Ah, today was a grand day, mostly.  All except this morning.  Due to the fact that I worked last night and didn't get home till 12, this morning was pretty brutal.  As for last night, it was a good work night.  The prisoner was a well behaved young person who didn't throw tantrums or kick the door.  He didn't demand things and cry when he didn't get what he wanted.  People like that make working from 4-midnight a little easier to handle.

I got home at midnight, and woke Tyler up when I opened the front door.  I felt a little bad but then it was nice to talk with him for a while.  Since I didn't get to spend any time with him after he came home from work, it was nice to catch up on how his day went.

Kitty woke me up several times during the night so it wasn't a great night.  And morning came so early.  I really shouldn't complain, as Tyler was up the same amount of time as me, and he actually had work to do today.  It was still tough getting out of bed.

Once I achieved the first thing on my to-do list (which was getting out of bed), I ate breakfast and tried to shield my eyes from the bright outside.  It was so bright I couldn't even see outside.  There was so much fog.  I got a few pictures that might end up on the blog, depending on how Tyler feels.

The day was filled with the usual, working out, cross-stitching, playing with Kitty.  I throw in a curve ball by going over to a friends house to drop off some yogurt I didn't need.  She use to live under the hospital, in a really horrible one bedroom blue place that leaked from the hospital upstairs.  She said that we could switch houses if we wanted, as her new place has 3 bedrooms.  We said no to that and I kind of regret it once I saw her place.  She is moving into a beautiful home that isn't green and is so nice.  I wish we had a place like that, but I guess we can live here for the time being.  I also went to pay the internet bill.

I got home and Tyler came home shortly after that.  I made dinner but unfortunately the potatoes burnt somehow.  So for dinner, we had chicken and gravy.  That is all.  Not much of a well rounded meal, so Tyler made popcorn, to balance everything out.

We chatted for a bit and then settled in for a night of Tyler's favorite tv shows.  A new episode of The Office is on in a few minutes so are getting ready for that.

Also, the batteries in our flipty doer* just ran out, so now we have to dibs out getting off our butts to change the channel.  It's going to be awesome.

Tyler found Kitty's toys that she always looses, so they played for a little while.  Since she had her cone on, it was just sad to see her chase the ball and then loose it because her line of vision is super decreased.  We removed the cone and it was a lot more fun for her.  And Tyler.  We haven't re-coned her because she has already scratched her face open, so we decided to leave it off her.  Give her a taste of freedom.

The weather was pretty beautiful today.  Nice and pretty, once the fog cleared up.

Clearing

Well today I woke up for work and was so tired.  I hit the snooze 2 times.  I usually get up as soon as it goes off but I just didn't feel it this morning.  I was to comfortable and still tired.  But I got up and showered and had breakfast.  I got to watch the sunrise today which hasn't happened for a while because of all the rain that we have been getting.  So it wasn't as dark this morning as it has been.  I finished my cereal and woke Sonja up before I went off to work.  It was again a slow day.  I'm starting to get to know the regulars which is good.  Its nice to be able to recognize people.

Work went by pretty quickly considering nothing happened to get excited about.  At lunch I came home and had leftover tacos from last night.  We saw a seal swimming around the harbor.  Its always cool looking outside and seeing things like that.  Sonja was going kayaking with Kendra's friend this afternoon so she came back to work with me to get the key to unlock the equipment.

I came home after work and Sonja was on her way out.  She had been called to work by the RCMP to guard tonight.  So we had to cancel our supper plans and I have spent the evening at home.  I started watching The Office.  Mom called me so I talked to her and turned off my show.  After talking to them I made some popcorn and turned on some hockey.  Vancouver was playing San Jose.  Kinda a boring game because it doesn't matter to me.  I kept tabs on the Oilers game and they won, 4-3 in the shootout.  they are now 4-0 in pre-season games.  Hopefully they can continue into the regular season.  It would be a surprise, but nice.

Nothing more on the agenda for the rest of the night.  Maybe some more Office.

Phase 10 winner turkey!

Another late post, sorry people.  We got together with our friends again and just got home.

The day was like any other.  It was hard for me to get out of bed, although Kitty was nicer to us last night.  Ty brought home a "Anti Kitty Scratching weapon" which is exactly what that sounds like.  It worked last night.  She was rubbing up against the plug ins and it was annoying so I sprayed her with the AKS and she went to bed.  So it's proven effective.

I had a great sleep, although I wanted to just stay in bed.  It's always nice to just sleep.  It's relaxing and wonderful.  I did get up, eat my corn flakes and started on my cross-stitch again.  It was a nice day.  I didn't do much but it was awesome.  I made Tyler some lunch, worked out with my DDR and cross-stitched.  Not much happened.

But then Tyler came home.  I made tacos and we ate dinner.  It was pretty tasty.  Tyler was asked to clean Kendra's fish so we went over to her place and he prepared a dinner for them.  Well, cleaned the salmon they were going to eat.  One of Kendra's friends is in town, so we talked for a bit.  We were invited to eat with them but we had just finished our tacos.  We were also invited back later for a game of Phase 10.  It w as battle to the end, with most of us playing for phase 10.  Tyler ended up winning based on points, so it was a good time.

We were also invited for dinner tomorrow.  Tomorrow is going to be interesting.  I was invited to go kayaking with the friend, and to help her bake and to enjoy dinner with them.  It should be a good day.

Kitty slept all day and that's fine with me.  I'm sure she wont like being sprayed with water so she should be ok tonight.

The weather hasn't really smartened up.  It's been rainy for a week and today it was cloudy and cold.  Not so nice.  Just a look at what this winter will be like.  Just getting use to it.

The one sad thing about making friends out here, is that they will all likely move away.  Of the two friends we've made so far, one is leaving in February and the other might leave sooner.  It's just too bad.  Oh well.

Bad haircut

I woke up super tired this morning, as we were out late last night.  I woke up in the middle of the night and found that the power was off.  So I set my alarm on my phone to be sure that I woke be able to wake up as I was super tired.  I stumbled out of bed and made my way to work.  I tried to watch sportscenter and some news this morning as I ate breakfast and found that half of the channels were out because of the power outage last night.  I had to tweak the internet to get it up and running again too.

I'll just skip to coming home after work because nothing happened until 2:30 and then I came home.  When I got home we started to make supper.  It was classy chicken again.  We grated cheese and cut chicken and got it ready.  Yesterday I had decided it was haircut day tonight.  And thats where my low point of the day hit.  It started out all right.  Buzzed the back and sides with the number 1 and then moved on to the top.  I was left with a mohawk and thought I may keep it.  I spiked it up and it looked alright.  I took off the #1 and cleaned up the clippers.  After a bit I decided that I wasn't going to have a mohawk while here.  So I rinsed out the gel and got Sonja to cut the last remaining long hair off of my head.  Unfortunately I didn't realize that the guard was still off and neither did Sonja.  She went right down the middle.  So there I was with one super short strip down the middle.  So I was left with no choice but to finish the rest off at that length.  So now I have 1/8 of a inch of hair on my head.  Its going to be cold for a bit until it grows back.

After our supper we watched the season premiere of Dexter which was on last night.  It was alright.  Its just getting into the new story but I think it will get better.  Much Better.

In exciting Oilers news, they won 8-2 last night against the Canucks.  I just hope that all this skill coming out isn't all smoke and mirrors.

Just going to be relaxing the rest of the night and willing my hair to grow back.

Sunday Madness!!

Today was an awesome day.  Not because of fantastic weather, as it was cloudy, gloomy and rainy most of the day.  Not because we had much excitement throughout the day, as we did a ton of relaxing.  Today was an awesome day because I got to spend it with some pretty awesome people.

