soup or left over dinner from the night before. We like KD too, but it's pretty expensive out here. I think when we come back home, we will buy some to take back out here. And yes, our Kitty is very fun.

Thank you guys for the mail. It is a very interesting place and it's great to hear you enjoy living it through the blog.

Kitty was bring super cute this morning, waking us up super early this morning. She is sleeping right now. Yesterday night, she was destroying one of the paper bags we have on the floor. It was very cute.

Tomorrow is the end of the week. Thursday is July 1 and I managed to get Friday off as well...whoa, 4 day weekend!

I love Tyler!!

Porpoise

Monday. The beginning of the week was pretty boring. It was slow right from the start. By lunch I was ready for the day to be done. I came home for lunch and had a sandwich with Sonja. While we were sitting eating lunch Sonja spotted a cruise ship go by. We went out onto the deck and took some pictures of it. There was a foreign language being spoken over the loud speaker. It turns out that the ship was from Japan. It was heading north to Alaska. Going over a spot that we boated over yesterday. It was 250 feet deep there.

After lunch I went back to work to finish off the day. We got a new analyzer at work so I spent the rest of the day learning how to use it. Again pretty boring stuff. Soon though it was coffee time. We looked out side and there was a huge yacht anchored out in the bay. Again the rest of the day went by slowly. Nothing happened after coffee.

After I got off of work I came home and was watching out into the bay and I saw something that didn't look like a normal wave. Turns out that they were porpoises. There were 5 or 6 of them diving around in the bay. They went south for a little bit and then went north again. I took some pictures, but it is hard to get some good ones, as you never know when they will show up and you just see their fin.

It started up being really sunny this morning but soon turned rainy. It poured most of the day from around two until now.

We had pancakes for breakfast, and chicken for supper. Both were really delicious. We are watching My Name is Earl right now. Sonja is going to make some smoothies soon and I will probably have some popcorn.

Thats all for now.

Seal Frenzy!!!

Today was a good day. It started great, with us being able to sleep in as late as we wanted. Tyler got up at around 8:30 and I got out of bed at 9:00ish. Kitten slept right beside me all night and I love it when she does that. It makes me feel like she loves me as much as I love her. It makes me feel like she appreciates how many times I scoop her litter box. She is a good kitty.

For breakfast, Tyler made special pancakes. They were special because Tyler put chocolate chips in them. There is nothing like having warm melty chocolate, butter and syrup in the morning. So tasty. After that, we sat on the couch. Not the most exciting way to spend a day off, but it was relaxing and also fun. We were also waiting for a text from my friend/co-worker. The plan was to go out on her husbands boat.

We finally got the text and went out onto the warf to wait for Tom and Cheryl to bring the boat around. We met up with them and got on the boat. We started out heading south, past the ferry terminal and into a big bay area. We looped around the bay and came back up north. We were about 25 feet away from the shore and it was about 100 feet deep. I can't even imagine the huge drop that was...because it creeps me out.

We continued north and kept on going. They showed us a really old totem pole that we have been trying find since we got here. It is closer then we thought. It was really cool. It basically looked like a pole with a nose on it. It was hard to see because it was kind of buried by trees. But at least now we can kayak there one sunny day.

Tom is a crab fisher so we headed to where he has 2 traps set up. I was a little nervous about when he brought the traps out of the water. I am kind of scared of ocean critters so when he did pull the trap up and there were 5 crab in there, I kind of freaked out a bit. It was really cool but a little scary. We then went to the next trap. When he pulled that trap up, there were way more crab and a sun fish in there. The sun fish was huge and it stunk. There were a lot of crab in there and Tom had to flip the trap upside down. All the crab fell out and start sliding around the boat floor.

We also got to see some really cool Heiltsuk wall paintings. To me, it looked like a moose standing like a person with a long tail. Not sure if that is what it was, but it still looked really cool.

We were boating past a huge rock pile and Tyler thought he saw some seals. When we turned around, there were about 40 seals, relaxing on the rocks. When the boat got closer, all the seals went into the water and started bobbing in the water, with their cute little seal heads popping up in the water.

We then went to Shearwater for dinner. It was better tasting then the food from the restaurant in town. We had a good time and came back home. Tom ended up giving us about 3 huge crabs. When we brought them home, Tyler put them on the counter and Kitty started freaking out over them. I tried to calm her down by bringing her closer to them while in my arms, but that didn't work. She still freaked out, so Tyler put them in the fridge. Tyler is going to bring them when he goes back home.

The weather today was cloudy and gloomy again. It didn't rain but it still wasn't that great.

Kitty was sleeping most of the day. She didn't do anything great, but since she is so cute, I guess that is enough for her.

Tonight, we plan on relaxing some more. Surprisingly, boat rides are tiring so we are just going to relax some more.

Today is also Gavin's 2nd birthday. So, happy birthday to him. We wish you a great day and we miss you a lot.

Wedding Day

Well today was an interesting day. We woke up and decided to go get some groceries. It was raining and foggy all day. Not the nice weather we were hoping for this weekend. After groceries we had lunch and played some Wii.

I was told by a few people at work yesterday that there was a wedding in town today and that weddings around here are open invitation and that we were welcome to go. So we were told that the wedding started at 3:00. We went over at 2:50, to get a seat where we didn't have to walk to the front, and have the whole town looking at us, wondering who we were. We got to the church and found it still mostly empty. We found a seat in the back so that no one important would be missing a seat. The nurse who told me about the wedding came over and told us that they like to have huge bridal parties here and that the bride is always late. The bride didn't show up until 4:00. If we would have known it was going to be that late, we could have waited to show up and still get a good seat. The ceremony was very informal, kids running around throughout the time. Family members and friends up taking pictures of the party, all 28 of them. We saw some people eating potato chips during the ceremony as well. Of course there was no PA system at the church so it was pretty much impossible. We decided not to go to the reception, even though it is also an open invitation. We figured it would be a little bit weird still to go and cash in on that. We came home and made hot dogs for supper. They were pretty good. We toasted the buns and melted cheese on them to make them that much better.

After supper we watched the movie "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang". It was alright. Now we are just relaxing watching TV. We are going out on a boat tomorrow with one of Sonja's co-workers. So that should be fun. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much. But regardless it will be super cool. While we were on our walk yesterday, the people who are taking us on the boat tomorrow stopped us and asked us if we saw the orcas in the water. Apparently there were four of them. So we started to watch the water to see if hopefully they were still there. They were far away but we did see some spouting activity by the light house, so i guess we did see them. Hopefully we see some tomorrow. That would be really cool.

Thats it for now.

Are you ready for the weekend??

