Power outage

Sleep was good and so was the bowl of puffed wheat mixed with honey nut cheerios.  Needless to say, my morning was the same as it has been for the past few months, except for the howling nonsense that was going on outside.  It's crazy how the wind came scream at us all day long.

I got to work and it was a gong show from the very beginning.  Our cells were overflowing with guests to the point where one had to be kept in the back of a police car.  That only lasted for a while because it's freezing cold outside.

My day as a whole was pretty busy.  I had lots of work to do all day long and it felt good to get some stuff done.  Most of the work consisted of typing some stuff out, but it was an alright day.  I really enjoy being busy because it makes the day go by faster.

I got home to find Tyler making dinner. It was a classy chicken kind of night.  And it was awesome.  I took way to much which basically means I have lunch for tomorrow.  So thrilling.

Our night has been equally thrilling.  The power went off for about 10 minutes in which time we searched the house for a lighter, wished our home was a little neater, and felt the heat quickly being sucked from our home.  It was a little scary feeling the heat leaving like that.  It's like we stepped away from a fire and I didn't like it.  The power came back on and we started on our nightly routine.  I cross-stitched and Tyler studied.

Now we are watching a very funny show and I can't wait to get some sleep.  I'm excited to get to bed tonight.

Mixed bag

Today was a mixed day of good and bad.  I will start off with the good.  I was called into work a couple times, the bad part of that is the first call back was at 3 am.  So no good, but it gets worse.  After I got home I went back to bed hoping to go back to sleep, but to no avail.  I wasn't able to sleep so I decided to get up and study a bit for my firearms course I was planning to take today.  I studied for a bit, until I was feeling tired and like I would actually be able to sleep.  So I went back to bed hoping to fall back into a deep sleep.  Wrong again.  I went back to bed about twenty to 5 and still didn't get to sleep until almost 6.  All of this is kinda annoying as I had another callback coming in a couple hours at 8.  So I finally was able to sleep, only to wake up again about 5 to eight.  So I got up and got ready for my second callback of the day.  I got to the hospital to find out that the patient I was supposed to be taking blood from had eaten in the middle of the night, which is a big no go when your having fasting blood work done in the morning.  So I came back home and studied until 10, when the patient would have been fasting for long enough.

After the call was done I came home again and Sonja was just starting to do the dishes.  She told me I could study a bit.  I felt bad and helped her out.  After the dishes Sonja started making the pizza crust for tonight's supper, as she is the DPM or Designated Pizza Maker.  I studied some more.  I was challenging the Firearms Safety Course test at 1 so I had a timeline to be ready for.  At about ten to one I went up to the school where it was being offered and started to write it.  I did the written portion in about 15 minutes.  Since I was just challenging I let the people actually taking the course, do their practical portion before me.  So I sat around and waited for a couple hours for everyone paying for the course to go ahead and finish up.  I was finally able to go.  I started around quarter to 4 and finished up by 4.  For all of you wondering I passed.  I got 96% combined on both sections.  So thats good enough for government work is what the instructor told me.  It is nice to get that out of the way, since I was planning on taking it over Christmas, but just ran out of time in our busy schedule.

I came home with a pit stop at the grocery store, with a big sign greeting me 'NO FREIGHT UNTIL FEBRUARY 28.'  I promptly turned around, left and came home.

Once I was home I found that supper was almost ready.  It was buffalo chicken pizza tonight.  It was so good, as it always is when Sonja cooks pizza.

Sonja has been watching the Oscars all night and I have been doing a mixture of taking out the garbage, shoveling snow, showering and studying a little bit of physics.  I will probably be going to bed soon as I am pretty tired from my early start to my day.

Oh yeah, it was snowing most of the day, explaining why I was shoveling.  You have to keep ahead of this wet snow, or it gets to be ice, or just to heavy to move.

Lazy lazy lazy

Well, I'm a little embarrassed with how little we did today.  So little that I'm not even sure where to start.  But I promise to make every effort in

I didn't get to sleep in because we went to sleep super early.  That's actually pretty awesome because I wasn't tired when I woke up and that doesn't happen every day.  I got out of bed and walked into the kitchen.  Once again, I looked at our sink and was so sad.  There was another mountain of dishes and recycling to deal with and Tyler was no where in sight.  I got all ambitious and started taking out the recycling.  I was going to do the dishes but then Tyler came home and I got lazy.  I also had to make the dreaded grocery list.  I think it's a pretty awesome menu this week.  I"m looking forward to eating pretty much everything on the list.

Tyler and I went to the store to buy the food a little after he came home.  He was called into work around 10am, so we got all dressed up and headed out in the drizzle.  The store was eerily empty, like a ghost store.  It's not usually like that but it was nice not to have to wait in line to pay.  We came home, unpacked our food and made some lunch.  I had some fruit, yogurt and, along with Tyler, a chicken burger.  Not a real one like I like, but it was pretty good.

After lunch, we were cleaning out our fridge and got ready to throw our  game hen carcass out for the birds.  We saved it from last nights dinner hoping to get some good pictures of a glorious eagle picking it up.  At first we only had the seagulls and the ravins attention.  I threw out a bone with a little meat on it and a seagull picked it up.  Soon, it was being chased down by a gigantic eagle who didn't give up for about 5 minutes.  It was really cool to see.  I felt a little bad because I that poor little seagull must have felt so scared.  I know I would be if I was being chased through the air for a bone.  A little while later, another eagle was sailing past so Tyler told me to throw the hen.  I did right away and from nowhere, a huge eagle came and carried our dinner away.  It all happened so fast that no pictures could be taken.

After that excitement, I sat down to do some cross-stitching.  I love this one I'm doing.  It's pretty cool.  I'm working on a whale that Morfar had designed for me at Christmas time.  It's looking really good.  I'm hoping to get it down as soon as I can just to get it done so I can look at it in amazement.  It's that cool.

We spent the afternoon watching a show called Parks and Recreation.  It's pretty funny and it provided lots of laughs.