The day started normally, with Kitty being a little terror too early.  I wasn't able to sleep in this morning probably because I had a monster sleep on Friday night.  13 hours is enough to rejuvenate any one for a few days.  I got out of bed so Tyler could continue to sleep.  He doesn't get to sleep in, especially when he's on call, so I figure I can be nice to my loving husband.

I got out of bed, and with a bowl of Corn Flakes in hand, I watched a bit of the Eskimo game.  It was strange to watch a football game at 10 in the morning, but I guess that's what we have to expect living in the Pacific time zone.  I didn't watch to much of it, because the Esks tried a crap play and it didn't work, and it made me mad at them.  I was still a little sleepy so I just laid on the couch.  I had every intention of working out before Tyler got out of bed, but in my channel flipping, I found an episode of Friends.  The plan was to watch that and then work out.

Tyler got out of bed soon after that.  He looked like he wanted to get back into bed and sleep for another 5 hours, so we just sat on the couch.  I did my work out while he surfed the internet for more Oiler information.  He pretty much reads every online article on them and it's pretty cute.

I showered and we ate some lunch.  I had some jam toast and one chicken strip and Tyler had chicken strips.  We didn't do much today.  I cross-stitched and Tyler surfed the internet, took the garbage out, and ate a ton of food.  We were pretty bored and Tyler is a bored eater.  He didn't feel so good.  He ate a lot of the cake he made a few days ago.

At out game last night, it was decided to get together again tonight.  We went over there at 7 and it was a super fun night.  We ate too much junk food, laughed a lot and played Phase 10.  The 4 of us have made alliances with each other so it gets pretty ugly in there, with people sleeping others for no reason.  There is also a lot of making fun of each other which are of course jokes.  It is always so fun to hang out with those girls.  I'm pretty sure it's going to be a weekly event and I'm looking forward to next weekend.  I won tonight and that makes me happy.  Tyler and Kendra, the other alliance, would chalk it up to us cheating, but we were mostly honest.  There is always cheating in our games which makes it super fun.

It was a super awesome day today.  Lots of laughs and a nice relaxing day.

Looking forward to this week for some reason.  I feel like it's going to be a good one.

It rained

Well, as you may have guessed, it is still raining.  The wind has finally stopped, but the rain still hasn't.  I have been kinda busy so far this weekend.  I have been back to work 4 times.  It is strange because I haven't had a call back all week until last night.  Then I went into work twice last night and twice today.  Hopefully more will come.  When I wasn't at work though today I didn't do anything.  We went to the store to get our groceries.  It rained on the way there.  We got what we needed and came home.  While we were in the store the rain had stopped.  We got home and I made a sandwich for lunch.  We spent some time relaxing watching some movies on TV.  It was a very relaxing day.

I made a chocolate cake which turned out pretty good.  Since I was tired from staying up late and getting woken up early for blood work I took a short nap this afternoon.  I woke up and it was time to actually try the cake.  We then decided that it was time to make some supper.  We had chicken strips dipped in buffalo sauce with french fries.  Shortly after finishing that I was called back to work.

We are going out to play phase 10 again tonight in a few minutes so that is the reason behind the early blog.

Friday happiness!

Once again, let's start with how annoying Kitty was last night.  I think she knows just how unwelcome she is in the wee hours of the morning, and just to spite us, she keeps waking me up earlier and earlier.  Last night, her new time was 1:20am.  It's getting ridiculous but I can't just lock her up in a room, or just shut our door.  She is turning into a nocturnal type animal and that doesn't suit my lifestyle.  I sleep at night, and she is starting to be awake all night long.  Oh well.  It's just the way it is right now.  Maybe in a few weeks, it will switch back to her sleeping at night again.  Here's hoping!

Tyler woke up, showered and was sitting on the couch when I got out of bed.  He went off to work and I just wanted to go back to sleep.  I was so tired after being awake most of the night.  I did get myself to work out, which woke me up slightly so that was nice.  I did the few dishes in the sink and showered.

I worked on my cross-stitch project.  I have to say, I do miss working on that quilt I made for Amy and Aaron's baby.  It was fun.  I like those projects.  I also kind of watched a bit of tv.  Well, it was on in the background.  And, due to the weather, the picture kept cutting in and out.  So I turned it off.

And now to the weather.  It is crazy windy here.  Last night, it started raining and the wind picked up.  By the time we went to bed, you could hear it whistling outside.  It was really eerie.  And today, it was worse. The wind picked up and our hammock was flying through the air.  The water by the spit reminded me of winter back home.  When the water hit the spit, it would mist and come over.  It looked like when snow blows over the road and all you can see is white.  The white caps in the ocean were pretty huge too.  It was very windy and loud and I was sure something was going to fly through the window.

I took a little nap before Tyler came home for lunch.  We eat lunch together and before we knew it, Tyler was on his way back to work.  He said nothing really happened today so nothing to report there.

I didn't do much until Ty came back home after he was done work again.  I prepared din din which was spaghetti with deer steak and tomato sauce.  We didn't have half the ingredients for this menu so it probably would have tasted different then it did.  It was kind of boring and the deer steak was from a deer Ty shot 2 years ago, so it was a little tough.  Probably wont make that recipe again for a while.

No plans for tonight, as the sky is still open and rain is falling from every direction.  We been through every kind of rain there is.  Little bitty stingin rain, and big ol' fat rain.  Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath.  Shoot, it even rained at night.

We try to keep Kitty up for most of the night so she can sleep at the same time as us.  We are also trying to feed her at a different time to see if that will get her to leave us alone at night.  It's a work in progress and although I'm sure no one really cares, I will keep you up to date with how she is doing.

So excited to sleep in tomorrow!!

Taste of winter?

Today the cat was stupid once again.  I think we will bring her home at Christmas and leave her somewhere in the wild or a house of some one who wants her.  It's getting really annoying to be woken up every hour or less after three.  I went to work and did an xray first thing when I got there.  The rest of the day was slow.  I did another xray after coffee in the morning and continued to sit around for a while longer.    The rest of the day went by slow until just before 4 it picked up and was busy until I was able to come home at 5.

I came home and Sonja started supper.  We had parmesan rockfish with rice.  Uncle duane left hie fish he caught in our freezer so that was the one we ate tonight.  It was really good.  We quickly ate and then it was hockey time.  The Oilers played their first home pre-season game.  It has been a night I've been waiting for for a long time.  Firstly because it was on TV, and secondly it is the first game of our number 1 pick in June.  It is going to be a fun year to watch hockey for once.  There are three kids who are starting their rookie seasons this year and they seem to be lighting it up already.  They are up 3-1 right now and it is the beginning of the third.  We are wearing are new jerseys that were on display at the wedding.  It is the inaugural wearing since we have been married.  I ate some nachos and cheese with salsa during the third period.  We are flipping between the game and The Big Bang Theory.  Later tonight The Office premieres.  It is my favorite show and I am glad that it is back.

The weather was cloudy this morning but it soon turned for the worse.  There is a heavy rainfall warning in effect as well as a heavy wind warning.  It is forecasted to rain close to 180 mm between today and Monday.  With winds up to 120 km/h.  Hopefully the winter isn't completely like this.  The wind cuts straight to the bone.

Just an update on the score 5-1 Oilers.  Hall scored number 4 and Paajarvi scored a hat trick with goal number 5.  It is going to be a fun year to watch Oilers hockey.

Ocean Falls

It was Ocean Falls day today.  We were supposed to go tomorrow, but thanks to the handy technology of weather prediction, it was decided to go today.  The rest of the week here is supposed to be wet and gloomy, not ideal for small float planes.

