Sun and sun burn

I woke up exhausted this morning, so I hit the snooze button and stayed in bed for another 10 minutes.  I then rolled out of bed and hopped into the shower.  I had breakfast and watched some TV and surfed the internet.  I was off to work.  It was a mostly slow day for me.  Which was too bad because it was gorgeous outside.

I came home for lunch and found Sonja sitting out on the deck in the sun.  I made a sandwich and joined her out there.  It was nice to eat lunch out there.  I had to go back to work however and continued my slow day.  It seems that summer is here and it will be slow until December again.

The end of the day finally rolled around I came home.  We were going out kayaking to enjoy the sun.  There was a little bit of a problem though.  Some one had taken the key to the shed that all the equipment is stored in.  Luckily they hadn't left yet.  I was able to track her down and get they key.  We quickly got ready and went down to the sea to start on our way.  We went down to where there is a totem pole on Denny Island.  We got out and took a look at it a little closer.  It is pretty cool and very old looking.  Apparently no one knows who carved it.  We got back into the kayak and continued on our way.  The nurse who had the key originally came out with us.  We went to see grave island between here and Shearwater.  Again we got out to look around and stretch our legs.  Sonja got a little bit of sun burn kayaking and with her walk she went on this afternoon.

We came back home because we hadn't eaten yet and we were getting tired.  So Sonja and I came home.  We got home just after 6.  We had some spaghetti and meat sauce, complete with garlic bread.  It was good and I ate way to much.  I am not feeling to great now that it is done.

Since we had a pretty great day we are just relaxing watching some TV.

Monday

Oh yet another fabulous Monday come and gone, and what have we learned today.  I learned that cloudy days muffles the sound of the Disney cruise ship horn.  It came again today and I was all excited to hear the horn echo through the islands but it didn't echo as much as not go any where.

I didn't have the best sleep, but what's new?  I got out of bed and ate some breakfast.  I think I had cottage cheese and fruit.  It was really good.  I started playing DDR until Tyler came home for lunch.  We sat and talked and enjoyed each other's company until he had to go back to work.

My afternoon was pretty lame.  I had to go into work to fill out a time sheet and while I was there I started talking with one of the cops there.  He talked about all these tv shows he has watched and how awesome they are.  We agreed to exchange a series each.  So now I am watching a vampire show.  It's not really that bad.  It's called True Blood and it's getting better as it goes along.  So this afternoon was spent watching that while working frantically on getting my cross stitch.  I'm going to finish it tomorrow.  I know I will.  I have to because I have another project that I have to get done in a month.  I'm not going to tell you what it is because it's another gift but it's going to be awesome and I have to be done by the time we get home.

Speaking of coming home, we will be on our way, flying over the Rockies into Alberta in one month.  And I can't wait.  We also finalized the dates we plan on being with each side of our family.  I now have to email friends and family so they are available when I am in Sherwood Park.

It wasn't nice outside at all.  It poured this morning and although it didn't rain all day, it might as well of. It was cloudy and sort of miserable out the whole day.  But, it was a little warm.

I can't wait to get home and see family and friends.

Foggy on Sunday

Today wasn't great for sleeping in like I had hoped for.  I woke up at 6:30 and couldn't really go back to sleep.  I was fed up around 8:30 and got out of bed.  I came out to the living room and did a little bit of studying.  I studied for about an hour and then was tired of being up by myself and the cat, so I started breakfast.  It seems like that always gets Sonja up just when it is finishing cooking.  I made some pancakes and we ate them before going out for groceries.

We came back and saw the seabus coming so we quickly put the groceries away.  We rushed back to the dock to get on the seabus.  We were going over to Shearwater to the greenhouse they have over there.  We wanted to get some grass seed for our little patch of dirt.  So we got on the boat and found out it wasn't leaving for another half hour.  So we rushed for nothing.  We just sat on the seabus and waited until noon came around to leave.  We had originally planned on kayaking over, but the weather was cloudy and looked like it might rain on us, so we opted for the bus.

We got over there and didn't know where the greenhouse was, so we walked around looking for it.  We finally found it and went inside for our grass seed.  They had some so it was easy and we went to the restaurant for lunch.  It was good.  I had a burger and Sonja had a turkey sandwich.  We saw the seabus coming back so we rushed and paid for our meal and got back on the bus for the trip back.

We got back and I dug up the dirt and bit and tried to plant the grass.  I hope it works out.  I didn't have a rake to even it out very well, so I used a piece of plywood to kinda spread it out.  Next was trying to water it.  We had a watering can, but it didn't have a diffuser to spread the water out.  I poked some holes in a water bottle and held that to the spout of the watering can to water our new lawn evenly.

Hopefully it will grow, it will be nice to see something other that rocks or dirt out there.

After I was done that I vacuumed and tidied up a bit as we were having people over for cards.  The rest of the afternoon was relaxing waiting for our friends to show up.  When they did we played some Dutch Blitz.  I think I won the most games, however Sonja would probably argue that.

We are just winding down and getting ready for bed.  Back to work tomorrow for me, but one month tomorrow we will be coming home again.  We are getting really excited.

Cat Crack!

So about a week ago, Tyler bought me a little bag of gold fish crackers.  I had a few and then left the bag out on the table when we went to bed last week.  In the middle of the night, I hear Kitten digging away at something.  I get up and find the bag of gold fish on the ground with Kitten hovering over it.  She squawks away in her "I wasn't doing anything Mom," way as I out the bag in a cupboard where she can't reach it.  Through out the week, I occasionally remember that I have this little treat and eat a few here and there.  As soon as I open that bag, Kitten is at my feet wanting a little bite.  I always give her a tail or half of a body.  And then tonight.  Tonight I brought the bag out and Kitten was right there next to me.  Her eyes got really big and wide and she started crawling on me.  She really wanted some of those gold fish.  What a crazy cat.  These things are like crack to her.  It's pretty cute.

My day started at 4:30pm when I woke up.  Now before you jump to conclusions that I'm extremely lazy, let me tell you that I worked 12 hours last night, guarding someone who was drunk.  I got a call last night at 8:45pm so I went in.  I brought the computer and a few seasons of My Name is Earl and my cross stitch.  I still don't know how you can be that drunk that early in the evening.  Any way, it was a long night.  I almost fell asleep a few times and it was hard to keep my eyes open.  I had to stand up for the last 2 hours of my shift so I wouldn't fall asleep.

I came home this morning at 9ish am and went straight to sleep.  I was so sad that I didn't get to enjoy what was looking like a really great day.  It was clear and sunny and calm outside.  But I slept all day long.  Tyler woke me up at 4:30pm.

After I ate a bit of breakfast food, I heard Tyler doing the dishes.  I joined him in the kitchen, making dinner and help drying the dishes.  I made the most tasty chicken I have ever made and I want more of it.  It was soooo good.  I wish I made the gravy and potatoes to go with it.  But we had it with corn which was also so tasty.

