I'm an aunt!!!

So, my sister had her baby yesterday afternoon.  Little Madison was born just after 5:30pm and she is pretty cute.  I only know from pictures.  The only sad part about her being born is that I don't get to meet her for a few weeks.  It's what makes being out here pretty tough some times.  I have always hated missing out on fun family events and meeting this baby falls into that category.  Oh well, Christmas will be extra special this year.

I came home from work last night at about 2:30am and went straight to bed.  I wanted to sleep in all day today as it is my last day of not working a steady job.  I really didn't get that wish.  I woke up when Tyler got out of bed and just couldn't fall back asleep.  It may have been because I wanted to see if there were any pictures of my new niece in my emails.  There were a few.  I got out of bed and Tyler soon came home.

And we had a fantastic day together, doing what can only be described as nothing.  We ate food when we were hungry.  We watched tv when we were super bored.  We looked for pictures most of the time.  It was a great day with my beloved husband.

We made some supper and watched the news.  We were going over to our friends place to play our game, Phase 10.  It's just a great game to play with friends because it doesn't take a lot of concentration and we have a ton of fun with those 2 women.  We just got home from an evening full of fruit leather and gold fish.  I won the first game and Kendra won the second.

We had to put Kitty back in her cone because she was getting too snooty for us.  With it off, she didn't hang out with us at all today.  For the past few weeks, when her cone was on, she would be all over us wanting and needing attention.  Today, she was too good to cuddle.  Silly little girl.

I'm hoping to see lots of pictures of the new baby, but I guess the parents might be a little busy.

I start my new job tomorrow.  It should be interesting.  I will be blogging again tomorrow so look forward to reading all about that.

Rainy again

Today was a kind of lazy day for us. I woke up around 8:30 and got out of bed. I wasn't called in and got to wake up on my own terms which is always nice. I had to go into work around 11 for an x-ray. The most of my morning was catching up on the Oilers including watching the highlights that we missed from last nights game.

I came back from work and spent the day relaxing watching some TV. I had to go back to work in the afternoon to get a transfusion ready for a patient. After that was done I came home and continued the relaxation that was our day. I was called back to work shortly after 5. It was a callback that just wouldn't quit. It took me 2 and a half hours until I was able to finish it up and come home. Just as I was leaving the hospital I got a text from Sonja saying that she was called to work at the RCMP. So I came home and have just been watching TV. I have to go to work again in the morning so it is looking like a good paying weekend for me.

Potlatch

Today started out as any other.  It was dark and I was tired.  I slept pretty good last night and didn't wake up at all until 5 minutes before the alarm was to go off.  Good sleep, but I was still wanting more.  I got up anyway and had a shower.  I continued my morning routine with cereal and Sportscentre to watch the highlights from last nights games.  Sonja staggered out of bed still half asleep and joined me before I took of to work.

Work was slow.  The clinic was closed and there was only one doctor who was actually the on call doctor so he wasn't seeing patients.  Strangely the day went by pretty quick which was nice.

I came home and we went to the store to pick up our groceries for next week.  Sonja made the list while I was at work.  It was nice to go tonight because the store was still mostly stocked and we got everything we needed.  We came home and cooked up some chicken burgers because they are quick and delicious.  We were planning on turkey noodle soup, but didn't have anything to put in the soup but chicken burgers are a nice back up plan.

There was a potlatch going on tonight.  Actually it started this morning but we didn't go until tonight.  We didn't know when it actually started so we decided to go at 6:30, after the first period of the Oilers game tonight.  We thought that everything would be underway and we would be able to sneak in and just observe from a distance.  So we watched the first period and it was great.  The Oilers scored the first goal early.  It was Taylor Hall's  second goal.  Unfortunately it was tied up shortly after that.  Near the end of the period the Oilers scored three more goals in 1:08 of each other.  It was tough to leave the game knowing that they were up 4-1.  But we did anyway and went to the potlatch.  We got there and saw some people that we knew and went to talk to them.  They hadn't even started to eat.  So so much for just sneaking in.  We were corralled and told to get something to eat.  Lots of fish.  Salmon, halibut, other fish and prawns (a type of shrimp).  It was good.  I didn't take much as we had just eaten.