Any way, due to the full moon, Kitty was being a pain in the butt last night, more the usual.  Usually I don't get to upset with her, after all, she is just a kitty.  But last night, it was more then I could handle.  She was scratching at the bed, seemingly louder then every other night.  I used Monkey as a weapon and swatted at her.  I'm not proud of that and it didn't really work to stop her.  Tyler woke up to go to the bathroom, and I was past the point of feeling anything but anger towards that Kitty, so Tyler gave her a swift kick in the bum.  Not to hurt her, but to get the point across that we weren't impressed.  It worked and we managed to sleep semi-soundly the rest of the night.

On to more interesting things, we woke up, showered, ate our respective breakfast cereals.  For me, a bowl of Special K and for Tyler, a bowl of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios.  It appears that that is all we eat for breakfast these days.  We got ready for our day out in Ocean Falls.

We went to the airport with the doctor and got ready to board the plane.  It was a little Beaver and if I called it cute, Tyler would just roll his eyes at me.  I got to sit in the front of the plane with the pilot because it was my first time in a plane where you can see the driver.  It was pretty freaky.  I was half expecting Rosy the pilot to start the propellor by hand, but that didn't happen.  I was also expecting the pilot to be wearing one of those leather hats, with a light brown leather jacket that has that fluffy looking collar on it.  You know what I'm talking about, right?  I'll leave it at that.

We took off smoothy and were flying in a northernly easternly direction, over land and water.  I felt safer flying over the water, because I kept imagining the plane plummeting.  And seeing how it was a float plane, I had confidence that Rosy could land in the water rather then crashing into the side of a mountain.  It was a foolish thought but really, those planes are scary to be in.  I knew nothing would happen, but there was one moment of pure fear.  There was an updraft of air (or something a little more technical) and the plane veered left.  I'm sure my heart stopped for a moment until I realized we weren't going down.

We sailed smoothly and reached Ocean Falls soon after that terrifying moment.  It was a beautiful flight in.  Ocean Falls sits in a long L shaped inlet.  The first part that you see is where the people actually live, all 35 people.  You turn at the elbow of the L and fly into the older part of town, the actual townsite.  It was truly beautiful.

After the plane landed one of the smoothest landing I've ever been a part of, we got out of the plane and stepped onto the dock.  It already looked like the oldest place I've ever been.  You can see the old buildings of a town that use to be a hip happening place.  Tyler and the Doc had to go to work so they started walking to the medical clinic.  I saw 4 cute little seals sitting on the dock, so I spent some time with them, taking a few pictures.  I thought it was a bad idea to get lost in a town I've never been without any way of contacting Tyler, so I soon followed the 2.

The medical clinic is set up in the old court house.  The building also use to be the jail and is now the post office.  I sat around, waiting for Tyler to come explore with me.  It's a little haunting walking around an actual ghost town.  While sitting around waiting, we got to meet some of the patients.  You have to be quite the character to live in a place like that.  They were fun to talk with and we got invited to eat lunch with them after we walked around the town a bit.

This town is just full of old abandoned buildings.  So many old houses that looked really cool, falling apart, growing moss on the roof.  There was also a tennis court with a sign that read, "Tennis club members only..."  The court was overgrown with grass and weeds and there wasn't a net.

And then we went for lunch.  It was very interesting.  We were spoiled with hot dogs and spaghetti with elk sausage.  It was good, considering.  The conversation moved to the difference in politics between Canada and the States.  Blah blah blah, something about the constitution and how Americans are rude.  Apparently Ocean Falls' population consists of a large number draft dodgers.  It was an interesting conversation even though most of what they were talking about happened before I was even thought of.

We were invited to go on a tour of the place with one of our lunchmates.  Tyler finished up with a few patients after lunch and we got the grand tour.  Our tour guide took us all over the place, pointing out different key buildings and what they use to be.  It was interesting.  A vehicle stopped us and said that Tyler was needed for a few more patients, so our tour was cut short.

Back at the clinic, Tyler took a few more samples of blood while I read the horribly outdated pamphlets that was in the clinic waiting room.  After a bit of waiting around, our plane finally came to pick us up.

As we were flying home, Tyler sat in the front seat and I got a back seat with an excellent view.  The way the water was rippling and the way the sun was shining on it, it looked like gorgeous art stretched out for as far as the eye can see.  It almost took my breathe away.

We landed safely again and drove back to town.  Tyler still had the rest of his work day to complete and I came home.  I worked on a cross-stitch project.  I put off making supper because I had no idea when Tyler would be home.  I knew he had a lot of blood work to do, so I just did my project.

Tyler came home and we made some mac and cheese to quickly satisfy our hunger.  Not much else happened this evening.  We are currently watching the newest Robin Hood and it's a snooze-fest.  As Tyler puts it, "I thought it would be more Robin Hoody and less...story."  There isn't a lot of action but more so the boring stuff that usually comes in between the action.

We hope to get some pictures up here of our day.  Keep a watchful eye for those.

Today I went to work, the same as any other day.  I got there and there wasn't too much going on.  I did a couple x-rays but nothing to major.  I was sent on a wild goose chase into the basement to find some x-rays that were done on film, before we went digital.  They were taken 2 weeks before the switch.  Unfortunately there is no rhyme or reason to the filing system.  Fortunately I found what I was looking for without much problem.  It took less time than I thought it would out of my otherwise slow afternoon.  It picked up around 3:50 as it tends to do lately and my last hour of work went by pretty quickly.

I came home and found Sonja had supper started.  We had spaghetti and meat sauce.  It was really good.  The best spaghetti we have had in a long time.  After supper we watched the Oilers play in the Joey Moss Cup.  Team blue won 3-0.  Things are looking pretty good this year for the copper and blue.  I'm excited.  However I am not holding my hopes up to high, as it will be a team full of unproven youngsters.  But it was still fun to watch them play each other today.  Good to see the skill and potential that is there.

We are watching Glee tonight with a bowl of popcorn.  We are off to Ocean Falls tomorrow with a doctor.  So we will go and hike and of course work a little bit.  It should be fun.

Thats all for today.  Oh we just saw a tugboat pulling 4 barges.  We call it MegaBarge.  One looked like a house or shop or something.  We will put some pictures up tomorrow.

Monday, September 20, 2010

I always seem to be super tired on Mondays.  I know we were up late last night, but it's not like I was woken up that many times during the night.  I had a decent sleep but I still didn't want to get out of bed.  I still didn't want to get out of my pjs.  But, of course, I did.

The day started out perfectly normal.  And it pretty much stayed that way the whole time.  I dragged myself out of bed to hang out with Tyler before he left for work.  It looked really choppy out on the water today, and Tyler said it was super cold.  Apparently the rain from last night drove the warmth somewhere else.  I played DDR for a while and then did my other work out.  It was a struggle to go through the whole dvd, as the sun was beating down through the window and I was tired.

I managed to get through it and moved on to the next item on my to-do list, which was dishes.  Good thing we ate some where else because there weren't that many dishes to do today, and that's always nice.  Then I vacuumed the house.  And it looks so great when this place is vacuumed.  It doesn't happen every day, but it certainly does feel good to have a clean place.

Then I made lunch for Tyler and took a shower.

After Tyler went back to work, I worked on my cross-stitch project.  I still love it.  It still makes me so happy to be able to work on something like this.  I really love the way it passes the time but it's not a waste of time.

We needed a few things from the store that weren't on the shelves on Saturday, so I went out around 2:30 and picked up some ingredients for din din.  And for din din, I made a spicy chicken dish.  There was also this cucumber salsa thing that I tried.  It wasn't that great.  It wasn't horrible, but it really wasn't great.  And now all I can taste is onions, and that really isn't great either.

We just finished watching a cute movie, Night at the Museum 2.  My favorite is the monkey named Dexter.  He's pretty cute.

