Last post of this year??

So, Tyler just got me on the interweb...  We are pretty bored here at the airport.  We should be boarding now but our flight got delayed 45 minutes, so it's been a long wait.  There has been a few things to keep us occupied for shorts periods, but I will get to those later.  First, I must tell you about the long and boring day we have had so far.

Right on cue, I woke up at 6:30am, no alarm, no kitty, just from the training of getting up every day at that time.  I wasn't impressed at all.  Tyler said that if I just tried to go back to sleep, I could, but I know that wouldn't happen.  I was already out of that sleepy haze and ready to get going.

Tyler showered and I tried to look for some food to eat for breakfast.  It seems like we did a pretty good job at cleaning out the fridge as we only have butter, mayo, potatoes and a few other non breakfast items.  It was kind of sad.  I had toast with nutella.  It made me very excited for the week to come as there is almost always nutella on Boxing Day.  I'm very excited for the Christmas days ahead.  But first, we have to get home.

Tyler went off to work and I just kind of sat there, thinking of all the things we might have missed in the packing process, what we could possibly leave behind... all sorts of things were running through my mind. I was also trying to spend lots of time with Kitty as she is now at our friends place for Christmas.  I gathered all her belongings and put them by the front door so we could transfer her as quickly as possible when Tyler came home for lunch.

When Tyler did come home, we shoved poor Kitty in her taxi and brought her over.  She didn't so much like that walk.  And then she was stuck in the taxi.  It was all very sad.  I'm hoping she is doing alright now in her home away from home.

We waited around the house for a bit before heading off to the airport.  After seeing the wonderful weather that was outside, we knew we would be getting home tonight.  Tyler had a hot dog for lunch and I had some more toast.  Our home is old mother hubbard right now.

After getting checked into the airport, we sat there for about an hour before boarding.  It was very rough sailing and for the first time in my life, I my heart almost stopped due to turbulence.  It felt like we were literally falling from the sky.  And then we got to Port Hardy.

Once getting to Hardy, we were informed that the key to the fuel truck broke off in the ignition and therefore the plane couldn't refuel.  It seems like there will always be problems when I try to come home.    I don't like that trend.

We finally arrived in Vancouver.  We tried to check in but were told it was too early.  Apparently it's not safe to carry around luggage that's already tagged.  We didn't really understand that logic as we think it would be safer to have it tagged.  Any way, it doesn't matter.  We enjoyed a dinner at White Spot with our giraffe bags and it was all fine.

We past through security following a few people who probably have never flown before.  The girl ahead of me kept on her big coat and a bag around her shoulders.  And she had to fish for her laptop at the bottom of a different bag.  It was ridiculous.

And now we are sitting here, waiting for our delayed flight to come in.  Looks like we will be boarding at 10:30, getting us to Edmonton around 1am.  And then we have to make the drive down to Tyler's parents place.  But, once we get there, there is a very nice soft comfy bed waiting for us.  That's what driving me to not abandon this trip.  Actually, there is much to look forward to, but tonight, right now, that bed is something of an 8th wonder of the world to us.  We are super tired.

A few interesting things have happened to keep our minds stimulated.  There was a guy sleeping next to us that had a snore that would rival a bulldozer.  It was just amazing.  Tyler walked the halls to see how far away it could be heard.  In a noisy terminal, Tyler could hear it about 150 feet away.  And then a cat came around the corner.  It was a sweet cat who was slinking around, acting like it couldn't be seen because it was so close to the floor.  Pretty cute.

And now there is no snoring man as he woke himself up (or maybe it was because I was laughing at him), and no kitty to watch.  Just waiting for time to go faster so we can come home to the land where snow flies.  It's not Christmas out here.  Things are still green.

I played some pac man and solitaire while Tyler reads a new deer magazine.  I'm sure it's more of a hunting, shoot the cute deer type of magazine, but I always try to find the cute pictures of the alive deers.

I don't know what these next 2 weeks have in store, but I wont be blogging about it.

Merry Christmas!!

Tomorrow

Well today I woke up tired again.  I don't know why I haven't been able to sleep good.  I was tired when we went to bed last night and didn't get to sleep until after midnight.  So that was kinda irritating.

I got up at 7:30 and started getting ready for work.  It was the last full day of work.  I got to work and had a few things to do but it didn't last long.  It was a long and slow day.  I did a few x-rays and took blood from 1 person.  It was my longest day this week.  The week started out pretty good because it seemed to go by pretty quick, but the last two days have been pretty slow.  I have four more hours of work until I am off for 17 days.  It is pretty exciting.

I came home after a long day and we went to go see some wolf/husky puppies.  They were really cute and I want one, but they will grow up to be too big for our place right now.  We came home from the puppies and made supper, trying to clean up the last of our food, so it won't go bad while we are gone.  After supper we started packing for our trip.  We are just finishing up some laundry to finish up.

The Oilers are playing tonight so I have been keeping tabs on the game score, they are winning 6-2 5 minutes into the third period.

But we are off tomorrow.  The weather forecast is pretty good.  Sunny with cloudy periods.  So it is looking like we will make it to Vancouver and then we are home free.  Maybe we will be able to get onto the earlier flight to Edmonton.  We will see.

Longest day EVER

I don't think a day has ever lasted as long as this one did.  I'm not usually the type of person who wishes time away, but today dragged on and on.  It never ended.  I'm surprised I made it to the end.

It started out alright.  I had a decent sleep with only one Kitty interruption.  I showered, ate some fruit for breakfast and headed out to work.

I wasn't sure what my day had in store but I was pretty sure it would be dull and boring.  And I was dead on the money.  I had a bit of work to do but quickly got that done and was sitting around waiting for the phone to ring once again.  It was a long day.  I can't even explain how badly I wanted to just be home.

Not much else to say about the work day.  I finally got to come home and started dinner while doing the dishes.  It really showed off my multi tasking ability.  Kitty got a good show.  Tyler came home and we ate real chicken burgers.  We had to eat quickly as we had plans for the evening.

We headed over to our friends house for a game of phase 10.  We had to keep it short as I was tired and need to get some sleep.

We got home a little while and now I'm blogging.  I'm going to bed super soon and can't really focus any more.  I'm still super excited about coming home in 2 days.

3 days

Today the wind was vicious.  It was super windy all night and all of today.  And it poured buckets.  I woke up an hour later than Sonja again and then started to get ready for work.  I got to work and it started out pretty slow.  It picked up later in the day which was nice because it made the day go by quicker since we are waiting for Friday.

Some surprising news though, the plane came in and it was absolutely miserable, so if it can come today when most people thought it wouldn't, I'm pretty sure we will be getting out of here on Friday.  Especially since the weather report is looking up for us today.  It went from 15cm of snow that was being forecasted yesterday, to cloudy with sunny breaks.  So good news for us.

I came home from work at 5 and settled in and Sonja got supper started, when I got a phone call from work calling me back in.  I went back in for a half hour or so to do an x-ray and then came back home.  We were invited over to some of Sonja's co-workers place to play games.  So we went over there at 7.  It was nice because we got to drive.  They lived across town and it was still miserable out.  We played a couple games.  One called Apples to Apples and the other one called Rummolli.  I didn't win any of them.  We came home and drove around looking at all the Christmas lights that people have put up.  Surprisingly there are a lot of lights up here, considering there isn't a Canadian Tire you can just go to to pick up anything you need.

Long monday

Today was a gong show.  It didn't start out that way and it actually was looking like a pretty nice day, until I got to work.

First of all, I got up without Tyler.  I hate it when he is on-call because he gets to sleep an extra hour and it makes for a lonely morning.  I feel like we spend less time together when he sleeps that one extra hour.  It's ridiculous.

So I get to work to find that my co-worker is out sick and I'm the only office worker.  Okay, I can deal with that.  Then when I started to set up the transcribing system, it wouldn't work.  Again, I can deal with that by calling the RCMP help desk.  So I call them up and after being on hold for a few minutes, I get yelled at.  Apparently I called the wrong number and the grumpy guy on the other line kind of told me I shouldn't be calling this number and all this.  It put me in a bad mood.  So I called the other number and ended up talking to a pretty nice guy.  And while I was talking with him, a cup of tea was poured all over the desk.  That part was actually a little funny but the system still wasn't fixed.

Any way, the rest of the day was pretty boring.  Besides a few phone calls, nothing really happened.  A few people came to the detachment to have meetings which meant that the person telling me what to do all day, was locked behind a door all day... meaning I kind of did less then normal.  I was pretty bored so I was texting with Amy and counting down the days.  I also made my list of what to pack for the 2 week trip.

I am just so excited to come home.

Tired day

Today was a tiring day.  I slept a little bit better last night.  I was able to sleep in until 9:30 which is always nice.  I got out of bed and got a call from work so I went in.  I was there for over an hour and then was able to come home.  I came home and we watched some of Dodgeball.  About an hour later I got called back into work.  Again I was there for about an hour before being able to come back home.  I came home and we went off to the store to pick up a few things we didn't get yesterday.  We heard there was another flea market, so we went.  It was the same as yesterday, but a little bit more tables of stuff.  We didn't buy anything today.

