The trip and Bella Bella so far

So here we are, settled in and all unpacked. What a long trip. 14 hours of driving along highway 1 on Tuesday followed by an evening with friends in Vancouver. The drive was good. It was a Tuesday so there wasn't very much traffic. The cat settled down around Red Deer so we only had to deal with 2 hours of her really meowing. Lots of construction along the way. It seemed like after Banff we hit some every 20kms but since there wasn't much traffic it all went pretty smoothly. Saw 5 mule deer in Banff, a black bear after Revelstoke and a large rodent possibly a woodchuck or groundhog I'm not sure open for suggestions of what it was. But whatever it was he was outside of Kamloops. The car didn't really enjoy being so loaded and driving the Cocahula. We got into Langley at 7 and meet up with our friends and went to their place for the night. Up at 4 on Wednesday to catch the ferry to Nanimo. 2 hours later arrive in Nanimo and get some Timmies for breakfast
before we drive up the island to Port Hardy. 4 1/2 hours later we arrive in Port Hardy to wait for another ferry to bring us to our new home. We got on the ferry, made sure the cat had food and water and was comfortable and went up to the main deck. We left Port Hardy at 5:30 and sailed along. Waited and waited to finally pull into Bella Bella shortly after midnight to drive off and find our apartment and finally get some sleep.

The next day was spent unpacking and setting up shop, interuppted by a helicopter landing 100' from the deck and eagles. Lots and lots of eagles. Sonja made some supper after we went to the grocery store. That was an expensive little trip. Try to stock up our place and get food to eat. $15.00 for a block of cheese. But our only real expense is food so it will be alright. After supper we spent the evening relaxing on the couch, made some popcorn and watched some TV before going to bed.

This morning we woke up and had some french toast for breakfast. After while we were cleaning up I looked outside and saw a Holland America cruise ship sailing right past. This place is very surprising. I wouldn't have expected to see that here. Spent more of the day unpacking and cleaning up the place, unpacking clothes and cleaning he living room. Stopped for lunch and made some deer tenderloin for supper. Now I have finally figured out how to set up this blog and am typing this now.
