We have now been in Edmonton for almost a week and it's been pretty awesome. It's been a while since my last post and it's time to update the world on what we've been up to.
The trip home was something that no one should have to experience. We woke up last Saturday at 2 am, which is way to early for anyone to wake up. We had to wake up Ryan too, and that was the first mistake of many made on our way home. The plan was for Ryan to fall back asleep and us to have a peaceful ferry ride. As all well laid plans go, this one failed horribly. Ryan was awake for the majority of the 8 hour ferry ride. He maybe slept an hour the whole time and with such little sleep, Ryan turned into something we've never seen before. He screamed and cried and wouldn't calm down. It was horrible. We pulled over to the side of the road many times to try and make him more comfortable. That was probably the second mistake we made. He was transferred in and out of his seat and as soon as he would go back in his seat, he was erupt into a fussy monster baby. We ended up getting to our friends house that evening at around 8.
We left her house at about 5 the next morning. The plan was to leave when Ryan woke up for his night time feed. He always goes back to sleep for a few hours after I feed him so it was only smart to plan getting some road behind us at that time. We made it to Kamloops before we had to stop. We enjoyed some breakfast and Ryan got out of his seat for some stretching and kicking. We were stopped for about 2 hours before we got going again. After that stop, the driving time got shorter and shorter while each break got longer. Ryan really hates his seat. We had to rearrange the vehicle so I could sit in the back with the Ry man. It helped a little but not as much as we wanted.
Our second night was spent in Canmore, with a beautiful view of the mountains. We didn't get to enjoy the view a lot because Ryan was cranky once again. We were both really tired and cranky so having a cranky baby didn't help anything at all. Tyler fell asleep on the bed while I walked the room with Ryan on my shoulder.
We got up the next morning and enjoyed the hotel breakfast before heading back home. Our goal for Monday was to get to Ponoka in one straight shot but it didn't work out that way. We had to stop in Balzac at Cross Iron Mills because Ryan needed a little break. We walked around the mall for a bit and then tried to go again. We got to Innisfail and then Red Deer for a walk around Walmart. We finally were able to put him back to sleep and decided to just head to my parents house.
We got to my parents place to pick up our apartment key. We stayed for a little while to visit and catch up but then we headed to our new place. Tyler packed all the stuff up to our place on the 3rd floor and soon our apartment was filled with stuff. It was everywhere. It's tough moving into a place with a baby because we didn't have as much time to unpack everything. Ryan takes up a lot of our time. Our place is now full of our stuff and it's starting to feel like home.
Once we got settled, we went out shopping for food, a crib, a new car seat (because Ryan has out grown his current seat). I got some new clothes and am now equipped for the summer.
Amy, Madi and Eva came over for a really nice visit. It's always great to hang out with them. I'm really looking forward to this summer and being close to see them every week.
We went to Mormor and Morfar's house for tea and a visit with my parents. It was a good visit and it's always nice to spend time with family.
Today was a relaxing day for us. We were outside a few times enjoying the sun and beautiful weather. We walked to a Chapters that is really close to our place and looked around for some books to buy. I have a birthday gift card to use and I tried my hardest to find a good book. One of the workers suggested one called "Shantaram" so I bought it. She said that it appeals to everyone and it's a really good read so I decided to give it a try.
Ranita came over this afternoon and as always, it was great to see her again. I'm so excited to be close to friends again. We talked for a while and then she had to go home again.
We had steak and rice for dinner and have just been enjoying each others company this evening. Ryan was just put to bed so we are just doing nothing. It's always nice to just sit and do nothing. Soon it's time for bed because we are tired.
Tomorrow, Tyler's parents and sister are coming over to see the Ry man. It's going to be good to see them again.

Done!!
Tyler is finished his final course and he couldn't be happier. He's worked so hard over the last few weeks and he finally gets to relax, just in time to start packing for our big trip home. He finished up at 3 and he says he did pretty well. He doesn't find out his final mark for about a week but I know he did awesome. He's awesome at everything he does and this wont be any different.