After supper they started some dancing and gift giving.  It was really cool.  The 'costumes' (not real costumes as in halloween but traditional ceremonial clothing) we cool, complete with bells, feathers, cedar bark hats and masks.  There were tradition designs everywhere, and all the community members had vests with a design on the back, kinda like their family crests.  There was drumming and singing.  The cool drum was a hollowed out log that a bunch of people were sitting around and drumming loudly. It made a very cool sound.  It would be very intimidating if it was on a war canoe or something.  There were individual family dances where a group would come out and perform and then the next dance a different group would come out.  It would have been cool if we had someone who was telling us what the dances meant because we really couldn't understand the speaker when he explained them.  The sound was a little to tinny to completely make out everything.

Regardless it was really cool and I would like to go to another one someday.  We came home and found the the Oilers had won the game 7 -4.  Good way to break out of their 6 game losing streak, especially since it came against last years cup winning team.  Overall a pretty good day.  I am excited to go to bed though.  Time to sleep in tomorrow morning.

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Well, today is was the second last day off for me.  I'm sure you all feel very sorry for me :)  I start on Monday and I'm still so excited.  Still nervous as I have no idea what the job entails, but I'm looking forward to it.

Today started out early.  I woke up at 7am because Kitty was racing around being a little turkey.  I think she wanted me to get up because she was scratching on the bed, climbing on me, talking to me, just being a genuine turkey.

I got up and ate my tasty breakfast of multigrain Cheerios and hung out with Tyler before he had to go to work.  He left and I surfed the internet for a little bit, summing up the energy to start my work out.  I played DDR for about 20 minutes before I just wanted to stop.

I put a jacket on and went for a walk.  It was a cold crisp morning and it was nice to get out there.  I walked around half the town and was back home in 20 minutes.  I was cold.

Tyler came home and we enjoyed some lunch.  I had leftovers from last nights rice dish and Tyler had the last piece of lasagna.  While he was microwaving it, we heard a pop.  When we looked in the microwave, the plate had broke clean in half.  It was a little shocking as these are kind of new plates that never have done that before.  So, now we are down a plate.  Tyler still ate the lasagna, which I told him he shouldn't.  I was afraid of shards, but he is fine.

Tyler left for work again and I played DDR again.  Another hour down and I was soon clean and spending my afternoon with the cross-stitch.  I'm getting close to finishing this one, so that's fun for me.

Tyler came home and immediately looked for the hockey game on the internet.  He found a feed and we were able to watch the entire game with only minor annoyances.  The Oilers lost, but it was a good and fun game to watch.

We had home made Mac and Cheese.  It was really good.  I have a ton of dishes to do tomorrow and most of them have baked on food.  They are soaking so hopefully they wont be to much of a pain tomorrow.

Our evening was spent cross-stitching, watching the game, surfing the internet and Tyler doing his version of a craft.

One more day off for me and then I turn into the rest of you guys.

It's Sonja here.  If anyone keeps track, we take turns on who writes the blog.  But today, I'm starting this one out.

I got some pretty awesome news today.  I first got a call but it wasn't the official yes/no call I was expecting.  The guy said that the number I provided for one of my references didn't reach the right person.  I quickly gave him the right number and kind of knew right then and there that I was in a good place if they were looking at my references.  I waited some more and more time went by.  I got the second call in the afternoon.  They offered me a part time position at the Head Start program and I accepted, of course.  One of the cool things about this job is that it is just being established.  Little has been planned regarding the details of it, and as a part of the team, I'd get to help out.  I'm sure the bigger details have been figured out.  It's fun to be part of something from the start and I'm looking forward to this.  I'm a little nervous, only because I have no idea what to expect.  I start Monday at 9am.    And now, on to Tyler's day:

My day wasn't as exciting.  However it started out busy today at work.  It was nice because the morning flew by for me and it was suddenly time for lunch.  I came home and we had leftover lasagna for lunch.  The afternoon slowed down for me though.  I spent the rest of the day waiting for some business.  4 o'clock finally rolled around and it was time to come home.  I helped Sonja make supper.  We tried a new recipe that I thought was really good.