After the flea market we came home and I made some chicken balls for lunch.  I ate to many and have spent the rest of the day too full and tired.  Eventually I went and took a nap.  I was pretty tired and still am.  I woke up from my nap and we started to watch the Oilers play Vancouver.  It was a pretty boring game for us to watch, they were losing so after the second period we turned it off hoping that they would turn the game around.  They didn't and lost 2-1.

We are watching The Simpsons and I will make some popcorn as soon as I am done this.

We are excited to come home.  5 days left.  The weather is calling for scattered flurries right now.  As long as they aren't scattering at 12 when the plane comes in.

Card night!

I woke up at about 5 and didn't go back to sleep.  I thought that if I went to the bathroom instead of just ignoring it, I would be able to get back to sleep and have a great morning.  I couldn't have been more wrong.  I just laid there, eyes not wanting to shut, wishing Tyler would stop tossing and turning.  Turns out, he had been awake since 3 for some reason and was a little restless.  It's annoying being awake when you just want to sleep.

Other then waking up too early, our morning was great.  We had made the grocery list Friday night so it was a nice relaxing morning.  Tyler had to go into work at 10, so we planned on going to the store once he got home again.

And that's what we did.  We went to store and surprisingly found most items on our list.  We have to go back tomorrow because apparently, real chicken breast is not good enough for chicken burgers.  Tyler needs to have the mashed up chicken bits burgers that we always buy.  I would rather have real chicken but if that's what he wants, who am I to stop him.

We came home, unpacked the food, and ate some breakfast.  There was a flea market at the hall today so we went to the hall to see if there were any possible Christmas gifts there.  There wasn't.  It was mostly just a used clothes sale with a few pretty cool things.  We entered a draw to win etched glass made by someone local.  It's this huge mirror with a really cool etching on it that I really really want.  We would buy one straight up, but they are pretty pricy for us right now, what with coming home and stuff.  So we will see if we win it a few days before Christmas.

We didn't buy anything so we came home and cleaned the house.  We were having friends over tonight and one of them is allergic to cats, so we dusted, vacuumed and got rid of all the stuff that just seems to collect every where.  Our house is now ready for us to go on holidays too, so thats nice.

The day went pretty quickly.  We went to a craft sale at around 4 and bought a few really cool ornaments.   We will be bringing them home at Christmas to show off because they are just so awesome.  We just had to have them.  We also bought a pretty cool locally made tree skirt.  I'm looking forward to showing off these cool things.  I hope there is room in the suitcase for them.

After looking around, we came back home to eat some din din.  We had chicken burgers and they were so so good.  I love real chicken burgers.  They are so filling.

Our friends were coming over shortly after dinner was made so we got ready for them to arrive.  They showed up and we played another game of Phase 10.  Tyler won, the little Turkey.  I almost caught up to him but he pulled out all the stops.  Then we played Dutch Blitz.  It's a new favorite.  It was well received.  Another game with lots of laughs and the most ridiculous comments.  They just left and now it's probably off to bed.

Less then one week until we get to be home.  I can't wait.  Keep praying the weather holds out and lets us out of here.  There is nothing worse then when plans get messed up and the whole day turns into a gong show.  Trust me, I know.  At least this time, if things turn to crap, I will have Tyler's shoulder to cry on instead of no ones.

The weather today was pretty decent.  Tyler went to the grocery store in his flip flops so I guess it was warm enough to do that, even though he said they were turning purple on the way home.  It rained a little and didn't for a while.  Kind of a blah day, weather-wise.

Kitty is still coned.  Not much news on that front.  She still loves to sleep on my stomach at night, and I like it too.  She still loves to run around like a crazy person.  I'm going to miss her when we are home, but its a good thing we will be with family and friends.  I can't wait.

1 week

Today I got to sleep in an hour because I am on call for the next week.  Unfortunately I was unable to fall back to sleep and take advantage of it after Sonja got up.  So I got up around 7:30 and got ready for work.

At work I managed to keep myself busy for the majority of the day which is always nice.  It makes the days go by quicker.  Especially since we are waiting and excited to come home.  At this time next week we will be waiting in the airport in Vancouver.  We are excited.

After work I came home and found that supper was ready.  We had a spicy chicken pasta kinda of a dish.  It was really good.  After supper we played some Mario Kart and I totally won.  I left Sonja in the dust.  It was fun mainly because she has been beating me the last few times we have played.  Sonja is now watching HGTV because house hunters is on.  I am trying to watch the Oilers game on a pretty terrible internet feed.  I don't know what the plan is for the rest of the night.  Sonja wants to watch Dateline and 20/20.  So we probably will.

Bedtime might come early.  I have to go into work tomorrow morning but not until 10.  So hopefully I can sleep in a bit and take advantage of the late start time.

One week until we come home.  The plane came in today which is a good sign, because it was kinda miserable and cloudy and rainy, so hopefully that pilot is flying our plane next week.

8

8 more days till we get to come home.  So far, the weather network isn't being nice to us.  We've been watching it for the past little while, and it went from sunny to rainy/snowy on that day.  We keep hoping and praying that its nice enough to fly out of here.  Keep praying for us please.

Once again I woke up super super early.  Kitty was racing around and that's not a nice way to wake up.  I woke up around 4 and didn't go back to a full sleep.  The alarm sang its song yet again and we officially started the day.

After breakfast, hockey highlights and a good teeth brushing, we were both off to work.  My day started pretty boring.  I was filling out paper work basically to show that we did paper work.  It seemed like a waste of time but I got paid for it so I'm not complaining.  I was also texting with Amy the whole day, so that was nice.

Lunch came and went and we were back at work again.  My afternoon consisted of shredding, fixing the shredder, putting files away.  It was a long day.

This whole week has seemed to go pretty quickly, as it is already Friday tomorrow.  But today was very slow.  Painfully slow.  I'm just looking forward to going home.  I'm looking forward to each day we get to see family, friends and everything.  It's not coming quick enough.  I want to meet little Madison for the first time.  I think that might be the first thing I'm looking forward to.  And then everything else to follow...

We are both so tired again so it's probably early to bed.  Not sure why we have such bad sleeps... maybe it's the anticipation.

Just to warn you all, we probably wont be blogging every day over our vacation.  Don't be too surprised.

8 more days... and counting.

9

I woke up kinda tired and didn't sleep well most of the night.  The time to get up came to soon.  We had cereal as usual.

Today work started out kinda busy which is nice, but as to be expected, it slowed down again.  So the rest of the day went by kinda slow.  It is finally over and is nice.  I came home and made supper.  I made cheese burger soup.  It was good, except by the time I was done cooking, and washing dishes, and eating it I was too hot to be comfortable.

After supper Sonja played some DDR and I called home.  Nothing seems to be new there.

We are now watching Shrek 4 and it is pretty funny so far.

9 days until we come home.  We are getting really excited.

10!!!

So, right off the bat, I'm going to talk about how there is only 10 more days till we are on our way home.  I'm getting so impatient and it's putting me in a bad mood.  I just want to come home.  I just want to see our family and friends.  I want to meet little Madison.  Even though I want to come home, I also know that those 2 weeks are going to be crazy busy and go by super fast.  In a way, the anticipation is half the fun.  Probably not half the fun because I'm hoping our trip home will be the best time ever.

My day started out crappy.  Only 2 things happened that made that so, but still, it wasn't a nice way to start a Tuesday.  The first thing was that sweet Kitty decided to use my back as a scratching post, which woke me up.  She also decided to sit on my stomach and sleep right in the wrong spot.  Once the alarm was turned off, we hoped in the shower, ate some breakfast.  That brings me to the second thing that made my morning unpleasant.  After I finished brushing my teeth, I went to turn the tap off.  It was wet and my finger slipped, and my knuckle started bleeding pretty good.  It hurt a lot as there was already a wound there.

I got over that with the help of a hug from Tyler and soon I was at work.  My back was still hurting pretty bad so I asked Tyler to make me an appointment at the doctors office.  And then I went back to work.  Everyone at the office was dragging their feet today.  We all didn't sleep well last night.  I kept waking up every time I moved.  It was a tough long day.

After lunch, I went to my appointment and the doctor said that it was just tight muscles and gave me some muscle relaxing medication.  As usual, the doctor didn't really say much except it could be caused by the cold weather, the fact that I haven't worked out since I got this new job.  That made me really want to start working out again.  I shouldn't be in pain so I'm going to start doing more stuff.  Not sure what that looks like but it will happen.  I just have to make time for it.

I went back to work and soon the day was over.  I walked out of work and Tyler was waiting for me.  We were going to go to the cafe to see if there were any Christmas gift ideas.  After no success, we went to the band store to pick up tiny oranges.  Instead we ran into many other shoppers doing last minute shopping.

We didn't really feel like making a real dinner so we ate some leftover lasagna and sat down to watch the oiler game.  And we've been sitting ever since.  I stretched out my back and stitched, while Tyler played some games.

I'm going to bed pretty quickly as I'm super tired.

The weather was on and off today.  Raining and then not raining.  Not that exciting.