We also just booked out flights home for the holidays...and it was not cheap.  It hurts me but I would rather be home for Christmas then stuck out here just the 2 of us (Not that that would be bad).  We decided to fly the whole way because the ferry was giving Tyler the run around about not having any id with our new address.  It annoyed him so we made the brave choice to just fly home.  It scares me a little because if the weather is bad, then we can't come home whereas with the ferry, we can still at least be on our way.  Oh well, just pray for good weather for us, that's all we ask.

Not doing much now.  Tyler is teasing Kitty and its pretty funny to see how pissed off she is right now.

Kitty was super cuddly all day, laying all over me.  She's kind of turning into a dog.  I pat on my lap and she jumps up on me.  I run around the place and she chases after me.  It's pretty cute.

The weather was cold today, as I think I mentioned before.  It was choppy and clear.  It was a nice day to look at, but not so much to be outside.

Sorry for the late posts these past few days.  We've made some friends, and sometimes we just plain forget.  Tonight, it's a little late because the whole airline ticket fiasco.

Bear day

Well today was a busy and late day.  Sonja woke up first today and I slept in a bit longer until 10 or so.  Sonja did her work out and I surfed the web.  After she was done we did the dishes and decided to go for a hike.  We went to do the one that we were planning on doing yesterday.  So we went to Morgan lake to see the sights.  We got there and it was only a 10-15 minute hike into the bush.  We got to the lake and there is a little stream with a few straggler salmon making it to the spawning ground.  We were there watching the fish for a while and then we started to hear a sound that sounded like a dying cat.  Worse case scenario it was an angry bear.  I have never heard a bear but today was not the day I wanted to meet a hungry one.  So we decided to turn around and get out of there.

There is another trail that splits off and goes past the lake.  I was told that this trail would link up to the reservoir and and then to the trail that we were on yesterday.  We decided to take this and then head back into town the way we started yesterday.  So we started cutting our way through a few overgrown spots and we went past some ponds and streams.  We came around a corner and I saw a little black bear standing on the trail in front of us.  It was really cool.  He was facing the same way as us so he didn't see us.  I stopped Sonja and I started to back up and started to get out the camera and in doing so I stepped on a twig.  That scared him and he started trotting away.  We decided it would be best to turn around and go back the way we came.  I had my hunting knife so if he decided he wanted to fight us, I think I would have done pretty well.  But that never happened and we came home.

I had a sandwich for lunch and we spent the afternoon watching The Simpsons and Family Guy.  We were invited to have a fish fry/potluck on the beach this evening.  Unfortunately our plans had to change as a massive storm rolled in around 4:30, 5 o'clock.  It was a real good storm, complete with thunder, lightning, and hail.  It poured for almost an hour.  So our plans changes and we ended up going over to Kendra's place instead of the beach.  So I cooked up the rock fish that I had prepared and made some rice to go with it.  We played some phase ten after supper and it was probably the longest game ever.  We are home now and it is time for bed.

Sorry but I tried posting this, but I wasn't connected to the internet, so it didn't and I had to type it all out again.  So it is my second time and I feel it is not as good of a post.

Saturday awesomeness!

Right now, Tyler is singing a song.  Here are the only words he knows, "I'm shaving my shoulders."  It's catchy and I'm pretty sure I'll be singing it soon too, and that makes me sad.

Any way, today was great, although, since when is a Saturday not great.  No matter what you do during this day, it's always great.  It just always works out like that and that's one of the reasons I love this day.  Here are a few reason's why today was just so great:

1) Sleeping in.  I slept in until 9:30.  Tyler woke up at 7 and laid in bed until 9.  He finds it harder and harder to actually sleep in now that he's a full time working man.  I finally got out of bed at 9:30, even though I really wanted to just sleep some more.  After eating breakfast of, yup you guessed it, Special K, we made out the menu for the week.

2)  Menu making.  It's our typical Saturday adventure of picking out what we want to eat next week.  It's kind of a bad habit to buy food on a Saturday, since that gives us the opportunity to eat all the special foods on a boring day.  Luckily, today was not a boring day.  It's getting more and more difficult to pick out dinners for the week.  It's a good thing we have a ton of salmon in the freezer so we can experiment with some recipes that include something other then chicken.

3) No work.  Of course, this one is obvious, but with no work comes a lot of play.  Today the weather was so nice that it felt like summer.  After last night, we decided to go for a walk with Ryan (the locum doctor), Kendra (the pharmacy tech) and the two of us.  We went up to the town reservoir for the start of our hike.  We then walked past it and went along the shore of the lake that was dammed up.  We came across a board walk that took us around and through the forest and water.  At some points of this board walk, it was so rickety that we all thought we would fall into the calm water.  It was so beautiful around there.  Most of the trees that were growing in the water, were all dead and had no branches attached.  We will put up some pictures tomorrow because it was truly beautiful.  It was also super fun to go for a hike with those people.  They are great to hang out with.  The end of the trail led out to a road that's in the middle of town.  What's kind of funny is that we have walked past the entrance of that trail many times.  Tyler has always wanted to go in there, but it's always been too scary.  This trail entrance is really dark and shadowy, and not that I believed this, there is a spray painted message on the ground that says, "Boogieman lives here".  It didn't really scare me, but you know, you can never be too careful.

4) Frisbee.  After our hike, we went to the school field and tossed the frisbee around.  The only unfortunate thing about playing frisbee is that only Ryan really knew how to pass it so it reached the intended person.  The rest of us kind of tried and it would only some times be successful. It was still fun though.  It was about 20 degrees out today, and after our hike, we were all pretty thirsty.  so we soon called it quits on the frisbee tossing.

5) Relaxing.  I love relaxing with Tyler on a day where there is no work.  We came home and drank a ton of water.  Then we relaxed in the hammock, watching the water.  I brought Kitty out in her red harness and she walked around tentatively at first, then she wanted to go everywhere.  Our neighbors have  a pretty huge dog, named Ty which I thought was funny, and he's always on their back deck.  He likes to bark and I didn't want Kitty to be scared.  She sat with Tyler on the hammock for a while.  Then I brought her inside again.  It was actually a little too hot to be sitting outside, so we came inside and relaxed some more.

We were invited to go out to Shearwater again tonight, but we didn't have any cash to pay for the seabus and we wanted to just spend some more time together.  Also, they were going over at 8 for dinner and we didn't want to eat that late again.

The rest of our night was really awesome.  We made some dinner, lazed around together.  It was all very great.

Today was awesome.  It's always great to have lots of fun with new people and with Tyler.  I love spending all my spare time with Tyler.  It makes me so happy.

Now, to sit back and enjoy some more time with Tyler and Kitty.  Kitty has just walking around, being a little turkey.

Enjoy the rest of Saturday and tomorrow as well.

Sea beast

So today again started as any other.  Cat was being a pain, wake up, go to work.  I got up and saw that it was very cool this morning at home.  Wasn't the case here.  It was bright and sunny.  It was 8 degrees when I went to work.  The day was very slow.  The clinic was closed today meaning no new patients, and people rarely come in unless the doctors are seeing them that day or they are coming from their appointment.  Needless to say, the day actually went by pretty quick.  I came home for lunch and relax for an hour.  Then went back to work.

During the day I was asked by one of the locum doctors if I wanted to go kayaking after work.  I agreed and we met up about 4:30 and took off.  We went towards the ferry in hopes of seeing a whale somewhere on our trip.  Along the way I told him that there was a graveyard just in shore in the forest.  So when we got there we stopped and got out and ventured around looking at all the old graves.  After doing that we continued on our way across the bay to the ferry terminal and then on to the moutah of the creek where the salmon are running.  They are looking very sickly and near the end of their lives.  They are staring to turn white and their eyes are getting cloudy.  I tried catching a couple from the kayak but its a whole different ball game doing it from sea level than on shore perched above them.  You are more on their level and don't have quite the leverage needed for a good catch.  We hung around there for a bit before deciding to come back.  We were trying to make the sea bus to Shearwater and go out for supper as its his last weekend here for a while.  So we started back.  Then we heard a pffffffff!! (humpback whale spouting).  So after all the talk of seeing a whale on kayaks we had at least heard one.  So we stopped paddling and waited to see if we could see the whale.  He came up again this time a little closer to us.  It was super cool.  We waited some more hoping that he would come even closer to us, for optimum picture taking possibilities, unfortunately this happened the only time I didn't take my camera kayaking.  He came up again but this time it was behind us.  We kept watching and the whale continued south towards Vancouver.  We finally left the ferry for home at 6, and since he was expecting a phone call at 6:30 and we were trying to make the 7 o'clock sea bus, we had to hoof it.  We made it back to town in record time.  We beached the kayaks exactly at 6:30, in time for his phone call.