After dinner, I worked out and then we went on a walk.  It was so gorgeous outside.  It seriously felt like  we were camping and I loved every moment of it.  I loved outside today.  That walk made me love this place.  I actually love living out here on days like this.

And now we are just relaxing.  I'm still tired and I'm looking forward to going to sleep tonight.

Kitten is now sleeping right above me on the couch, coneless.  She is all stretched out with her head tilted to the side.  She is just so cute.

End of the week.  Finally.  I have been really tired this week, based on the fact that I was unable to sleep in last weekend, due to work.  So that added up to me being tired all week.  I am hoping to get to bed and get a good sleep tonight into tomorrow.

I woke this morning and was really tired.  I drug myself out of bed and got ready for work.  I showered and had breakfast, and watched some TV before going off to work.  I was busy enough today that it wasn't boring.  Nothing exciting happened.  A little bit of blood work and mostly had to keep myself busy doing more small jobs in the lab.  One of the things I have been working on is fixing up and re-organizing our binders of manuals.  I was able to condense 8 binders into 3, which is a pretty good feat I think.

I came home from work at 4 and Sonja and I went to pay our internet bill.  Since it was nice out this afternoon we then continued for a walk around town.  As we were circling around we noticed a lot of eagles flying around and sitting in the trees and squawking.  We finally found the reason why they had congregated.  There was someone cleaning their salmon and feeding the eagles the scraps.  We stood on the road and watched them swoop for the meat and take off for their tree or perch to eat it.  They were also fighting each other for the meat.  One eagle had his tail pulled by an older eagle trying to get the fish.  It was pretty fun to see them do that.

We continued on our way and made it home.  When we got home we started on supper and watched some hockey.  I am waiting to see who my new favorite team is, to beat Vancouver for the cup.  Its looking like it will be Boston, they just scored to make it 1-0 with 5 minutes left in the game.

But as I said earlier we are tired and don't have anything exciting planned for tonight.

Thursday

Today was another pretty awesome day!  Last night was a different story though.  A sad story of being woken up by little Miss. Kitty crawling over my head and pulling my hair.  What a brat!  She was also walking over to Tyler so I got out of bed and went to Kitten's room.  I don't like it when she wakes Tyler up because he actually has to work in the morning.  So I went to the other bed and tried to sleep.  But Kitten wanted to go under the blanket and then she wanted to be scratched on the head and then she wanted to lay on my arm.  She was everywhere and it started to drive me crazy.  But then I fell asleep.  I woke up a little while later to find her looking out the window to a lightening sky.  I decided to head back to my own bed.

I didn't feel Tyler get out of bed this morning.  I know I was really tired when him moving around and getting stuff in our room didn't make me wake up.  I finally got out of bed at a little after 9 this morning.  I wanted to spend more time in bed but I knew I couldn't do that.  It's a waste of a day.

I got out of bed and ate some breakfast.  I had cottage cheese with roasted almonds and a kiwi.  It was a surprisingly filling breakfast for being kind of small.  During breakfast I turned on the tv and was watching some tennis.  I really enjoy watching that sport but I don't really know why.  It's pretty boring but for some reason, I think it's a little exciting.

After I got sick of watching tennis, I did my workout and showered.  I got a text from Tyler, asking me to bring $5 for him at work.  I did so and found out there was a looney auction at his work today.  He wanted the Eskimo hat because he figured he would be the only one who would bid on it.  Unfortunately it didn't work out that way.  They put all the tickets into a box and drew from there.  So he didn't win the hat or anything in the end.

Throughout the day, I did a few things.  I ate some food, I cross-stitched, I watched a little pod of porpoises go by, I watched a movie that reminded me of my mom.  I watched "Date Night".  I remember mom thinking that was the funniest movie ever and it really was.  It was nice to watch something that reminded me of home.  I really miss home these days, probably because we are coming home pretty soon.

My evening has been boring.  Tyler didn't come home till 5 and then had to go back to work at 6 for a video conference.  He came home again and then called David.  And he just got off the phone now.  So I feel like I haven't seen him at all today and it's almost the end of the day.

That's been my day.  Tyler is trying to convince me to play "lumberjack" on a log that is floating in the water outside.  I wouldn't want to embarrass him so I said no :)

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Today is the midpoint of the week.  We tried to go to bed early but were kept awake by the Sharks failing to win the hockey game last night and going into double overtime.  Instead we ended up going to bed at a regular time.  Tonight we will of course try again tonight and see what happens.

I was awoken up just after 6 by a text message.  I was unfortunately able to get back to sleep.  I rolled myself out of bed after the alarm went off and got into the shower.  After I got out I heard Sonja moving around and found that she had gotten up as well.  We had breakfast together, which was nice because she doesn't get up that early anymore that she's not working.  However I had to go to work.  I went and it was a pretty slow day.  Nothing really happened I had to find myself work projects to stay busy and make the day go by.

I came home for lunch and enjoyed the last piece of leftover pizza.  It was still good.  I can't wait till we have it again.  It seemed that lunch was way to short, as soon I was off to work again to work towards the end of the day.  The afternoon was much like the morning.  It was over shortly though and I was back home in the comfort of our home.

Sonja was just starting to get supper ready.  We were having Royal Chicken, which is pretty much the same as classy chicken, but with an added ingredient of bacon.  The bacon made it that much better.

After supper we went for a quick walk around town and came back.  we are now just relaxing watching TV and Sonja is stitching.  She is getting close to finishing her project and she is getting really excited about finishing it.

Today was a good day.  And I'm pretty tired now that we are nearing the end of it.  I was busy and it felt really good.

I had a really decent sleep but I know Tyler didn't.  He got out of bed a few times because he wasn't feeling so great.  I slept through it all which was nice of him to be quiet for me.

When Tyler left for work this morning, he woke me up and I got out of bed right away.  I enjoy sleeping in but it really eats up my day when I spend the morning in bed.  It was 8:15 when I got up.  I ate some tasty breakfast of fruit and yogurt and then got started on my workout.  It was a really intense workout too and a great start to the day.

I showered, got dressed and headed in to work.  As I was walking there, I looked out into the channel to see another cruise ship floating past.  It was Holland America, the one Tyler and his family took a few years ago when they went to Alaska.  I think it's pretty neat that he sailed past this place and had no idea we would be living here.  Once at work, I had to complete the guard time sheet audit so my boss could do a full report on what I happen to find.  I found a lot but I think that's not something I can share in this blog.  That took about an hour to finish up.

I came home to join Tyler for lunch.  We had leftover pizza and it was just as good the second time.  Tyler left for work and I started to cross-stitch.  I also turned on the tv to watch a big of jeopardy and house hunters on HGTV.  As soon I start watching that show, I'm immediately interested in what kind of homes are on the market that I would want to buy.  I almost always end up on the internet, looking for a house we might be able to afford at some point in our lives.  It's fun.