Our evening will be spent watching a movie and getting to bed early again.  I love weekends.

kinda busy

Today was a different kind of a day for me.  I was actually kind of busy for most of the day.  I had a lot of x-rays to do.  It was good to stay mostly busy for the greater part of the day.

However being actually busy at work, I wasn't able to study quite as much as I had planned.  I am hoping to challenge for my PAL tomorrow.  The guy is in town doing the course, so I will see if I can just challenge and be done with it.  So I was hoping to study for it today, but no go.

I came home and I tried to make a cornish game hen for supper with potatoes.  It didn't really work.  our new oven is kinda dumb, I needed to cook the bird for a half hour and then turn the temp down for another 25 minutes.  But instead of turning down it shut off and lost all the heat, so when I thought it was cooking and almost done, it in fact didn't cook and wasn't ready when I thought it would be.  So we ate what was done and threw it back in the oven for a bit.  Eventually it was ready and we just ended up picking the meat off the carcass.

A little bit after supper we started to watch Due Date.  It was pretty funny.  We both enjoyed it.  But Sonja has been tired all day and has gone off to bed and I will be as soon as I am done as I am also tired.

Today the weather finally cleared up, or rather finally stopped blowing.  It has been clear all week, just really cold and windy.  It looks like it will be a good weekend.  It's supposed to snow, but who knows.

Another day bites the dust.

I have been having a fantastic week.  It feels good to have a really good week.  It's not just one day of awesomeness, but a whole week so far.  And tomorrow is Friday so it's not going to get worse.

Any way, my day started out with shower, a bowl of puffed wheat and some cross-stitching.  I really wish I could just sit all day and work on my cross-stitching.  It already looks so good and it's not even a quarter done yet.  It's going to be awesome!

I went to work not really expecting much.  I don't let myself expect there to be work for me when I know that's not something that happens there.  I showed up and did my regular duties.  I have three things to do every morning.  I have to check to see if there were any calls that night that didn't get made into files.  If there were no calls, that job takes as long as it takes me to type three letters.  My next regular task is to check another thing that's kind of hard for me to explain.  If you all knew the terms and what they did, I could tell you no problem.  It's another little task that takes no time at all.  My last little task is equally as dull and not worth mentioning.

After the first few minutes of the work day, I started some real work and it just didn't stop.  People were asking me to do a million little things, and I loved it.  I did so many little things that I was busy all day long.  It shocked me to find that it was soon lunch.

After lunch I typed up two statements, went to the post office, ran around the office some more and then I was home again.  It has been like that the past 3 days.  It feels so amazing to be busy and to feel useful for the first time in a long time.  When I'm doing stuff at work, it makes me want to work there forever.  When I'm sitting there with no direction, I want to go home.  But, the past three days have been magically wonderful.  I enjoy working.  I'm hoping that tomorrow doesn't disappoint.

This evening has also been pretty good.  I came home and waited for Tyler.  When he was here, we worked out, ate some leftover dinner and did a few dishes.  Something that we both really super hate doing is the dishes.  We always leave them for as long as we can and then do them all at the same time.  It's a really bad routine.  The one day we have to wash them is torture.  That was tonight but we only did enough dishes to get us by for a few days.

And now the Thursday night routine begins.  I'm cross-stitching right after this blog is written so I'm pretty excited about that.  Which is why I end this now.  Also, because I have nothing else to mention.

Actually, the wind was blowing so so so hard again today.  It was bone chilling.  I've discovered that I'm kind of a huge wimp now.  I'm not use to the cold any more... I don't like that.

Sonja.

Brrr

So I had a blog all typed up and then it didn't post.  So I will just give a brief run-down of the day.  So that kinda sucked.  I think I slept pretty good last night and we got up and got ready for work.

The day was alright.  I had a few x-rays to do and some other things to keep me busy in the morning.  Lunch came and I came home for a sandwich and spent a half hour with Sonja.

The afternoon was slow so I spent some time studying.  I came home and helped Sonja put supper together.  We had lasagna and cooked it in our new oven.  It is ceramic topped so we won't need to deal with crumbs and other garbage under the burners anymore.

While supper was cooking we decided to do the workout for today.  About 5 minutes in my work phone rang and I was off to work for a quick knee x-ray.  I was back in 20 minutes or so and supper was just about done cooking.

We ate and then watched the Oilers game as it was on one of our channels.  They played good and won the game 5-1.  It is nice to see them start to play better finally.

Today the wind has been howling.  Currently it is blowing at 41 km/h with the windchill at -20.  I forgot how chilling it could be.  It doesn't help that I don't have a winter jacket out here.  Hopefully it will die down so it can feel warmer.

Sorry about the brief blog, but I honestly had a lot more before the internet decided not to post it.

Tuesday twoday

Usually when Kitty wakes me up in the wee hours of the morning, it kind of makes me upset.  I don't normally enjoy her walking on my pillow and putting her cone in my face.  But all that didn't seem to matter last night because she did something that was just so cute.  I was laying on my back when she came in.  I woke up when she laid down right on my back.  She got herself comfortable and just laid there.  It was just so cute.  She also did her roll on her back with her paws in the air move.  I wish I could have seen it.  Tyler wouldn't have been impressed if it was him under all that cat.

When the alarm went off this morning, I was awoken from a dead sleep.  That's never a nice feeling.  After a shower and a bowl of puffed wheat, I didn't really do much worth mentioning.  The mornings are usually like that.  Just watching news and playing with Kitty.

I anticipated another workless work day but once I got there, I was pleasantly surprised to find I had a few things to do.  It was a nice change.  I had work for most of the day and I loved it.  If only every day was like that.

After work, I came home and started on dinner.  We had curry chicken with rice.  I didn't make it like the recipe book wanted me to, but I thought it was pretty good any way.  It's a little hard to mess up cooked chicken.

We worked out and then went for a walk.  We went to the guy's house who is making my birthday gift.  I'm pretty excited to see it when it's done, which hopefully will be this weekend.

And now we are just relaxing.  I'm tired once again but I'm going to work on my cross-stitching until 9:30 then I'm going to read.