Ahh, a big sigh of relief as we enter the weekend. It was quite the week. Not because it was stressful or anything like that. But because for the first time since starting there, I have been busy. I was actually busy all week. It's been pretty nice. I usually start the day by making a "to do" list. The goal is to get the list done by the end of each day (I'm sure you know the point of a list like that.) This past week, the list has been relatively long with lots of people to call and paper to scan. It's been so productive this week. It feels good to be of use for once.

Any way, today actually started alright. Not too tired but still wanting to sleep. We got up and went to work. I got right to my list and finished it right away. I also had the task of printing and photocopying a patient's chart. It took a good part of my morning. To sum up, I finished up my work at about 3 in the afternoon. Even before then, I started shredding old lab results and other medical documents that get to be shred at every 3 months. That task didn't need to be done, but I started it because I had nothing else to do.

I always wonder why older people think younger people know how to fix every computer problem. Let me explain: The past few days, the doctors computers have been turning themselves off and no one knows why. Every one looks at me to fix it, only I know nothing about computers. My co-workers basically demand that I help the doctors out with their computer issues. It makes no sense because I have stated many times that I am computer illiterate. I don't get it. And it bugs me. I would help, but I have no idea what to do.

I wont complain to much more, although there is much to talk about.

I got to go home early because I am awesome at my job and got my work done by 3:30. I shredded some more paper for half an hour and got home in time for the NHL draft. It was exciting. We are both excited for the Oilers season next year.

As we were watching that, I started making a din din of French Toast. I had to get a towel from the closet, where kitten loves to hang out. I left the door open and she just chilled in there. We ate dinner and decided to go for a walk. We had heard that there was a big black bear at the dump so Ty convinced me to go check it out. Once we got there, we heard a big noise coming from inside. I stayed back because I didn't want to run into any thing. Tyler went up close to the walls and then there was the noise. A big rustle in the bushes made my heart beat fast. Tyler said it was just a bunch of birds flying threw the trees. Then we walked home. After we got home, we both were wondering where Kitten had ended up. We checked all her local hang out spots, like on our bed, on her couch, in the closet in our room, in the box in her room. Finally, as I opened up the closet door, Kitten made a cute noise and walked out. Tyler confessed to shutting it on her, claiming he didn't know she was in there. I only kind of believe that. I made him say sorry to her.

And now we sit here. After a busy day at work, we plan on relaxing. We are getting the movie "The book of Eli" and I don't know what I think about that movie. The previews didn't super impress me. I guess it's better then doing nothing. I am getting tired so it's nice to just relax.

The weather wasn't all that great today. No rain but cloudy and unhappy. The whole weekend is supposed to be like this. If it's actually nice out, we plan on hiking up to the top of the mountain to survey the scene. I hope it clears up. It would be great to go for a hike.

Kitten is being cute, as usual. Sleeping on the back of the couch right by Tyler's head.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Internet!!

The internet guy came on Tuesday and was trying to fix our connection. He couldn't figure it out claiming it might have been a Mac problem, because he didn't know how to find the internet settings on my computer. So I went on the search for Internet Explorer for Mac so he could try to fix our internet with a program he is more familiar with. In doing this I found there was an internet cable running into our storage room, outside of our place. So I opened the door and took the computer out there with the modem to see if this new connection worked. It did and worked well. Like internet from a real internet provider like Telus or Shaw. Today I came home at lunch and saw Vince the internet guy working on our receiver. He also noticed this mystery cord and wanted into our storage room. I told him what I discovered last night and he offered to feed that connection into our apartment. So that is what I type to you from now. We now have two connections and so we can pick and choose the one that works best.

Today started out pretty busy at work. Until coffee time. After coffee it was slow and then lunch came and I got the internet fixed. After lunch it was pretty steady which is good because it makes the day go by quicker. Sonja went over to the RCMP detachment today but it was locked when she tried getting in. I guess she will try tomorrow again. After work was done I came home and went to the store to pick up some milk, bananas, and lunch meat. I came home and started making supper. We had cheese stuffed chicken and rice. It was delicious. One of the best chicken meals ever. After supper we watched a show on TSN about the Oilers draft process for tomorrow. It was cool and now I am excited to see who they pick as their number one pick. Either way I don't think we can go wrong. To bad we couldn't make some trades and get number two pick as well. Then I know we couldn't go wrong.

Anyway, not to much is planned right now. We are watching Gladiator and Sonja is waiting for a new show called Rookie Blue that she wants to watch.

New found internet source in our storage room so I thought I'd post a picture.
It took a real amount of time...10 seconds.

Another successful day!!

Today was a good day.

This morning was aweful only because we were both so tired. I don't
know why we are always so tired because we go to sleep at a good time
every night. I guess it's just better to sleep instead of working.

We had a breakfast of cereal or toast. It's hard to remember some
times. We went to work. Today was super busy for me, as was yeserday.
It's so nice to finally have stuff to do all day long. I organized
myself for the day and got to work. I was printing stuff, scanning
stuff, calling people for appointments. It was a good day because I
knew what I had to do and I worked hard to get it all done. I did so
much the past few days that I honestly don't know what I will do
tomorrow. I am pretty caught up until end of July. It's kind of
exciting. My boss told me that I should take full advantage of summer
and take some afternoons off if things are slow because when the
winter hits, it sucks. I will likely take advantage of that. I want to
start at the RCMP as soon as I can cause that is where I would rather
work. I am going to talk with them tomorrow.

Tyler had supper ready when I got home. He had this cool show on too.
It was about this hospital ship that was going to Togo Africa to help
the people there. We talked about maybe looking into doing something
like that. There would be an xray and a lab there and it would be a
really cool experience. Something to think about.

The wearer sucked today. It spat, poured, rained. Just not a nice day
at all. Can't see the mountains at all. It was cool too.

No plans for tonight. We are currently watching Deadliest Catch a d it
always makes me so sad. I actually cried a little when they dropped
something on all the crabs they caught. It's silly but I don't care.

Tyler is going to the hospital to see if he can get somehing to make
our Internet actually work. That would be nice.

I might look on the computer for new cross stitches to order and work
on. That would be great to have that to do again. Mormor gave me a
website with lots of really cool patterns so I will look through that.

I hope it's. Ice this weekend. That would be great.

Today my thoughts were focused mainly on Morfar. He is in the hospital
and I hope he can get out soon. Some prayer from those who read this
would be awesome.

Tuesday

Woke up this morning and slept good, wanted to sleep longer. We got up and had breakfast. I had honeynut cheerios and Sonja had toast and jam. I went to work and it started up pretty busy but slowed down before lunch. I had a turkey sandwich for lunch. It was really good. The afternoon went by pretty quick. It was cloudy but almost sunny. It was a weird day for weather.

After I was done work I went to find out if we could get our internet looked at. So the guy came over and is going to try to fix it tomorrow. I don't know how but he is. Right now it was kinda working but this site doesn't load so still blogging from my phone.