I did some cross-stitching until Tyler came home.  He said he would make dinner, which ended up being Schwarties and it was SOO good.  Since I need a little more then just potatoes for dinner, I finished off with a kiwi.  And now we are watching the hockey game.  I'm starting to really dislike the Canuks.  I really just want to see them lose.  I'm not sure what it is but I just really don't like that team.

It's been a pretty good day.  An early start has allowed the day to last forever.  I'm ready for bed though. But I think I'm going to eat some cheese instead.  Turns out just a kiwi and hash browns don't fill me up.

Monday, May 23, 2011

I woke up around 8 again today which totally sucked because I was looking forward to sleeping in and catching up on some sleep that I have been missing from earlier in the weekend.  But I didn't so I got out of bed and surfed the internet a little bit before doing some studying.  I studied until Sonja woke up.  We sat on the couch for a bit.  I got up to get a glass of water or something and looked outside and saw an eagle sitting below our deck.  So I got our camera and tried sneaking to the rail to take a picture.  I got one and looked up the channel and saw a ship coming.  It was enormous.  One of the biggest ones we have seen out here.  Immediately we were able to tell it was a cruise ship.  Since it was sunny outside we decided to go out on the spit and watch it go by.  I grabbed my fishing rod and Sonja grabbed the camera and a lawn chair.  So I went and started casting and we waited for the ship to go by.  It blew its horn, do-do-do-do-do-do-doooo.  It was the tune When You Wish Upon A Star, and it echoed down the channel.  Immediately we knew it was a Disney cruise ship.  There were two Mickey Mouse silhouette on the smoke stacks.  There were a bunch of people on the deck watching us as they went by.  Probably wondering, People live here?  As a side note, I also caught two fish before I snagged a rock and had to snip my line.

We came back in once my line caught.  We were hungry so I made some sausage McMuffins to eat.  It was super tasty.  We ate them on the deck, in the sun.  We finished up and started on lunch.  We were planning on pizza, so of course that takes some time.  I was cooking the bacon and chicken for it and Sonja made the dough.  After that was done, we set the dough to rise and went back outside.  We decided to get rid of all the rocks that are on our deck/back yard and we are thinking we will plant some grass there so we have somewhere to hang out when it is nice.  So the rocks are now gone and so are the weeds and we are ready for the grass.  We will try to go Shearwater to the greenhouse there sometime this week and see if they have anything, otherwise we'll have to order some online.

We finished that up and it was time for the pizza to go into the oven.  We ate shortly after.  Again the pizza was so good.  We are super good at making one kind of pizza.  After lunch we went for a walk around town to enjoy the sunshine.

We came home and relaxed for a couple hours.  We went over to my boss's for supper and a game of cards at five.  We had ham and it was good.  We came home and watched a little bit of TV and I made some popcorn.

We will probably go to bed soon as I have to wake up early for work.

Tyler

Today was an awesome day.  It didn’t start that way though.  Kitten was being a huge pain in the butt last night.  She came and visited about 9 times last night.  First she was scratching on the bed, then she was trying to eat the lamp cord.  At a few points she laid on my stomach, making sure it was soft enough for her to lay on.  She just wanted some attention and unfortunately for her, it was too early in the morning.  I did get up with her a few times.  Eventually, it was 6:30 in the morning and I couldn’t get back to sleep, mostly because Tyler was breathing really loud.  Every time he breathed in, his mouth made a clicking sound and since I was listening for it, it kept me awake.  So I moved into Kitten’s room and shared her bed.  And she still pestered me.  She wanted to get under the blanket and then out of the blanket.  What a little turkey.  And then I finally was able to get back to sleep.

I woke up when Tyler was getting up for work.  He had another call back this morning and I only stayed in bed a few minutes after he left.  I had some working out to do.  Since I worked all Saturday morning and slept all Saturday, I wasn’t able to get in my daily routine so I had to do 2 routines today.  I find that most of the time I don’t really want to do it, but once I get started, it’s actually pretty fun and it feels really good to get moving like that.  I have to do 2 tomorrow again.

After my work outs, I showered and Tyler came home.  When I got out of the shower, the living room was in ruins.  Tyler was doing a huge clean up and had moved all the furniture away from the walls.  I really wanted to re-arrange the whole place but there is only a few ways to do that, and none of them looked that great in my head.  And if I moved one couch under the window, the wall would look so bare.  So, It’s the exact same in here minus all the dust behind the couches.

Our afternoon was spent watching a hockey game, running to the store and enjoying the weather.  It was beautiful here today.  I did a bit of cross-stitching and just hung out together.  It was a nice way to spend the day.

At 6:30, we went to our friends house to play some Phase 10.  A new nurse is in town so we met her and played a game.  She went kayaking later in the evening and we continued to play.  It was a really fun night.  We then went down to the beach where we started a fire.  It was a really awesome fire.  It was so hot and kept us all warm all night long.

We just got home.  It was such a great night and it’s been a really awesome May long weekend.  We are now heading to bed because it is late and we are tired.  I hope to sleep in tomorrow morning and enjoy another day with Tyler.

Saturday, May 21, 2011

Last night I didn't sleep very good last night.  We went to bed around 11 and I fell right to sleep.  It was decent until Sonja's cell phone rang.  She was called into guard at 2:30.  I went back to sleep and sort of went back to sleep.  Shortly after the cat decided that she wanted to join me, however the door was closed so she was just scratching on the door and making noise.  I let her in to shut her up, so I could go back to sleep.  Plan failed.  She kept walking back and forth around my head.  I tried to force her to lay down, but she would have none of that.  Eventually, either I fell asleep, or she left and I fell asleep.  I was awoken again, this time by my work phone.  This was at 7:30, which was terrible because I was going in anyway for 8.  I went into work and didn't come home until 10.  It was a long call-back.  I had three people to take blood from and an xray.  Of course none of my patients were easy to get blood from.  One was just difficult and the other was unresponsive and sleeping on her face, so I had to get creative to get blood from her.  Eventually I was able to come home.

I came home and Sonja wasn't home yet and I just surfed the internet.  I started to make the shopping list and menu for the week.  I went to the store to get what we needed.  I got to the check out and realized that I forgot my wallet at home.  Fortunately for me the debit machine was frozen, so while they tried to fix that I ran home to get my wallet and a check just in case.  I got back to the store and the debit machine still wasn't fixed, so it was lucky I took a check to pay with, otherwise we would be going hungry today.

I came home with our food and Sonja still wasn't home.  She did however come home shortly after.  She had some breakfast and we watched some of the hockey game that was on.  She was falling asleep on the couch, so I sent her to bed.  I spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching TV.