Our week has been fun... hmm, fun may not be the right word because we didn't do much but we did more then usual. And it's only been fun for me because Tyler's been glued to his books for what seems like forever.
Thursday afternoon, I was invited to the hospital for a going away party for a nurse who has been here for many years. I put Ryan in the cutest little outfit I could find because I know that even though I am invited to events, people really just want to see the Ry man. I'm okay with that. He's a celebrity around here, or a mascot. Either way, he's adorable and going to hospital events allows me to have a bit of hands free time. Ryan was wearing a cute pair of jeans with a striped shirt and a jean jacket with white faux wool. It's the cutest little jacket in the world and Ryan looks like such a bad ass. It's so cute. At this party, there was goodies to chow down on and good company to talk with. It happened at coffee break so most people came and left pretty quickly. I stayed around and talked with a few people whose shift had ended. We ended up talking for 2 hours and before I knew it, it was 5. I had told Tyler that I would have dinner ready when he got home from work at 5 so I quickly gathered Ryan up and went home. It was an easy dinner so it didn't take too long to whip together.
Friday evening, Tyler did some more studying. He locked himself in our room and I played with Ryan. We watched a movie once Ry was in bed. With free hands, I worked on my cross stitching project. It's taking forever to get this one complete. I knew it would but I go days without picking it up and that makes me sad. I think now that Tyler is free during the evenings, I will be able to find more time to work on it. Also, with us coming home and hours and hours of driving ahead of us, I'll put a decent dent in this project.
Saturday was the same as every other day, only Tyler got to study all day instead of just in the evening. I told him he should take a chair outside onto our deck and study in the sun but he thought it would be too distracting. It was amazing outside yesterday. It was the weather I'm looking forward to in Edmonton this summer. It was bright, hot, sunny and just awesome.
Saturday evening, the plan was to go over to Kendra's for some cards with a locum doctor we get along with really well. We went up there to find that it was a going away party for us and there were many more people there then we thought there would be. And there was so much good food. Ribs, chicken legs, chips, dips and a dessert that I wanted to bathe in it was soooo good. It was such a fantastic evening. We laughed a lot, talked a lot and enjoyed all the company of people who make this place so enjoyable. We have been asked so many times if we are coming back afterwards and no one seems to believe us when we say that yes, we are coming back. It's getting annoying because we ARE coming back. And Ryan was a huge hit. Everyone loves him. I'm getting use to the fact that people look forward to seeing him instead of Tyler and I. I know that when we get back home that fact will be even more evident but I'm ok with that.
Today was a good day. Since we got home late last night, Ryan seemed to sleep in. He slept from 1am to 7:30am and that's just awesome. I fed him for about half an hour and put him back in his crib. He woke up as soon as I laid him down but I headed to bed anyways. For the next 20 minutes, Tyler and I listened to Ryan kick and giggle and yawn and be the cutest baby in the world. He eventually fell back asleep and Tyler got out of bed. I was still sleeping when Tyler went into work for a bit. Our day was spent playing, being thrown up on many times, studying, and a few other things. It was a nice day and now Tyler no longer has to study. I'm so excited to finally have my husband back.
We will be spending this week packing up our place and seeing how compact we can get everything. I hope we can get everything we need into that vehicle.

We just got back from the doctor and everything is perfect with Ryan. He's actually too perfect as he is off the charts in height and weight. He is now 17 and a half pounds and 26 inches long. Such a little beef cake. The doctor said that he's the size of a small 6 month old. People back home aren't going to even recognize him because he's changed so much, but only in the greatest way. He's so much fun. Last night, he slept from 10:30ish to 6. We are pretty sure he's going through a growth spurt, or as Tyler pointed out, he hasn't really stopped spurting.