Monday

Today was the start of another week.  I don't remember how I slept last night.  I woke up at 4, which I have been doing a lot the last couple weeks and I don't like that.  I'd rather just sleep through the night.  Eventually though as most of the country was sleeping in enjoying their extra day of the weekend, we were getting up and reading ourselves for the day.  BC doesn't recognize Family Day as a holiday, so we were back to work today.

My day was slow.  I was in x-ray today and didn't do any until the afternoon.  Fortunately my new boss has given me the OK to study my MRI stuff at work.  So fortunately I brought my textbook and was able to study most of the day.  It helps because I don't need to study so much at home after work anymore.  Again though my day was pretty slow and eventually winded down enough for me to come home.

Sonja went to the store after she was off of work and picked up the last of our groceries.  When I came home she had supper started and almost ready.  We had spaghetti and tomato paste.  It was really thick sauce.  We also had and polished off a loaf of garlic bread.  It was just so good we couldn't stop ourselves. After supper it was time to do dishes again.  It took a longer time than we thought it would.  It took us almost an hour I think.  It was then time to relax for the night.  I had another episode of Wild Justice that I wanted to watch.  We just sat down to watch it when my work phone rang.  I went back to work for a half hour and came home.

We resumed my show and are now just relaxing the night away further.  I think Sonja is going to do to bed right away.  She hasn't been feeling good tonight.  Tired and has a headache.

Sunday's best

It's been a pretty decent day.  I didn't get to sleep in but that's okay.  That allowed the day to last for a long time.

Tyler followed me closely out of bed and soon the day was under way.  I have been watching a mini-series called Pillars of the Earth, which is based on a book I read a while ago.  I really enjoyed watching it and it makes me want to read it again.  I'm currently reading another one of his books but it's taking a very long time to read it.

After we finished up the series, we went for a walk up to the reservoir.  I wasn't really looking forward to that because it has been snowing all day and I don't have any good shoes that keep my feet dry.  But I sucked it up and we went out into the blizzard.  It was very slushy outside but it was really fun to get outside.  We walked up to the dam because Tyler wanted to see if there were any animal tracks.  He's crazy about animal tracks.  We saw some fresh deer tracks which made Tyler really excited.  It took us about an hour to get back into town.

We went to the Band Store to buy the rest of our groceries.  We were surprised to see that there wasn't much food out yet.  They usually have at least something out on Sunday but not today.  It was disappointing because now we have to make a third trip to hopefully get the rest of our food.

We spent most of the afternoon just sitting lounging around.  I have been working hard to get my cross-stitch project done.  It's so close to be done, I just want to move on to the next one.  All I have to finish on my current project is adding some grass so I hope to get that done either tonight or tomorrow morning.

We just came home from Kendra's place.  She just got a new computer so Tyler had to set everything up for her.  We also played a few games of Phase 10.  I was robbed of a win tonight.  I rocked each phase and was soon ready to win.  Tyler came from nowhere and won it.  What a turkey.

I'm hoping this week goes fast as I enjoy weekends a lot.  We are also super jealous of everyone who doesn't need to work tomorrow.  BC doesn't believe in Family Day.  What a bad place to live... I'm missing home right now.

Windless

Last night I didn't sleep well, which is par for the course for when I can actually sleep in, I don't.  So I finally got out of bed, fed up with not sleeping at 8.  I had a pretty productive morning waiting for Sonja to get up.  I surfed the net, made the menu and grocery list, studied and surfed the internet some more.  I kinda woke Sonja up at 11:30 because I needed my credit card.  She got up and had breakfast.

After we went for a walk.  I saw what looked like a game trail when we took the puppy for a walk last week, so I wanted to check that out now that there is snow on the ground and see if it is actually being used by deer.  There were lots of tracks there, but only a few deer tracks.  Most of them looked like bird or wolf tracks.  But I figure if I want to fill our freezer this fall, I have to get a start and find out where the deer will be.  We came back and stopped to get our groceries.  Being a Saturday afternoon it was pretty well picked over so we will be going back tomorrow to finish off the list.

Today was also cleaning day.  We are pretty fed up with the "Mini Cats" that hang out around the baseboards and seemingly everywhere.  So I vacuumed them all up.  Our place is clean again, but probably won't last because of the amount that this cat sheds.

We were invited to a birthday party of one of our friends daughters tonight for supper so we went over there around 5.  It was fun for a kids birthday.  They just had another baby so Sonja was excited and able to hold him for a while.  He is pretty cute and tiny, only a couple weeks old.  It was a big turkey meal and was really good.  We also didn't need to cook which is always nice.  We decided to take some cookies as a contribution.  However our oven doesn't work again.  The lower burner doesn't seem to work.  It was replaced after it flamed out but it hasn't worked since I'm guessing.  It takes forever for the oven to get up to temperature.  So we ended up only cooking the top half of the cookies, leaving the middle and bottom mostly raw.  I think I kinda figured it out, that they needed to be cooked for a longer time at a lower temperature.  But that didn't seem to work that well either.

It was overall a good day today, the wind stopped blowing, so it felt warmer.  The Oilers won their third straight game, with one of the rookies getting a hat trick.  Unfortunately we couldn't watch it because it wasn't on our channels, but still a good time for all.  And we went for a nice walk.  On the way back we noticed that it had been cold enough to freeze the more sheltered and still water of the ocean.  All this was topped off with a birthday party.  So pretty good indeed.

Wake up call

I slept like a rock last night.  It was pretty amazing.  I have been so tired all week and I'm not totally sure why.  We have been going to bed early every day and I have been sleeping all night.  I have one theory: It's because I've been alone work.  I know I've been saying that I rarely have any real work to do, but I do everything by myself.  That's my theory.  It's pretty exhausting having to completely rely on your own mind to think of all the answers.  But it's just a theory...

Any way, our wake up call came in the form of a sweet little kitty who climbed across my pillow a few times, over to Tyler's pillow, over my legs, over everything.  After she made sure we were awake, she laid down on Tyler's pillow.  It was oh so cute.  As cute as that was with her head facing Tyler, that meant her bottom was facing me.  Not so cute.