Supper was good. We had chicken and rice. It was supposed to be curry chicken but the recipe was read wrong and it ended up being chili chicken. But it was still very good.

We are currently watching wipe out and waiting for Americas Got Talent. We will have popcorn laterand go to bed.

Aboriginal day!!

Today was a good day based on the fact that I got the day off work to celebrate Aboriginal day. Long weekends are awesome.

Today started as most do. Us being tired and not wanting to get up but needing to. Actually, I really didn't need to but the whole "support your husband" thing took over so I got up with him.

We had cereal even though Ty wanted pancakes. He went off to work and I was left trying to stay awake at 8 in the morning.

I managed to find stuff to do. There is always the waiting-for-the-Internet-to-work game which always results in me losing. I worked out because I'm into that now. I watched Cops and now can't get the theme song out of my head. I waited for the BBQ that the hospital was putting on. It was an uneventful morning but it was so nice to be at home.

I met up with Ty and we went to lunch. I had a hot dog with all the fixings and Ty had a hamburger. It was all so tasty and I didn't have to make any of it.

After we were done eating, I hung around the lunch room for a bit, waiting till 1 pm so I could go talk to the Internet people about making our Internet worth the money we spend on it. It is so bad that I am writting this blog on tys phone. Any way, the head honcho of the clinic wanted to talk with me so we went into a room and we chatted about my views on the job and the environment in which I work in. I was honest and after that conversation, I felt much better about everything regarding work. My boss told me that the behavior that is going on will stop and that things were hopefully going to get better. She also said, and this is my interpretation of it, but she said that she agreed with us and that she should have done something a while ago.  It makes me a little afraid to go into work but at least I know that her behavior isn't accepted.

I went to the Internet place and it was closed up.  They were closed as was all the village, which makes sense, this being a place that would have many celebrators of the day. I came back home and played with kitty, watched a movie while working out a little more.

Ty came home from work and told me he saw some one with cotton candy and was wondering if I wanted some. We went out in search of our sugary treat but didnt find any. Instead we saw the whole town watching the Strong man/woman contest. Men and women had to pull a little beater car a short distance. It was entertaining as this older woman kicked all the younger peoples butts.

We returned home and I made din din of tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. It was good but every time I make tomato soup, there is always a nasty white layer on the bottom. I have never experienced this before and now it's happened a few times. I don't get it and I feel like it's toxic so we make sure not to scrape th bottom when scooping. We did dishes and then as I was starting this blog we heard noises outside. We looked out our window and saw the town on the big warf. There was a triathalon going on. It was pretty cool. A little boring as we only saw the trade off places. We got a full view of the swimmers though.

The weather today was cloudy and a little chilly. Not much fun. Could barely see the mainland mountains but they are peaking out right now.

Kitten was super cute all day. She slept most of it but it's still cute. She is now in her fort. I have a fuzzy blanket over my legs and she likes to hide out under that. It's sweet but it's sad when I forget she's there and I go to get up.

Tonigt will be filled with some wii. I plan on challenging Ty to a bunch  of games. It should be a fun night.

Weekend end

Today started out the same as yesterday. I got up around 8:30 and went to work to do the collection I needed to do. It took half an hour and then I came home. Easy way to make some money. I brought home some WD-40 because our door is really squeaky and it is annoying anytime but especially the middle of the night after a call back. So I greased it up and now it doesn't make any noise. The rest of the day was easy going. Sonja got out of bed and made us French toast for breakfast. We went to the grocery store hoping to find bananas but they weren't de-trucked yet so we didn't get any. We came home and watched My Name Is Earl.

Tomorrow is aboriginal day so there is going to be a BBQ at the hospital at lunch which is vey exciting. As a pre-celebration today the town took out there dug out canoe and were doing races from the dock to the bouy. The fatest team wins. They were also having a what looked like a dive contest off the end of the dock.

We had chicken wings for supper. They were delicious. They were salt and pepper. After we were done we put the plate of bones on the deck and wathed the ravens fight over the scraps of meat.

No plans. Just go to bed and hope to not get called.

Saturday

Finally is was really nice today. Finally on a day I didn't have to work, the sun was out in force. Tyler had to go into work a few times which made it kind of hard to do much today. The rules of being on call is that Ty can't be 15 minutes away from the hospital. And that means we couldn't go kayaking, on a long bike ride or really anything fun. Basically we just bummed around. It was a good day.

It started early. Well, not really for me. I got to sleep in. Ty went to work at about 8:45. I, for some unreasonable reason, was super tired this morning so I kept sleeping as Ty went off to make us some money. T was awesome to finally be able to just sleep. Also kitty cuddled with me all night long and took Tylers spot on his pillow. It was cute.

I didn't do much while Tyler was at work. I turned on the tv and worked out. I really don't like feeling so lazy out here.

Any way, when Tyler was home, we went on a walk, we got our groceries, thought about how much fun it would be to actually enjoy the sun.

We really didn't do much today but after the day I had yesterday, I'm glad to relax all day. Man, yesterday was horrible. I know I say a bunch of bad stuff about work but yesterday was horrible. Me and my co worker were being told two different things about our jobs and it all got confused and made bigger then it really had to be. Basically if we could have, we both would have quit right then and there.

Last night we saw something pretty cute. We went for a walk along the beach. That was when we took all those pictures of those eagles. It was really cool when they were swooping right in front of us. We were walking and Tyler looked down and saw the tiniest little crab shell and little tiny crab pinchers. The crab was dead which wasn't so cute but it was so tiny. Even Tyler thought it was cute. And now Tyler wants an alive one. He even cleaned out the pickle jar to make a crab-i-tate.

Tyler also said something pretty funny. We were discussing the fact that I always say that Ty is kittys dad and Tyler always says that he isn't kittys dad and that kittys dad is a T. Cat. The T. stands for Tom. This week he said that kittens dad's name is actually Mr. E. Cat. It was funny.

Tonight we are going to hunt for little crabs so Ty can have a little pet. Not much else going on over here.

The weather was really nice today and I hope it stays that way.

Kitten slept pretty much all day. The grocery store gave us paper bags today So kitten got a new toy. She likes to hide out in them.

Photoblog 3

So this is why you don't go for a walk around here without your camera. There were people feeding the eagles from their deck working them up into a frenzy. After the food was gone they were still hungry and were swooping at twigs in the water thinking they were chunks of food. You'll notice that they aren't just pictures of sky, but all do in fact contain an eagle, mostly in the center.
Enjoy the pictures.
Tyler

This eagle came from behind us and swooped down to pick something up.

This guy was sitting on our balcony and was later looking for worms in the planter we have. The cat was likely in the window freaking out.