I started to get supper ready around 4.  We were having chicken wings and fries.  I woke Sonja up about 5 to eat with me.  We ate and then fed the bones to the birds.  The rest of the evening has been pretty relaxing.  I went into work again about 8 to do another x-ray.

I will probably go to bed kinda soon, since I am tired.  I don't know what Sonja will be doing since she slept most of the day.

Work day

I got a text from my co-worker last night at 9pm.  It was asking if I wanted to work in the office today.  I didn't really want to but I do have those 5 floater days when they can call me if it gets super crazy.  As I was mulling it over I got another text saying that she wanted the day off.  The kind of made me a little upset.  My understanding was that these 5 days were to be used, like I already said, when it gets super crazy, not when someone wants a day off.  I agreed to go in because I didn't have an excuse not to.

That kind of ruined my night.  I know had to get to sleep at an appropriate time and wake up at 6:45am.  I know it doesn't sound all that bad, but when you're use to sleeping in and slowly waking up and just generally being a little lazy in the morning, it's a rough Friday.  Also, I was upset that my first day back at work would be because someone just wanted a day off.

So I tried to get to sleep early and I was in luck, as I was actually tired last night.  But I couldn't get comfortable.  I was tossing and turning and keeping Tyler awake.  It wasn't very nice.

And then I woke up.  And it was time to get the day started.  I actually got a lot of sleep last night because I popped out of bed and was soon in the shower, eating breakfast and heading off to work.

And then I got frustrated.  Once I got to work, I found an envelope on my desk, with a note asking me to do something.  My only issue with people doing that is that I don't know when I will be coming into work.  So, to simply put that there and not tell me about it will likely lead to me not knowing anything about it.  I just hope they don't put anything urgent by my desk.  But I'm sure they aren't that stupid.

It turns out that my co-worker had a whole to-do list for me, which I find so strange because it wasn't until 9pm that she asked me if I could work.  Just strange that she had things lined up for me.  The to-do list consisted of all the things she hates doing.  One of the things I had notice while I guarded was the admin filing.  It had been piling up and piling up and when I got that text last night, I promised Tyler I wouldn't do it because that is just promoting that lazy attitude that someone else will deal with it.  But then I spent about 15 minutes on the project and it was done.  I'm not sure why she doesn't just do it every day, then it will be a short quick job.

I also had to do some ordering, some labeling, some answering of the phone.  It was actually a pretty quiet day and I got the whole list done by about 3:45.  As much as I have complained about having to go in because of a day off, it was a really easy day for me, and I had some fun.  I enjoy talking and laughing with the cops so it wasn't a huge bust of a day.  And it wasn't as nice outside today as it was yesterday, so I'm pretty happy about that.

I did have a good day.  It's nice to be welcomed back and told that I can do a weeks worth of work in one day.  That's always a good ego boost.

And then I came home.  It was good to come home.  We forgot to take out meat for supper so I did this when I came home, and I placed it in the oven's warming drawer.  Soon Tyler came home and he was off to making supper.  We had roasted meat with leftover biscuits.  It was the best thing I've had in so long.

Then we turned on a hockey game while we looked through a magazine and found things we want to buy for our camping collection.  It's all horribly expensive so it will have to be bought in stages but I'm pretty sure we can do it over time.

We are now watching a movie.  I might stretch out over the exercise ball because I've been sitting pretty much all day.  It's hard on the body to sit all day long.

Happy long weekend!!  3 days spent with Tyler, and it's going to be awesome.  We don't have any plans because Tyler is on call but it's going to be nice to spend all this time together.

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Last night we went to bed early as we had an early morning yesterday.  It was however nice to get 10 hours of sleep in the middle of the week.  I woke up eventually and got ready for work.  It's nice only having a couple more days to go until the long weekend.  We don't have any plans however for the long weekend.  I am on call so we won't be doing to much, except making money.

Work was slow today.  I was able to get lots of studying done.  All the studying made the day go by quickly.  Soon it was the end of the day.  So needless to say nothing really happened at work so nothing to report on that front.

I came home and made some supper.  I made biscuits for supper.  There is nothing like breakfast for supper.  They turned out all right.  Not perfect but delicious none the less.  After cleaning up supper we went out for a walk to enjoy the beautiful weather.  It was very nice out today.  Way better than yesterday. I kinda wish that we went out seaweed picking today.  It was warm and sunny out today.

No plans for the rest of the night.  I will be making popcorn later and we will watch the season finale of The Office.

Glad the week is almost over.  I have been tired most of the week and will be nice to sleep in and not work for three days.

Awesome Wednesday!!!

Normally Wednesday's aren't that great.  It's the middle of the week and usually the end of the week is so far away.  But, today was different.  Today was so awesome.

We woke up at 5:30am.  And today that didn't matter.  We had big plans for the day and it was well worth the pain of getting up that early.  We ate some breakfast, packed a backpack with 2 sandwiches and some other snack food.  Then we put on our puddle boots and walked over to our friends place.  They were taking is out on the boat.  It's something they keep talking about, but it hasn't happened until today.

We show up and bring everything down to the beach.  Carl brought the boat around and we hauled everything onto the boat.  Unfortunately the weather really sucked.  It could have been worse but it was cold, wet, and early.  Luckily that boat is equipped with a home made cabin with a heater and lots of blankets.  I hunkered down in there for the trip out to the middle of nowhere.  It was pretty warm, but I was still getting chilled.  My hands never warmed up either.

Once we got to our first destination, people started to off load.  This is where we were seaweed picking.  In all, there was 6 adults and 2 kids.  People started to pick their seaweed and put it into sacks.  I wasn't wearing any type of rain gear or anything suitable for going off the boat, but Tyler got onto a rock and started picking away.  I'm not sure if he knew what he was doing, but he got a full totes worth.

After a while, Carl went by all the rocks and picked everyone up.  I was told that different families have rights to different areas for seaweed and those rights were established hundreds of years ago.  And people don't go into others territories.  Carl is just a wealth of information about the area.  It was a good day just because I learned so much about this town.

And then we boated around and fished.  Tyler caught so many cod.  I was impressed.  He caught about 11 fish.  Some of them super tiny and some of them really big.  There were 3 people fishing and it seemed like there was always 2 lines in the water and the 3rd always had a fish on it.  The natives have a strange way of fishing.  This one guy kept bashing the heads in of small fish and throwing them back into the ocean, while not bashing the heads in of the fish we kept.  So the big ones sat there, trying to survive while he killed the small ones.  It didn't make much sense to me and being a person who is sympathetic to all animals, it made me a little sad.  I made Tyler bash in their heads so they would just die already.  Tyler just told me that he was actually just feeding the eagles but still, it was sad.

