Fishing in the rain

Today was a nice relaxing day. I couldn't really sleep in to much I was dozing from 7:30 till 9:30 when I finally got up. Since Sonja didn't get home until three this morning she slept in later. So until she got up I surf the internet, looking for fishing tips and whatnot. Sonja got up just as I started putting the shopping list together. She made us pancakes for breakfast and then we went to the store to get our groceries. After groceries I went out to the pier to try my luck at some salmon again. It was raining most of the day. I managed to go when it kinda let up for a bit. I caught 4 fish this afternoon. I was using a lure that I didn't know I had. Apparently it works pretty good, just not for catching salmon.
All I caught was this rock fish. I'm not sure what kind it is, I will be searching the web to find out and see if they are keepable. If their that easy to catch and legal limit, easy fishing. We also saw a cruise ship sail past on its way to Alaska. It looked like a smaller one, but a cruise ship none the less.

Since yesterday was my cousin Danielle's 1st birthday yesterday, the party was today. When I came back in from fishing I called to wish her a happy birthday and to talk with the family that has gathered there. I was able to talk to my other cousin Gavin who is starting to talk. He said "Hi Tyler." He's pretty cute. After talking with everybody I looked outside and saw that there was a whale out in the channel. Sonja and I rushed out there to see if we could get some pictures. Unfortunately it was pouring rain again, making it to foggy to see him. I was also to far away to see through the fog with the camera.

I made pizza again for supper. It kinda worked this time, except the dough didn't rise like it should have. But it was at least tasty when it was all cooked up. After supper I went out fishing again as it was low tide, meaning I could stand closer to the deep water of the channel and my cast can get to the big fish zone. I caught another two fish. Both rock fish of sorts, still not sure what exactly they were. I came back in and made some popcorn. We are now watching Rendition, and I will continue my search for the type of fish I caught today.

Picture of the whale. Unfortunately taken from my phone, so not the best quality.

Picture of the whale. You can see the buoy above him. The buoy is probably hundred feet from where I was fishing, making the whale much closer than that. This was also before he waved his tail at me.

That was our day today. More fishing for me tomorrow. Perhaps at the ferry if the weather breaks.

WEEKEND!!!

God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good! And the weekends are good too.

Ahhh, this is my favorite time. Right after work on a Friday evening. This is the point of the weekend where we have the most time to look forward to and it's so exciting. I love the weekend. Especially since I've been so tired all week. It's been pretty bad.

This morning was uneventful, starting with an alarm. I wanted to keep sleeping, as did everyone I imagine. After a breakfast of, you guessed it, honeynut cheerios, we were off to work. I'm kind of excited to go shopping this week because I'm going to get new cereal. We pretty much have only eaten honeynuts and rice krispies since we got here, and I'm a little sick of those kinds. I can only handle so much. They just happen to be the only ones that come two bags in one box, therefore giving us the better deal pricewise. Not sure what I'm going to get, but I will keep you updated with that vital information.

I'm happy to report that for the first time in a long time, I was busy at work today, for a long amount of time. Man, it feels good to actually work hard and get things accomplished. I had some scanning to do, and then we learned that the specialist who was coming out this weekend, missed his ferry and cancelled all his appointments. That meant that I had to call everyone and tell them the bad news. I was busy up until my 3pm break. I find that when I'm actually contributing to something instead of just sitting there, waiting for paper to be passed to me, I'm a happier person. I love working hard. It drags me down when I have nothing to do. It makes me lazy and I don't like that. So, today was a great day because I was busy for a good majority of it.

I got to come home early but still get paid for the full day because my co-workers are leaving tonight on the ferry, and needed to get home ASAP to pack all their stuff. That worked out fine for me because I was getting really anxious to leave. I had received several pictures of whales from Tyler who was fishing out on the rock pier. He said the whale came so close he could see his barnacles. I was jealous as the last time I saw a whale was before June. As soon as I was released from work, I ran down to where Tyler was but the whale had already left. I was sad. Tyler let me cast his fishing rob though, and on my first cast, I got a huge bite. There is no fish to show for it, but it was pretty exciting.

We headed back home and I took a shower. After I got out of the shower, Tyler yelled that he could see the whale again, over by the ferry. And I finally saw myself another whale. He was far away but it's still really neat to see one.