Long Day

So last night was good for me until 430 in the morning when I got a call and had to go to work. The unfortunate thing about vetting called so early is that I knew that by the time I would e home it would be well after 5 and only another two hours to sleep. So I wen to work to make a buck. A woman had some chest pain and so there was some bloodwork for me to do.  It was probably about 5:30-5:45 by the got home and into bed. So I was right I only had two more hours max to sleep before going to work again. I laid in bed trying to go back to sleep before the 7:30 alarm went off.  I was just getting to doze off for a few minutes and then the phone rang again. This time they wanted a chest xray on the same woman. I went back to work at 6:30 and they weren't ready for me yet. I'm not sure why they called so soon then but whatever. I jut sat and watched the news and talked with the maintenance guy until they finished working on the woman. I went home eventually
and found that the alarm was going off so that was the end of my night since I had to start to get ready for work. I decided not to take a few minute sleep because I would be more tired than I was already. I got ready for work. I showered and had breakfast the rest of the day was pretty slow. Only a couple blood collections and xrays. So it was pretty slow and difficult to stay awake. The day dragged on. It was tempting to take a nap at lunch but I didn't to stay awake. Again though I had to stay late to finish up some work before going home. I made some tacos for supper and Sonja had the rest of the leftover mac and cheese. We did the dishes and I took out the garbage. I made some popcorn and we are watching Over The Hedge.  It is nice to relax after a long day. Hopefully I don't get called before I get some sleep. It's nice to be finally be making some money though. Maybe we'll go for a walk after the movie is over. It just about is. I have to go in to work in the morning but I can go in pretty much whenever. Probably around 9. Then off for groceries and maybe a bikeride to the ferry.

Date Night

We both had a pretty decent night last night which makes the mornings a lot more enjoyable.  It still wasn't easy waking up.  We both had cereal for breakfast.  Our fancy French toast eating mornings have decreased a lot because cereal is so much easier.  But I miss French Toast.  It's so good.  Perhaps tomorrow.

Work was actually pretty decent today.  I was busy all day long.  It feels super great to by busy and feel like I accomplished something useful.  There is an eye doctor coming to town in July and I have to write our each patients medications and allergies on a blue form.  It took all day long.  It was great because I barely got any of it done which means I have lots of work in the coming days.

The day did end up going pretty quickly and I'm thinking that had something to do with all the work I did.  And then something happened that we have never seen before.  The ambulance went away from the hospital with its sirens on.  A little kid got hit by a car but he is okay.  Tyler did some x-rays on him and he was fine.

Tonight is date night.  Tyler decided it was date night because neither of us wanted to cook and we had no idea what we wanted to eat.  We went to the little restaurant here in town.  It was kind of gross but it was nice to go out for din din.  The place had a slight of smell of wet dog.  The food was greasy and so tasty.  Tyler had a bacon cheese burger with fries and I had a chicken strip sandwich, and yes, that is exactly what it was.  3 strips on a bun.  We also had hot wings.  These wings were the hottest things ever.  Then we came home.

Our date night is going really great.  We are both tired which is strange due to the fact that we both had good sleeps.

The rest of our night is going to be relaxing.  We plan on doing nothing.

Kitten is sleeping right now.  She is being so super cute.  Her swollen paw has gone down which makes me really happy.

We got our second piece of mail today.  It was from Tyler's little cousin.  Little Gavin colored us a picture for our fridge.

The weather was alright today.  Its some times hard to tell because we are inside work all day long.

I am sleepy.

One more day till Friday.  I have a long weekend coming up, so that is sweet.

Midweek

Well today was Wednesday and the week is half over. Being on call hasn't been so bad so far. I wasn't able to sleep very well this week though. I never sleep the first night I am on call so that accounts for Monday's bad sleep, but not sure why I didn't sleep well last night. I haven't had any middle of the night calls so wish I could have that and sleep. The days have been going pretty slowly at work. It was slow today but I was able to get out on time at 5. Sonja only had to work until 12 today because the clinic is overstaffed every other day so she gets to only work half a day. So she came home after lunch and then went to the community center to run and work out. She batted a volleyball around.

We had potato skins with garlic and cheese for supper. We are watching My Name Is Earl, and I will probably make some popcorn again, as I am addicted and so is Sonja. Sonja wants some Cheerios so she will go get herself some instead of reading this over my shoulder.

That's it for today. Maybe I'll get called tonight and make some serious money

Salmon Run

Today turned into a good day. I say "turned into" because it started really horrible. And it was horrible because I was pretty grumpy and well, I'm not a huge fan of some of the people I work with. Any way, I'm not complaining, although I'm sure it sounds like I am. This morning came way to soon. I probably could have slept for another 4 hours. Of course if I was actually given the chance to sleep for another 4 hours, I probably would have waken up bright eyed and bushy tailed. Thats how life works.

Waking up this morning was difficult but it was accomplished after some whining and some help from Tyler. After a wake up shower, we ate breakfast which was, for me, puffed wheat mixed with cheerios. Tyler had honey nut cheerios. And then it was off to work. The combination of grumpy and incompetent co-workers makes for a bad morning. I think it was mostly the grumpy that did me in. I did get to talk with another co-worker who shares much of the same feelings and that made me feel better.

The day went by pretty quickly, not fast, but quickly. There is a difference, slightly. Soon the day was over and I came home, expecting Tyler to be right behind me. We decided that who ever was home first would make dinner, mainly because neither of us knew what we wanted to eat. I started to boil water, hoping to be inspired by a recipe on the back of the macaroni box. I made mac and cheese from scratch. Pretty much right away I knew it wasn't going to turn out as good as I hoped. I also did the dishes. Once Tyler came home, din din was ready.

We sat down and the mac and cheese was more of a soup then a regular pasta dish. It was pretty funny because I knew Tyler didn't really like it that much. It wasn't that great, but it was edible. I pretended that I thought it wasn't that bad to make Tyler say it was pretty good. It really wasn't that bad, just made incorrectly. Any way, I knew he really didn't like it when he told me that we didn't need to save the leftovers because re-heated pasta is never good. Just his excuse for not wanting to eat it tomorrow.

After din din, we went for a walk because it is finally not raining. HORRAY!! It was kind of cool out, but at least the sun is shining. I found out the community hall is open for sports every night of the week. Tonight was supposed to be badminton and the basket ball. We went a little early because the door was open. No one was in there, so we picked up a basket ball and started to play the game 21. I won the first game and I did pretty good. Tyler picked up his game in round 2 and then went on to win the tie breaker. We continued on our way and as we were walking up the hill, we noticed a flock of eagles around some houses. As we go closer, we saw that the homeowners were throwing chunks of salmon onto their driveway and watching the huge birds swoop down and pick it up. It was so cool. There were so many birds flying and swooping. It was neat to hear their tail feathers hit the ground because they scrape with suck force. We would show you all pictures, but this all happened on the one day we took a walk without our camera. We seriously could have snapped some really neat pictures as we were super close and they were swooping right towards us, wings all spread and stuff. It was pretty cool.