Carl took us past some native art work on the side of a rock.  He didn't know who painted it but he said it's been there for thousands of years.  He also took us to a pilot project he is in charge of.  I didn't understand all the details but we got to see a raft that was held 90 thousand scallop seeds.  Then he took us to see another raft that housed scallops that were bigger.  It was neat to see it.  I'm starting to think he knows everything.

We headed back to town.  It was pretty uneventful and soon we were home again.  I took a shower to warm up and since that didn't work, my magic bag is in the microwave right now.  We did get to see some pretty cute animals today.  We saw a mom and a dad sea otter with their sea otter baby, we saw a few seals, some eagles.  And now I'm looking at Kitten who is sleeping on the couch right above me.  I love this kitty.

We ate some dinner when we got home and now we are relaxing.  It's likely early to bed tonight as this morning was an early wake up.

I think I might eat a kiwi.

I was awoken by the cat knocking the cookie sheet off of the counter in the kitchen onto the floor.  I am not sure what she was doing, because she doesn't go on the counter ever.  We have never seen her up there, or have seen any evidence of her being there with little foot prints or cat hair up there.  This all happened around 6:30 so I got up to investigate.  I went back to bed since I had another hour I was able to sleep.

I got up and got ready for work.  It was a pretty uneventful day at work today.  It was slow, so I was able to get some studying done.  I did get some of my assignments done, until my batteries died in my calculator and it was back to real work.  I wrapped up the day and came home just after 5.  When I got home I found that Sonja had supper ready to be eaten.  So I joined her with my plate and had supper.

We started to watch the hockey game that was on.  It was a high scoring, exciting game.  We were cheering for the Lighting and unfortunately they lost 6-5.  But it was close.  I also made some super good popcorn.  It tasted like white cheddar popcorn that you can buy in the store.

The rest of the night will be relaxing and probably go to bed early.  We have to get up early because we are going out seaweed picking with our friends Jan and Carl.  It will be fun and something different to do.  It will be nice to get out of town and see some need sights along the coast.  We are excited and Sonja will be giving the full news and story of the day tomorrow.

Another day, another dollar

Yesterday I got a call from the detachment, asking me if I wanted to work 8-4 today.  I said yes, of course. And so for the first time in a week, I got up at 6:45am.  I wonder why I feel like it's been so long since I've been up this early.  Funny what 1 week can do.

But, last night, I kept waking up for no reason.  I kept looking at the clock and not being impressed with what time it was.  Maybe I was dreading getting up and going to work again.

The alarm sounded and I wished it hadn't.  I was pretty tired this morning.  I ate some breakfast and headed off to work.  It was only guarding so it really wasn't something to dread.  I showed up to work and then didn't do much.  I started cross-stitching and I turned on the show I've been addicted to - Grey's Anatomy.  And that's what I did all day.  I was pretty happy with how much I've done on my cross-stitch project.  It's looking like I might be able to have an end date for it.  I would like to get it done before we come home at the very end of June and it's looking like it will be done before then.  That makes me so excited.

Once I got home, I worked on my project a little more.  Tyler came home and we prepared dinner together.  We had hamburgers which were alright.  They aren't my favorite and it wasn't what I planned for dinner tonight, but Tyler wanted to finish up those hamburgers.

I just got off the phone with my dearest friend and cousin, Joni.  We talked about life, her upcoming wedding, work, and everything else we could think of.  It was really awesome to talk with her.  I miss my friends and I'm so excited to be coming home.  It's hard to believe I haven't seen them since Christmas.  I don't like it but there isn't much I can do about it.

I think it's early to bed tonight.  We are going fishing with friends on Wednesday morning.  It's going to be super duper early but well worth it.

365

How can this be the 365th blog post?  How can early tomorrow morning be our one year anniversary of living out here in Bella Bella?  I can't believe it at all.  And I'm just starting to really like it out here too.  It's taken me a little while to really fully appreciate what we have, the people, the scenery.  Today really solidified my love for this place too.  It's been an incredible year.

My morning started so early.  Tyler got up for the bathroom around 5:30 and also woke me up.  And then at 6am, my phone rang.  Tyler sprang up and thought it was his on call phone, but I answered my phone.  I knew what it was too.  I was being asked to guard.  I wasn't all awake either.  I asked them to phone around and see if someone else wants to go in.  It's easier to stay awake at night when I get called then waking up from a dead sleep and having to go in.  He said he would phone everyone else.  When I hung up the phone, I didn't really get back to sleep knowing that I was likely going to get another call.  And sure enough, my annoying ring tone sounded again.  So I went into work at 6:30 after getting ready for the day and collecting things to do while I guard.

I showed up for work and the member told me that he tried to call everyone he knew would be sober enough to work, and that list wasn't very long.  The one nice thing about watching a drunk person is that they sleep the whole time and you don't really have to do a whole bunch for them.  I was told that they might have another person for me later in the day too.  So, I watched a few tv shows, I did a few cross stitches, and I had a decent morning.  I also ate the lunch I brought, which was stir fry, at 8:30.  It was a good breakfast.  Once the person was released, I got to be outside.  And it was beautiful outside.

It was hot and sunny and it was glorious.  I tried to sit outside but by the time I ate something and got my stuff together, the sun had moved around the house and it wasn't as great outside.  Not as hot and sunny. So, I set up a chair by the window, right by where Kitten sunbathes.  It was pretty warm but I got disrupted.  I got a text from Kendra saying she was going to go clean out the fire pit and collect wood for our fire tonight.  I decided to join her.  I went down to the beach and shoveled the fire pit and talked with Kendra and a nurse who was reading on the beach.

Tyler was out fishing in a kayak and came back when we were all out there.  He didn't get many bites but I guess it was fun for him.  I was supposed to go with him, but work got in the way of our fun.  While we were out there, Tyler went to the spit and cast once.  He then came back with a big black cod on the end of his rod.  It was pretty unbelievable that it happened that fast.  The nurse was pretty impressed and decided to try his hand at it as well.  So he went off and came back soon after with another big fish.  At this point, we had started the fire and had gotten some pretty good coals.  We also found a grill in the tall grass so Tyler propped up some wood and placed the grill on the blocks.  He threw the fillets on there and we watched them cook.  But soon, as every one predicted, on of the blocks caught on fire and right before it fell over, Tyler managed to place another piece of wood under the grill and saved the dinner.

We also made pie irons and they were the best thing I have ever eaten.  I can't believe I haven't eaten a pie in so long.  I first had a wildberry pie and then a pizza pie.  We introduced the pie iron to our friends and they really enjoyed them too.  I totally felt like I was camping, what with the fire beside the ocean, the fire, the eagles, the pie irons and the mountains.  It all came together to give me the feeling that I didn't need to wash my hands before eating, even though there was soot on them.  That feeling of being grubby but since everyone is, it's okay.  It was a really great night.  There was a huge eagle frenzy all evening and that was super cool to see.