Kitty also is a turkey.  She has this new habit of running and jumping on the coffee table.  She usually slides on all the paper that builds up and it's pretty cute.  She also likes to sit on a little table we have beside our little couch, and usually in the morning, we heard the key bowl hitting the floor along with a bunch of other stuff we have there.  I love that Kitty.

Keep praying for the grand parental unit and the weather.

11

Monday seemed to come too soon and went by to slow.  It started early.  We got up and started to get ready for work.  We just had regular cereal for breakfast and then it was off to work.  It started pretty good.  The morning went by pretty quick and then it was lunch time.  I had left over tacos for lunch.  Sonja came home and joined me at 12.  She had hurt the muscles in her back somehow so I tried to rub them better.

I had to go back to work at 12:30 and then the afternoon drug on.  It didn't seem too busy.  I had a few things to do, but not to much.

I came home at 4 and started to make supper.  But first I had to wash the dishes that would be needed.  So I did that.  Then I started the lasagna.  It was delicious.  Extra meat, extra sauce and extra cheese.  It was really good.  After supper we watched Dexter.  It was so good.  Sonja was hyper-ventilating again.  One more episode for them tie up all the loose ends.

After Dexter we played a marathon game of Mario Kart.  We played all 32 tracks on it and Sonja ended up winning by 2 points.  We are now just relaxing and Sonja is looking for gift ideas for people to get her.  Mythbusters is on so I have been watching that.

Sorry the post is so late and short.  Only 11 days until we come home.  The 14 day trend forecast has sun and cloud for the 17th which is good.

Cat nap

Today was a very nice Sunday.  I didn't sleep well as Mrs. Magoo Kitty decided to climc and fall off the dresser several times.

Tyler got out of bed around 8 and I follow at 8:30.  It was much earlier then I expected to get out of bed because we didn't go to bed until 1 last night.

And the day was great.  I cross-stitched and Tyler played a hunting game on his phone.  We watched a few movies on tv while we took it easy.  I became super tired from not doing anything all day, and I fell asleep around 3.  When I woke up, there was a kitty snuggled up to me and Tyler was taking a picture of us.

Then we ate a dinner of tacos prepared special by Tyler.  He makes a good meal.  I decided to blog early as I'm likely going to bed early tonight.  I'm still tired and I'm hoping Kitty doesn't  wake me up to often tonight.

12 more days till we are home.  I'm getting so excited that it's driving me crazy how badly I want to be home.  I want to meet Madison, hang out with friends and family, and enjoy a white Christmas.  There is no snow on the ground out here, just on the mountain tops on the mainland.  It doesn't even feel like December to me.  I miss december at my home.  All the decorations in their spot, the advent calendar missing only a few boxes.  Out here, we only have 2 decorations up.  One string of Santa clothing, and one string of Mrs. Clause clothing.  I guess since out walls are green our entire place is Christmas themed.  But I miss the regular decorations I grew up with.  Only a few more weeks till we get to come home.  Keep praying for good weather.

And for Opa and Oma.  I love you guys and think of you every day.

13

Today was a relaxing day.  Unfortunately it started too early, and not because of work.  The cat was kinda annoying and thats what woke me up at 6.  I didn't really get back to sleep even though I tried.  I finally got tired of trying and got out of bed around 8:30.  Sonja joined me shortly after.  She worked on her cross-stitch and I started the shopping list.  We have to cut back a bit the next weeks so we don't have a ton of stuff in the fridge when we come home.

We went to the store at 12 because thats what time the flea market was supposed to start.  So we went to where it was supposed to be and found that nothing had been set up yet.  This didn't surprise me as thats the way it goes around here.  So dejected we went to the store to buy our goods.  We found everything we needed.  We found out that there was a loonie auction/flea market at the church.  So we went home to drop of our stuff.  We had something to eat and then off to the auction at the church.  I don't really understand how it worked as there wasn't much organization.  It looked like a big garage sale with door prizes.  So we walked the ring and then came home.

We watched some TV and relaxed.  Sonja was tired so she went to take a nap at three.  She got up at 4 and came and laid with me on the couch.  We both fell asleep until 5.  We woke up and decided to make supper.  I took out some chicken and cooked it up.  We had chicken and bacon burgers.  They were super good.

Tonight since supper we have played a little bit of Mario Kart and are now watching the Oilers play St. Louis.  Still 0-0 near the end of the 2nd.  No plans for when the game is over.

Tyler

Oh 13 days until we come home.  It was sunny and gorgeous today, so hoping that it will be the same in 2 weeks.

Finally Friday!

It's finally the best day of the week.  Oh how I love Fridays.

Last night was the office Christmas party.  I wasn't going to go because Tyler couldn't, and who wants to go to a party without their husband.  I was convinced to go and the person who did the convincing didn't even show up.  But that's okay.  I walked down to the docks in the rain and waited for everyone else to show up under a roof.  Soon, one of the cop car pulled up and I jumped in.  Most of the people were going to the party on the seabus, as it was on another island, but I like to travel in style.  I went to the party on the police boat.

I was a little nervous of the ride for one reason.  This past week I have been reading all the old missing person files that have happened around this area.  Most of the people who went missing are presumed drowned as their bodies have never been recovered from the water.  So with that in mind, I climbed on the boat and was the only one to wear a life jacket.

We pulled up to the house where the party was, and I want to move in there.  It was the nicest, coziest palace I've been in for a while.  It had the feel of a small cabin but it was pretty much a giant house.

The party was pretty fun.  I was the only person who didn't have their spouse there, so it was a little sad for me.  The others made it fun though.  We played a bunch of games, ate good food and drank some good drinks.  There were a lot of laughs and I'm glad I went.

I came home at 1am in the morning.  I wasn't so tired but I cuddled into bed beside Tyler.  I woke him up by accident.  We talked for a little bit and went straight to sleep.  Or so I thought.  Apparently, I turned on the light in the middle of the night, and then a little while later, I started screaming at someone. I only found out about that this afternoon.

I was told last night that I didn't have to be at work till 1pm.  That was nice.  I got to sleep in and it was a nice change from waking up at 6:45am.  I woke up when Tyler got out of bed.  I got out of bed, played DDR, showered, ate something, looked at stuff on the internet and didn't do much else.  Tyler came home for lunch and I went off to work.

I typed a few statements and then didn't do much else there either.  It was nice to only work a few hours as there wasn't anything happening around that place.

I came home and started doing the pile of dishes.  It's always a hassle doing those by yourself, but soon Tyler came and helped finish them with me.  We also made a dinner of chicken burgers.  It was an alright meal.  I'm getting a little sick of those fake chicken burgers.  Real chicken is always best, but we didn't thaw any.

And then we did nothing.  I have started a new cross-stitch and it's turning out pretty nice.  Tyler is still studying for his FAC so we keep pretty busy at night.

I'm excited for the weekend.  There is a flea market tomorrow, so who knows what we will find.  I'm excited.  It should be a fun time.

Sonja

Also, Opa and Oma still need prayer from as many people who can give it.  Thanks every one :)

Cats gone

Well today the kitten left.  She ended up stinking up the bathroom in her short time staying here.  But now the bathroom is now cleaned up and de-stunk.  We are now down to one cat again, which is all I can handle.

Today I woke up around 6 and didn't really sleep to much afterwards.  Which is too bad because I get the extra hour and haven't been able to capitalize on it this week.  I got up and said good morning to Sonja and got ready for work.  I watched the highlights from the Oilers game last night.  They won last night which is always nice.  I wasn't able to see any of the goals they scored because it was in Montreal so it started when I was still at work and all the other goals they scored we were eating supper.  But it looked like it was a good game.

I went to work and found that it was actually busy.  I had some x-rays to do and there was lots of blood work to be done.  The morning went by pretty quickly because of that.  Soon it was lunch and I came home.  I had leftover turkey noodle soup for supper.  It was alright, but more of a gelatin.  It didn't re-liquify no matter how long I microwaved it for.  It might work if I add water to it.

The afternoon was the complete opposite as the morning.  It was pretty slow but seemed to go by faster than yesterday did.  Again the Oilers were playing, this time in Toronto so it was another 4 o'clock start. It wasn't on TV that we get, so I had to keep tabs on the internet.

I came home at 5 and made some popcorn chicken for supper.  Sonja is off at her Christmas party, so I am home watching TV.  I watched the Oilers highlights from the game.  They won 5-0, giving them 3 straight wins for the first time this season.

No plans for me tonight.  I will be watching the Office but that is about it.

Good day!

Today was an excellent day.  Well, the end of it was the best part, but I'll get to that accordingly.

Kitty came for a morning snuggle again this morning.  It's almost like she knows we are leaving in 2 weeks and wants all the time she can get with us.  I appreciate it because I love her so much.  Tyler hates it because he she isn't his favorite thing to wake up to.

I got out of bed a little before my alarm went off, which never happens.  I showered and ate my tastylicious breakfast, Multigrain cheerios.  They are just what I need in the mornings.

Once at work, I was looking forward to burning the rest of the purged files.  But it was raining.  And then it rained some more and a little bit more after that.  The only time it didn't rain was when we were all on lunch.