And now we are home. It was a good day after all. We are relaxing and Tyler is eating popcorn. Kitten is sitting watching the boats go by on her table.

The weather today was nice. It was a little cooler then it looked, but at least it wasn't raining. We can see the mountains on the mainland right now.

Not sure what the plans are for the rest of the night, probably more of the same as what we are doing right now. I will likely eat more cheerios because they are just so darn good.

Just a few more days till the weekend!!!

More rain

Well today we woke up and it was still raining. Three days in a row. It rained pretty steady most of the day. We went to work and it was pretty boring for me in the morning. After lunch it picked up a bit but still wasn't to bad. Sonja's day was boring in the morning too. She had to do telehealth stuff in the afternoon so she was kept busy. After work we came home and Sonja made supper. We had delicious chicken mashed potatoes and gravy. I am on call this week so we will see how it goes. I was called after supper but it was for a minute to fix a holter moniter. No plans for tonight. It is finally sunny. Maybe we'll go for a walk.

Rain wasn't supposed to be on the menu for the whole weekend but here
we are. A second day of on again off again pouring no good rain. It's
hard to do anything here when it rains most of the day and we have no
rain gear. We are looking into buying some so we aren't stuck inside.

It started with decent weather. We woke up at around 8:30 and ate
breakfast. We watched an episode of Planet Earth and we laughed a lot.
Tyler took a nap a few hours later. While he was sleeping, I went
outside and stretched, skipped, and watched the boats go by. It wasn't
raining when I did this so it was actually enjoyable. I'm not sure
what else we did today. We were going to go for a walk but then it
started to down pour again.
We watched My Name is Earl. We ate smoothies. We laughed. It was a
nice day even though it was hard to come up with stuff to do. Also our
Internet hasn't worked all day so this coming from Tys phone.

It's raining again. The rain here is different all the time. There is
the misty rain that actually soaks you quickly. There's the actual
rain that pours down stupidly. And then today it even hailed a little.

Kitten slept most of the day.

I found out at work that ever night at the community hall, there are
different sports to play. Volleyball is Monday and Wednesday. I'm
excited. It should be nice to meet new people and play sports again.

Well, that was our day. Sorry for the lack of excitment. Actually,
what is kind of cool is that we keep finding food in our house. Before
mom and dad left, they restocked some of our food. We recently found
bread and wings. It's really fun.

It rained

Well it seems that Jim and Lene brought the sunshine here with them and that they took it home when they left. It rained all day today so we kept inside for most of the day. I got up at 9 and did a little surfing on the Internet before it stopped working. Sonja got up a short time later. We had french toast for breakfast. We went to he store to buy groceries. It was pouring rain and we were soaked in the short walk to and from the store. After getting back from the store we did dishes and started some laundry. We also cleaned the rest of the house. Sonja vaccumed and I took out the garbage. The house is clean and the sink doesn't smell like rotting food. I put some liquid plumber in it to get rid of any clogging that was in there.

Since it was a pouring, miserable day our plans of hiking to a lake were ruined. We instead spent the day inside after cleaning. We watched Triple X and then I took a nap. I don't know what Sonja did but I slept. After I got up we had some food for supper. Sonja cooked some noodles and I had left over taco meat. We are now watching Transformers. I am glad that the cable here comes with a few movie channels otherwise these super rainy days would suck. Hopefully it clears up a bit overnight and stops raining at least. Right now we can't even see across the channel to the coast guard outpost. The rest of the night will probably consist of some popcorn and the rest of Transformers.

It appears that my parents stole the sun home with them. It was awesome and sunny all week, and then, since they left, it has been nothing but cloudy. Today it even rained in classic Bella Bella form, right before we both got off work. Kind of a pain as we had plans to go bike riding.

This morning started super early, with Kitten being a huge pain. It was 4:30am, and she was trying to shred some paper that we have on a dresser. I got up and put the paper in a drawer, kind of in that half a sleep, drousy, not sure if it's all real. She kept me awake most of the rest of the night. Surprisingly I'm not that tired for getting a horrible sleep.

The real morning didn't hold much excitement. I got up and showered while Ty slept in. I had said I would make French toast for breakfast, but then I really didn't feel like it so we had cereal again. I went to work at 8:3oam and what awaked me was something I haven't experienced before. When I got to work, I actually had work to do. I worked for a full 4 hours. I had to copy a patients chart. His entire chart, both sides of every piece of paper that this guy had in his chart for about 10 years. It actually felt good to not be wasting time but to actually be doing something constructive. But, I finished that job before lunch and after I got back from my break, I really had nothing to do. And then the Friday started to drag and minutes were taking forever.

Finally I was allowed to go home. As I was passing the lab where Ty works, one of the doctors was giving him some more work to do. He came home half an hour later. I made some tomato soup and then we went on a nice walk. The weather had cleared up a bit so we could do so without getting wet. It was a really nice walk. We actually found a place where we haven't been before. Once we walked up to it, we realized that we in fact have been there, but came to it from a different making it seem like a whole new place. It was exciting.

We walked over to the dump for some good eagle watching. There was a tree with 14 eagles in it. That was cool. We also saw an eagle try to balance on a wire. Since he was so huge, he had a very difficult time doing so.

And now we are back at home, watching The Next Karate Kid. It's a horrible movie, but its a little entertaining. Hillary Swank thinks she can act in this one...wrong!

As mentioned before, the weather today was most cloudy and it started to rain. We can still see the mountains on the mainland so that's a great sign.

Kitten has one alarmingly large paw. It makes me sad because it is significantly bigger then all the other ones. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it, no limping. The only sign of it being huge is the size.

Tonight, I have no idea what we are doing. Kitten is sleeping, Tyler is making popcorn and I think we plan on watching Planet Earth. When mom and dad came, I was given an awesome gift from Mormor and Morfar. They gave me another cross-stitch and I am so excited to make it.

This weekend the weather network says it's supposed to be pretty crappy weather out here, but I think we will be outside a lot. I really want to go for more walks around here. We will likely try to go on a bike ride tomorrow, if it's not totally down pouring on us.

It was so awesome having my parents out here and I miss them a lot. I'm super excited for coming back home in July to see family and friends.

Fresh Food

Readers discretion is advised. This post deals with violence and mature subject matter.