After we put the gear away I came home for a quick shower to wash the salt off and then it was off again to the pier to catch the bus.  We went over and had a delicious supper with the pharmacy tech, Ryan the doctor and a dentist who is here for the week.  I of course had the bacon cheese burger and Sonja had a chicken burger.  We hung out over there and talked while we waited for the bus back.  We also played a few games of pool.  But since we were so immersed in our pool game we had to wait for another hour for the next bus back to Bella Bella.  So we played more pool.  It was fun.  A good and different way to spend a Friday night.  We also met some of the local teachers who were over there for supper as well.

But as it is late, as is this post I am off to bed.  Tomorrow we are off for a hike.  I was told by Ryan that there is a boardwalk behind the town, by the reservoir so were are going to go there.  Apparently its a pretty good walk that comes out behind the school.  Thats all for today.

Thursday

Thursdays are usually pretty exciting, as it inevitably leads to Friday.  Unfortunately, Friday has slightly lost its excitement for me.  Only because all my days are pretty much like Saturdays, the only difference is that Tyler isn't around on Monday to Friday.  Otherwise, it's all the same to me.

This morning, Kitty was a bad cat and walked all over me, thus keeping me up from 5am to 7am.  I went into the other room so she wouldn't wake Tyler up.  That didn't really work, because she started scratching at a box.  It started to really irritate me, as I was so tired.  I went back into our room and locked her out.  She is such a brat and makes it hard to love her some times.

I slept in this morning until 8:30.  I just couldn't get myself out of bed.  After finally doing at least that, I then had to struggle to find something to eat (which ended up being Special K), get myself motivated enough to work out (which was really difficult because I was yawning the whole time and just wanted to lay down).  Then I had to do the dishes, and it was lucky there weren't a lot of them or else I could have fallen asleep at the sink.  I also emptied the dryer.  It was all very easy, but I was pretty sleepy so it made it difficult.

Once I showered, I started working on my project again.  Tyler came home from work for lunch, we laughed, he left for work.  It was a slow day for him and it's looking like it will the same tomorrow.

After he left, I started reading, worked some more on my project, stopped for an hour to watch my favorite show, Friends, on TV.  Tyler came home from work and I started on supper.  Supper was Cheese Chicken, and yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.  We had it with rice and it was so good.

Then we went to the ferry.  Tyler wanted to see if he could find a hook he lost last week.  We got there and I cast a few times.  The fish weren't biting, but they were swimming around.  I also saw one of the world's largest Seagull Conventions.  For those of you who didn't grow up in my family, a seagull convention is when you see a gathering a seagulls, it's pretty simple to figure out.  Any way, there were about a million seagulls there, and they all took flight, right over us.  We escaped untouched by their droppings, a mere miracle.

Tyler caught another fish, but before he could get it on shore, it stole his hook.  It was sad as that is the second new hook he lost.  We will check the dead fish later to see if we can find it.  We then went to where the salmon are getting up the waterfall.  I tried my hand at catching one with my bare hands, and it was creepy.  I screamed a lot, mostly because of the way the wriggled when I held them out of the water.  A few were dropped, but not many.

We walked home and are now relaxing.  It was a great day!  Taking a walk with Tyler was really awesome.

Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!  This weekend is supposed to be great on the weather front.  We have big plans, so I'm really looking forward to it.

My sister, Eva, wrote her LPN national exam yesterday - and I know she just did great!!!!  Good luck on that!!!!!!!  Love you!

Today I woke up and got ready for work.  The day went by pretty slow.  There are only two doctors in town today and for the rest of the week.  So one of those doctors is the on-call and ER doctor and the other one is seeing patients.  So it makes for a not very busy day.  The rest of the week will be worse as one doctor has an afternoon off and the other is on office duty.  This will add up to a slow couple days.  I came home for lunch and had a sandwich and some of the dessert we made.  They both were really good.  After lunch it continued being slow.  It really drags the day on when no one comes in for their blood work, and the ER being usually empty.

I came home for supper and we had buffalo chicken burgers.  Again they were very good.  One on my favorite things to eat.

Today Sonja did her workout, and cleaned the dishes and tidied the house.  She spent the afternoon working on her project.

It was a cloudy day today with parts where the sun was trying to peek through.  It is supposed to clear up tomorrow afternoon, which is nice because it is just in time for the weekend.  We are planning to hike behind the town to the lake and reservoir, and it will be much more enjoyable in cooperate-able weather. But don't tell the weather our plans because it will do what it can to ruin them.

We spent the evening watching TV.  America's Got Talent Finale is on so were hoping that our favorite wins.  Bedtime after we find out though.

Bank Day!!!

Today was Tuesday.  Banking Tuesday, I hoped.  That's getting a little ahead of myself...lets start at the beginning of the day -

Kitty decided to be a pain in the butt and wanting attention at 5am.  I managed to put her on ignore until 6 but then, she won.  Her cone was all up in my face and I couldn't get her away.  I probably could have locked her out of our room, but then she would have scratched, and any way, it was just easier to let her crawl all over me.  She did settle down a bit, although it was on my pillow right above my head.  It was better then having to pay attention to her.

The alarm went off and we both got out of bed.  I don't know why I got up so early, as I really had nothing to do today.  But, the huge pile of dishes was looming over me, so I wanted to get that over with.  We ate some breakfast and I got on with the dishes.  And since Kitty likes to shred all the brown bags we have, I vacuumed up her mess.

And then, there really wasn't much for me to do.  The house was in order and it was only 8:30am.  It's a nice feeling.  Today was my day off from working out.  I could have done this stretching dvd, but it seems like a big waste of time.  It does feel good to just stretch, but for an hour, come on people!  Tomorrow I start on week 3 of my routine.  I'm excited that I've done so well at doing this every day.  My usual problem is that I work out for a few days, and then when something disrupts my routine, I stop and can't just pick it up again.  Not this time.  I'm proud of myself.  Now if Tyler would stop making buttery popcorn, my healthy eating could get in check.

The rest of the day, I cross-stitched.  I'm getting a great start on my project and it should be done by the dead line I've given myself.  I have a few other projects I want to get done before I come home for Christmas.  I plan on getting some more projects when we are back, and that makes me excited.

The only other thing I had planned for today was something I didn't think would happen.  Today is bank day!  Last week, the bank didn't show up, so I had to wait another week to put all my pay cheques from the summer into my account.  I showed up, fully expecting to just walk right back home.  But it was there and I was happy!  Pay cheques in account - check :)

I came home and continued to cross-stitch.  It was a nice day.  Tyler came home from work right as I started dinner.  I made lasagna and it was good.  I did mess it up though.  Not my best meal.  It tasted and looked just like a regular lasagna, but there weren't as many layers as when other people make it.  It was tasty either way.

Right now, we are trying to keep Kitty awake so she sleeps through the night.  I seriously feel like she is my baby and she wakes me at all hours of the night.  Every one else has real babies, but I'm the only one feeling the effects.  Also right now, Kitty is laying on the couch and Tyler moved a little to wake her up, and she took over the space he just vacated.  It was funny.  What's even more funny, is that Tyler just sat on the edge of the couch, not moving her out of the way.  Just proves he loves her more then he lets on!  He will deny it, but I know the truth.