We got out of bed once we were sick of laying there waiting for the alarm to go off.  A nice hot shower, some food in our belly's and we were off to work.

My morning seemed to last forever.  I looked up at the clock and it was only 8:30am.  That was the first sign that the day would be long.  I went to to post office and had a good talk with some cops.  I looked at the clock again and it was only 11am.

And the afternoon wasn't much better.  I'm not sure how fully describe how dull my afternoon was so I will leave it at that.  I am speechless about how boring it was, so there you go.

Finally I was free.  I came home and we waited for the seabus to get to it's parking stall.  Once we saw it in the distance, we made our way to the dock.  We arrived in Shearwater for my birthday meal.  I had received some money from mom and dad to use on a birthday meal so we splurged.  Never have we ever eaten so much food, but because it was on mom and dad, we even bought dessert.  Unfortunately we splurged a little to much.  It was a good meal.  I had prime rib.  It was so good.

We are now at home and relaxing.  I'm loving the idea of sleeping in tomorrow morning.  I've been waiting for this day for 5 days.  I finally get to enjoy a day.

Tyler is getting super impatient because it's taking me forever to write to this blog so I will end it there.  Also he is being pretty cute right now so I have to give in.

Enjoy the weekend.

Today was a very very slow day for me.  I slept pretty good last night, but still not wanting to go to work.  It made sense as I didn't deal with any patients in the morning.  But we woke up with snow on the ground. It was a bit of a surprise as it was nice and clear last night when we walked the puppy.  So there was probably an inch of snow on the ground.  But it had stopped when we were getting ready to go to work.  I got there and probably ten minutes later, after maintenance finished shoveling the front of the hospital, it started to dump again.  It was a white-out for a half hour to an hour.  Then it would stop and be clear.  Not to much later it would be a white-out again.  This continued for most of the morning.

After lunch the day didn't pick up much.  I had to take blood from a brand new 6 day old baby.  She was cute and very tiny.  I took blood from one other person all afternoon.  So the afternoon drug on much like the morning.  I was able to study a bit as I had a test I wanted to write this evening.

I came home and wrote my test right away.  Sonja came home and made a beef stir-fry for supper.  It was good.  After supper we actually did the dishes, so we will probably be able to put it off until Monday.  We finished up the dishes just in time to start watching the Oiler game that was on CBC.  They scored in the first period and left the period 1-0.  After the period was over we did a work-out.  I kept the game on to keep tabs on it.  Montreal tied it up and it was 1-1 going into the third.  We sat down after the workout and finished the game.  It was a good third period.  The Oilers scored 2 goals in 15 seconds early on and added the empty netter to finish it off 4-1.

Now we are just waiting for our favorite show The Office.  I am going to make some nachos or something because I am hungry.

Tomorrow night we are going out for supper for Sonja's birthday supper, as I was on call last week.  Sonja also got a birthday card today from Oma and Opa.

Pups Magoo

Well, some people are just stupid.  We were both just so tired last night that we went to bed at 9:30.  I read for a bit to wind down some more and soon, I was out of it.  And suddenly, Stompy (our upstairs neighbor) starts vacuuming her whole house.  I know our places aren't that big, but at that time of night they seem giant.  Tyler thought it was all a dream.

Work was nothing out of the ordinary.  A little more work to do as our boss has returned.  She usually has a ton of little jobs for me to do, which I complete pretty fast.  It was a pretty long day which I handled pretty much all by myself.  My co-worker was sick again.  I'm starting to think that either I have a super immune system and never get sick, or my co-worker has no immune system.

Either way, I held down the fort.  I was at home eventually and happy again.  Tyler had started dinner when he got home so it was almost ready when I walked through the door.  We had chicken with rice.  It was pretty good.  It was more of a last minute type of meal.

Tyler studied and I watched some news.  Tyler was done his homework pretty quickly and soon enough, we were relaxing.  We have started working out together and I love that.  It was pretty intense and we went for a walk afterwards.  We took Pups Magoo out for a little walk.  She is leaving tomorrow for an adoption place.  I really hope she can find a really good home with patient parents.  That's all she needs.

It was a good day.

Last night I had a terrible sleep.  I was woken up by Sonja telling me not to roll over the cat in the middle of the night.  She was asleep and didn't remember doing it.  I also woke up many times thinking that it was Saturday and I could sleep in, but it was still Monday night.  I also thought I was on-call again last night.  I am hoping for a much better sleep tonight.

Because of my terrible luck sleeping, I was tired all day.  It was pretty slow again today.  So to add to my tiredness, there wasn't enough going on to keep me from thinking about my sleepiness.  The day kinda drug by.  I had to take blood from a 15 day old baby today, which is never any fun.  It was one of our local friends new son, so added pressure on me.

After work I came home and started on the massive pile of dishes that had been building since probably Friday.  It is a bad habit that we have now, not doing them more often.  I worked on them until Sonja was done work and we went to the store together to buy some more groceries.  So we went and came back.  Sonja started supper and I did some more dishes.  We had teriyaki stir fry with rice.  It was good.

After supper I studied and Sonja watched some news.  I studied until about 8 and then we did a work out.  Now I am blogging and watching TV.  I will probably go to bed very soon as I am still tired.

Monday blues

I got to snuggle with Kitty all night long.  She came in around 1am and cuddled right into my arms.  I couldn't move all night because I didn't want her to wake up.  She was such a good little Kitty all night.

I had a pretty decent night even though my arm was asleep most of the night.  We woke up, showered and ate some breakfast.  It was a quick little morning and soon it was off to a pretty boring Monday.

I got to work and really didn't have to much to do today.  It makes me sad to know that I don't have a bunch of work to do.  It makes it pretty hard to go in each day.

The day was filled with long breaks.  One thing I do to make myself look and feel busy is to check my email.  I don't get many emails but when I do, I read every work of it.  It's not important but it keeps me busy.  That's what my main job is.