Today started out as any other. I woke up to early because of the cat being whiney, and Sonja tossing and turning wildly. We finally got up and had breakfast of cereal and talked with her parents before they left this afternoon. Sonja went to work at her regular time of 8:30 and I left shortly after. I was working the late shift so I had to stay until 5. The day kinda drug on. Playing clean up after the early shift. Then though, it was lunch and one of the doctors is getting married so Sonja's clinic put on a shower for him at lunch. I think it was more of an excuse to make some good food and eat it.

After the shower on my way back to work I was asked by a man if I wanted to buy some crab. He was on his bike holding a bucket of crab on the front biking down the street asking everyone. I look inside his bucket and sure enough, they were crabs. He was asking $6 per crab. I told him I would buy some but I had to come back to the apartment to get some cash. Jim and Lene were still here so I told them I bought some crab. I got the money and Ray, the crab guy asked if I knew how to clean them. I said no as I have never seen a crab so close before. He dumped his bucket and then asked which ones I wanted. Surprisingly they were still alive only out of the water 15 minutes, trying to crawl away on him. I picked the two biggest ones and watched him clean them. He did so with a quick flick of the wrist, peeled the top shell back like a sardine can, cleaned out the inards and pulled off the legs and claws. Since I didn't know if I even like crab I sent one and a half back home with Jim and Lene and kept half for ourselves.

Shortly after our crab purchase it was time to take them to the airport. We did that and waited until they boarded the plane before we went back to work. Before they left though they managed to go to the elders lunch that was put on, and had some traditional and untraditional food. They ate everything from seaweed soup and clamfritters, to Kraft Dinner.

The rest of the day drug on as nothing happened from 3 until I was off at 5. So it was really boring. After work though we came home and cooked up the crab. I asked Ray when I bought it how to cook it and he told me to boil it for 10-15 minutes and eat it with garlic butter. So we did just that. It was pretty good. Not very filling but good. It would have been better if we had crab crackers or something to get at the meat better than a fork.

We bought some garlic butter a few weeks ago to make garlic toast with and I never knew why this isolated town and its tiny band store stocked such a specialty item like garlic butter. But we now know it is for dipping crab into.

Sonja was just throwing the scrap crab to the eagles, trying to bait them for some good pictures, but they had bigger chunks of meat to fight over instead.

No real plans for the rest of the night. Maybe go for a walk. Eat some popcorn. Relax.

vacation in Bella Bella

Hi everyone. We are on vacation in Bella Bella and loving it. We are Sonja's parents and having way too much fun. We have been here since Saturday and have experienced many adventures. Sonja and Tyler took us kayaking one day so we could see the coast from that perspective. Sonja and Tyler have to work every day so Jim and I have been exploring this community without them. Every person we come across stops us to say hi, who are we, what are our children doing and so on. One lady stopped us to invite us to the Cultural Centre. We did stop by and was given a lesson on the history of Bella Bella. It was very informative and will recommend you stop there when you come for a visit. We took a walk to a lake that took us behind the town. Jim and I found the road that turned into the path and found the lake. Very beautiful. While we were enjoying our banana and the view, we spotted a black bear across the water. It was a very large bear and was rooting around looking for food. We packed up and left the lake immediately. Earlier that same day we spotted a seal in the water outside Sonja and Tyler's place. Where in the world can a person see a seal in the morning and a bear in the afternoon? So cool.
Today we were invited by the doctor at the hospital to catch a ride to the next community - Klemtu. We boarded the float plane this morning and arrived half an hour later. We were met by one of the nurses and given a quick tour of the town. Population - 320. The doctor went to work in the clinic along with the nurses that have been flown in. Jim and I toured the town. We stopped by a little cafe where we asked what there was to see. We walked to the fish hatchery and was greeted by a young man who was working there. He welcomed us in and answered all the questions we had. We were allowed to take pictures and found out they were coho salmon in the hatchery. 15,000 of them. Very interesting.
We walked to the clinic because we had been invited for lunch. All the staff were in attendance (all 7 of them) and we had an hour of good laughs and good stories. One of the staff made arrangements for a tour with one of the chiefs. Jim and I had a tour of the Big House. A very traditional long house complete with totem poles. Chief Brian answered all our questions and we took many pictures. Very traditional tribe.
We spent a few minutes on the rocks watching the water action. Lots of boats coming and going. We had missed the passing of 3 whales which everyone was excited about. Our float plane came in to meet us and before we knew it, it was time to come back to Bella Bella.
Tyler had supper cooking when we came in. I do have to tell everyone reading this, that Tyler and Sonja and great cooks.
The Heiltsuk tribe here in Bella Bella are extremely friendly and hospitable. Sonja and Tyler are certainly just as hospitable and anyone wanting to come out would not be disappointed.
We are leaving for home tomorrow and know we will miss this place and miss Sonja and Tyler more.

Elephant walk

Today was an alright day. It started with a pretty great sleep with limited kitty contact. When we woke up, Kitty was sleeping in the closet on Tyler's backpack.
We showered and ate a breakfast of cereal. It was great.
Work was boring. Didn't do anything exciting. Just regular old work. Lunch rolled around and Tyler and I walked home. We soon figured out that I forgot to bring a key and we were locked out. We were both really hungry and Tyler was kind of upset with me. I did take an orange with me from work, and I offered Tyler some, as a peace offering. He didn't take it.
Mom and Dad soon came home and we were able to eat some jam sandwiches. It was awesome that we got in there because Tyler might not be talking to me still.
After lunch, while at work, I was talking with co-workers. They said I should ask the doctor if mom and dad could go with him up to Klemtu, a little community that has no doctors on site.
Meanwhile, mom and dad have been walking around town making plans of their own. I found out that they were scheming with a totem pole maker. They want to go salmon fishing with any one who will take them. We are still waiting for the phone call from totem guy to see if he could arrange a boat for them.
Tonight was a great night too. I cooked din din tonight. And man it was great. It was chicken cooked with parmesan cheese and some other great stuff. I also made gravy from scratch and mom made some mashed potatoes. It was the best meal I have made yet. I can't wait to make it again. As mom and I did the dishes, Tyler and dad went and got some hogan-dogan ice cream.
We then played Phase 10. Mom won, for the second time. It was a great night filled with laughs and good times. All of us have the Elephant walk song in our heads and every time we would make a move in the game, we would either whistle, sing, or hum the song. It was hilarious but also annoying as now that song will be in my head for the rest of the night, and probably will seep into my dreams. I love having my parents here with us. It's great to hear what they have been doing all day. Surprisingly, they have been able to find lots of stuff to do. Whether it's going to the dump for some prime eagle shots, or talking it up with the local totem pole carvers. Its great to spend time with them again.
Today was really nice and hot. I got stuck in a sweater because the zipper kind of sucks. But the weather was awesome. This morning, the water was calm and beautiful. It is now a little darker out, a little cloudy, but the sun is shining on the peaks on the mountains. It's very beautiful.
Kitty was being so silly today. Running around being cute and sweet. I love that cat. She is also happy her grand mama and grand papa are here.
For the rest of the night, we will probably watch Americas got Talent for another half hour. Tomorrow will come all to early as always.