Not much planned for tonight.  Tyler is about to eat another piece of banana split dessert.  This will be piece number 3 today, and they aren't small pieces.  This recipe is mostly sugar and butter.  How he isn't in a sugar food coma, I will never know.

Take care tonight!!

Foggy Day

When I got up this morning I looked outside at the channel and I couldn't even see the dock.  It was so foggy outside,  By the time I had gone to work the fog had lifted a little bit.  There was blue sky on the island side of the house.  Work was pretty steady most of the day so that was good.  It was nice for the day to go by quick.  Soon enough it was time to come home.  The weather also turned out very nice.  Its supposed to rain tomorrow and some on Wednesday before clearing up for the weekend.

We went to the post office and to the store.  We got a recipe from Sonja's mom for a delicious dessert and I decided that I wanted to make it.  Sonja made supper while I started to make this awesome dessert.  She made curry deer and potatoes.  It was a very good supper.  After we were done eating we finished making dessert and put it in the fridge to cool.  That also turned out very tasty.

We spent the evening watching a movie called Killers.  It was good.  I enjoyed it.  It was pretty funny with parts of action and twists.  Nothing else planned for tonight.  I will be able to sleep good tonight since I don't have the on call phone so I can sleep peacefully.  It will be nice to sleep, hopefully the cat will cooperate with me.

Tomorrow its off to work again for me, and then going to the ferry.  I snagged a salmon last time I was there and lost my hook.  It was my own fault because I didn't check my knot, but I'm hoping I can find the fish that has it in his fin or wherever it is and retrieve it.  The great thing about salmon is that they are all heading up stream right now, so I just need to be looking for it.

Late Night

I am so tired, and this time it has nothing to do with sweet Kitty.  We were laying in bed talking, trying to fall asleep, when my phone started ringing.  I had every intention of ignoring it, as I was already sleepy before we went to bed.  I ignored it and almost fell back asleep.  But then, it started ringing again.  I had to answer it, as an unanswered phone is most annoying, plus I knew that if they were calling me for a second time, they didn't have any luck reaching any one else.

I answered, begrudgingly, and heard those awful words, "Hey, it's so and so at the RCMP, can you come in and guard?"  They aren't that bad of words, considering what I hear when they say them is, "Want to come in and watch movies and we'll pay you for it?"  It only is unfortunate when I just warmed up my bed and was almost asleep.

I turned on the light, which Tyler wasn't to happy about, to find some appropriate work clothing and gathered my belongings to take to work.  I brought my current cross stitch project and the lap top to occupy the time.  I got to work to hear my guest screaming a bunch of cuss words and other drunk things.  He had some how squeezed the mattress out of the food trap door, which doesn't look easy to do.  I guess it was the drunk strength that helped him out.

I had to put up with him screaming about how cold he was, banging the door with his hands and feet.  He tried to trick me into thinking he was sleeping, complete with fake snoring.  He got up 5 minutes later, stating that he has slept and can now go home again.  He finally fell asleep and I was able to get on to what I really was there to do - watch movies and work on my cross stitch.  I was there from 11:20pm to 9:00 this morning.  I managed to watch 4 movies, which is, yes, a giant waste of time when I'd rather be sleeping, but it makes the time go faster.

I wasn't sure when this prisoner was going to be released because there was more to him then just being drunk.  The next police officer showed up to work this morning a little after 8 and has to review his file before setting this guy free.  I would have had to be there at least until 12.  I was already falling asleep so the thought of having to spend more time there, made me want to cry.  The cop called someone else in and I was able to go home for 9.  The bonus to going home before the prisoner is released is that I didn't have to clean the cell he was in.  He was spitting all over that place, so it was nice to just go home.

Another reason I was disappointed to go to work was because I knew I would then miss saying farewell to our real house guest.  He was gone by the time I got home, on his way home.  He is currently on a 21 hour long ferry ride, stopping at every little village.  He has a 3 hour stop at a town that's only half an hour away.

I got home and Tyler was already at work.  I managed to get into bed before the heat from Tyler sleeping there escaped.  I really didn't want to sleep all day so I left a note asking Tyler to wake me at 1:00pm.

Once I was awake, not much happened.  It was a nice day.  I worked out, reluctantly and as always, it was nice when it was done.  I showered and we just spent time together.  We made ourselves chicken burgers for dinner.  They were really good.  We had other plans for supper tonight but I'm super tired and neither of us felt like putting in much effort.

I'm fading fast, so exhausted from getting no sleep last night.  I expect that even if Kitty sat on my face all night, I'd be able to sleep through it.

We are currently watching America's Funniest Videos, which is always good for a laugh.  We just had some very crisp grapes and I'm just waiting to go to bed.  I'm excited for bed tonight.

Hope you all enjoyed the weekend.  I sure did.

Rainy Day

Well today I didn't get to sleep in at all. It was my own fault I woke up around 7 to go to the bathroom. I wasn't able to go back to sleep and I decided to get up as I had to go into work this morning. So I went and surfed the internet a bit this morning before heading to work. I came home half hour later and found that uncle Duane got up. He took off to do some more fishing. I started the grocery list and picked out the meals for the week. Since Sonja worked most of last weekend over the supper hour, I just replaced the meals we didn't eat then, for this week. That made my job a lot easier. Sonja woke up shortly after and ate some breakfast. After she was done we headed off to the store. Uncle Duane came with us to get some food for his drive back tomorrow. He leaves for his 21 hour ferry ride tomorrow at 9:30, making stops in Shearwater, Klemtu, Oceanfalls and finally arriving in Bella Coola Monday morning.

While we were at the store I got a call from the doctor on call asking me to come in. He also asked if I wanted to go out on the boat with him and fish. I said yes, as long as both uncle Duane and I could go. I went into work and did the xrays and blood work. I came home an hour later and uncle Duane had gone to see the creek at the ferry terminal. After uncle Duane came back we were on our way out fishing when Willard, a man who works at the hospital, came by and took us to see his smoke house. He actually had some fish smoking today which was really cool. He had them on stakes and circled around the fire. He gave some to Uncle Duane in trade of some deer meat after Christmas when Sonja and I came home.

After we came back we went out fishing again for some rock fish on the spit. We fished there for a bit but didn't catch as many as there has been in the last couple days. So we decided to head back to the ferry to catch uncle Duane a salmon. We got there and walked down the trail to the outlet of the creek, only to find that the tide was way up. There were some posts from an old dock that were ten feet out of the water yesterday, almost completely covered by the ocean. So that dashed our hopes of catching anything. All the shore was underwater, up to the tree line, so we couldn't even climb around to a dry spot. So we came back and checked out the dump for bears, again coming up empty handed. We came back and I started to get supper ready.

We had pizza for supper. It turned out pretty good. Very filling. After supper uncle Duane wanted a few more starfish pictures, and with the tide retreating we went on the prowl. We found a few but, it was getting a little to dark for pictures.

We are now eating popcorn and likely going to watch a movie. Tomorrow I have to go into work in the morning for a little bit and uncle Duane takes off. Of course its going to clear up and finally stop raining.

Photoblog 7 - Catch O' the Day

Fresh out of the water.

The measurement. 84 cm!

In comparison to my height

Uncle Duane's rock fish.

Dream come True!!!!

Kitty was a good girl last night and slept mostly through, giving me a peaceful sleep. I still slept in a bit this morning because that is always great. I woke up to hear Duane going out for a morning photo shoot.

I got up, ate a breakfast of Special K and Lucky Charms. The Special K is to make me feel like I'm eating healthy, and the Lucky Charms are to make me feel like a kid again... just kidding, Lucky Charms are just so good. I worked out, again starting with DDR and the moving on to a shoulder and arm routine. It felt great.