We watched Sonja's favorite show today: America's Next Top Model.  Once that was over we watched the news and are now watching Anchorman.  No real other plans for tonight, except to finish the popcorn that we made for the movie.

No news yet!

So, lets just get this over with:  I didn't get a call today regarding the job I interviewed for.  I don't know if that means I didn't get it, or they are taking more time to decide who to hire.  Either way, my hopes aren't high.

My day was excellent.  I slept well, but didn't want to get out of bed right away this morning.  I didn't even hear Tyler get out of bed.  Once I did get up, I ate my tasty Multigrain Cheerio's and surfed the internet for a bit.

I decided right away that I was going to go for a walk after breakfast.  The weather wasn't great but it wasn't raining so I had to get out there.  I grabbed a butter container to put any treasures I may find and I headed out.  I didn't have to walk far before I started picking up some pretty cool pieces of glass.  It's mostly just smashed alcohol bottles but the glass is in all sorts of designs.  I don't really know what I want to do with all of it yet.  I could put it in some dreamcatchers or make something else.  I just don't know.

I didn't have to walk very far before my container, plus pockets and one hand was full of glass.  It was nice to be outside.  I still love the beach and the view so it was great to get out and enjoy it again.  I came home to find that an hour had gone past.  I started cleaning my glass and made Tyler's lunch.

I was also texting with Amy pretty much all day.  It keeps me busy and makes me feel like I'm closer to home.  I like it!

I worked on a cross-stitch most of the afternoon.  I was pretty cold so I cranked the heat and curled up under 2 blankets.  It wasn't to long before it was super hot but I didn't notice until Tyler came home and mentioned it was like a sauna in our home.

I started on dinner.  We had chicken strips and fries.  While I was preparing the meal, Tyler went and mailed a letter, paid the internet bill and bought the fries.  It was a pretty tasty meal.  If Tyler wouldn't have brought home the fries, it would have been a pretty boring din din.

Our evening has been pretty awesome.  We watched a bit of news, and Tyler tried to watch the Oiler game online.  It worked for a little while but was struggling, so we turned it off.  Nothing is on tv so that's off.  Tyler is working on his own project right now, and it involves the computer and the paint program.  I don't really know what he is doing, but it keeps him busy so that's really all that matters.

I'm thinking we will be going to bed early tonight because we are both kind of tired.

Kitty was out of her cone for a bit today and I think she loved it.  She is pretty sad with it on.  It makes me sad.  She just lays around all day, walks on me and lays on me.  I love this Kitty.  She is just such a sweetie pie.

It was a great day and I look forward to another awesome day tomorrow!

Rain again

Well today started out dark.  The sun doesn't come over the mountains until close to eight so it is very dark still when I get up at 7:45.  I can't usually see anything in the house.  But I got up anyway and hopped into the shower.  I had Cheerio's for breakfast and watched some sports highlights before heading off to work.

Unfortunately for everyone reading I seriously did nothing today.  I took blood from all of two people.  Thats it.  So no stories ripped from the scripts of your favorite hospital TV shows.

I came home for supper and helped Sonja make it.  We had lasagna for supper and it turned out awesome.  We also did the dishes while we were waiting for it to cook.

After supper we watched last nights episode of Dexter.  It was pretty good.  We're still not sure where this season is going to go but we'll find out soon hopefully.  Right now we are watching Canada's Worst Drivers.  The driving car is a brand new Camaro.  I feel bad for the car because it didn't even last the first driver before it needed to make an appointment with a body shop.

Sorry again about the short blog, but days are slow when you work in a hospital that serves a community of 1200.

Oh yeah, it started out sunny today, but was shortly raining again.  It's supposed to clear up again later this week.

In the air tonight

Today was a great Sunday.  It didn't start with me getting to sleep in late, but that just means I got to enjoy most of the wonderful day.