Sorry for the late post. The Phase 10 game went a little longer then expected.
Today was a great day.

Monday, June 7, 2010

Just to catch everyone up on some things that Sonja forgot to mention last night. While we were kayaking home Jim had a seal swim under his kayak, and then swam off. After the kayak trip we went for a walk down the street and we saw some guys carving some logs. They were hired to carve some logs into mini totem poles for some resort across the bay. They were made of second generation west coast cedar. These logs were huge, 36 inches across. It was surprising that trees are that big when they were likely 70 years old at the most. I can't even imagine how big old growth trees would be, being several hundred years old. We came home and watched the squadron of eagles fight over fish scraps left on the dock. That was cool because they would have the fish, and then another eagle would come from underneath flip themselves over and steal the chunk of meat from the other eagles talons. Then the new owner of the meat would drop it and the next eagle chasing him would pluck it up out of mid air and fly away with it. After all this we played Phase 10 and I lost pretty soundly.

Today was a pretty slow day for me. Mondays are apparently the slowest day of the week here so maybe it will pick up later in the week. Sonja and I had cereal for breakfast before going off to work. It was kinda cloudy in the morning as it clouded up last night and then started to rain. It actually rained for a few hours before clearing up and turning into a nice day. Jim and Lene spent most of the day in Shearwater. They took a walk this morning before heading over and were invited to swing by the cultural center sometime to learn about Bella Bella. Over in Shearwater they were looking for an excursion or fish trip or something that they could do to spend some time, but were told that most of those don't start up until later in the spring, so in a couple weeks after they leave here. But they were given a name of somebody here in Bella Bella who would probably take them around and maybe out fishing, so I think they are going to try to track this guy down tomorrow.

We had tacos for supper and Sonja and Lene did the dishes and then I came to start this blog. As I started to type this we noticed some eagle activity outside. Lene went out onto the deck with the camera, as she is determined to get the perfect picture of an eagle before they leave, and was waiting for it. Standing at the railing watching the commotion when a pair of eagles were fighting, falling from the sky right in front of her. She jumped and screamed and backed away from the railing. Her and Sonja were watching them fight over food some more.

We have no real plans for the night, as we are all kinda tired. Just watch the eagles and relax.

Thats all for now.

It was a good day!!!

Today was a really awesome day. First of all, we got to sleep in and actually slept through the night as Kitty was else where. Second of all, it was a fantastic day. The sun was shinning and the water was calm.

We all woke up and got out of bed around the same time. I made some French toast for breakfast and didn't burn it, which always a plus. It's so great to have mom and dad out here to enjoy all this with us. After breakfast, we decided to go out kayaking right away. It was a beautiful day on the water. We went down to the ferry terminal and went to the next stick out point. Tyler was saying his legs were completely asleep so we docked our kayaks on the shore. The water was pretty cold but nothing we couldn't take. As Tyler was stepping out of his kayak, he pretty much fell right over and looked really silly as he couldn't feel his legs. He couldn't even try to brace himself against a rock as they are all covered in sharp barnacles. We all sat on the rocks and talked. It was very peaceful and relaxing, and very warm.

I noticed a pair of eyes looking at us. A little seal was curious about what was going on and he was fairly close. I pointed and exclaimed that there was a seal there, and mom basically squealed, while at the same time dad turned around on the rocks, and Tyler went to get the camera. It was a little too scary for the seal and he splashed away. We saw him pop up a little further out in the water. He was so cute! That was pretty cool. After the excitement, we decided to make our way across the channel to see if we could find an old Totem pole that is apparently out there somewhere. We crossed and went further south. We have no idea where it is, so we ended up turning back to come home. By the time we all made it home, it was 2 hours later and we were all pretty tired.

We put the gear back and headed out on to the deck. It was so warm. We continued to talk and eat salty snacks. It's so good to have my parents out here. Especially when mom says stuff like, "That was the highlight of my year so far", referring to the fact that we just got home from a kayaking trip on the ocean.

For the rest of the afternoon, we watched barges go by, talked. We went for a walk down to the local pier, watched kids jump off the government pier.

We just finished dinner, which was super tasty. Tyler had marinated deer tenderloin and I made mashed potatoes, all while talking about how exciting it is that mom is becoming a grandmama, and all that. Mom and Tyler washed dishes as I started this blog. Then we went on another short little walk to the end of the rock pier. It was a lot windier then it looked, therefore it was cooler then we wanted.

We are now watching the hockey game, watching Kitty race around, going crazy for a tiny piece of paper. We will probably play some Phase 10 later tonight. I love having my mom and dad out here. It's fun seeing how excited they are for us to be living here

Visitors

Well today was Saturday. We woke up this morning after being able to sleep in a little bit, 9 o'clock. We got up and remembered that we needed to get groceries, and finish cleaning up the house before Sonja's parents came. So we went out and it was cloudy but not a miserable morning. It was warm with just a t-shirt on. We got all of our groceries except for milk. We will get some tomorrow after 4 when the ferry comes in and they get it stocked on the shelfs. We came home and unpacked the groceries. Sonja made us smoothies for breakfast because we bought some almost to ripe bananas, so we decided to use them up. While we were eating our smoothies I played some Wii and Sonja watched.

Around noon we heard the plane come in and it was time for us to go pick up Sonja's parents, Jim and Lene. After we got into the car, I put it in reverse and went to go. Unfortunately the car isn't used to moving since it made it out here for us, and the rear tires locked up. I rocked it a little bit and it loosened up. Maybe the salt air seized up the brake cord and needed to be loosened. On the way there we almost hit an eagle, or the eagle almost flew into us. We met them at the airport and brought them back to our place. After they settled in we went for a walk around the town and eagle watched. We went onto the pier and watched the boats and the water. There were lots of starfish in the water, and empty crab shells. We walked back to our place along the beach. Jim went and did his crossword and Sonja, Lene and I sat at the table. Time went by and then it was time to make supper. So I made lasagna and it was delicious. We cleaned up and I went to gather the kayaking stuff for hopefully tomorrow. The day turned out nice and is supposed to be again tomorrow but only time will tell.

No real plans for the rest of the night as Jim and Lene are on vacation. Maybe we'll play some phase ten and eat smoothie. That is all for now.

Friday, June 4, 2010

Finally it's Friday. What a grand day! It's more awesome now that work is over. Today was boring and slow.

It started out with a pretty great sleep. We slept in a bit so we didn't do anything fancy for breakfast. Just cereal, but I love cereal so thats not so bad.