I didn't plan anything for din din tonight so I wasn't sure what we were going to have. Tyler re-heated some leftover spaghetti and meat sauce while I laid with Kitty on the floor in the sun. I accidentally took a quick nap and Tyler woke me up with supper on the table. It was good for being pretty old leftovers.

We are both tired again tonight so there isn't anything planned for tonight. Even though that's how most of our nights go, it's still nice to be able to relax on a Friday night. There's something about not having to go to work the next day that makes it great to do nothing on this beloved night. I'm so excited for sleeping in this week. I think I've been so tired since I worked all Sunday night and haven't been able to recover properly yet. Oh sweet sweet sleep, how I love you!

Happy Birthday to little D. Today, she turned 1. I can't believe it's been one year already!! Happy birthday. We are sorry we can't be there to help celebrate with you guys! Have a great day.

Enjoy tonight!

Strike

Well again it was a long slow day so I'll skip that. I dealt with three patients. I guess it is to be expected when the town is a fishing based community. Most people are out fishing all of the time so they won't be bothered to come to the doctor unless they are really feeling out of it. After work I tried my hand at catching salmon before Sonja came home. I just went at the end of the rock pier. I took out my new rod which I finally got working properly. It used to be jerky when reeling in but I re-strung it and now it works like it should. I was just casting, minding my business when a fish jumped out of the water 10 feet from me. It scared me pretty good because it was so unexpected. Then fish started to jump all around me. I thought for sure I was to catch one then. Suddenly as I was just about done reeling in my line I saw a silver flash swim by slap my hook with his tail. Apparently thats how salmon feed is that they swim through a school of bait fish and swat at them, then they turn around and see which ones are most disoriented or injured and eat them. And thats exactly what this fish did. Except on the swat he swatted my hook out of the water, so when he would have turned around, there would have been nothing there. It was pretty exciting almost having a salmon finally. I will continue the pursuit, trying to figure these fish out. My line started getting twisted so I decided to call it a day. I came home and met Sonja on her way home and we made supper. It was another experimental meal, but this time it was good. We both enjoyed it. I cut up some peaches and sugared them and we had those for dessert. The rest of the night will be relaxing. Sonja is tired and we will probably go to bed early.

One year!

Well, today was another day. Another day to sit around and "work". It was quite the day.

Last night, we went to bed early because we were both super tired. I woke up and went to the bathroom and soon after Tyler went to the bathroom too. A little while later, I woke up again, I thought Kitty was under the bed being loud and keeping me awake. I turned on the light, surprisingly not waking Tyler, to see what she was doing. There was nothing under the bed. I was super confused because I know what I heard.

The alarm rang way too early and we didn't want to get up. But we did. We always do. After the morning routine, we both left for work. And that's pretty much all I have to say about that. Because it was extremely slow, I almost fell asleep many times. It was such a slow day. I was all caught up by 11am, and thats later then it would have been. The internet wasn't working, so I couldn't get my medical system up and running for a long time. When I did, it took a grand total of 20 minutes to get caught up, thus providing me with the rest of the day to day dream and think about what else I would rather be doing. It was a long day for me.

My favorite part of coming home, besides the obvious, is that I get to walk through some rose bushed that line our walkway. They smell so great. It makes the walk home a lot sweeter.

When I cam home, Tyler had already started dinner. I had picked a few recipes this week that were a little strange but that looked good. The one that we had today was a huge flop. It wasn't good at all really. It was good try at something new that didn't turn out...oh well.

Tonight we are both still super tired so there isn't much on our agenda. That's not a huge surprise. Right now, Kitty is laying on my lap and my arm as I'm trying to type this. She is still limping around, which of course makes me so sad. At least now she isn't always hiding in her fort. She is out walking around, so I think thats good for her leg.

I have been celebrating today. One year ago Tyler proposed to me while we were on a picnic in the back area of his parents place. I remember it clearly: it started to rain so we were packing up our picnic. I was ready to go but Tyler needed to put the camera in his backpack. That would be when he actually asked me. There were tears and hugs and it was amazing. I can't believe that it was already a year ago. Lots of things have happened this year - I got 2 pretty stressful jobs that took me away from doing normal human things. I planned our wedding, I found a wedding dress, christmas, more work, I worked a lot in those 6 months. And then the main event for me this year: Our wedding. I love that day. But then we moved away to BC and it's slowed down a lot. This was a crazy year.