After the uneventful day, Tyler came by the detachment and we took pups-magoo out for a very long walk.  She is getting a little better at being on her leash but she still is a giant turkey with it.  She basically walks us.  Pups will take the leash in her mouth and pull and pull and its so funny.  Then the leash will get wrapped around one of her legs, and since she isn't use to wearing a leash, she will buck like crazy and get even more tangled then she was originally.

We went all the way to the airport and back.  Pups was pulling on her leash the whole time.  She was basically chocking herself.  We brought her back to her home, and we came home too.  We finally made some dinner and Tyler studied for a bit.  I wasn't feeling so great most of the day and just felt so tired, so I watched some news with my magic bag under a few blankets.

I'm still tired but at least Tyler is done studying so we are together again.  We have zero plans for Valentine's Day,  since every day is Valentine's day for us  :)

Good night!

Sleep-in Day

Today I had to go to work, so I went in just after eight and came home just before 9.  Since I haven't been sleeping so well I went back to bed to find Sonja reading and petting the cat.  Soon the cat took off and needed to be re-coned, so Sonja chased after her and ended up getting up.  So I had the bed to myself and went back to sleep, where I stayed until twenty to 1.  It felt good to wake up and not be super tired after.  I got up and had something to eat.  Eventually we went down to the store in the miserable weather.  It was blowing and raining and just not nice to be walking out in.  We came home to relax.

We had nothing planned for the rest of the day.  We watched a few episodes of my new favorite show, Wild Justice.  It is about game wardens in California and it is pretty good.  I enjoy it.  After those were over we started to watch the Olympic 1 year anniversary show, and are just finishing it up.  Nothing else on tap for the night.  Sorry about the short boring post, but as I've only been awake for 8 hours, I have nothing more to report.

Birthday part 2

Today was pretty awesome!  Saturdays usually are.  I really needed today to start out with me sleeping in, but I didn't get my wish.  Kitten was needing some attention around 1:50 this morning.  I could hear her rummaging around in the window shades and apparently wanted to see what 1:50am looked like outside.  I opened it for her and headed back to bed.  She came in a few hours later, wanting to climb and sniff my face.  I kicked her out because I needed to get back to sleep.  She scratched at the door and really bugged me most of the night.

Tyler got up at some point in the morning, to go off and work for a while.  I stayed in bed and was once again disrupted by my sweet little kitty.  This time she wanted to get under the blanket.  Eventually she settled down in the little nest I made for her.  And there we slept until Tyler came to wake us up.

Most of the day was spent relaxing.  It was a really awesome day for relaxing.  It was raining all day long.  We had planned on taking the little jailed puppy out for a walk but since it was raining, we didn't want to get the pup all wet and then stick her back in her room all wet.  It didn't seem fair.

There was an Oiler game on at 11am so we watched that while I planned the weeks menu.  I didn't do a very good job this week.  I could only muster 3 meals so I'm hoping we don't totally starve when the food runs out.

I made my second birthday mixture.  This time it was an oreo concoction that was so good once we finally ate it.

We really didn't do too much today, but it was really awesome to be able to relax with Tyler.  We ate some leftovers and threw some old leftovers out the door.  We had some really old turkey that we needed to get rid of.  We threw it off our deck and right away, we had a large gathering of sea gulls, ravins and crows.  I like it when animals crowd together.  I think it's pretty cute, even though they are dirty old gulls.

Our day was capped off by our friend coming over for a birthday party.  We played phase 10 and ate some cake and laughed a lot.  It was a pretty good evening.

And now we sit here, looking forward to another weekend day, another Sunday to remember just how blessed we are to be where we are with each other.  I'm loving life out here right now.  But I am also very much looking forward to weekends we can spend with family and friends back home again.  I have also gotten into a habit of looking at homes for sale on the internet.  It's fun to think about moving home and living in a real house.

Looking forward to tomorrow!

It's Finally Friday

It's Friday night and its about time.  It's not that my week was busy and I needed a break, but that it was too slow and boring and I needed a break.

This morning the cat woke us up around 6.  So the morning started earlier than necessary.  Fortunately I was able to sleep an extra hour after Sonja got up.  So I slept in and enjoyed it, but the morning still seemed to be too early.  I got up and got ready for work and saw Sonja off.

Eventually I went to work.  I had a chest xray waiting for me when I got there.  So I did that real quick and then was all caught up and started my day of waiting for more clients.  None came until after lunch.  So my day drug on.  But again it is to be expected with half of the town, out of town.  So eventually it was 5 o'clock and I came home.

Sonja had supper ready to be cooked.  There is a stray dog impounded at the detachment so Sonja volunteered to walk it tonight.  So we did that while our schwarties was cooking.  The dog is still a puppy, so isn't quite leash trained and tried dragging us around the town.  So that took us about half hour or so.  We came home and supper was almost ready.  We ate it and it was delicious.  Sonja made it with three kinds of cheese and cream of cheddar soup, so extra cheesy goodness in every bite.

After supper have kinda been relaxing.  The night has rushed by unexpectedly and nothing has really happened since supper.  We are both excited for the weekend to relax.  I have to go into work tomorrow morning, but as of now the rest of the day will be spent relaxing.

Birthday sugar coma

Well, of course today was my birthday.  I thought it would be like any other day because what can we possibly to do make this special day any good.  But it turned out to be one of the best days I've had in a while.

We had to put the cone back on Kitty.  She started really scratching a ton on her face again.  All that scratching made on of her nail caps fall off.  We didn't notice that until it was too late and she had new wounds in new places.  Any way, when she is coned she gets super cuddly.  Super cuddly Kitty means early scratching on the door.  That's not a great way to wake up on your birthday.

I got out of bed, showered and ate my birthday breakfast, corn pops.  It was pretty awesome.  I did a few stitches in my project and headed off to work.  I kind of wanted to just stay home.  I knew how the day would turn out - I would end up sitting at my desk trying to look busy enough to not get in trouble.  I got to work and I did end up just sitting there.  We have a puppy in the back so I went and played with her for a little while.  The constable I was working with today asked me if I was busy.  He told me just to go home.  It was one of those comments that I didn't take serious because it was a little ridiculous.  A little later he asked me what I was still doing at work.  I guess he was serious so I came home.  I was also told to come back at 3 for coffee break.  It was a little suspicious.

