Last post of this year??

So, Tyler just got me on the interweb...  We are pretty bored here at the airport.  We should be boarding now but our flight got delayed 45 minutes, so it's been a long wait.  There has been a few things to keep us occupied for shorts periods, but I will get to those later.  First, I must tell you about the long and boring day we have had so far.

Right on cue, I woke up at 6:30am, no alarm, no kitty, just from the training of getting up every day at that time.  I wasn't impressed at all.  Tyler said that if I just tried to go back to sleep, I could, but I know that wouldn't happen.  I was already out of that sleepy haze and ready to get going.

Tyler showered and I tried to look for some food to eat for breakfast.  It seems like we did a pretty good job at cleaning out the fridge as we only have butter, mayo, potatoes and a few other non breakfast items.  It was kind of sad.  I had toast with nutella.  It made me very excited for the week to come as there is almost always nutella on Boxing Day.  I'm very excited for the Christmas days ahead.  But first, we have to get home.

Tyler went off to work and I just kind of sat there, thinking of all the things we might have missed in the packing process, what we could possibly leave behind... all sorts of things were running through my mind. I was also trying to spend lots of time with Kitty as she is now at our friends place for Christmas.  I gathered all her belongings and put them by the front door so we could transfer her as quickly as possible when Tyler came home for lunch.

When Tyler did come home, we shoved poor Kitty in her taxi and brought her over.  She didn't so much like that walk.  And then she was stuck in the taxi.  It was all very sad.  I'm hoping she is doing alright now in her home away from home.

We waited around the house for a bit before heading off to the airport.  After seeing the wonderful weather that was outside, we knew we would be getting home tonight.  Tyler had a hot dog for lunch and I had some more toast.  Our home is old mother hubbard right now.

After getting checked into the airport, we sat there for about an hour before boarding.  It was very rough sailing and for the first time in my life, I my heart almost stopped due to turbulence.  It felt like we were literally falling from the sky.  And then we got to Port Hardy.

Once getting to Hardy, we were informed that the key to the fuel truck broke off in the ignition and therefore the plane couldn't refuel.  It seems like there will always be problems when I try to come home.    I don't like that trend.

We finally arrived in Vancouver.  We tried to check in but were told it was too early.  Apparently it's not safe to carry around luggage that's already tagged.  We didn't really understand that logic as we think it would be safer to have it tagged.  Any way, it doesn't matter.  We enjoyed a dinner at White Spot with our giraffe bags and it was all fine.

We past through security following a few people who probably have never flown before.  The girl ahead of me kept on her big coat and a bag around her shoulders.  And she had to fish for her laptop at the bottom of a different bag.  It was ridiculous.

And now we are sitting here, waiting for our delayed flight to come in.  Looks like we will be boarding at 10:30, getting us to Edmonton around 1am.  And then we have to make the drive down to Tyler's parents place.  But, once we get there, there is a very nice soft comfy bed waiting for us.  That's what driving me to not abandon this trip.  Actually, there is much to look forward to, but tonight, right now, that bed is something of an 8th wonder of the world to us.  We are super tired.

A few interesting things have happened to keep our minds stimulated.  There was a guy sleeping next to us that had a snore that would rival a bulldozer.  It was just amazing.  Tyler walked the halls to see how far away it could be heard.  In a noisy terminal, Tyler could hear it about 150 feet away.  And then a cat came around the corner.  It was a sweet cat who was slinking around, acting like it couldn't be seen because it was so close to the floor.  Pretty cute.

And now there is no snoring man as he woke himself up (or maybe it was because I was laughing at him), and no kitty to watch.  Just waiting for time to go faster so we can come home to the land where snow flies.  It's not Christmas out here.  Things are still green.

I played some pac man and solitaire while Tyler reads a new deer magazine.  I'm sure it's more of a hunting, shoot the cute deer type of magazine, but I always try to find the cute pictures of the alive deers.

I don't know what these next 2 weeks have in store, but I wont be blogging about it.

Merry Christmas!!

Sonja