The sun was so bright this morning, that we actually had to close the blinds to see each other.  I enjoyed a breakfast of multigrain cheerios and I don't think Tyler ate more then a banana.  It was such a great day today that we decided to go for a walk along the beach to collect more branches for my new hobby of dreamcatcher making.

The tide was starting to come up, so we headed out south on the shore.  We found a few good branches but mostly there wasn't anything out there.  I'm hoping that the tide will bring in something good for me to use. As we walked along the shore, we started to pick up some sea glass.  Sea glass is pretty much just old broken bottles and other glass things that the ocean has worn down.  There are some really cool looking pieces and many different colors.  I'm looking forward to using them some how in one of my projects.

We headed back home for lunch and relaxed on the couch.  We also watched a bit of a hockey game.  It was a relaxing afternoon.  Tyler spent some time at work and during that time, I worked out.  Once Tyler got home, we did the dishes, showered and figured out what to do for the rest of the day.

We ate another delicious dinner of rice and salmon.  We are so spoiled out here but mostly Kitty is the spoiled one.  We have started feeding her salmon too.  We cut some up and put it in her bowl, but she didn't eat any until today.  I was holding her and kind of force feeding her.  After a while, she actually really enjoyed it.

We went for a walk around the town because it was a glorious day all day long.  We walked for about half an hour before my stomach starting rejecting something.  My guess is that it was yesterday's meal.  Eating at the local restaurant always makes me feel gross for a few days after.  We came home and Tyler did a bit of surfing and I worked on my cross-stitch.  It's been a really great day today.

I find out in 2 days if I got that job.  I'm pretty excited to get that call.  Also, Tyler pointed out that it is 2 months until Christmas.  Horray!!  That also means we will be home again soon.  I can't wait!

Sunshine

Today was a good day.  I woke up and the sun was shining over the mountains and into our living room.  I woke up before Sonja again because I couldn't sleep anymore.  I got out of bed and surfed the internet for a bit while I waited for Sonja to get up.  She woke up shortly after and we quickly made the shopping list for the week and bought our food.  We came home and put them away.  Sonja was going out to learn how to make dream catchers.  She went with a couple people up to the school.  I stayed home because I am not crafty so I stayed home and watched Batman Begins.

I made a sandwich for lunch.  Sonja came home around 1:30 and showed me her new dreamcatcher.  She did a good job and it looks pretty cool.  After the movie was over we watched the sequel, The Dark Knight.  It is by far my favorite movie and also some of my favorite parts of our honeymoon.  On our honeymoon we went to the Warner Bros. studio and did a tour there.  One the tour we got to see the Batmobile used in the movie and some other props like costumes and the like.  So that all just adds to The Dark Knight being my favorite movie.

After the movie Sonja wanted to look for some stick to make some more dream catchers.  So we went to the beach where the tide had left a fresh deposit of drift wood.  We found some acceptable sticks and brought them back to our place.  We then left for supper as we declared tonight date night.  So we went to the restaurant and had a supper out.  It was pretty good and we had some leftovers to bring home.  The rest of our date involves watching the Oilers game.  They are playing San Jose and its about to start. Sonja is also working on another dreamcatcher.

Interview day

Well, last night I had to go work a shift at the RCMP again.  I was so tired and really didn't want to go, but I packed a supper and headed out.  I stopped by to see Tyler because I wouldn't get to hang out with him at night.  I arrived at work and received very good news.  Both prisoners were being released and I would get to go home early.  It's great going home early, but I had to clean both cells and that is never a nice job to have.  But after only 2 short hours I got to come home.  I surprised Ty.  It was fun.

I then got to talk to Ranita.  We talked wedding details and it was so much fun.  I miss that girl, and all the rest of my friends.  It's still a little hard to hear about how much fun they all have together, but I do enjoy it.  It's always nice to talk to good friends :)

And that brings me to today.  I didn't sleep well last night, so getting out of bed this morning was a little tough.  Once I made my way to the breakfast cereals (and the orangoutangs and the fruit bats..) I sat on the couch for a little while while my body woke up.  Then I worked out, showered and got ready for the rest of the day.  I had to figure out what I wanted to where for my interview and when we moved out here, I didn't anticipate having to dress fancy out here.  I did find something that could pass as fancyish so that was good.