I did the dishes and then showered. It poured all day today, so Duane came home and was out on the deck most of the afternoon. I worked on a cross stitching project after lunch. I'm pretty excited about it. I'm about half way done it now. I'm not going to tell you guys what it is because with Christmas pretty much around the corner, you never know what will happen.

My day's don't really consist of much, but I'm loving this time. I am doing what I want to do and enjoying it to the fullest. I am much happier now that I'm living this way. I'm blessed to be able to be at home. I'm haven't been bored yet and I don't plan on getting to that point. I have lots planned for myself for the next few months, until Christmas at least. Don't you worry about me! I'll be just fine.

I made a supper of back strap with mashed potatoes. Another successful meal, with nothing getting burnt, followed the recipe to a tee. It turned out so good. That cut of deer is just so tasty it makes my mouth water just remembering it.

The guys went down to the ferry to do some fishing. Tyler and Duane caught a ton of fish last night, and now Duane is on the same mission as Tyler is - To catch the large, to catch the elusive salmon. And this is where I hand the computer over to Tyler to regale his tale of blood, sweat, time and even a few tears... well, maybe not shed tears, but there is some sadness in what you are about to read. Grab your tissues, some ones about to turn on the waterworks----

Son

Well here's hoping I can live up to the epic intro that Sonja has wrote for me.

It all started after supper Uncle Duane and I drove up to the ferry bay to do some fishing. After he caught over 75 rockfish throughout the day it was time to pursue something a little more sporting. We were fishing for salmon. The ferry bay is were one of the creeks meets that the salmon have been swimming up for the last couple of weeks. So we figured that our odds of catching something were pretty good. I was just excited to be testing out all of the new lures I got. So we staked out our desired fishing spots and started fishing. I casted out and reeled it in and got nothing but weeds. I regrouped and recast and started reeling. I got the hook about half way in when I felt a tug. I brushed it off as another weed and continued reeling. I thought it was a weed as the hook I was using likes to dive and scrape the bottom. But this weed fought back and took my line out with it. So I fought back this time and the battle was on. I reeled and played around with this fish for a few minutes before getting serious and actually bringing him in. This guy put up the best fight of any fish I have ever caught. It was so much fun. I got him in, took the hook out and discovered he was a monster. We took some pictures of my prized salmon and enjoyed the moment. Its a good feeling to catch one by hand in a creek, like a bear, but its just as good to catch it in the water with a hook and fight it in. So the pressure for uncle Duane was on. He wanted one now to go with the rock fish he decided to keep today. So we continued fishing. It rained and we kept fishing. The fish we so thick in the bay with the tide going out that we ended up snagging a lot more fish. This was because of the concentration of the fish in the water. We managed to get another three salmon in but because they were snagged and it wasn't fair to keep them. After the tide went most of the way out and we snagged another fish we decided it was time to pack it in and clean the monster I caught. We forgot to bring a bag of any kind to put it in so we ended up wrapping it up in a shirt to keep the slime off of the car. We came back and Sonja was stitching on the couch. I walked in with this jumbo chum and she was in shock. I got it onto the deck and Sonja got the camera and took a few more pictures. I measured my dream catch and he was 34 inches long or 84 cm. So pretty big. Based on that length he was somewhere between 16 and 30 lbs, likely closer to the 30 lb mark. We cleaned our catch, uncle Duane cleaned his rock fish and I cleaned my salmon. I used my newly acquired cleaning skills and had it done in no time. Cut it up into steaks and threw him in the freezer. So that is the exciting evening I had today. However on a sadder note, I awoke this morning to find that Pinchy had passed sometime in the night. Sadly it was probably pretty slow as it could have been the warm water being in the house and not the freezing cold ocean. We have now learned that empty pickle jars make bad crabitats.

Our plans for tomorrow is more fishing, after a callback tomorrow morning. Uncle Duane needs his salmon now.

Thats all for tonight. I will put pictures of the catch up shortly.

Pinchy

Today was a good day. It started out with cat being dumb scratching at the closet door in the morning. She is kinda upset at not being allowed to sleep in her usual place. I got up and showered, had breakfast and got ready for work. Work this morning was pretty slow. I came home for coffee and told uncle Duane to come and get his saltwater license sometime before noon, as that is the time when it is usually not busy. So he came by and got him his license printed off and all ready to fish. I came home for lunch shortly after. I spent the lunch hour eating a sandwich, and getting all my new fishing gear ready to test and catch fish. I went back to work and didn't do any real work. I had an xray to do when I got a message from Sonja telling me that there were some orcas swimming our way. Fortunately it was almost coffee time so I came home in hopes of seeing them. Unfortunately I walked through the door and Sonja informed me that they were gone. I stood out on the deck for a little while watching for spouts but there was nothing. I was ready to go back to work without seeing any orcas. Then uncle Duane climbed up the deck and told me that they were back. Sure enough there were six or seven orcas swimming across the channel heading north. I went back to work to finish off my day. Nothing was going on until 4:20 when blood work from Klemtu came in and needed to be analyzed. I got off work around 5:30 and came home to find supper had been ready for a half hour. We had classy chicken for supper. It was delicious again.

After supper uncle Duane and I went fishing off of the spit. I guaranteed uncle Duane that he would catch a fish with the hook I gave him. The guarantee pulled through and on his second cast he had a fish on the hook. We were out there for two and a half hours and between the two of us we had around 40 fish reeled in. We put them all back tonight but tomorrow they may not be so lucky. With we were out there we found a little tiny crab on the rocks. We put a hook down in front of it and to our surprise he tried to bring it to his mouth. We pulled him out and brought him home. My crab-i-tat finally has an occupant his name is Pinchy. We came back in and I cleaned up the pickle jar and feed Pinchy some rock fish we had in the freezer.

Uncle Duane had a good day today. He went out to Morgan lake for a hike to see some bears and some scenery. He got there and saw some salmon on the shore that were half eaten, mostly their heads were eaten and the rest was left. He was thinking that it was bears. I was told though that the wolves here only eat the heads and leave the rest for animals that can't catch the fish. Based on that I'm guessing that it was wolves eating the salmon at the lake. He also saw a mink, seal, rat, humpback whale and some orcas today. Plus the close to 30 fish he caught.

Hopefully the weather cooperates tomorrow and hold off a bit on the rain. Soon though it is bedtime.

I got home last night at midnight. It was a long night because the prisoner turned into a whiny baby when I turned his music off, and then even more so when I wouldn't answer the doorbell. I tried to explain to him that it wasn't my job to answer the door. He thought it was someone coming to spring him from jail. It wasn't and I secretly laughed at him for being a doofus.

I got home and crawled into bed. Tyler had just gone to bed an hour earlier so he wasn't asleep yet. We talked for a bit and soon drifted off to sleep. A few hours earlier, I woke up. The light was on and I was searching for something in my night stand. Tyler was asking me what I was doing and I had no idea. Tyler said that I told him his boss wanted me to find something. And I wasn't quiet about it. It's super confusing waking up doing something while having no idea what that is. It was funny though, to hear Tyler talk about it today.

Kitty woke me up several times last night, so, instead of her also waking up the working man, I leave the room and Kitty follows me. She pretty much adores me and will come with me any where. I went and laid on the spare bed. Then she started scratching in a box (because she is stupid and likes to eat cardboard) which kept me awake, so I moved to the couch. Outside was a beautiful color yellow. I love that time of day. It's so beautiful, so peaceful. But, unfortunately, at that time of day, I am so tired. Its hard to fully enjoy that when you can't keep your eyes open long enough to see it.