Since there are now 3 office workers, there isn't a ton of work for me to do.  The woman I replaced is kind of coming back to work, sort of, but she is still having issues to deal with, so I'm working on all those tasks that no one else wants to do.  But, today was pretty boring.  I wasn't given a lot of direction so when the other two were off talking, I was reading some police magazines.

And then a little sweetie pie came into the detachment.  Two people came into work holding a little kitten.  She needed a home just for the night and is getting shipped away tomorrow.  She is so cute.  Her name is Brand New Kitty.  She has the littlest voice and I don't think she normally gets a lot of attention because she already loves me.  She lives in the bathroom because regular Kitty doesn't appreciate cute things like I do.  Tyler and I gave her a bath so she is all clean but I'm worried about ear mites and other cat problems she might have.  So she is spending the evening and night in the bathroom.  We turned the heat up and gave her some blankets.  I have to change clothes and wash  every time I leave the cuddle room.  I don't want Kitty to catch anything.  Our kitty knows something is up.  She is acting like she is neglected but she really isn't.  We are giving her extra love to make sure she knows we still love her.

It's been a good day.  I have a little kitten in the bathroom who I'm only kind of in love with.  I don't think it will be too tough to give her away tomorrow.  I have a great husband who let Brand New Kitty have a comfortable sleep tonight.

Keep praying for the weather and for Opa.  More so for Opa because its more important that he gets healthier.

I'm the author of todays blog because I've been convinced to attend the detachments Christmas party.  I wasn't going to go originally because I don't like going to things without Tyler.  He is on call so he can't leave the island.  But, I'm going with my co-workers and they are pretty fun.

Any way, I have a kitten to attend to.  Kitten orphanage has it's first guest and I want her to have a nice visit.

Shredder

Last night, Kitty decided a comfy place to sleep was right on my very full bladder.  I was awake a little before she came in and decided I could easily fall back asleep without getting up to go to the bathroom.  I really should have.  I was awake many more times resulting in a very early morning when that alarm sounded.

I got out of bed, showered, and ate my breakfast.  The mornings are pretty dull and boring when Tyler gets to sleep in.  I don't like it, but I guess it's nice for him to get to sleep in, since he has to work later and is on call.

I got to work fully knowing what my day was going to be like.  Yesterday, I spent the day shredding and nearly broke the machine.  Today, I was a little afraid of it blowing up.  I got there and started my work.  It still wasn't working properly at all.  I turned off the shredder and checked out the blades.  They were completely packed with little bits of paper.  It took me 2 hours to get all that paper out of there.  It also cost me some skin on my knuckles because the space the paper was in was pretty small.  I had grease and oil all over my hands and my knees hurts.  And it wasn't even worth it.  After only a few more pieces of paper, it was all clogged up again.  It was such a waste of time.  So I quit.  I threw up my hands and said, "You win, Shredder."  Actually, I went out and complained a little, and I got a new older shredder.  And it worked much better.  I got my work done by 3:30 and went on to my other job.  I got to go through other files to make sure there were holes punched in each paper and fastened into a duo-tang.  That took no time at all so I went back to the lunch room.  It was decided that the older files were going to be burned to save the shredder.

And then we went outside and started a fire.  It was fun.  It seems so bad to be burning all those important documents, but that's what made it so much fun.  I get to burn some more tomorrow, if the weather holds.

I got home ready to make din din.  It was classy chicken night and I was pretty excited about it.  Then I looked in the fridge and realized we had no class, no broccoli.  I made it any way, but it sure wasn't as classy as it normally is.

After dishes and the meal, I played some DDR.  Man, I love that game.  Then I got too hot so I sat down.  Soon, mom called and we talked for a little while.  It makes me all the more excited to come home.  Keep praying for the weather.

Speaking of the weather, it poured all day long.

And speaking of prayer, my grandparents need some.  My Opa apparently isn't doing as well as he normally is and could really use some prayers.  Thanks :)

Our night has been uneventful, which is nice because I'm so tired.  My feet hurt from standing all day.  It's almost pathetic, but its true.

That's about it for me.  My eyes are trying to stay open right now, so I I should be going.

18 more days till home time.  Keep praying for that weather :)

Windy night

Today I got to sleep in a little bit.  I didn't really sleep too much beyond my regular time because thats just how things have been going lately.  I got up and got ready for work as usual.  Sonja went to work at 8 and had a boring day shredding paper.  My day unfortunately was equally exciting.  I wish it was just a little bit busy, especially these next couple weeks so our trip home will come faster.

I came home and we made supper and washed the dishes that stacked up yesterday.  We had tex-mex potatoes.  They turned out alright.  Pretty much just a glorified baked potato.  The wind has picked up and is now pretty ferocious out there.

We just finished watching last nights thrilling episode of Dexter.  It was super intense.  Sonja was breathing heavily and tensed right up.  There are only two episodes left and we have no idea how it is going to be wrapped up but we are excited about it.

17 more days until we come home.  Sonja was told that the RCMP have a plane flying out on the 15, so if the weather is looking iffy for our scheduled fly day, we may look into getting out of here the couple days early.  The unfortunate part of that is the plane is flying to Prince Rupert, so we would have to rent a car or something and drive home.  We will see though.  Just pray the weather will be clear enough to get the plane in, so we will be able to leave.

November 28

Another Sunday done and gone.  Another day where I woke up far too early for my liking.  Yesterday it was 7:30, today, 8:30.  I guess I was all caught up on my sleep, but I sure didn't want to be.  I enjoy sleeping and tomorrow I have to wake up at 6:45 which Tyler sleeps in for another hour.  What a brat!

Today was a good day.  I had a goal of finishing my cross-stitching project today, so thats pretty much all I did today.  Tyler studied for his FAC.  During the day, we went out to the store to get a few things.  Car litter, chick burgers, noodles and barley.

Our main goal for the day was to make turkey noodle soup.  Actually, Tyler was the only one who really put some effort into the meal.  I stitched all day.

There isn't much more to say about our day.  Once dinner was ready, we ate a hardy turkey soup.  It was so good.  It was really filling.

I finished my project, which makes me so so happy.

I feel bad because this is kind of a horrible post, but I don't really have much else to day.  Sorry folks.

Flea market

Today was a good relaxing day.  I woke up at 6 likely because of the cat and tried to go back to sleep for the next three hours.  I think I finally fell asleep again and then was woken up by my phone ringing.  It was mom asking what we wanted for Christmas.  I don't really know but I tried to give her some ideas.  I then got out of bed and joined Sonja as she got up around 7:30 when she decided she was awake enough to start the day.

I made a shopping list and we went out to get our food supply.  I decided that it was pizza night tonight so I tried to make some dough when we got home.  It didn't really work to well and I have decided to retire from dough making.  There was a flea market and Christmas extravaganza today over at Shearwater.  So we decided to go over and check it out.  There were also free rides across on the seabus.  We got over there and tried to find where it was at when we saw a sign that said it was postponed until next weekend.  So we hopped back on the seabus and came home right away.  So all we got out of the deal is a free ride on the seabus.  We came home and started our Saturday afternoon relax fest.  We watched Casino Royale.

After the movie was over it was time to make supper, but first we needed to clean the dishes to make some counter space.  It turned out that I am the worst dough maker in the world as the dough didn't rise at all after sitting all day.  So I rolled it out anyway and made our supper.  It was alright but not as good as Sonja's pizza is.  After supper we played some Mario Kart and are now watching the Oilers game.  It started alright, but isn't going so well right now, being down two goals.

Today was a good day.  I was tired right from the get-go though, which makes for a long day.

Not much happened when I got to work.  I took a walk to the post office to drop off the mail.  Had a nice conversation with the post office lady.  I also realized I am 22 years old.  I know that sounds really stupid, but I actually had to type in the numbers to the calculator, and it shocked me a little.  Not that I think I'm that old or anything, but was just a little strange.

It was a pretty boring day, but I got a lot of stuff done.  I organized a box, punched a few holes in some papers.  It was dull.  But the day went pretty quick.

Soon I was home and found Tyler taking a nap, which made me realize how tired I was.  We had plans to go to Shearwater for dinner with some friends, and when we got there, I was told that the boss I would have had if I stayed at the other job was also going to be there.  I was a little nervous, but I don't think there is any hard feelings.

It was an interesting evening.  It was fun.  The first thing I didn't really like was that someone chose to sit in the bar area.  There was a huge tv that was blaring loud and I couldn't hear anyone talk.  Secondly, one person who will remain unnamed, put his headphones on and didn't include himself in any conversation.  I thought it was a little rude especially when he started singing out loud.  It was just strange.  I ordered a chicken clubhouse on toasted sourdough, and they got most of the order right.  It came on whole wheat.  It was a good evening, and on the way home, we figured out that there is a Christmas Extravaganza over in Shearwater, with a free watertaxi ride over.  It should be a good chance to get some Christmas shopping done.

And now we are home and heading to bed.  I've been sleepy for most of the evening so off we go.

Sonja

Oh yeah, if everyone could start praying that December 17th is nice clear flying weather, that would be great.  The planes haven't been coming in because of the crappy weather and I'm getting a little nervous that this trend will continue.  And I want to come home on the 17th.  Thanks!