I came in early because I have been awake for what seems like forever.  And as it turns out, I haven't gone to bed yet so coming in early was pretty silly.  I gave Kitten some coneless time and now I'm blogging.  I hope I don't get called again tomorrow morning.  It's tough not spending the weekends with Tyler.  It's fine if I work throughout the week but not on weekends.

It was a good day and I'm thinking that once I get into bed, I will be fast asleep very quickly.

Weekend wonder

We were unable to blog last night because the website wasn't available.  I tried doing it in the morning but it still wasn't available.  It's pretty annoying when our only way of communicating with people doesn't work.  So now you get a 2 day update.

Thursday wasn't too great of a day and I'm sure it would have been a boring blog anyway.  I slept until about 8:30 or 9 and got up.  I know I worked out and ate some food.  I know I spent a lot of time reading my book and cross-stitching.  Last night we went over to Kendra's for some cards.  A locum doctor is in town who we played Phase 10 with back in September.  It was a really good night.  We ate some salty snacks, had a lot of laughs and I won the game again.  I like playing cards and it's a little more fun with more people but the games seem to last forever.

And then when we got home after 10, my phone rang.  And then I went into work for a shift of guarding.  The prisoner was really funny to watch.  He sat on the toilet with his pants on and I was afraid something horrible was about to happen.  Instead, he fell asleep while sitting there.  I was afraid he was going to fall off even though that would have been pretty funny.  I didn't feel like calling the medics so I was glad that he finally laid down on the mat.  I spent my night watching movies and cross-stitching.  It was nice to see the guy released so I could come home.  It was sweet relief.  I was pretty tired.

I came home and slept.  And apparently had a whole conversation with Tyler when he came home for lunch.  I don't remember any of it but I guess I was a pretty convincing awake person.  I finally woke up at around 2:30ish and spent the day continuing to wake up and cross-stitching.  It was a relaxing Friday afternoon.

Tyler came home and started making dinner.  It was stir fry night.  Tyler doesn't like stir fry so I'm not sure why he chose to put it on the menu but I really loved it.  Lots of veggies and I'm really excited for lunch tomorrow.

Then we went for a fire on the beach.  Kendra and Tyler's co-worker collected wood and we started the fire.  Kendra didn't stay long but we just got in.  It was nice to be out there.  It was like we were camping and I love camping.

I'm excited for the weekend.

Wednesday is here and I am finally on my last night of being on call.  I was supposed to be done on Monday, but my co-worker needed to go to Bella Coola for till tomorrow morning.  It will be nice to be off finally.  However I will be back on call on Monday.  When I get another week not on call I will have been on call for 18 out of 22 days.  Cha-ching.

Today at work I wasn't busy this morning so I was able to catch up a bit.  There was a staff meeting in the morning, so I went to that and continued the morning until lunch when I came home for leftover pizza.  Pizza is so good.  Even the second or third time around.  Going back to work the weather was finally starting to co-operate and the sun was starting to come out again.  The first couple hours after lunch were pretty slow.  I had a few people come in, but nothing to keep me steadily busy.

Three o'clock rolled around and I went for coffee.  Coming back the flood-gates opened up and I was crazy busy.  It was a revolving door for me.  I was finally able to finish everybody up and came home at a reasonable time.  I came home at five and we threw the chicken in the oven and we went for a quick walk around town since it is finally not raining.  We came back just as the chicken was finishing cooking and had supper.  After supper I studied a little bit before we went up to Kendra's to play a round of phase 10.  Sonja won which was unfortunate because I was on the way to an epic comeback.

We came home and are now watching Modern Family.  I will probably go to bed soon because I am really tired.

Day off

Today was my first real day off.  Although yesterday was technically my first day off, today was the first day I was actually able to enjoy my freedom. And that started with sleeping in until 9am.  I was awake before 8:30 but I decided to lay there for a little while.

After getting out of bed, I ate some fruit and yogurt for breakfast. I wasn't really hungry as we had a pretty big dinner last night.  I did a bit of internet surfing and then I started my work out.  It was a really good work out too.

Once I completed my work out, I read my book for a little bit.  I actually read it most of the afternoon.  I kind of lost track of time.  I checked my email one more time, this time I got one from my co-worker inviting me to a birthday party at work.

I showed up at work to meet the new cop and talk with my co-workers.  It was nice to be there and not be so responsible for everything.  So we all enjoyed cake and some good conversation.  The funny part was that they were asking me all these questions about when this thing I ordered was going to get here and all that kind of stuff.  I actually stayed a little later then I should have and I emailed a few people and tried to figure it all out for them.  I'm not sure they can live without me.

Once I got home, I started on dinner.  We had pizza only this time, I made it a little different.  On my half of the pizza, I added chopped red, orange and yellow peppers and chopped broccoli.  It was super tasty.  Of course, Tyler wouldn't dream of putting anything colored on his pizza so his half was just chicken and cheese.  I really enjoyed my piece of pizza.

After dinner, we watched some hockey and I read some more.  I really am enjoying my book.  I did a few stitches in my project but it's been a pretty lazy day for me.  I've enjoyed it.

We are now watching a movie.  I'm blogging and it's raining outside.  It's been bad outside all day long.

Boo

Sorry for Tyler's very short blog last night.  I took the computer to work with me so I wouldn't be completely bored while working.

So I worked 13 hours last night.  I went in at 8:20 and came home at 9:30ish this morning.  Last night was a pretty good nights work.  The prisoner read and was sleeping most of the night which made my evening easy.  I watched 4 movies and listened to some music while working on my cross stitching.  With 13 hours of free time, I got a lot of my project done.  I'm loving what it's looking like and once it's done, there will be a picture of it up on here.

It's always tough making it through the wee hours of the morning.  Around 7:30 was when it got to the point where I had enough already.  I just wanted to go home.  And then once all the cops showed up to work and I thought I would be going home, I had to wait another hour before I could.  Once I got home, I had to decompress so I started to read my book.  Kitten was making herself comfortable on my chest and I was a little sad to disrupt her but I decided that I would have a better sleep if I went to bed.

And then I slept.  And that's where it gets boring because I slept all day long.  Kitten came and joined me as well and slept by my side all day.  I woke up about 5 minutes before Tyler came home from work which was around 4:30ish.  I laid in bed for a while and then it was time to go for dinner at Shearwater.  One of the doctors who was here a while ago came back again so we went out for dinner and to watch the hockey game.  It was a fun time.

Tyler's co-worker has to go to Bella Coola to train someone so he is on call again this week.  He found that out today but we were still able to go for dinner.  But, he did get a call back so we had to come home earlier then we wanted.

I came home right away and didn't do anything until Tyler came home.  We are now watching Dancing with the Stars.  I wish I could have worked on my stitching but oh well.  I'm still pretty tired so it's off to bed as soon as possible.