Tyler got out of bed, showered and we ate breakfast. He went off to work and I did my morning routine. I worked out, which is always fun because I start by playing DDR and then move into my dvds. I did the dishes while the laundry was on, so that's my super housewife persona coming through. For some reason, when our dryer is on a certain setting, the clothes and towels come out smelling like body odor. It's not great at all. Tyler's scrubs smelt really bad today, so I washed them. It was productive.

Then Tyler came home for lunch. We ate and relaxed before Tyler went back to work. Since I was taming Kitty all morning, I was really tired. I read from my ebook reader and tried to put some new free books on it. Then my favorite show was on at 3, which is Friends. I laugh all the time for that show. I was so tired, so it felt good to just sit there. And please don't make any comments on how that's what I do all day because it's not, so there.

And then I saw the ferry. Uncle Duane came today and I was supposed to watch out for his ferry. I texted Tyler and told him he had arrived. Tyler and Duane came into the house and I had dinner pretty much ready. We stood and talked while the potatoes finished cooking. It's always fun to hear about other peoples trips.

We sat down and ate one of my favorite meals. Chicken with mashed potatoes and homemade gravy. Then Tyler had to go back to work because he is on call this week. When he came back, we took a walk around the town. On our walk, we heard the sweet sound of wolves. They were far away but it was still cool. I'm not sure I have ever heard a wolf howl before, but they do sound like coyotes so maybe I have.

It was a good walk, but as mentioned perviously, I am so tired. We came home and Duane went out to take a few pictures while the sun was still up.

And here we are. Just relaxing and typing this blog. Tyler found a section of our blog that tells us different stats about our blog. The coolest part is that our blog has been read across the world. People in China, Israel, South Africa, and some other cool places have made pit stops on our pages. Not that I think they care or really even read it, but the fact that they were on our site, makes me feel pretty cool.

Going to bed pretty soon and I hope Kitty sleeps all night long.

Good night!!

Sorry

Well I will start off by apologizing for not putting a post up last night. Sonja has been working every night at the RCMP since Saturday, and in doing that she has been taking our computer to help the time go by for her. Since I was left with just my phone for Internet combined with not doing anything, I forgot to blog last night. Last night I watched some of the first season of Heroes.

Today we woke up and I got ready for work. Work today was alright. It went by pretty quick as it was kinda steady. Before I knew it it was lunchtime. I came home to find a sandwich awaiting me for lunch. It was really good. I went back to work and finished off the day. I got a text from Sonja around 2 o'clock telling me that she would be guarding again tonight. Again I have to blog from my phone but I won't forget to post it this time. I came home and had a grilled buffalo chicken burger for supper. It was really good. The weather cleared up a lot from yesterday. It was actually warm by the time I came home. Tomorrow uncle Duane shows up on the ferry and will be here till Sunday morning. Not much up for me tonight. Just watch TV and eventually go to bed.

Long weekend Adventure - Day 3

So, Tyler said he blogged last night, but it doesn't really look like he did. I have to apologize for him.

I will let him write one for yesterday because it was another great day.

But, onward to today. It was great day 3 to the long weekend we are having. I had to work last night at the RCMP until midnight, so when I got home, Tyler and I just went straight to bed. I had to wake up early to workout. I know that if I skip one day, it will ruin my motivation to workout every day. So, after complaining a whole lot about how I didn't want to get up, and why did Tyler have to make plans for 10am, I finally got around to doing my workout. Today was legs and back, and my legs are now like jelly worms. It's really pathetic.

We ate breakfast and got ready for our day plans. We went out kayaking to Shearwater with Kendra and Graham. Kendra works in the pharmacy and Graham is her boyfriend. Tyler signed out the key and we got all the equipment ready to go. We did tandem kayaking this time, which I loved and Tyler hated. I sat in the front. I loved it because Tyler and I were together the whole time. He wasn't speeding ahead of me, leaving me behind to fend for myself and I liked that we could both enjoy the trip together. Tyler hated it because he loves going fast and said I was slowing him down and lot of other encouraging things. It took us about an hour to get to Shearwater. There was complaining all around about how the arms were hurting and all that. It was a tough trip. Across the channel and then around a bend. I did this all super terrified. I have become scared again of the ocean because of how close the whales were getting to the shore. If they were that close, then they were every where. Even last night, I was having nightmares about us tipping out of the kayak and a whale brushing up against my leg. It creeped me out, but it turned out to be a really fun time.

Once we finally got to Shearwater, we had no idea where to park the kayaks. We just left them on the dock and hoped no one would take them. We were sure no one would because why would someone take a boat you have to power yourself, when there are motor boats all over the place. We went to the restaurant. I like the food in that restaurant better then the one here on Bella Bella. The food is less greasy over there. I ordered a tuscan chicken burger and Tyler had just a regular burger with bacon. They were both really good. When we done, we walked around the sleepy little town. Nothing was going on. We walked to a place that looked like a tug boat grave yard. There were a whole bunch of tug boats up on blocks, most needing a good painting. We decided to head back to Bella Bella because I have to go back into the RCMP again at 4pm till midnight, and I wanted to get a little nap in there.

The trip back home seemed a lot shorter, and we were back home in no time. We put the kayak stuff away and headed for the shower. And then we napped. It was wonderful. Only for an hour, so by the time you wind down and actually fall asleep, you don't get that long of a nap.

I know this blog comes early today but thats because Tyler isn't going to do anything tonight (his words) so I might as well just blog now.

It's been a really fun long weekend that wasn't planned. We had no idea what we were going to be doing, but we have managed to have a really great time. It's the first long weekend in a long time, we have been together so it's nice to be doing things together.

I will tell Tyler to write about his night last night for your reading pleasure.

I wonder what tomorrow has in store for us?!?!?

So I forgot to post my blog last night. I did write one, but Sonja had the computer and had to resort to writing it on my phone. I was invited out to a campfire on the beach around 9 o'clock so in the rush I forgot to actually post the blog. I sent it through my email but didn't get it online until this afternoon. The campfire was good. It didn't rain and wasn't cold. We were out there for two hours or so when the campfire exploded. Literally exploded. It shot coals at my and I had the fire sitting in my lap. I rolled off of the log I was sitting on and got all the coals off of me. I survived with no burns and a sore elbow from hitting the ground. We decided to call it a night then. We looked around as to why it exploded and we decided that it was because the fire was build beside an excess concrete dump pile. There was some moisture in there and the heat made it explode. There were chunks of concrete beside the log i was on and you can see where it blew off of the dump pile. I was lucky none of that hit me. It was pretty crazy.

Bush man

Well today started out like any other Saturday morning. We got up and started the grocery list. We went to the store after to get what was on the list. When we were in the checkout we ran into the new pharmacy tech. In the conversation Sonja told her about our adventure yesterday. So we ended up going to the creek again today win her and her boyfriend. So they came by around 1 and we left. We took the road his time so it was much easier and quicker. We got there and the salmon were swimming hard again trying to get up the waterfall. While they were swimming I decided it would be a good idea to try my hand at fishing. Bushman style. I crouched down at the end of the platform and reached down to catch a fish. They were swimming really close to the surface. I started out just grabbing their fins and seeing if I could just hold them back. That was fun but I wanted more. I kept at it and decided that it would be possible to grab one out of the water. So I did. It was awesome! I snatched it by the tail and pulled it up out of the water. Sonja took some pictures of my catch. It was such a rush. The most exciting thing since the whale i saw while I was fishing. We continued watching the fish for a while and I decided that I needed to do it again. So again I crouched down and waited for my moment to strike. It came and I got another one. Again I snatched him out of the water and Sonja took some more pictures. I tried to pose with it and he struggled and I lost him back to the water. We came back and shortly after coming home Sonja got called to the RCMP. I have spent the rest of the night watching TV. No plans for the rest of the night. We might be going kayaking tomorrow.