I can't believe we are coming home in 2 weeks. It's unreal how quickly these last 2 months have gone. I can't believe how fast time goes now that Ryan is here. Last night, Tyler got home from work at 6ish so I started dinner then too. We had soup and tomato sandwiches so it was quick and easy. Tyler had to study too and was called into work at some point. I got to spend the whole evening with Ryan. I got so many laughs and giggles that Tyler came out of our room where he was studying and asked us to keep it quiet. I didn't think we were that loud but I'm also still sick so I guess I can't hear that well. I lost my voice a few days ago and Tyler has been saying there is a donkey herd in my throat because I sounded like a donkey, or a goose. I feel like Ryan has been laughing at me because I squeak when I talk and I can't sing any more.
It's been really cloudy and gloomy the last few days. I haven't been able to get outside for some walks and that makes me sad. I love walking with Ryan and being stuck inside has been tough. It's not a huge deal but it would be nice to do something other then be inside.
Tyler will be studying tonight and every night until Sunday. I know he's really looking forward to being done with those books. I'm jealous of those books because it seems like they get more time with Tyler than Ryan and I do. But he's working really hard and I'm so proud of his commitment to doing well. He deserves a long long break.

This was a good week. We recognized a few cool things this week. It was our 2 year anniversary, the 2 year anniversary of our first trip out to Bella Bella and it was my dad's birthday. We didn't do much actual celebrating but it was a good week non-the-less.
Yesterday, I was shocked when I looked at Ryan. That kid is getting so big. He looked like a giant baby, not the 3 months that he is. We had to move him up a size in sleepers because his feet are kind of busting out the bottoms of the ones we had him in. He's still as cute and sweet as ever just huge. He has a doctor's appointment this week so we will see what the weight on him is. Last time, he was 15 pounds and Tyler weighed him on our scale and he was 17 pounds. I can't believe the size of this boy. I feel like he should be walking already. He's still so much fun. I love making him laugh and he laughs a lot. Those cute little giggles makes everything so much better. This morning he waited patiently for me as I slowly pulled myself out of bed. I looked over at his crib and he was kicking with eyes wide open. He is just the best baby in the whole world and I'm excited to get to share him with our families again.
We just sat down after doing a marathon of dishes. We've put them off as long as we could but it could a little ridiculous. We had no plates, cutlery, bowls, mixing bowls. We used every possible dish we could before we finally had to do dishes. There is just hardly no time to do house chores these days. Tyler is studying his tail off, I'm spending lots of time with Ryan and the chores take last place on our list of important things to do. We are also sort of packing what we can for our trip home.
We learned the other day that someone else will be staying in our place while we are gone. We aren't too thrilled about that. When people come for a short time, they tend not to care much about where they stay. I'm afraid they aren't going to treat this place like it's someone else's home, my home. I know the cleaners will clean up after this person leaves, but we know the cleaners around here don't do a real stand up job. It makes me feel icky thinking about someone else living in my home. One good thing is that we do get this place back when we move out here again. We don't have to move into another apartment. And we have requested that whoever does stay here isn't allowed to bring pets. I don't want a dog walking around my house when we're bringing Kitty back out here. I don't care if there is a dog in anyone else's place but we've steam cleaned our carpets and we don't want to do that again.
Ryan has been sleeping ever since I came back from a nice long walk this morning. I left him in his harness because the velcro that holds him in always wakes him up when I try to get him out of it. And naturally as soon as I typed that out, Ry guy woke up and was fiercely hungry. I'm typing this now about 4 hours after I originally started. He has the best timing.
Our afternoon was pretty awesome. Tyler took a break from studying and we did the dishes and sort of started getting ready for moving back to Alberta. We know we are coming back out here so we don't have to pack everything up. And we are moving into an apartment that is fully furnished with dishes and all that so we don't have to bring any of that stuff home. We are getting more and more comfortable in knowing we will likely be able to fit all we need in the vehicle on the trip home.