Ty came home for lunch and we enjoyed that together.  I left for my interview and it was blowing and raining and not very nice out.  I probably looked like something the cat dragged in by the time I got to the building.  I waited a little bit before they came and got me and then it was time for my interview.

I was a little nervous as I haven't been in an interview for over a year and a bit.  They asked me some pretty regular questions and I answered most of them intelligently.  I feel really good about the interview.  There were about 20 people who applied for the jobs, and they short listed it to 12.  I was one of those 12 which feels like I might have a chance at actually getting one of the jobs.  I was interviewed by someone who knows my aunt and uncle who live in Hay River, but I don't know if that helped anything.  I don't know what my chances are at getting this job, but I did my best and that's all I care about.  What's pretty cool about this job is that the whole program it's a part of, it just starting.  If I get hired, I would a part of the building and developing of this program and that's pretty cool.  Who knows what will happen.  I find out on Tuesday.

I came home and was freezing cold.  I cranked the heat up and relaxed.  Once I was warm enough I fell asleep on the couch.  I was tired so it felt good to take a little nap.  I woke up when Tyler came home from work.  And then we made the most wonderful meal we've had in a long time.  We has salmon with rice.  The salmon had oil, salt and pepper on it.  We thought it would be pretty bland but we cooked it up anyway.  And it was amazing.  We both are liking fish a lot more and thats good considering we have a freezer full of it.  Kitty, however, still wont eat fresh salmon.  Tyler cut her some scraps from our meal but she stuck her nose up at that.

And since it wasn't raining after dinner, we finally went for a walk.  And that was also amazing.  We haven't gone for a walk in forever it seems and it felt really great to get out there again.  It got dark pretty fast so we came home.

We have had to recone Kitty today.  Her wounds aren't healing at all so she is currently laying on the back of the couch, trying to make us feel sorry for her.  She gets so pathetic with that cone on.  It's really sad but we want her to heal all the way so it will be on for a while now.  She is in the cone/harness rig so she really hates us right now.

I am super tired tonight, so it might be an early bed time for me.  Tyler has to go to work later tonight so I'm not sure when he will go to bed.  Our night isn't going to be filled with much.

Tomorrow, I'm going to the school to make a dreamcatcher.  I'm pretty excited about it, except that it means I wont be able to just sleep as long as I want in the morning.  I guess I can cope with that.  It should be pretty cool.

Enjoy the night and evening.

Clear skies

Today something different happened.  It wasn't raining this morning.  It actually wasn't raining all day.  And still isn't.

Sonja got up this morning with me and made us breakfast.  We had pancakes that were left over from the weekend.  I eventually went to work.  Nothing really happened.  There were spurts of work with long bits of nothing happening.  But there is one more day until the weekend.  I am pretty tired this week.  I haven't been able to sleep to well this week.

I came home for lunch and had a couple of hot dogs.  The afternoon went by pretty slow.  I took an early lunch so the afternoon was extended.  12:30 to 5 was a long stretch.  I came home finally and Sonja had already gone to work at the RCMP.  So I warmed up another hot dog for a quick bite.  I had to go back just before 6 to unhook a patient from the Holter monitor I set him up for yesterday.

When I came home I found that Sonja had got off from the RCMP as the prisoners she was guarding were released.  I spent some time looking for a live feed of the Oilers game tonight, but I am glad I didn't find one because they are losing 3-1 at the end of the second.  But my other favorite show is on tonight.  The Office.  That is on shortly and there is a bowl of popcorn with my name on it.

Early Post

Well, this is probably the earliest I will ever post a blog and I am doing it because I am going to work at 4 and I am taking the computer and Tyler's phone, meaning he has no way to post a blog later in the evening.

Something super exciting happened to my best friend last night.  She got engaged and I couldn't be happier for her.  I called her last night and we will talk again tonight while I'm at work.  I'm so excited for her.