Today we woke up to the sound of rain.  Again rain.  It warmed up to plus 4 and I guess it had been raining all night.  All the snow has been washed away.  It is now just rainy Bella Bella again instead of an island winter wonderland.  It continued raining all day.

I went to work and managed to keep myself sort of busy in the morning.  I did a few x-rays and some blood work.  Enough that the morning went by pretty quick it seemed.  The afternoon didn't go the same.  It was slow again.  I suppose it is to be expected as there has been a couple deaths in the community this week so the town is in mourning.  I expect tomorrow will be the same, being Friday and there is a funeral tomorrow.

I came home and started to make supper.  I made shwarties casserole and leftover ham.  It was good but almost to much.  After supper Sonja made some Oreo blizzards to make sure we felt full all night.  It worked because I still don't feel very good from the delicious food tonight.

Tomorrow the weather is to be much of the same.  We are going to Shearwater for supper with our friends.  It should be good because meals out are always nice, and we don't need to cook.

Sorry my posts have been so short lately.  Nothing really happens to me worth noting.  Its dark most of the time we are home so we can't see and whales or anything in the ocean.  I guess I saw a robin today.  I heard they are here late for some reason.

Another night where Kitty didn't wake us up.  She "pride rocked" me this morning at about 6:30 and when we get up at 6:45, it's nothing to get upset about.  Tyler calls it "pride rocking" because I usually wake up on my side, and she perches herself right up there and just sits on me.  It's pretty cute.

We got out of bed, showered and were enjoying breakfast soon enough.  I got my hair cut last night so I had to spend a bit of time on it this morning.  But I like the cut because it's something different then what I've had for the past 7 months.

We left for work.  I probably should have been more nervous for the day then I was, but I was feeling good about the coming day.  The reason for the possible nerves is because today I was working by myself.  I was the only office worker there because the other woman is away for holidays.  It's fun to know that the bosses know I can do this job alone.  It's a great feeling being trusted already.  I'm not being babysat at all and that's really awesome for me.  And today was a tough day.  The weather caused a car accident on the island involving a person whose family lives here so there were many phone calls regarding that.  And I handled each one professionally and awesomely.

It was a quick day for me and soon I was walking home.  The weather today was ever changing.  It started pretty nice, little wind and no snow.  By mid day is was snowing which turned into sleet and now it is raining.  I came home to the smell of deliciousness in my nose.  Tyler had made chicken  and we had tasty chicken burgers, with tomatoes, lettuce, mayo and the best part: BACON.  I have a new love for bacon.  I never use to really like eating it because it always seems rubbery and gross.  But when Tyler cooks it, oh man, is it ever good.

The rest of the night has been spent working on finishing my cross-stitch.  It's so close to be done and I'm looking forward to not having one to work on for a little while.  Tyler is studying for his FAC.  It's been a nice evening together.

I seriously can't wait to see family and friends at Christmas.  I started crying the other night because I was thinking about my dad and some good memories I have of us.  It's not even that fantastic of a memory.  Just us hanging around the house, when mom wasn't home and Tyler was working.  Dad would ask me what I wanted for dinner and I would ask for pork tenders.  And dad would cook them up for us.  It's simple, but it made me miss home.  My parents, Tyler's parents.  Just the feeling of home.  It's a feeling that I've taken for granted and I just want to come home.  It will be good to get home to give away and take some very welcome hugs :)

Looking forward to it.  One month till Christmas Eva!!!!

Slow Day

We went to bed really early last night as we were both tired and actually able to get to sleep early.  The night was peaceful.  The cat kept to herself and didn't wake us up again which is always nice.

We woke up and got ready for work.  It was still dark when we woke up.  It had warmed up a bit over the night, kinda.  The wind stopped so it seemed warmed without the blistering cold wind.  I went to work hoping to be kinda busy and was sadly disappointed.  It was super slow.  I dealt with three people all day.  Makes the day drag by.

I came home after my slow day and went out to buy some things before settling in for the night.  I started doing the dishes as they have been piling up for a while.  Sonja was going to be late coming home because she was going to get her hair cut.  So I started the dishes.  I only had a little bit of time because TSN was doing the new episode of Oil Change which is a documentary about the changes the Oilers are doing this year in the quest to be a Stanley Cup winner.  It was the second episode since the hockey season started.  It was really cool because it shows footage from in the dressing room during intermission and pre-game speeches and a behind the scenes look at how the team works.  While that was on I did dishes during the commercials trying to finish up the dishes.  I was just finishing up when Sonja came home with her new haircut.  It looks good.  A lot shorter than it was, which she likes.  I made supper and we sat down to start watching the hockey game.  We had deer steaks and rice for supper. They were delicious.  The Oilers didn't fare so well.   They ended up losing 5-0 which is too bad.

Nothing planned for the rest of the night.

Try to stay warm.

Cold and Windy :(

Last night was a good night.  Kitty co-operated with us and didn't wake either of us all night long.  It was nice to finally get a good nights sleep.  We woke up this morning to find her sleeping in a sweater nest on our dresser.  She is pretty cute.

I ate my multigrains and Tyler had some honeynuts.  Ty wasn't feeling well, so that isn't a great way to start a day.

I went to work in the blowing, howling, chilling wind.  It was so cold that my raincoat started to freeze.  I only know that because it started making a crinkly sound.  I will be wearing a different coat tomorrow.  It sets the tone for the rest of the day, and if I'm already frozen at 8am, then the rest of the day goes down hill.

I'm not fully sure what I did all day.  I know for sure that I sorted out charts.  That was a tough job.  But I finished it all up so I hope to never have to do it again.  I had a cookie at break, which was soft and fantastic.  At around 4, I ran out of things to work on.  I was told to just putter around for the rest of the day.  So, I didn't do anything.  Tomorrow I have to put all the charts back in their homes, so that should take about an hour.

I got home, once again wind blown, Tyler and I went out shopping again.  The problem with this town is that when the roads are icy, the food doesn't make it from the ferry to the grocery store.  We haven't had yogurt in a few weeks.  Yogurt is a vital food source for me, so I've been going through some withdrawal.  Also, I eat it really fast, so it's hard to keep track of.

We went out and then came in.  We watched another episode of Dexter, which once again, shocked me. Whenever I watch that show, I'm reminded of my mom and how she reacts to shocking moments in tv.  It's always funny and I can't wait till she sees this season.  I also miss my mom and dad.  I miss family and friends and I'm so excited to come home for Christmas.

Our night has been great.  I called Eva and we talked and it was great.  Another person who I miss!  I also texted with Amy and Eva most of the day, while I was puttering.

I wish it was closer to being home time.  I miss you all!

Winter day

Today I was called in for work at 9 o'clock.  It was nice to sleep in a bit because I was expecting to get woken up a little earlier, so the extra hour was nice.  I was there for an hour and came back home to relax.

I came home and found that Sonja was watching a movie on TV.  We went to go to the flea market at the hall today but it still wasn't open and the store wasn't either.  We came home and watched some more TV.  After 12 we went back to the store to pick up some yogurt and some fruit for smoothies.  They didn't have either so we ended up buying some chips and ice cream instead.  We found out that they weren't fully stocked yet because the trailers are stuck at the ferry terminal because they can't get up the hill because of all the ice on the roads.  So we will go back tomorrow and try to get the remainder of our groceries.

The weather has been pretty nice lately.  The sun has been shining and has just been windy.  It feels like the prairies.  We didn't do much today.  Sonja worked on her project and we watched TV.  We went over to Kendra's to play cards at 6.  I was the first game and Sonja won the second.  It was fun.

We are home and getting ready for bed shortly.  It an early morning tomorrow as I don't get to sleep in longer than Sonja.  I have to get up with her.

Saturday Goodness

Last night was a great night.  I only woke once to go to the bathroom but slept soundly most of the night.  Tyler kind of woke me up when he got out of bed to go to work, but I think I was on my way out of sleep when he got up.

I kind of lingered in half sleep/half awake mode before I finally got out of bed at 8:45am.  I thought Tyler would be home sooner then he was, mostly because he said he wouldn't take super long at work.  Since today was grocery day, I didn't eat breakfast because it was still early in the day.  We didn't have much food in the house this morning.  Tyler finally came home and apparently it was a tough few hours at work.

I had made a partial grocery list for the week.  I am a little uninspired for what to cook up this week.  It's surprising how we got about 10 cook books for wedding gifts, and I'm already slightly bored of them.  We have particular tastes in our little family.  I mean, you probably thought Kitty was picky with only eating her special food, but us human types are almost as bad.  I guess I just don't like thinking about it.  If it were to just make itself every week and I would just have to cook it every day, that would work fine for me.  I know fully understand why Mom always asked the entire family what they wanted for dinner.  With 6 family members, you get one dish per person per week.  So now the plan is to have 5 kids so the entire week is covered for us.  Sounds like a bullet proof plan on how to avoid coming up with 7 meals.  I'll have to run it past Tyler.

We went to the store to find it mostly empty.  The items I wanted to buy weren't on the shelves, like yogurt, bananas.  Actually even the milk was half price because it expires in under a week.  It's a good deal because I drink milk like it's water.