I came home and it was fantastic.  I forgot how much I loved being at home.  I stitched and surfed the internet.  It was truly awesome to spend my birthday doing things that I love doing.  Tyler came home for lunch and then left back for work.  I did more of the same after he left.

I went back to work for coffee break.  They brought a cake in and they sang to me and gave me a card.  It was all so very nice.  The cake was super great.  It made me feel like family was closer then it really is.  It made me feel great on my birthday.

I came home and started on my birthday supper.  I made classy chicken.  Tyler came home and we ate it together, along with a pie.  The pie was also fantastic.  It was made of chocolate pudding with cool whip on an oreo crumb crust.  I may have been closer to my birthday sugar coma then I liked.

I got a few phone calls today.  I called Amy this afternoon, mom called me early this evening, Grammie called after mom did, and I phoned my good and dear friend Joni.  It was a perfect end to my near perfect birthday.

Thank you all for your wishes and kind words.  I had a great birthday.

Klemtu

Today was a different day for me.  I woke up and got out of bed when Sonja got up and went into work for 8.  45 minutes later it was off to Klemtu.  Since there is currently 3 people here and enough work for 1.5 I got to play tourist in Klemtu.  So the doctor and I went up to the airport to wait for our charter to leave.  While we were waiting the Telus corporate jet landed in Bella Bella.  It wasn't so much a jet as a regional float plane to take the techs to Klemtu and Ocean Falls today.

I was supposed to go and do whatever blood work the doctor needed.  But there was nothing to do.  So I went for a walk around the south side of the town.  I went up to the long house, but found out later that the guy who takes care of the place is up in Prince Rupert at the basketball tournament, so I only got to see it from the outside.  After I went back to the health center to see if there was anything to do yet.  Nope.  Nothing.  I was offered a computer to surf the net so thats what I did.  Eventually lunch came and we went to the cafe, doctor's treat.  It was good.  I had a burger of course, and I was full for a while.  After lunch I went for a walk again, this time to the north side of town.  I went to the salmon hatchery, but again no one was there, so no tour for me.  To get to the north side I walked over one of Klemtu's claim to fame: the longest board walk in North America.  There wasn't much on the other side, so I went back to finish off the day of waiting.  Eventually it was time to go.  The weather was changing pretty quick so our trip was cut short so we could actually get back to Bella Bella.  25 minutes later we were back and it was the end of my day.  So I came home and relaxed and waited for Sonja to come home.

For supper we had chef's salad.  It was pretty good but we were hungry again shortly after.  After supper I studied and Sonja called her sister Eva.  She talked for about an hour.  We are now just relaxing and getting ready for bed.

Tuesday

Tyler just went off to work so I decided to get on with blogging already.

Last night was really a great evening for me.  I called my best friend, Ranita, and talked for almost 2 hours. It was really awesome.  I have been setting up days to call some of my friends who I haven't talked with in a while.  It's always great to reconnect.  I love laughing with friends!!

I am so proud of my little kitty.  She hasn't woken us up in what seems like an eternity.  She always greets me at the door when I get up though.  It's pretty cute.  She has become even more high maintenance without her cone.  She always wants attention and she talks so much.  I just love her so much.

I showered and ate some breakfast.  I should learn that corn pops aren't filling.  I'm always hungry 2 hours later.  Maybe that's normal but it doesn't feel very normal.  I will have to figure all that out.

The morning went pretty slow at first, with all the non-work I was doing.   At about 10am, I had a statement that needed typing.  That brought me to lunch time.  I was so glad to see lunch time come around.  When I got home, I popped a bagel into the toaster and cut some cheese.  I love melty cheesy bagels.  Oh so good.  Tyler came home and we talked about how dull our days have been.  It's always nice to hang out with each other at lunch.

Back at work and I was surprised to see my co-worker.  She decided to come in in the afternoon and isn't sure she will come in tomorrow morning either.  I still didn't have a ton of stuff to do after lunch.  I had a few things to mail and a few other odd jobs but the time seemed to slow right down.  Not too many calls came in today again.  Half the town isn't even in town right now, so that explains the lack of stuff for me to do.

I came home and and popped some chicken in the oven.  We were having real chicken burgers, and tomorrow we are having chicken salad and my birthday meal will be classy chicken, so I just cooked up all the chicken we have.  Tyler was late coming home, so we ate right away once he finally did come home.  Tyler started studying right after while I did the dishes.  After we were finished with our respective jobs, we worked out.  It's a lot more fun to work out with someone else, and the time goes by so much faster.  I like doing that with Tyler.

He got called to work and I'm just sitting here.  I ordered a really cool cross-stitching from a place called "The Needle Gnome" and it finally came today.  I'm so excited to start it because it is pretty much the coolest thing ever.  I have a few projects to work on before I start that one though.  I have to finish the one I'm doing right now, then I'm going to do one Morfar made for me and then I'll start on this new one.  I just have to be patient, which I'm really bad at.  I want it all now.  It'll all get done in due time.

It's been a pretty great evening.  I wish Tyler would come home already.

Carving lessons

Today was a slow day for me.  My boss' replacement started today so there were three of us at work today and will be for the next month.  Also there is a big basketball tournament in Prince Rupert this week which half of the town goes to watch and cheer for the town's team.  All this added up to the perfect storm of slow day for me.  I was in x-ray today waiting for people to come.  None did until after three.  After that the day seemed to go by quickly.

I came home to find Sonja cooking our supper.  We had bacon and scrambled eggs.  They were good.  We ate and then Sonja called her friend Ranita and I did homework for the day.  While doing my homework I was listening to the hockey game.  It sounded like a good game.  The Oilers won 4-0.  It's unfortunate that when they play well we are unable to watch.  I couldn't even find a source for the video on the internet.

