Strike
Well again it was a long slow day so I'll skip that. I dealt with three patients. I guess it is to be expected when the town is a fishing based community. Most people are out fishing all of the time so they won't be bothered to come to the doctor unless they are really feeling out of it. After work I tried my hand at catching salmon before Sonja came home. I just went at the end of the rock pier. I took out my new rod which I finally got working properly. It used to be jerky when reeling in but I re-strung it and now it works like it should. I was just casting, minding my business when a fish jumped out of the water 10 feet from me. It scared me pretty good because it was so unexpected. Then fish started to jump all around me. I thought for sure I was to catch one then. Suddenly as I was just about done reeling in my line I saw a silver flash swim by slap my hook with his tail. Apparently thats how salmon feed is that they swim through a school of bait fish and swat at them, then they turn around and see which ones are most disoriented or injured and eat them. And thats exactly what this fish did. Except on the swat he swatted my hook out of the water, so when he would have turned around, there would have been nothing there. It was pretty exciting almost having a salmon finally. I will continue the pursuit, trying to figure these fish out. My line started getting twisted so I decided to call it a day. I came home and met Sonja on her way home and we made supper. It was another experimental meal, but this time it was good. We both enjoyed it. I cut up some peaches and sugared them and we had those for dessert. The rest of the night will be relaxing. Sonja is tired and we will probably go to bed early.