We came home, tidied up the house and then the rest of the day was a slight blur.  I know we ate some lunch, watched a bit of tv while either cross-stitching or surfing the internet.  There was some Kitty racing around, some snacking, and while we were deciding which movie to end out night with, our neighbor knocked on our door and handed us one.

We watched Inception, which I heard was pretty good, but I didn't know it would be that good.  It's nice to watch a movie and not feel like it was a huge waste of time.  It was mind twisting and almost confusing.  Now that it's over, I'm a little afraid to have dreams tonight.  The whole movie was about people entering your dreams and messing around with the things in your subconscious.  It was pretty good.

And now I'm just writing today's addition of the blog.  Just a few more days till we get to come home for Christmas.  It's fun to count down, although I don't know the actual number right now.

Long Day

Today was a long day at work.  I got to work and my boss was in a bad mood, putting me in a bad mood and making the day go by slowly.  To top it all off she didn't do any work and it was actually busy today.  So the day was busy and long.  After lunch things slowed down a bit and my boss was in a better mood.  The rest of the day went better.

I came home just after five and made some Kraft Dinner for supper, with a chicken burger.  It tasted really good and hit the spot.  Sonja has been watching season 1 of Glee and wanted to finish it up tonight, so she did.  I got called back to work at 8:30 for a x-ray of a foot.  So I came back at 9 and shoveled the ice off of our sidewalk with the shovel I borrowed from the hospital.  It has been super windy and there is a wind warning in effect for tonight.  No real plans for the rest of the night.  Go to bed earlyish and get a good sleep.

I have to go back to work in the morning for a quick call back.  And then the weekly grocery run.

Thats all for today.

Confused!

So, I've been pretty confused this week about what day it actually is.  On Tuesday, I thought it was Monday and the rest of the week kind of went down a similar hill.  I just don't have my wits about me and I'm not enjoying that.  It has made this week seem like it's been going on forever.  I know it's Friday tomorrow, but it feels like it should only be Wednesday today.... making me feel like I have 2 more days to wake up early.

Last night, Kitty woke me up, but I was in a sleepy trance so I wasn't heavily affected by it.  All I know is that she was sleeping in my leg space most of the night and practically on top of me when I got out of bed. I ate some breakfast and headed off to work.

There is still lots of snow on the ground, the kind that crunches under your foot.  It makes me miss home.  I don't think this snow will stick around for all winter, but it's nice to have it here.  But, on my way to work, I have to climb a small incline and that's difficult when it's caked in ice.  I only almost slipped a few times.

I got to work and then just worked.  Not much happened, but I'm getting work done that's been sitting around for months.  It's a nice feeling to be a part of organizing this detachment.  Especially since I've kind of been put in charge of those tasks that no one else wants to do.  I feel as though they are using me, but it keeps me busy and they are paying me, so it's not all bad!

I got home and got right to dinner.  We had poached lemon chicken.  It was pretty good, but it was super lemony.  I don't think I'll make it again with a whole lemon.

And the rest of the night just kind of happened.  We didn't do much.  So there isn't much to write about.  It's been a great night with my husband.

The weather was beautiful today. When the sun was setting, it was making the sky pink which in turn made the mountains look like a painting.  It was truly beautiful!

Home

Last night was really windy and rainy.  I was woken up by the cat three times and not by my phone ringing which is kinda too bad because I do enjoy the money.  I got up and it was still windy and rainy outside.  Quite different from the day that was yesterday.  The morning went by pretty slow.  I came home at lunch and noticed that little white flakes blowing around in the wind.  It turned out to be trying to snow.  We were able to watch the snow storm come across the channel and then eventually hit us.  Within the hour for lunch the ground was already white and about half an inch of snow.  It snows hard and heavy out here.

With the change in weather it was a further deterrent for people to come in to get their blood work done.  So the afternoon went by slower than the morning did.  Around 3:30 the power went out with all the snow fall this afternoon.  The TV and internet was out before that happened so we were not able to connect to our networks or do any x-rays.  However the hospital has a generator and I had to stay at work, unlike Sonja who got to go home when the power went out.  She was excited because she was going to DDR, but I reminded her we had no power because our apartment isn't connected to the hospital generator.  The power was out for a couple hours.  It came back on around five.  It cooled off pretty quickly in our place because we have electric baseboard heaters and drafts at all the windows so it doesn't take long to cool off.  Sonja was curled up under three blankets and was still cold.

The power went out again around 7:30 for a half hour or so.  We started some candles to give a little bit of light.  It came back on shortly after.

There was probably an inch to inch and a half of snow now that all is said and done.  It reminds me of home considering it was looking like it won't snow here all winter.  I might be off to Ocean Falls tomorrow for the day, depending on the weather.  We'll see what happens.

Tyler

Oh yeah its one month until we come home for Christmas.

So proud!!

Today was Tuesday and it was a long day.

I'm thinking that Kitty woke me up a few times last night, but I don't really remember.  I woke up this morning, got dressed and ate some breakfast.  My cereal for the next little while is Honeycombs.  They are pretty good, but not really filling and I find myself feeling hungry around 10.

I'm really loving this job.  It says something when you actually look forward to going, instead of getting that sick feeling when you hate even the thought of your job.  It's nice to not have that.  My work day didn't consist of much.  I had to retype a statement because the computer eat it.  Not sure what happened to it, but it wasn't where I saved it, so I was a little busy with that this morning.  That took about 10 minutes.  After that, I was charge of sorting through files.  There use to be a police station in Klemtu and when an event would happen there, 2 files would be created.  1 to stay in Klemtu, and 1 to stay in Bella Bella.  Today, I merged them.  It was a pain in the butt.  It just took really long.  There are many many files and I got through maybe 8 of them.  It's going to be a long road but it's going to keep me busy.  Also, I get to use the old Sergeant's office.  I feel more important then I really am, but it's probably the only time I'm going to feel that.

The day got a little exciting when we heard tiny barking coming from outside our detachment.  We went out there to find possibly the cutest puppy.  I played a bit with Rover, and found out that he was half wolf.  When I told Tyler about that, he thought it was the coolest thing ever, to have a dog that's half wolf.  We are thinking of getting one, but it's going to be a massive and our place is pretty small.  Plus, I don't think Kitty would appreciate the new friend.

I came home and made dinner.  Real chicken burgers made with real chicken.  Not the usual store bought burgers.  Tyler didn't come home right away, as he is on call.  I ate alone and soon after I finished, Tyler came home.

Our evening was pretty great.  I called Eva and we talked for a long time, about life and it was so good to talk with her again.  I can't wait for Christmas to come so I can see my family in person.  I miss you all!

And we have some exciting news!!!  As you know, Tyler was applying for online courses to get his MRI license.  Today he got an email that said he got into the program!!!!  He starts January 10th, 2011.  We are pretty excited about it.  It's nice to know that we will have more options of places to live with this program.  We can move a little closer to home and that's exciting for us.

Kitty is being really cuddly.  It's only because she wants us to take her cone off.  And the weather was pretty nice today.  It didn't rain.  So that's always a great day!

Hey, 200th post!!!

Monday, November 15, 2010

Well it was a relaxing and disconnected weekend.  I woke up in the night again because of the cat.  Of course though see was better last night than on the weekend.  I wish she would just be good all the time so I could sleep good all the time, but especially when I can sleep in.  But being on call I was able to sleep in longer than Sonja.  The alarm went off for her to get up and then I was out for the next hour.  It went to fast as I was still tired and reluctant to get up.  But I did and got ready for work.

I went to work and was able to keep myself busy for the first hour or so.  Since there was no internet since Friday we weren't able to enter or complete any x-rays, including sending them to Vancouver.  So I spent the first part of the day ordering the x-rays we took and sending them through the system.  I was a nice change from the usual.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to stay busy for long.  Just after 12 I had a patient come in who got his foot crushed between a tugboat and the pier or barge.  So he was in a lot of pain and I had to do x-rays from the knee down.  It was tough because my x-ray machine isn't the most versatile.  Some machines are able to get to anywhere in the room, but not mine.  I got most of them done, but needed another one.  So I had to haul in the portable machine to get the right angle on the x-ray machine.  I finally got it and took the patient back down to the ER.  He was lucky and seemed to only break one bone in his foot.

The rest of the day had spurts of work to do with a lot of waiting.  Just as I was getting ready to call it quits someone walked in needing x-rays and blood-work.  So I did it and came home a little bit late and found that supper was ready.  We had swarties casserole with iced tea.  It was really good.  Sonja is two for two this week so far.  The evening has kind of been uneventful.  We watched Canada's Worst Drivers and last nights Dexter.  It is getting really good for all you Dexter lovers who can't see it yet.  I will try to get it on DVD for you guys when we are home.  Just hope that they wrap it up before Christmas so you won't be left with an episode left.

The rest of the night will continue being relaxed.  Go to bed soon.  And if you were wondering it rained today.

Rolling black outs

Well, as you may have noticed, we haven't been blogging for a few days.  Well, that's because living out in the middle of nowhere is showing it's negative sides this weekend.  We haven't had any cell service or internet since Friday morning.  Tyler did try to blog via smoke signal but I'm guessing it was lost in the mountains.