Any way, last night was an interesting night for us.  Tyler was getting the place ready for pen hockey, meaning he was closing all the doors so we don't loose the ball.  Our spare room always locks on us and we've only been locked out once before, but we were saved when Tyler realized the window was open so he broke in that way.  Last night, different story.  Tyler closed the door and of course it was locked.  We don't have a key, so he searched the internet for ways to open a locked door.  He felt pretty stupid, but it could have happened to either of us.  At this time, Kitty decided she really needed to get into her room and started meowing a lot and made Tyler feel even worse about locking her out.  We were lucky that she wasn't in there.  So the door remained locked all night.  We were afraid Kitty would keep us up all night because she didn't have her own room to sleep in, but she's been pretty good the past few days.  She likes to sleep on our dresser in all the clothes that pile up there.

This morning came to quickly and soon Tyler was kissing me goodbye before he headed off to work.  I got out of bed and ate some breakfast.  Corn flakes.  I'm getting a little sick of them but I'm almost done with this bag, and I know what kind of cereal I am getting next.  It's a little silly, but I seriously couldn't get multigrain cheerios out of my head last night.  I think it's a sign that I need to eat them.  They are pretty good too so that helps.

I did my work out and showered, and got Tyler's lunch ready.  Tyler came home with the key to the spare room and all was saved.  I would have thought that Kitty would be in there all day, but she is sleeping right beside me.  We ate lunch together and Tyler had to go back to work.

My afternoon isn't going to be filled with much, as I'm just waiting to go to work.  I work till midnight tonight.  I usually bring the computer because it gets pretty boring at the detachment.  But Tyler is like a lost sheep without the internet so I feel a little bad also taking his phone.  Since his phone is the only one that our long distance is on, I have to take it so Ranita can call me and we can talk wedding plans all night.  I'm pretty excited for her!

No plans for the afternoon.  I'll find a documentary to watch and do some cross-stitching.

It isn't raining at the moment and it's been pretty dryish most of the day.  It's cloudy and overcast but the sky has closed it's doors for now and I am grateful.  It's been a good day.

I just got a phone call from the Health Center, the place I applied for a job, and I got an interview for Friday at 1:30.  Wish me luck!

Today was a pretty good day.  It was decently busy all day which is handy.  I had x-rays to do in the morning and blood work, as well as a few more x-rays in the afternoon.  For lunch I came home to the smell of chicken burgers cooking.  I know it seems like we eat them all the time, and we do but they are just so good.  So I filled up on those before going back to work.

The afternoon was alright.  It went by pretty quickly which was nice.  I came home at five to find that supper was ready.  We had spicy chicken spaghetti.  After cleaning up after supper, Sonja made some chocolate pudding.

It is still raining out and there is a rainfall warning for the central coast.  At least the wind has stopped for now.  No plans for the night.  Sonja was wanting to watch Glee tonight, but it wasn't on.  We may play some pen hockey.

Sorry about the short, boring blog.

Raining, Raining, Raining

Well, today it was nothing but rain and gloom outside.  It's not the nicest weather to wake up to but I will have to get use to it.  And I am, a little.  There was a lot of fog through out the day too.  It wasn't the greatest day in that sense.

We both got really good rests last night too.  And that hasn't happened in a long time so we were grateful.  Tyler went off to work and I started on the dishes.  There weren't that many but it's still a job I'm not a huge fan of.

I then did my work out and showered.  I had to go back to the grocery store to pick up my weekly yogurt tubs.  Tyler came home shortly after I got home and we enjoyed lunch together.  I reheated some Classy Turkey for Tyler and I had eaten a smoothie a little before.  It was a good lunch.

Ty went back to work the rest of the day away while I stayed home and cross-stitched while watching a documentary.  I'm kind of on a documentary kick and today I watched one about the American health system.  It was interesting and made me very thankful for being Canadian.  It was informative and I'm excited about what I'm going to learn tomorrow.

I also texted with Amy some more.  Only a few more weeks till I have a niece or nephew.  Of course I'm excited, but I'm also disappointed that I don't get to see it right away.  I wish I could but I guess I can wait till Christmas.  It will still be small.

