After many months of wondering and questioning and frustration, I finally know when my last day of work will be, or should I say was. I was told yesterday that today would by my last day of work. Actually, it was just my last consecutive day of work. According to my contract and the rules, I still have 5 more working days at that detachment. The bosses thought it would be best to save and use those days when they really need a second person in there. It would be a waste to be there when nothing is happening or my services aren't really needed. So, I will be called when they really need me and when they figure out what is really happening with that position. It still isn't clear but at least now I know how it might play out.
I couldn't get to sleep last night at all. I was too excited for today. Tyler got called into work late last night even after we tried to get a good nights sleep. He suddenly was in bed after what I thought was only a few minutes.
I got out of bed today excited for what today held. I knew we were going out for breakfast at Shearwater and I kind of knew it would be a slowish day, as they almost always are. The first hour of the day was spent doing all the little stupid tasks that usually occupy my days.
Then we headed over to eat some food. I was looking forward to it all week. Once we arrived, we sat down and ordered some food. I asked for apple juice and french toast. After some conversation and waiting, our food was brought out. Placed before me was a neat row of pancakes with some bacon on the side. I looked at it and was disappointed and then sent it back. 10 minutes later, they brought out my french toast. I was the last one to finish eating and it was so good. There wasn't enough butter on it but it was so good.
We got back to the office to do about an hour or so of work before lunch. I didn't have to eat anything for lunch because I was so stuffed from this morning.
I got back to work for an afternoon of moderately relaxing work. Hardly any phone calls came in so I was free to look through the time sheets again. And then, as quickly as I got the job, it was over. I went to the back and worked out for a bit. I did a light workout because it was my last day and I felt like being lazy.
While I was leaving, I told the guys to call me for any guarding they need done. And they all agreed too. It's pretty reassuring when they say I'll be the first to be called for every person who needs it. I like that. I guess I proved to be a hard worker and they like that.
I got home and soon after, so did Tyler. Our friend stopped by for a few minutes to talk about our day and then we ate some leftover lasagna. We are getting pretty sick of lasagna after having to eat it for the last 3 meals.
Our evening has been pretty relaxing. I'm looking forward to cross-stitching and watching movies all night. It's early to bed for us again tonight. And hopefully a last rise. Kitten was walking all over my pillow last night, wanting to be scratched. Why does it seem that when you don't have to wake up the next day, you aren't as tired during the working hours as in the middle of the week? It doesn't make much sense.
Any way, Tyler is making some hummingbird juice for the sweet little birds that suck that up. It's crazy how quickly they drink that stuff. We plan on going for a walk because Tyler has a hankering for ice cream sandwiches. I think I'll have a bite of one too.
It's going to be a great weekend. We don't have anything planed but I love spending time with Tyler.
Have a good weekend.
Sonja