Work seemed to last forever. Nothing happened. There really isn't much else to say. I could talk about how my boss blames everyone else for her own problems. One interesting thing happened. There will be a day in about a week and a half were a bunch of diabetic patients will be coming in and seeing a doctor. They needed someone to take blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, and pulse rate. I told them that I have done blood sugar before, back when I took one year of an LPN program. They jumped all over that. Another woman took me into a room, where I practiced taking BP, and blood sugars. I am now officially going to be doing that on real people. It's scary how they will let me do that. I am not qualified at all. That's the kind of place we live in.

The weather was really nice today, so after work, we went for a walk. It was a little windy but it was nice to get out of the apartment and enjoy the outside. Now it has clouded over. I really hope the weather is good for when Mom and Dad are out here.

I am so excited to see them again. They will be arriving at 12:30pm tomorrow. Still not sure what we will do, but I figure we can start with a walk around town, show them the sites around here, take them to our place, show them the fabulous view. I know Mom really wants to see Kitty again. She will probably cuddle with her for a few hours. We plan on going kayaking if the weather holds out. I hope we see a whale. That would make the trip out here worth it I think.

Right now, Tyler is making some popcorn, I'm watching the news. I really can't stand watching all that news about the oil spill. All those pictures about the birds covered in oil...isn't any one doing something for them? It makes me sooo soo sad. Why don't we see any news footage of people cleaning all those poor animals off. It's not fair to them that because of something stupid people did, they all have to suffer and die. It sickens me!! My head hurts now.

Good thing Kitten is so cute. She makes me feel better, as does Tyler.

Mini Friday

Well it was a kinda slow day for me again. Kind of a disappointment because I was just getting used to it being somewhat steady. Last night was a good sleep though. It was nice to sleep through the night. I got up and showered and Sonja made french toast for breakfast. It was raining again this morning when I went to work. The forecast is supposed to change for tomorrow until Tuesday, but the forecast is usually the opposite unless it says rain. So we will see what the next week will actually do. Lunch finally came and we had leftover lasagna for lunch and relax for an hour before going back to the dull work day. This afternoon I pretty much did nothing all afternoon. I sorted out some paper and stood around most of the time. It was finally time to go home. I came home and called Tony to go over wedding, bachelor party details. While I was talking to him I saw a seal swimming around in front of the house. At first I thought he was a dog until he went under the water and was down there for more than a minute. He disappeared just as I was getting the camera ready. So apparently seals are camera shy, because we have now seen three and have zero pictures of them. Sonja came home at five and wasn't feeling good so she stopped by and talked to a doctor before coming home. She wasn't feeling good last night and thought it was heartburn, but it was continuing all day. When she got home she gave me a prescription to fill, it said, "Head massage 5 times a day as requested by patient." I got a good laugh about that, I guess thats what happens when you work for the doctors and they have few patients booked. I made chicken pitas for supper and watched the news.
Last night there were probably 25 eagles on the rock pier. Someone must have put fish guts out there for them all to eat and fight over.
No real plans for the night. Watching Planet Earth and just finished some popcorn. Hopefully a good sleep again.

Go Hawks Go!!

So, just watching the hockey game. I'm cheering for the Blackhawks and Ty is cheering for the Flyers. It's a pretty crazy game but that's what makes it worth watching.

Today started with cloud, mist and both of us were sleepy. We even slept in for half an hour. We didn't do anything special for breakfast, just cereal. I like cereal though, so its okay. I had cheerios mixed with puffed wheat. Crunchy and soft is the best way to go. Tyler had honey nut cheerios and has become rather possessive of them. I'm not allowed to have any but that's okay. We both went to work and my day started to fall apart.

My boss was not in a good mood which makes me not in a good mood. She likes to talk to herself except when she is mad, she just is grumpy with herself. When she gets off the phone, she bad talks them. I am supposed to fax medical tests and what not over to Klemtu, a community that doesn't have doctors, but I have no idea which patients are from there, therefore I have no idea which papers need to be faxed. I basically don't end up faxing anything because I have no idea who needs to be faxed. I pretty much have had to grow up here to know which patients are from Klemtu or from Bella Bella. Any way, my boss got a few phone calls asking us to fax the tests results or whatever over. When she hung up the phone, she basically yelled at no one saying, "This is the second time I've had to do this. We aren't faxing the right stuff over." Now, you have to imagine a grumpy large woman saying that very angrily to really get the true effect. She made me able to hear it, but didn't offer any advice on how to improve. I was mad at her so I didn't ask either. It's one of those things that isn't really that serious so I don't care that much.

So, I wasn't in a good mood going into lunch, but Tyler helped by letting me vent to him and I went back to work with a better attitude. The day went a little better, but slow. I can't even say what I did today because I don't remember. It really wasn't that great of a day at work.

I did have cheese cake at break though. It had marshmellows, which was odd, but it was really good.

I got home to the smell of lasagna. It just had to go in the oven for a few minutes. I am so lucky to have a husband who can cook. It was so good. He also made garlic bread. It was so good and the best part is that now we have left overs for a few days.

Today it rained. It actually rained, not just a little sprinkle here and there, it actually rained. It was cold. And now it's just cloudy.

The coolest thing we saw this morning was an eagle fishing. It was swooping and almost caught something. It must have known we were watching as it missed. Shy little guy!

Tonight, we will watch the rest of the hockey game, eat some popcorn, I don't know.

Tyler went out and bought Kitty some dry food. It's made with chicken, which she is allergic to, but at least she can eat now. I hope she doesn't scratch her face off again.

Well, I hope those who go to sleep at 9 have a chance to read this. I know there was some debate on what time we should blog at...I hope this makes some people happy.

That's all for now folks!

Love you all
Sonja

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Today was a pretty good day. We were able to sleep better. Either we are getting more tired and the cat doesn't bother us so much, or the cat isn't as restless anymore. So we got up only a little bit less tired then every other day this week. We had cereal for breakfast and watched the news before going to work. Work was pretty good. It was actually kinda steady which helped the day go by quicker. It was a good reminder of what a busy place is like. It was sunny this morning, but quickly turned overcast and started to rain for the rest of the day. The fortunate thing about the rain here is that it is warmer than when it rains in Alberta. After work I cleaned up the guest room, put the boxes away and such. Sonja came home and made supper. We had grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. After supper I ran the internet cable under the baseboards to hide it and kinda get it out of the way a little bit. So if anyone is sending us a letter or something, a few finishing nails would be excellent to keep it where I need it. After that we watched Dangerous Catch on Discovery channel and are now watching Wipeout. We are realizing that Discovery is quickly becoming our favorite channel. The rest of the night is up in the air. Unfortunately these posts are pretty boring when the weather isn't great, and we are stuck at work all day.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading.