We just got another bag of clothes from our friends for little Ry. It's unbelievable how generous those people are. They are basically clothing Ryan for the first year of his life, and if we stay out here for a long time we would likely get more clothes. It's so nice having the next size up in clothes but we have so many clothes for him. We tend to just pick from the top of the pile and therefore the clothes that are on the bottom get forgotten about. Today, we cleaned out his drawers and found so many clothes that he only wore once. We currently have a pile on our coffee table that need to be packed away once we get home for kid number 2. It's unreal how many clothes he is now too big for. My boy is growing so fast.
We will be on our way home in less then 2 weeks now. I can't believe it. These last few weeks have gone so fast. I know that the summer will also go fast and before I know it we will be back out here again. I'm excited for this year. It's bringing so much change and it so fun to think about. Being home for the summer, enjoying camping with family and friends, weddings, Ryan playing with Madi and learning a bunch of new things, getting to meet Baby W #2, Tyler finally doing his MRI practical and not having to study every minute of every day. It's just so much fun to think about. And then we get to come back out here to be with our Bella Bella friends again. It's a fun year ahead of us.

Yesterday, Tyler and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary. Time seems to be going quicker and quicker. That must mean we are having lots of fun which is very true. These past 2 years have really been just the greatest. We've done so many things and this adventure is far from being over. I'm pretty sure it's only getting better.
We didn't do anything special for our big day. Tyler went to work and I was with Ryan all day. We didn't have a fancy meal or go anywhere, we just went about our regular routine and it was a good day.
Today was also uneventful and thats the way I like it. Ryan slept awesome last night, only waking up twice to eat and only being awake for about half an hour at a time. It's always nice to get a decent sleep. I woke up with Tyler and fed Ryan while we watched a pre-playoff sports show. We enjoy watching playoff hockey and being in a town that is so passionate about their Canucks. We mostly enjoy pestering our friends and their kids about their team choice and cheering for any team playing against the Canucks.
Once Tyler was gone to work, I played with Ryan for a little while. I notice that it wasn't raining but that the sky was grey with clouds so it could have rained at any time today. I decided to get going on our walk before it wouldn't be possible. I packed Ryan up and we headed out. I like to mix up my route but it's getting harder to find ways to walk around this place. Oh well, it's still nice to get outside with my little Ry.
We got back home and it was once again time to eat. Ryan fell asleep and slept for about an hour and a half. He woke up right before Tyler came home for lunch. We ate together and Tyler headed back to work again. The afternoon was spent playing and reading with lots of singing. I love to sing to Ryan. It makes him smile and I'm starting to think he's actually laughing at how bad I sound but I don't care. I would do anything to see him smile and hear that sweet little laugh of his. I'm so excited to show our families just how cute he is.
Tyler came home on time and we had plans to go to Jan and Carl's tonight. Tyler sat down to study while I tended to Ryan until it was time to leave. Ryan kind of threw a fit but settled down when Tyler took him from me. It's only a little maddening when I try everything I can for half an hour and then Dad swoops in to save the day and Ry just calms right down.
As it always turns out, Tyler was called into work 5 minutes before we were going to leave for dinner. I went ahead and enjoyed the company of Jan and her crazy kids. It's nice to get out of the house. Tyler took a while but eventually showed up. We had spaghetti and meat sauce It was really nice to get together with them again.
Ryan started getting fussy so we came home and started our night time routine. We showered and walked around with him and when he was calmed down, he finally was able to eat. Tyler just put him down in his crib and we are getting ready for bed. I'm sure we will get there once the hockey highlights are over.

Ryan started getting fussy so we came home and started our night time routine. We showered and walked around with him and when he was calmed down, he finally was able to eat. Tyler just put him down in his crib and we are getting ready for bed. I'm sure we will get there once the hockey highlights are over.

I love Easter weekend. It's so great to have the time to think and reflect about what the holiday is all about. It truly is amazing what was done for each of us.