And now to catch you all up on what we've been doing for the past few days.  My work day on Friday was a little bit of a waste of time.  With the long distance and cell service down, our RCMP computer systems wouldn't work.  I couldn't transcribe statements or really do anything so I was in the filing room pretty much all day.  I've been organizing and getting rid of all the files that are past due.  We also went out for breakfast because it was the Sergeants last day at our detachment.  And since the internet was down, we could only pay with cash, and no one has any cash around town.  Basically my french toast was paid for by someone else and that's kind of cool.

The rest of the day was kind of boring.  And then I came home.  Our Friday night was unmemorable.  Nothing to report for that night.  I think we watched a movie.

Saturday was a good day.  The morning was spent trying to sleep in, a plan foiled by the ever so cute and sweet Kitty.  We went shopping and came home.  Saturday evening, we spent at Kendra's place.  There was a birthday party going on for a woman named Jan.  She is one of the people we helped clean salmon for back in the summer.

It was a fun night.  We ate lots of great food and enjoyed great company.  After the other people went home, Kendra, Renee, Tyler and I played 2 games of Phase 10.  The games lasted till well into the morning.  I won a game for the first time in what seems like forever.

Today, we finished up some shopping and have been enjoying a great today together.  The weather is a little misty but it's been good.

If you don't hear from us again for a while, it's because our internet is out.  Don't be alarmed.  We are okay.

We also bough our first piece of art today.  I really love it.  It's of a Heiltsuk Thunderbird and a whale.  It's really really beautiful, I think.  Once our internet is a little better, we will put up some pictures.

Thats all for now.

Photoblog 9 - Deer

 Deer swimming the channel
 Climbing up the spit
Drying off

Stranded

Well its Friday and it feels good.  I like having the day off on a Thursday so the rest of the week is super quick.  I woke up and it was rainy and windy outside.  The phones were down and so was the internet this morning.  It has been down all day until now.  So it made for a pretty slow day of work because nothing could be done without the network up.  Also everyone probably thought we were closed today like the school was.  So the day kinda dragged on.

I eventually came home and made the shopping list for the week.  When Sonja came home we went to the store to pick it all up.  Unfortunately for us with the phone lines down, so was debit and credit card.  So it was cash only at the store and we don't have an abundance of that on hand.  So we came home and will try again tomorrow.  Hopefully the phones get up by then.

After the busted grocery trip we made supper.  It was leftover day and we were going to finish up leftover salmon from last week.  I made some rice to go with it.  Unfortunately fish doesn't keep that long.  It didn't taste very good, so it was just rice for supper.  Since the phones are down as we were settling in for the night the doorbell rang.  It was the nurse on duty.  They couldn't get ahold of the person on call and they needed an x-ray done.  So I went in and did it and came home two hours of work richer.

We are now watching a movie, American Gangster to cap off the night.

A day to remember

Hmm, today was a pretty good day.  Tyler and I both had the day off to do our part in remembering all those people who did and who are doing their part to protect 3rtttttttttttttttttttttt67 (Kitty just stepped on the computer) to protect people.  It was a great day.

I was awoken as per usual by little Miss Kitty as she was scratching away on our dresser.  I went to the bathroom then provided her with a midnight snack.  And she really likes her new food.  When I open the closet the food is in, she rubs herself against the bag.  It's pretty cute.

I went back to bed and wasn't sure I would be able to get back to sleep, but that was a ridiculous thought.  My head barely hit the pillow and I was out of it until 9:30.

I ate some breakfast and started the day by watching some Remembrance Day footage from Ottawa.  Tyler got out bed soon after and we enjoyed a nice and relaxing day together.  We attempted a walk, but the wind picked up and it was pretty cold.  Instead, we went to the store to pick up a few things and came home right away.  It was starting to rain any way, so we just stayed home.

We spent the day doing our own thing.  I worked on my cross-stitch and Tyler fiddled around on the computer.  It was a lazy day, but it was a grand day.  I know I only just started working again, but I kind of needed the day off.  No, not really, but it was nice any way.

Our evening was just a continuation of the day.  My head is hurting a little bit and I know as soon as I go to bed it will go away.  I should really just go, but for some reason I wont.

Last night, we went over to our friends place and played some more Phase 10.  Tyler won that game.  We were all pretty tired but it was still lots of fun.

Tomorrow is Friday and I'm looking forward to going to work.  I know I enjoy my job because I just said that.  Never before have I enjoyed a job this much.

I'm sleepy so that's all my mind can come up to talk about.

What you see at sea

Today started too early after a late night, but it was made more bearable by the fact that tomorrow is a day off.  There wasn't a could in the sky this morning and we were actually able to see the sun come up over the mountains.  It made it a little bit brighter this morning without the cloud cover.  I went to work and it was mostly slow with spurts of a few things to do.

The morning kinda drug on by but it was finally over and I came home for lunch.  I looked out the window as usually and saw something kinda funny out in the channel between our island and the next island over.  It was an animal swimming out there.  Not a usual marine animal like the seal that was swimming around the harbor, but it was a deer.  He had a guy in a boat following him to make sure he made it all the way to our island without drowning.  I put the binoculars up to see what kind of head gear he was sporting (my inner hunter coming out, even though its been suppressed out here) and he just had what looked like two spikes between the ears.  I still wasn't sure because my binoculars are not the greatest at all.  It wasn't until I looked at the pictures that I was able to say it was actually a buck.  He continued and finally came onshore on the spit.  He climbed up the rocks and stood on the end to catch his breath and continued going.  It would have been a good lunch break had I had a rifle out here.  I could have re-filled our freezer from the deck.  I went out to the beach to see if I could find out where he was going.  He was walking south on the beach and disappeared among the rocks.

The afternoon at work was more of the same as the morning.  I did a few x-rays and took a little bit of blood but nothing to majorly exciting.  I came home early and watched some TV and tried calling some friends.

Tonight we are going to have tacos, and then it is off for some more phase 10.  I won last night if Sonja forgot to mention that.  My not so secret alliance has been kicking butt recently.

It turned out to be a really nice day out today.  It started with frost on the ground to remind me of home and ended close to 10 degrees outside and sunny.  Its too bad the weather probably won't stick around till tomorrow.

This looks like a job for me...

Well, today was my second day at the RCMP.  And they already love me there.  I transcribed many statements in the last 2 days so they are very impressed with me.  It's so great to be working a job where I know kind of what my roles and responsibilities are.  The only problem so far is that I have no access to any of the police systems, so it's almost like I'm completely useless, but don't tell them that.  It's been a crazy few days there.  But I really do enjoy going to work.

Any way, the work day wasn't remarkable and we really didn't have any plans for the evening.  I got a text from Kendra so we went over there to play yet another game of Phase 10.  Her boyfriend is visiting so it's been fun getting all together with that extra person.  It was a really great evening with our friends.  Lots of laughs and we are getting together again tomorrow.  It's so much fun and I love that we have these people to spend time with.

It's late and we've been tired all day, so it's off to bed for us.

Sonja

The weather was alright today, and Kitty is doing just fine.  Still racing around at all hours of the night, but she is so cute!

I also got to talk with my mom today and that is always a welcome change to things.

Sun

Today started out as any other.  The cat woke us up throughout the night and the morning seemed to come to soon.  I went to work and it was slow.  I had to sort some things out from the weekend but figured it out.  The rest of the day of work went by pretty slow until just before 3.  It quickened up and I was busy until I came home at 4.

When I got home I watched last nights episode of The Simpsons.  It was the Treehouse of Horror episode.  It was pretty funny I thought.  After that was over I started to make supper, unfortunately to do that I had to first clean up from the weekend, as we have a habit of not doing the dishes.  We had salmon again, since we had half leftover from Friday.  So I made it lemon pepper and lime with rice.  It was good, but I think it is time for something different than salmon for a bit.  After supper I started the dishes and Sonja was video chatting with her friend Ranita.

After the dishes were done we watched Dexter from last night.  It is getting really good, but there are only 5 episodes left and I think they have a long way to go to wrap it all up for the season.  I played some Mariokart after that was over and Sonja cross stitched.  Now Dancing with the Stars is on, so Sonja is watching and enjoying that.

It feels good to not be on call again.  It seems like its been forever since I wasn't.  I was on call for the last three weekends and two of the last three weeks.  It will be a good week because of the day off on Remembrance day.  To bad I am not home because that is usually the day I shoot my deer for the year.  I have shot 2 of my three deer on that day.  Maybe I can find someone to take me out then, also because we are out of deer meat.  Also not being on call this weekend, we are planning to go to Shearwater on Saturday to watch hockey with some other people.  It will be fun to be able to go out instead of being on call.

Looking forward to a relaxing and restful sleep tonight.

Tyler

Oh it was also sunny for most of the day today, which is weird because I thought we were heading into winter out here where it rains all the time, but we keep getting the sun coming out as a treat.

Sunday

So, today was Sunday.  It was a good day.  Tyler had to go to work early but he says he was awake any ways.

I couldn't sleep any more, so I got out of bed and worked on my cross-stitch.  I'm pretty excited that it's almost done.  I can't wait to get another one when we are back home.

