Jan 1, 2012

It's tough to believe that it's a new year already.  Where on earth did last year go?  I'm thinking that it seemed to go quickly because nothing too thrilling happened.  In 2010, Tyler and I got married and we moved to a new and exciting island.  2011 was spent mostly in the rain and jobless for me.  Now, I know we found out we are expecting, which is super exciting, but it's not as exciting as actually having the baby. And that is why 2012 is going to be a crazy year.  Just thinking about it makes me so excited.  We are having a baby sometime in the next month or so and Tyler is finishing up his schooling and we don't know where that will take us.  It's just so much fun to think about all the neat things that this year will bring.

I'm not even sure what else to talk about in this blog post.  It's been about a week and a half since we returned home and it feels great to be with family and friends again.  Christmas was a crazy crazy time.  After driving for 2 days straight, we had 4 Christmas gatherings with huge amounts of people.  I knew we would be super tired by the end of all the festivities so we scheduled in a day of doing nothing.  The 27th of December was spent lazing around, sleeping when we needed to and just doing nothing.  It felt pretty great.

Tyler, my dad and I went to a World Junior game on the 30th and that was lots of fun too.  We went early to see what the Fan Zone had to offer.  There were games and the Hockey Hall of Fame had some items out.  Tyler put on some goalie equipment while a person shot soft pucks at him through a machine.  That was fun to watch.  Tyler did pretty good considering he has zero experience in net.  The actual game was mostly fun.  The first 2 periods were kind of boring as it was tired 2 - 2 and both teams weren't playing very well.  And then the last period happened and it was fun to watch the goalie from the Czech Republic celebrate.  You could just tell they were having fun and it was great to watch it.

New Years Eve was kind of a low key day for us.  We spent the afternoon with some friends who just had a baby and then went to another friends house for the evening.  We played a domino game with trains and then some Uno.  It was very low key because there were only 6 of us there and it didn't get too crazy at all.  We went outside for one firework at about 11:45 pm which lasted about a minute.  It was a really good firework but it wasn't too spectacular at all.  We headed inside to find a count down on tv.  We enjoyed each other's company and then Tyler and I headed back home.

Today, we headed over to Tyler's uncle's home for a day of games and good food.  We played Uno again, and a really fun game called Pit.

And now we are home again, trying to figure out how to spend our evening.  I'm getting pretty tired but it's only 6:30 so I wont be going to bed soon.

I think one of the best things about being home for so long is that we don't have to worry about seeing everyone all in a 2 week span.  There is no rush to cram all our friends in the few days we have alloted and that is just nice and relaxing.  This is more of a vacation for us.  Every time we come home, our "vacation" is spent driving back and forth making sure to split our time evenly so we can have fun with every one but this feels so good, to just relax and enjoy our time.  It makes me excited for when we are home again for Tyler's practicum.

I'm not sure when the next blog will be posted or if anyone is even looking out for our blogs any more, but I will post again.  I guess it depends on what the day holds and how much time I have to write.

Baby J is kicking up a storm right now.  It's hard to believe that it will only grow bigger and bigger because I feel pretty big right now and there is still a few more weeks left.  I can't wait to hold this little person in my arms and find out who has been kicking me so much.