At 7:30 we went to choose Sonja's birthday present.  So we went to one of the local artisans house and looked at some of his works.  He took us out to a totem pole he has been working on for the last year.  It is 40 feet long and 3 foot diameter.  It was really cool.  He even showed us his tools that he uses to carve with.  It turns out that he makes his own tools, as traditional carving tools can't really be found at your local Lee Valley.  He also showed us how they are used and even let us try.  He picked a spot that "Had a lot of wood left" for us to carve, shave and chop of.  That way we wouldn't wreck it on him.  It was cool to try.  Apparently we could be good with some practice.

We eventually came home and are now just watching TV and getting ready for bed.  It was a pretty good day overall.  The sun came out after a completely miserable day yesterday.  Of course the sunshines just in time for the work week to start.

Pouring Rain!

This has been a fantastic weekend for my sleep.  Not only did I get 12 hours of sleep Friday night, I got about 10 hours last night as well.  And that is just awesome.  Kitty hasn't been a real pain but maybe that's because we don't have to wake up the next morning, so it's not as annoying.  I have been waking Tyler up a lot lately as well.  Poor guy.  Both his girls are keeping him awake at night.

I woke up and got out of bed before Tyler even stirred.  Tyler finally showed his face around 11.  It's nice that he got to sleep in because he's on call this next week.

I'm not really sure what we ended up doing all day.  I know that we went back to the store to pick up the remaining items on our list.  We were afraid that the trucks weren't unloaded yet as we didn't actually see the food trucks outside.  It's always scary when the food isn't there.  But, we were in luck and we able to get the foods we needed.

We ate some lunch which was so good for me.  I had some leftover fried rice and a bagel.  The bagel reminded me of when all my brother and sisters lived at home.  We would come home from church and mom and/or dad would go to a store in Sherwood Park called "Bagel Latte".  I always loved the chocolate chip bagels, but sesame seed was also my favorite.  We bought sesame today.  And it was so good.  It's nice to be reminded of family and good times.

We did our huge mountain of dishes that had been taunting us for the past few days.  We actually had no plates or bowls in our cupboard so it looked pretty bad.  We got them done in record time and then watched a movie.  We needed to let our food digest before we did a work out this afternoon.  And then we worked out.  It's a lot more fun to work out with someone else.  It's makes it easier to do a good job.

After a shower and a bit more food, we had some friends over.  Our pregnant friend didn't end up leaving on her scheduled flight so we got together again tonight.  It was fun.  I won the only game we played, so that feels good.

Our friends left and now we are resting.  I really hope I get a good sleep again tonight.  I'm not really looking forward to this week at work.  Mostly because its a full week of work.

Any way, that's about it.

Sonja

Saturday

Well today was a good day.  I got up at 9, after the cat scratching on the door since 6 or so.  So I got fed up and got out of bed.  I started out the day just surfing on the internet.  After a bit I started to do a bit of homework.  I read a bunch of notes trying to learn some stuff. After that I made the shopping list and menu for the week.  Sonja eventually woke up at 12.  She hasn't been sleeping good all week so she finally was able to catch up.  Unfortunately for me, when she sleeps good I don't.  Sonja likes to sleep talk and wake me up with ridiculous requests or demands.  Last night happened to be one of those demands.  Sonja woke me up by tapping on my forehead and telling me that there was someone at the door at 12:30.  I asked her what made her so sure there was someone there and why she wanted me to go and see.  She just sleepily slurred her answer and I just went back to sleep.  When Sonja got up I asked her what she was talking about last night.  She had no idea so I am glad I don't give into her crazy demands.

After she got up she had breakfast and then we made our way to the store.  As per usual we didn't get everything we need, so we will be going back tomorrow.  The rest of the day was kinda relaxing.  I don't really remember what we did. Eventually I made some supper.  We had some chicken wings and potato skins.  It was some good finger food for us to eat during the Oilers game tonight.  They were the early game on Hockey Night in Canada so it started at four.  It started out a promising game.  Edmonton was up 2-0 for a little bit.  Unfortunately it was too good to last.  They ended up losing 4-3, but it was a better game to watch as they scored a few goals and it wasn't just a blowout like most of the games we get to watch out here.

After the game we went up to Kendra's to play some Phase 10.  It was good, but I got a lot of grief from my glue experience last night.  Sonja won the first game we played and I won the second, condensed game played.  We came home and it was time to fold some laundry and do the blog.

Hospital visit!

I have a big choice to make right now.  I can sit here and once again type out how dull my day was, or I can skip right to the good part, as noted in the title.  I think getting right to the good part would only satisfy our need to have things instantly, so it's on to the boring factor.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a jump.  I was so confused because I didn't know what time or day it was.  Tyler told me it wasn't Friday night but still Thursday night.  I wonder why my mind is always thinking it's not the right time.

I got up at the right time, showered and ate some corn pops.  They are pretty good but not really filling at all.  I find that I'm hungry about an hour later after eating that breakfast.  But I can't help it.  They are so good.

I got to work, ready to be alone all day.  A few people stopped by the detachment, but mostly, I was alone. A few people called in but nothing interesting came in.  I tried to work, but there wasn't much to do today and it's Friday.  I lacked the necessary drive to put any real effort for the end of the week.  The one real highlight in my day came around 3pm.  One of the cops came in with a chocolate brown lab he is looking after and I played fetch with him.  He is a very well behaved dog.  And he is so cute, so it was a good end of the day.

I came home and found out Tyler also had a pretty lazy day.  I started on din din while Tyler started his first test in his anatomy class.  He feels pretty good about how he did on it.  I made fried rice for dinner.  It was basically just veggies with rice and an egg mixture in it.  I really liked it but Tyler was less enthused.  I think it would have worked great as a side dish to salmon or a steak.