Any way, Tyler came home and we pretty much did nothing for the rest of the day.  It was a nice day.  I start another new job tomorrow so it was great to get to relax.  I imagine tomorrow is going to be pretty exhausting.  Learning new things is always tiring but I'm really looking forward to it.  The person I'm learning from seems to be a really nice woman so it should be good.  Plus I do know kind of what I'm doing.  It's nice to go into a job knowing some stuff, instead of being completely new at it.  It's not as nerve wracking.

It was raining all day today too.  We went to the store hoping the items we didn't get yesterday were finally stocked up.  We came home and made some lunch.  It was a really great Sunday.

We went to our friends house for more cards.  It's always fun hanging out with those people.  Renee and Kendra bought some cockles and were steaming them up.  Tyler and I have never tried those so we were offered to try some.  Turns out, cockles aren't that good.  I tired, but half a bite in, I couldn't do it.  It wasn't my cup of tea.

We are now home.  Just relaxing before hopefully a great nights sleep.  It was a great weekend.

Sonja

Saturday

Well I didn't sleep good last night.  I was waking up to many times and didn't sleep good.  The cat was being stupid and woke me up to many times.  She was scratching and running around like a moron.  I had to go to work this morning.  I was going to sleep in until 8:30 or so but I couldn't  I didn't really sleep that well from when the cat woke me up at 6:30.  So I just got up after 8 and went to work then.  I was able to come home sooner that way.  I finished up at work and came home.

I came home to find out that Sonja was up.  I went outside to try to fix my car.  The rear brake was seized up from not being driven ever.  So I took off the wheel to see what I could do with my limited tools.  The back wheel was even stuck on the hub and I had to kick it off with a few swift kicks.  I finally got it off.  I banged on the drum and finally loosened it up.  My wheel was finally free.  I took it for a drive to make sure it was still okay.  I drove it up to the airport, running the brake to smooth out the rust spots that were sticking out from the seized brake.  It sounded super rough when I got to the stop sign at the store.  By the time I got back from the airport it was all smoothed out and running normally again.  Probably not the most orthodox way of fixing a seized drum but it will work for now.

We went to the store and got our groceries for the week.  We got back and were supposed to have bought some chicken burgers, but when I went to make them for lunch, there were none in the house.  So apparently somewhere between the teller belt and the checkout itself.  So we went back to the store and pick up some chicken burgers for lunch.  They also had some things that weren't out half hour before when we were there.  So we got them as well.

The rest of the day was pretty relaxing.  We watched the Hamilton and BC football game, hoping that BC looses so Edmonton would make it to the playoffs.  But Hamilton gave the game away and BC won.  We decided not to watch the Edmonton game that was on later because Sonja was stressing out to much about the game that we really didn't care about, so she probably would have stopped breathing if we watched a game we really cared about.

We went over to Kendra's for supper tonight followed by some cards.  The game took forever.  We started just after 7 and weren't done until 11:30.  There were six of us playing so that is the main reason it took so long.

We are home now and off to bed shortly because I have to go to work again in the morning.  Hopefully I can kind of sleep in a little bit, and not get woken up by the cat.

Interesting day indeed!

Well, today was an interesting day.  I should start yesterday.  I got a call from the RCMP asking if I would be interested in a full time position at the detachment.  I said yes but that I just accepted a part time position.   They asked me if I could meet with them so they can explain further the desperate situation they were in.  I agreed.

And I met with them.  And it was a good meeting.  They explain that they needed someone quick and that I was the only person in town with the experience that they required.  They made a very convincing argument for why I should seriously consider taking this job.  Basically the situation is this: The woman I am replacing is having issues and might be leaving for good.  If she does, and it's looking like she will, I would permanently get the job.  If she stays, I would be kept on hand as the casual worker, filling in for vacation.  The staff also were looking into all the policies and stuff, and it turns out they can employ me for 4.5 months as full time just because I fall under a certain category of this policy.

The best part about this whole thing is that I get more experience.  It's the experience that got me this offer and I want more.  Tyler and I have been talking about our futures and it's kind of a good thing to get more experience in the realm of the RCMP world.  It means that where ever Tyler takes us next, I can get a job.  Also, being a federal employee has it's perks.  And I like perks.

This detachment has some really great people in it.  It seems to be a very positive place to work and I am really looking forward to working there.  I start this Monday and I'm so excited!

Any way, today started as every other has.  I woke up early and ate my breakfast cereal.  At this point, I wasn't sure how the day would turn out yet.  I had written a resignation letter and was thinking about this whole RCMP thing.  What to do, what to do??  I walked to work in the crisp cool morning air.  It was nice and refreshing.

I got to work before everyone else, as usual.  The day was a hectic mess.  We had to clean the entire building to get ready for the kids on Monday.  We wiped down everything from toys to chairs to windows.  I was in charge of bleaching and rinsing all the toys.  It wasn't the greatest job, but it made the day go by.  I was only thinking of the RCMP though, so it's good that job wasn't too complicated.

At 10:30, we were told that we had to take part in a healthy snack that was taking place at the Health Center.  It was pretty good.  There was bacon, cookies, crackers, cheese, and fruit.  It was a good little break in my very short day.

It was back to work soon after and back to bleach water and dirty toys.  I was glad when the day was over.  I came home to further consider what I should do.  I basically knew what I really wanted to do, but I still put more thought into it.  Tyler came home for lunch and then I went to the RCMP.  It was pretty cool.

I spent all afternoon there.  I phoned my boss and told her the situation.  She was really cool about it because she knew what my resume looked like.  I was shown around the detachment, learning a few things.  I'm pretty excited to start that job.  I know kind of what the job entails, so I'm not so nervous.

It's been a very interesting few days.

Enjoy the weekend.

Slow days

Well Sonja woke up this morning early at 6:45.  I stayed in bed and went back to sleep because I have had my share of waking up early while Sonja sleeps.  I woke up an hour later and started to get ready for work.  All I did today at work was a few x-rays and a little bit of blood work.  It made for a pretty long day.

As I was on my way out I was stopped by another patient who needed blood work done.  So I stayed a little bit longer to finish it up.  I came home and found that supper was ready.  We had a beef, and noodle casserole.  It was really good.  After supper I took out the garbage.  We have been accumulating it on the deck for a while so it was a lot to take out.  But I got it done and now the deck is clean again.

After supper I called home and talk to my parents for a bit.  They are leaving on Monday for Cabo San Lucas for a week.

The weather today was rainy again today.  The temperature doesn't change to much, a high of 8 or 9 and a low of 5.  It only really feels cool when it is windy.  Tonight The Office is on so I am getting excited for that.  I am going to make a giant bowl of popcorn for it.

Sorry that nothing really happened today, but thats how it is.

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Today started with a crazy event that hasn't happened to me in a few years.  We went to bed last night at around 10:30 and fell asleep right away.  I woke up a few hours later, at 12:36am.  I looked at the clock, saw that it was 12:36am, but my mind told me that it was time to get up.  I looked again, and got out of bed.  I put my clothes on and turned on the lights.  It wasn't a surprise that it was still dark out, because that's what it is in the real morning.  I went to get myself some breakfast when I looked at the clock.  It also said that it was 12:37am.  I still wasn't fully sure if that was true.  I had to convince myself that I wasn't going to miss work by going back to sleep.  I got back in the bed and fell back asleep.  I woke up a few more times, but actually got out of bed at 6:45am.

I ate my multigrain cheerios and searched for some more pictures of the Madison.  That's pretty much the first thing I do whenever I go on the internet.

I headed out to work in the dark.  I'm still a little afraid of the bears and sasquatches, so I was relieved to make it to Sasum House safe and sound.  I was the first one there at 7:50.

The day started good.  Work wasn't as much of a gong show today.  It seems like things are getting organized and sorted out.  It feels nice.  My project for the day was to color some pictures, and then cut them out.  Today, there was a community event called "Healthy Breakfast", which is a breakfast put on for families with children under 6 years old.  No one showed up.  And that meant that we got to eat some of it.  I had french toast, bacon, hash browns, smoothie.  Oh, it was so good!!

I got to come home at 12 for the day.  Since I'm only part time, I don't get to stay there all day.  It works fine for me.  I came home and waited for Tyler to come home, which he did about half an hour later.  Tyler finished the pizza from last night and I didn't have anything, due to all the french toast :)

He left for work again and I worked out.  I showered and worked on a cross-stitch.  I started din din so it would be ready for 5, when Tyler should be coming home.  I finished making dinner, and waited.  And waited and waited.  I sat down to eat and was surprised that Tyler didn't come home until 6.  He was suddenly busy at work so couldn't come home.

He came home and ate what I made.  Rice with cheese chicken.  I was planning on making something called Chicken Diablo, but when looking at the recipe before I started, I realized I didn't have a lot of the ingredients.  It turned out really good.

We are both tired so it might be early to bed.  It was really good weather today, nice and warm.  Kitty was being a little turkey today, racing around, squeaking away.  I love that Kitty.  She is my little sweetheart.

We watched Toy Story 3 last night and I don't think I want to watch that again.  I cried a lot, and it was so silly.

Ready for another sleep!