I don't know what the weather did today as I was sleeping but it's raining right now so I think it's been grey all day long.

My mind can't think any more...

Seven

So Sonja was called in to guard so you get a short blog from me tonight.

First of all happy mothers day mom and Lene as well as all the other moms who will read this.

Today I woke up around 8 and tried to get back to sleep. Fed up I got out of bed around 8:30 and did some studying and then surfed the Internet for a bit. I got hungry and made some sausage English muffins for breakfast. Sonja got up around 11 and joined me.

She ate some fruit. We watched a little bit of tv and then I took a nap. We were up late last night watching movies and so I only ended up with 6 or so hours of sleep last night. So my nap was good to catch up a bit. I slept for almost two hours. I got up again and we went to the store as well as took a walk around the town. It was a nice sunny warm day.

We were invited to Kendras for supper. I made some fish and took it up. It was good and got lots of compliments on it.

I just got home and now blogging this readying for the week.

Pay Day

Well I was finally able to sleep in on a Saturday for the first time since probably Christmas.  It felt good as I was exhausted from my busy week.  I have had four callbacks going into today.  A new record.  I haven't been this busy with callbacks since we've been out here.  Also since these callbacks were coming in the middle of the night, I was pretty spent.  I was call in at 10 for some blood work.  So I went and was back in  a half hour or so.  Callback number 5.  I came home and made a menu and shopping list for this week.  We ventured out and got everything we needed and came back.  We also did the dishes to get them out of the way.  In the afternoon I was settling down to do some studying when the phone rang again.  Callback number 6.  I did that and came home once again and started to study.

We went over to Jan and Carls to watch the Canucks game, and to eat some supper.  It was the best game that the Predators and Canucks have played in this series.  It was actually exciting so Nashville won, starting Vancouver's decent to elimination at the end of this round.  2 more losses and they are done.

We came home and then the phone rang again.  Callback number 7 for the week.  I went in and came home just around 10.  It is going to a relaxing rest of the evening with a movie.  Tomorrow night we will be going to Kendra's for supper.  It's nice not having to cook for ourselves.

We'll see how many calls come for me by the end of tomorrow.  Maybe another three, or none.  Only time will tell.

Last Day

After many months of wondering and questioning and frustration, I finally know when my last day of work  will be, or should I say was.  I was told yesterday that today would by my last day of work.  Actually, it was just my last consecutive day of work.  According to my contract and the rules, I still have 5 more working days at that detachment.  The bosses thought it would be best to save and use those days when they really need a second person in there.  It would be a waste to be there when nothing is happening or my services aren't really needed.  So, I will be called when they really need me and when they figure out what is really happening with that position.  It still isn't clear but at least now I know how it might play out.

I couldn't get to sleep last night at all.  I was too excited for today.  Tyler got called into work late last night even after we tried to get a good nights sleep.  He suddenly was in bed after what I thought was only a few minutes.

I got out of bed today excited for what today held.  I knew we were going out for breakfast at Shearwater and I kind of knew it would be a slowish day, as they almost always are.  The first hour of the day was spent doing all the little stupid tasks that usually occupy my days.

Then we headed over to eat some food.  I was looking forward to it all week.  Once we arrived, we sat down and ordered some food.  I asked for apple juice and french toast.  After some conversation and waiting, our food was brought out.  Placed before me was a neat row of pancakes with some bacon on the side.  I looked at it and was disappointed and then sent it back.  10 minutes later, they brought out my french toast.  I was the last one to finish eating and it was so good.  There wasn't enough butter on it but it was so good.

We got back to the office to do about an hour or so of work before lunch.  I didn't have to eat anything for lunch because I was so stuffed from this morning.

I got back to work for an afternoon of moderately relaxing work.  Hardly any phone calls came in so I was free to look through the time sheets again.  And then, as quickly as I got the job, it was over.  I went to the back and worked out for a bit.  I did a light workout because it was my last day and I felt like being lazy.

While I was leaving, I told the guys to call me for any guarding they need done.  And they all agreed too.  It's pretty reassuring when they say I'll be the first to be called for every person who needs it.  I like that.  I guess I proved to be a hard worker and they like that.

I got home and soon after, so did Tyler.  Our friend stopped by for a few minutes to talk about our day and then we ate some leftover lasagna.  We are getting pretty sick of lasagna after having to eat it for the last 3 meals.

Our evening has been pretty relaxing.  I'm looking forward to cross-stitching and watching movies all night.  It's early to bed for us again tonight.  And hopefully a last rise.  Kitten was walking all over my pillow last night, wanting to be scratched.  Why does it seem that when you don't have to wake up the next day, you aren't as tired during the working hours as in the middle of the week?  It doesn't make much sense.

Any way, Tyler is making some hummingbird juice for the sweet little birds that suck that up.  It's crazy how quickly they drink that stuff.  We plan on going for a walk because Tyler has a hankering for ice cream sandwiches.  I think I'll have a bite of one too.

It's going to be a great weekend.  We don't have anything planed but I love spending time with Tyler.

Have a good weekend.

Manager for the day

So I woke up super tired and hit the snooze button to get the extra few minutes of sleep.  I got up jumped in the shower to get ready for work.  I am still by myself this week, playing boss.  It wasn't terribly busy today with patients.  This morning I had a few people to take blood from, but it wasn't bad at all.  I had a few little things to finish up from yesterday.  Two of our printers weren't working the last two weeks or so.  So the IT guy was at the hospital so I cornered him and got him working on those to get them working for us again.  So this morning the printers were finally working again.  I had a couple other things to finish up and then a staff meeting this morning before lunch.

I came home starving for lunch and ate some leftovers and talked with Sonja.  Soon enough though it was time to go back.  This afternoon was slow and I didn't have to much to do, so the time seemed to drag by a little bit.  Finally it was time to go home.  Again I was starving, except this time supper still had to be made.  We had lasagna which was poor planning because we actually didn't eat until twenty to seven.  It turned out pretty good.  It was almost to meaty.  I didn't make it saucy enough, but still tasty.

After supper we watched a bit of the hockey game and then decided to play our game of pen hockey.  I won both games.  I guess I'm pretty good.  Sonja is going to stop playing with me soon.  We are now just watching The Office and Sonja is cross-stitching.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Today was good day, only because I sort of found out what is happening with my job.  But I will get to that excitement in due time.  First, I will tell you about the first half of my day.

It was just a normal day.  Nothing really happened.  This morning, I kind of jumped out of bed.  I didn't feel the same sleepy weight that has held me in bed for those few extra seconds of rest.  It was nice.  I think it's because we went to bed early.  Actually, it was my intention to fall asleep right away, but then my mind wouldn't shut off.  And my eyes wouldn't close.  I just couldn't fall asleep and it started to annoy me.