I also like holiday weekends because that means Tyler gets some time off. He had Friday and today off, but I'm sure he would argue that. He has been on call and that phone has been ringing non stop all weekend. I'm sure he's been at work more then at home. That makes me sad because it's time that we don't get to spend together, or at least, our time spent together is always interrupted by going to work. It is a good thing though. With all the call backs, he's banking time so he can have some money coming in this summer. We are thinking we wont be totally broke this summer and can have a bit of fun.
I've really enjoyed this long weekend. Even though Tyler been back and forth to work and has been studying, it's nice to have him around. When I need to do something and all Ryan wants is to be held, I can hand him over to Tyler while I'm doing whatever it is I need do. During the week, if I have to go to the bathroom or start dinner or whatever, I have to put him down. Most of the time he likes being upright so when I do put him down, he starts to fuss and cry and make a big deal out of it. It makes me sad but with Tyler home, I can hand the little man over and quickly get back without him being upset.
We haven't done a whole lot this weekend, as Tyler's been busy. Even getting out for a walk has been challenging. The weather has been pretty great so we like to be outside but there is still a wind. Ryan has a bit of trouble breathing in the wind so our walks have to be somewhat short when it's really windy out there. But we've enjoyed the beautiful weather as much as we could. Today is overcast. Just one giant cloud hanging over our little village. I don't think it will rain but it's not hot and sunny and since there is no wind, I will be taking Ryan out for a nice long walk. Tyler probably wont join us as he has a lot of studying to do. Right now, Ryan is in bed sleeping, or at least we think he's sleeping. He's making grunting noises so we know he's about to wake up (which is why I'm typing as fast as I can right now). He set a new high bar for amount of sleep. Last night, we all slept for a total of 8 hours in a row. I don't think this will happen again tonight or any time in the near future as yesterday he was awake and kind of grumpy all day so we did expect a good nights sleep. It's almost shocking getting that much sleep. A nice Easter present from my baby.
We went over to our neighbors place last night for dinner. It's the first time we've been invited over there in the 2 years we've been here and it was a lot of fun. It's handy to just walk out your front door and basically step into your neighbors house with all the stuff we brought over. We were asked to bring chairs, and we brought over a chair for Ryan, dessert and a few other things I think. We met a new couple who has been here for a while and it was just so great to get out of the house. It's always nice going places because everyone always wants to hold Ryan. I actually got to eat my food hot last night because one of the girls offered to hold Ry for us. We all laughed a lot and it was just so fun to hang out with new people. Our friend Kendra was there too and it is always good to see her. I'm going to miss this atmosphere when we are gone this summer. It's nice having people all in the same boat to hang out with. We are all here working, experiencing the same ups and downs of the community. It's always great to get together with people.
We came home at around 10:30ish and Ryan was being a little stinker. He wouldn't settle down to eat and I was getting hit and kicked while he got more and more frustrated with whatever was going on with him. He was just grouchy. We decided to do his night time routine even though it was late. Tyler hopped in the shower with him and the warm water always helps him to relax. We bounced him afterwards and he finally settled down enough that he was able to eat. And he fell right asleep. We also headed off to bed and enjoyed 8 hours of sleep. It was amazing.
Right now, Tyler is doing his school work and I'm getting ready to get Ryan out of bed. He's making a lot of noise in his room but every time I go to check up on him, his eyes are closed and he's not moving so I leave him to rest some more. He's still as cute as ever. Man, we love him so so much. He is so much fun, even when he is being grumpy. I'm excited to get him closer to family so every one can enjoy him as much as we do.
We have finally been able to find a place that will rent to us. It's close to the U of A and it's in our price range so my mom and dad helped out by going to check the place out. Apparently it's pretty nice so that's our new home for the summer. It's not as close to the Grey Nun's as we wanted but it's nearly impossible to find a place that will let us rent. Of all the places we inquired about, this is the only place that was a family friendly building that would let us have Ryan. We aren't allowed to have Kitty there which breaks my heart. I already miss her so so much. I'm so sad that I'm not allowed to take care of my own kitty for 6 months out of this year. That is so ... sad.