Early to bed tonight!

Fish

Well again as you may have guessed it was pretty slow today. It started out busy in the morning but quickly changed gears. I was tired most of the day. I walked to the ferry terminal last night to try salmon fishing. I didn't catch any salmon. Just one tiny rock fish. I already have enough of them in the freezer so it wasn't worth my time to keep another one. I was going to go again tonight but I was to tired after supper. Our plan is to do it on the weekend. Spend most of the day there maybe and actually catch something. I need to figure out what to do right in order to catch one. Perhaps at low tide because then I could stand closer to the deep part to cast.

After work today though I made supper. We had cajun chicken pasta. It was pretty good. After we did dishes and Sonja made some smoothies. We also had some popcorn. We watched Dangerous Catch:After the Catch and are now watching minute to win it. I might go to bed after this because I am very tired.

Sonja wanted me to talk about the cat. She hurt herself somehow last night and has been limping and meowing since then. She has been super mopey too.

Thats all for now.

Hmm, not to sure what to say in this blog. Since I worked all night, today was a sleeping day. And since I worked midnight to 8am this morning, nothing happened last night either.

Well, last night, as mentioned, was uneventful. I arrived at work at 12:00am and quickly set up shop. I brought a cross-stitching project and opened up Tyler's computer. Throughout the night, I watched 3 movies. Sex and the City 2, Valentines Day, and I love you, Man. Then I watched a few episodes of The Simpsons. It was kind of a stupid way to spend the night, watching tv all night. I don't like that, but it really makes the time go by without me getting tired.

As I left the detachment at 8am, the sun seemed so bright. It hurt my eyes and I could barely open them. I met up with Tyler on my way home. He was going to work. After a hug and a kiss, I entered out home and eat a little cereal before heading to bed. Surprisingly, I couldn't sleep right away. I had to relax myself and I didn't actually get to sleep until probably around 9.

I woke up again at 12:15 to find Tyler laying next to me. It was great to see him again, but I fell asleep again right away. The next time I woke up, Tyler was coming home from work. It was 4pm and I slept all day. That's going to bite me in the butt later tonight as I wont be able to sleep.

I got out of bed and still felt so tired. We did the dishes, which hadn't been done all weekend. We also made chicken burgers for dinner. Tyler is fishing down at the ferry terminal and I got a text from him saying he had caught something but wasn't sure what it was. We will both go out tomorrow. I wasn't up for joining him today as I'm still about to fall asleep.

Our night doesn't look super thrilling. Depending on what time Tyler comes home, I will be sitting here by myself, just enjoying Kitty and my cross-stitching project.

There is a 2 week countdown to the end of my job at the clinic. My last day is the last day in August. There isn't any other job opportunities out here, so I have already thought out my days to come. But that is in 2 weeks. That can wait.

Anyway, Monday is over. Who's ready for Tuesday?

Also, what is pretty cool... Eva is about to finish up her schooling. She texted me and said she only has 3 more shifts as a student. Good job Eva!!! Love you tons!

Hot Again

So it was blazing hot again today. Sonja came home this morning just after 8 this morning. I then went to work and Sonja went to bed. I came home and made some breakfast. Just as I finished up I got called back to work. I needed to do an x ray on a woman. I came home again and sat in the hammock for an hour or so. I got hungry and made a chicken burger for lunch. Sonja was still asleep. I went back out to the hammock to spend more time in the sun. It was a relaxing day for me while I waited for Sonja to wake up. After she got up she made herself some pancakes and then we went to the store to finish shopping as the ferry came in this morning. We got our milk, yogurt and a few other things. We came back and tried to cool down. We bought some ice cream so we had a bowl. It was pretty good, for being a no name brand. We didn't really do anything all day. Sonja was still tired so she took a nap this afternoon and I watched some TV.

It was really foggy and smokey today. I guess all of the fires on the mainland are making their way out here. The fish were also jumping a lot today. All day I would hear a splash and see fish jump multiple times.

Not to much for the rest of the night. Sonja goes back to work at the RCMP at midnight and will be there until 8.