I woke up this morning and ate some tasty breakfast of kiwi and half a cantaloupe.  It was a very good breakfast and kept me going most of the morning.  Once at work, the fun started.  It was an alright morning.  My co-worker made me look incompetent.  Someone came to the front counter asking for their record check.  I really had no idea what he was talking about and my co-worker looked at me and said, "Oh you didn't do them.  He needs it as soon as possible."  Like I was supposed to know they were required right away.  It made me look really stupid and like I was neglecting my duties.  I got upset and said that she didn't tell me it was needed that quickly.  I think she got the message because she helped me do them.  But it really upset me.  I don't like looking like that.

The day went on as normal.  People calling.  Me answering.  It was really just a day.  I spent a good part of the day going through time sheets because there was an incident pointed out to us last week that someone was adding hours to their time sheet without actually working for them.  So, now I get to go through the last few years of time sheets to see how many times the person actually cheated.  I'm on the month of November 2010 and it's not looking good for this employee.

And that's pretty much what I did all day.  That fact that I have to figure out hours in the 24 hour clock makes my task a little harder.

And now for the best part of my day.  I have some good news regarding my position at this office.  After many phone calls, it was decided that the job would be advertised for 2 days.  It's required to give me 2 days off before they give me the job again.  But, in the end, I will have the job.  It will be a full time casual and I will be called in whenever one of the regular full time people wants a day off.  And that means I will pretty much be fully employed.  The people in this office like their time off.  They both like to use every last second of their available time, so I imagine I'll be working plenty.  But, unfortunately the process of hiring me back might take up to 2 months so I might get some time in the sun :)

I worked out after work today.  There was an officer in there as well which made me a little uncomfortable.  I don't like working out when someone else is in there.  But he left soon so I got in a really good workout.

I came home before Tyler.  He ended up making dinner which I don't really know how that happened.  Probably because I was occupied doing something really stupid.  We had a spicy chicken noodle dish kind of thing and it was pretty good.  Not sure it will be back on the menu very soon but it was alright.

Our evening has been spent cross-stitching, playing on the internet and waiting for our favorite show "Modern Family" to come on.  I can't wait till the weekend so we can be outside.  I'm hoping the weather improves for Saturday.  It's been cloudy and spitting all day long and that makes it sad outside.  I can't wait for sun.

It's been a good day and I'm excited for it to be Thursday.

Callbacks

It was a busy day this morning.  I was busy all morning it seemed.  My co-worker seems to always start ten things to do and doesn't actually finish any of them, leaving me to deal with all the patients.  It was useful today that the clinic was closed, and will be closed tomorrow as well.

I came home early for lunch, as my co-worker was leaving early to fly out today.  I scared Sonja when she came home because because she wasn't expecting me to be there.  I had a sandwich and it was back to work soon enough.  The afternoon was slowed down a bit so I was able to print off some notes and worksheets for my next course that started yesterday.

Tonight has been busy though.  I was called back twice tonight.  Once just as we were finishing up making supper.  So I had to go back into work on an empty stomach.  I was able to wrap it up pretty quickly and get home to eat supper, as I was starving.  I came home and ate and we started to watch the hockey gam that was on.  It was a boring second period.  Just as we were getting ready to watch a movie, my on-call phone rang so it was back to work for me.  I got home just as the overtime period was starting and we watched that until the Canucks scored.

We are now watching The Office as we wind down for the night and get ready for tomorrow.  I will be working by myself for the rest of the week so hopefully everything goes alright.

May already!

I can't believe it's May already.  That blows my mind.  How does it go so fast?

Today was just another day.  I went to work after the normal morning routine.  I was very surprised to see my co-worker show up at the same time as me.  That pretty much never happens.  Not that it's going to last, I'm sure that by Wednesday it will be back to the usual 15-20 minutes late.

The day went by with a few annoyances.  There was another time sheet error which just makes me the most upset.  It's like these people don't enjoy getting paid.  Why wouldn't you write down your hours?  It's just super frustrating to be in charge of something that no one seems to care about.  And then when I brought this to the attention of my co-worker, she kind of made it my fault.  She missed the point I was making that it happened more then once and we need to be watching out for it.  She turned it around and told me that I have to count the hours and blah blah blah.  It really confused me and I'm not liking being in charge of checking these time sheets.  It makes me want to pull my hair out.

Most of the day was spent doing mundane tasks.  I looked through files that needed to be concluded, I learned some things, and fix some other things.  As you can see, I'm very into my job these days.  I did have a bit of fun at times.  I ate an english muffin and decided I really like english muffins.  I always thought they tasted funny but now I know the truth - they are so tasty with peanut butter on top.

The day ended with a really good workout at 4pm.  I always look forward to my afternoon workouts because it's a time for me to move, and relax all at the same time.  It helps me forget about the day and get ready for the evening with Tyler.

I got home from work, cleaned up and waited for Tyler to come home.  We were going to vote once he got out of work.  We went to the polls and cast our ballots.  Once we got home, we started our search for  the menu.  It's been lost for a while and that worried us.  We spent all that time making the list and planning our dinners and it was lost.  That really messed up our week.  We weren't able to take out meat to thaw because we had no idea what was for dinner.  So, we had shwarties again.  We had it lunch and we had it for dinner.  I threw in an apple and some yogurt to mix it up, but I'm glad we took the time to find our menu.  It would have been a pretty boring dinner week other wise.

Our evening was spent watching a movie.  It's been pouring rain all afternoon and that's not great to walk in.  So, we put on The Departed.  We were both afraid of having to watch this movie because the last time we watched it, we both hated it.  We watched it last on a bus going snowboarding so we couldn't hear it, we couldn't really see what was going on.  It wasn't the best way to go into giving a movie a second chance.  And it turned out great.  I really enjoyed the movie and it made a lot more sense when we knew what was going on.

We are probably going to bed pretty soon.  Tyler just finished playing with Kitten and she is now laying in her basket.  Tyler is playing a silly game on his phone and I'm watching Dancing with the Stars.

It's been an interesting day and I'm getting tired.

The weekend is over now. The day was relaxing and it rained all the day.  We were able to sleep in and enjoy the day.  I got up first and made breakfast.  We had breakfast sausages on bagels with egg and cheese.  It was a really good start to the day.  After breakfast we did the dishes so then they were done for the day and we didn't need to worry about them the rest of the day.

We then ventured to the store to see if we could finish off our list, so Sonja doesn't need to go later this week.  We were disappointed and only left with apples.  We were going to go back to check again, but ended up forgetting to go again.

We came back from the store and relaxed on the couch.  We watched movies all afternoon and relaxed before the week started.

I eventually started to make supper.  We had swarties casserole for supper.  It was so good today.  After supper we went up to Kendra's to play some phase 10.  It was fun.  Kendra won, which sucks for Sonja and I.  We finished up and are now just winding down for bedtime.