I've been trying to get outside and walk a lot more with Ryan. I want him to love the outdoors as much as we do and the fresh air is good for us. I found a website that allows you to map a walk you went on. It tells you how far you've gone and it keeps track of a bunch of cool information like elevation, terrain and stuff like that. I started keeping track of my walks last week and I've already walked over 10 miles. I like keeping track of that and it actually motivates me to get out there more. I'm working on walking more and more each week and with us moving to the city, it should be easy to walk farther each day. I use to do a work out dvd but I found that Ryan is too unpredictable to maintain any routine with it. I like to work out at the same time each day but Ryan doesn't do the same thing every day. It was just frustrating me that he wouldn't sleep when I wanted to work out so I stopped working out. I would rather spend time with Ryan when he is awake then have him lay on the ground while I try to get the exercise completed. Walking is a far better work out because I get to do it with Ryan. And I'm loving being outside so much. It's so nice to breathe fresh air every day. And the scenery is not to shabby around here.
I'm slowly getting more and more of my cross stitching done. It's looking really awesome but I wish there was more time in the day to work on it. Or, I wish I had a few extra arms and hands so I could do more then one thing at a time. Oh well. I guess my 2 arms will have to suffice for now.
Yesterday, I read Ryan the Robert Munsch book, "I love you Forever". I remember growing up and laughing at my mom because every time that book was read or even mentioned, it seemed to make her cry. It was always so funny that it evoked that kind of emotion. I knew that the love of a parent was strong and all that, but I never fully understood why that silly book would make someone tear up all the time. But then I tried to read it to Ryan and man oh man, I was a mess. Every time I got to the main part of the book, "I love you forever, I like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be", I just got so choked up that I couldn't finish the sentence. Ryan just looked at me funnily, the same look I'm sure I've given my own mom many times. But you never understand until you go through the same thing. I love Ryan so much and I think I'm finally starting to fully understand my own parents love for me.

Right now, there is a relatively full moon coming over the hills across the channel. It's pretty beautiful. I was walking Ryan to sleep and I had to just stop and watch it. We got a few pictures but I'm sure it's not going to look as awesome as it was in real life. Isn't that always how it goes. You'll just have to believe me when I say it was simply beautiful.
Today was an awesome day. Ryan was up a few times last night but nothing out of the ordinary. Tyler got up with him at around 7 which I really appreciated because even though we were both really tired, he let me sleep for another hour and a half. It's nice to get sleep when I'm up with him in the night. But, as nature would have it, I'm the milk dispenser so I was up soon enough any ways.
Tyler spent the morning studying while I fed and played with Ryan. He's always so giggly and smiley in the morning and I love it. The day was looking so sunny and amazing outside so we laid out our plan for the day. Tyler had to finish studying and then we would go for a walk.
We packed up Ryan and headed out. We went to the town reservoir at the back of town. It was such a great walk. On the way home, we stopped at the store for our groceries. They had most of the food and we were back home before we knew it.
I did the dishes once we unpacked the food. It's been a struggle to keep up with dishes lately and it makes me a little upset. I like having a tidy kitchen. When I'm cooking and all the dishes I are dirty, it's just frustrating. It's no fun having to clean up before making anything but it's my life now. I'm not going to give up my time with Ryan and Tyler to do dishes.
Our afternoon was spent playing with Ryan and spending time together as a family. I have enjoyed this day with Tyler at home. I do love long weekends.
Tyler made the tastiest lasagna for dinner. It was so good and I'm looking forward to lunch tomorrow. We haven't done a whole bunch today but we did enjoy the weather. Everyone was out and about and it's so good to see everyone walking around town.
I think it's off to bed now because Ryan is asleep and I'm tired.

Our Easter plans aren't that exciting. We are making ham and potatoes and also going over to our neighbors house so I'm making cheese cake for dessert. It should be a good day.