And now for the part that is most interesting.  Our friend gave us these things called "Kitty caps".  They are little caps for your cats nails so she can't scratch apart your furniture apart, or in our case, so she can't scratch her face apart.  They stay on with this really quick drying glue.  They say in the instructions that you should avoid contact with skin.  I guess I forgot to mention that to Tyler because as we were filling up one of the little caps with glue, it started pouring out, all down Tyler's arm and sealing his four fingers together very quickly.  It was a slight panic moment as we didn't know how to get his hand apart.  We tried soaking it in hot water and then we were rubbing nail polish on it.  We gave up and headed over to the hospital.  Tyler was worried that he would be made fun but thanks to the rules of patient doctor confidentiality, he doesn't have to worry about it.  We got there and his hospital buddies started to laugh at him.  It was pretty funny.  We went to the lab to see what kind of solvent they have there and we found something to remove the glue.  We sat around while his hand and arm soaked in this mystery stuff and very quickly his fingers got apart.

We came home and Tyler soaked his arm in our turkey roaster to try to get the rest of the stuff off.  And now the night is coming to a close.  It was entertaining, that's for sure.  We got the rest of kitten's nails on and now she sounds like a cute little tap dancer when she walks around.

We are just watching the hockey highlights and I'm pretty sure it's bed time.  Im so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.  It's been a tough week on the sleep.

Happy weekend!

Boring day

Well, today was really boring.  I will try to make this post a little more exciting then my last one.  That was just sad.

I'm pleased to announce that Kitten has learned some kind of lesson and didn't scratch on our door last night.  It was nice to not be annoyed at such an early hour.  Unfortunately it was still a very short night.  Last night I was planning to go to bed to read for a while, but a really stupid movie came on and Tyler and I stayed up pretty late and watched it.  It wasn't a smart idea at all because after the boring day I had yesterday, I couldn't fall asleep.  I didn't expended much energy yesterday so it was tough to get to bed.

So this morning came quickly and it wasn't nice.  I got out of bed no problem, but after a nice hot shower and a bowl of cereal, I was ready to hop back in bed.  And the work day didn't help at all.

I was by myself most of the day, trying to find work to do.  The phones weren't really ringing at all and there weren't a lot of people coming to the front counter.  It probably didn't help that it was pouring rain all day.  It was gloomy.  And I wanted to come home as soon as I got to work.  It's really no fun having no human contact most of the day.  The officers came in and out but it's not the same as actually talking with someone.

I got home at the end of the day to find Tyler making dinner.  It was alright.  I haven't been making good food choices for the menu in the last few weeks.  When I read the recipe book, all these meals look really good.  I think the main problem is that we forget to buy half the ingredients.  It makes the meals a little less then good.

Tyler has spent most of the night studying so I'm pretty bored right now.  I hate sitting and watching tv.  I do stitch and work out a bit, but it always comes back to just sitting here, waiting for Tyler to be done so we can at least have a conversation.

I'm ready for Friday.  I'm ready to sleep in.  I still don't sleep very well at night and it's starting to affect my ability to care about things.  It's pretty annoying to be in this mood but I know that the weekend will cure all the mid-week blues.

Kitten has been a great little girl these days, minus the scratching.  We are hoping her face heals soon so we can put on her little nail covers.  Our friend got us these things called "Kitty Caps" which cover her nails so she doesn't rip her face apart.

As mentioned earlier, it poured all day.  It poured all night and all day and now everything is just saturated in water.  It makes for a very wet shoe and sock when I get to work.

Any way, I hope I haven't bored you all with the details of my boring day.

Last night the cat was pretty good.  She didn't start scratching until after six, which is a huge improvement from the 4 o'clock usual start time.  So I didn't really get back to sleep, so I just waited for the alarm to go off.  I got up and showered and we had breakfast before going off to work.

Work was the same old same old.  Nothing exciting happened.  And it was slow.  The day was eventually half over at lunch and I came home and made a turkey sandwich.  It was good and nice to be home for a bit to relax.  Sonja came home and was cold, so I heated up her magic bag and she had a bowl of chicken noodle soup to warm her from the inside out.  After lunch the rain started, ruining the nice day that had started out.  It rained a lot today.  It was the first time in a while that it actually rained.  I went back to work to resume my slow day.  There was an x-ray to do so I did that and took a little bit of blood in the afternoon.

I came home and had to start studying right away.  I have a test on Friday and need to study lots for it.  So I  did that most of the night.  Sonja made supper tonight because she is just such a sweet hart.  She also did all the dishes for us.  Supper was really good and really simple.  It was just chicken in the frying pan and it tasted so good.  We also had rice with it which is always good.  After supper I studied some more.

I studied until quarter after eight or so.  I'm feeling a little bit better about this test.  I will study again tomorrow night so I can be ready for my test.  I will try to get it done early in the night so I can still have the evening to myself and Sonja.

Happy Birthday Morfar!!

Happy birthday to my Morfar.  I hope you have had a great day today.

It was a pretty good day for me.  I got a half decent sleep, with Kitten waking us up later then usual, around 6am.  It was nice for her to let us sleep in.  We got up, showered and both headed to work.

My work day was actually really great.  My co-worker wasn't there so I had to rely totally my own abilities to figure all the stuff out.  it was nice.  And I had a statement to do, and other stuff to do, so it felt great to actually be busy.

Soon it was lunch and I came home to eat hot dogs.  They were alright.  I mean, it's a hot dog, how good can it really be.

And then back to work.  I was able to keep myself busy most of the day.  By the end, I was kind of sick of working so I spent the last half hour of work fiddling around on the computer.  It was a busy day and a fun day at work.

I got home and finished making dinner that Tyler had started.  We had a turkey pasta keish dish.  It wasn't as good as I pictured it would be.  It was just average.  We had to get ready for the evening.

We actually had plans tonight.  It was really awesome.  Our pregnant friend is leaving town on Friday so we had to have one last get together.  I also had to give her the quilt I made.  It was a great evening.  We played phase 10 and ate food and laughed and it was awesome.  I'm going to miss her.

And now I'm trying to write about the day.  I have to admit, I'm not impressed with this post.  It's kind of boring and I apologize for that.  It's pretty late and I was super distracted.

I'll end it here.

Happy birthday once again.