I'm not feeling super well right now, and I kind of think it has to do with the crappy weather.  I hope tomorrow it clears up a bit, then Ty and I can go for a walk.

Tonight, we aren't going to do much.  I plan on going to be kind of early.  I'm just tired which is silly because I haven't done much all day.  I really hope tomorrow is a sunny day!!

On a brighter note, Kitty has been cone free most of the day.  Since she always gets her cone off, Tyler has engineered a way to make sure she can't slip it off.  Ty has put Kitty's harness through the holes of the cone and then attached the body part of the harness around her body.  And it works perfectly.  She looks so sad though, so I had to take it off.  I hope that made sense because it works like a charm.

Enjoy your Monday nights!

Weekend end

Well today was the last day of the weekend.  I woke up around 9 and started the day.  I didn't do to much.  Just waited for Sonja to wake up.  I surfed the internet, looking for a Christmas present for Sonja.  Nothing yet.  I'll have to actually go to a real store to get something.

Sonja eventually woke up a little after ten.  We didn't do anything.  The weather turned for the worse so we were also unable to go out for a walk.  The wind is blowing and is cold, fresh off the ocean.  So we stayed in again and watched TV.  I made breakfast of pancakes and they were really really good today.  Better than others.

There were some whole trees that were uprooted in the wind the last couple of days and were floating up the channel.  It was cool to see that.  The day continued uneventfully until supper when we had classy chicken, but instead of chicken we used turkey leftovers.  It turned out alright.  There was to much meat so all the juices didn't get to mix with all of the meat.

No plans for the rest of the night.  We will hopefully watch Monsters Inc.

Saturday

Today is the best day of the week.  You can do whatever you want and no one can judge you for sleeping in late.

And that's how my day started.  I did wake up a few times during the night, due to a certain Miss. Kitty, but otherwise it was a restful night.  Kitty was meowing a ton in the morning, around 8:00 (Oilers just scored..  it was exciting) so I got up and fed her.  And then went straight back to bed.  I was super tired.  I think I'm also tired on Saturdays because I know I don't need to do anything.  I allow myself to sleep in, so I do.  Tyler got out of bed at some point, but I was sleeping so I didn't notice.

I got out of bed too and soon our day was in session.  We worked on our weekly menu, and actually Tyler did most of the work on that so I'm not entirely sure what I'm cooking this week.  It should add a bit of excitement to the daily routine.

We then went shopping.  I will have to go back on Monday to pick up a few things that weren't there today.  We got bread and milk half price, which pretty much means we should eat/drink it as soon as possible.  We walked home and unloaded the foods.  It was a significantly less money this week for our groceries so that was nice.

And the rest of the day was spent pretty much waiting for the Oiler game to start.  It wasn't a very thrilling day in any sense, but it was a good day.  I worked out at some point while Tyler did the dishes.  Tyler cooked dinner which was the ever so tasty boiled hot dogs.  It was really good.  I worked on a cross stitch most of the day and I'm not really sure what Tyler did, but I'm sure it was as productive as my day.  He was probably on the interweb reading all about tonight's game.

I'm usually a big mess when it comes to watching Oiler games.  It's a little embarrassing because I hardly breathe and I kind of scream a lot.  Good thing Tyler already loves me for how I am or else I could be in trouble.  I need to go take a walk now because it's the first intermission.

Any way, this is our night.  We hope the Oilers play well and win tonight because that is always awesome.  No real plans for tomorrow because we don't know what the weather will be like.  We have been planning on going for a walk but it just hasn't played out like that yet.

Kitty has leaned a new trick.  She is almost never in her cone any more because she always takes it off.  She has figured out how to take it off and now we just leave it off her most of the time.  She is a smart girl and I love it that she doesn't scratch all the time.  She is acting like a real kitty now because she doesn't have her cone.  I love it.

Tyler just polished off a whole bag of his favorite Saturday night snack food - the Hawkins Cheezie.  I had a few but I'm looking forward to a third period bowl of popcorn.

It was a great day!

Waiting for the weekend

Well today is the day that we have been waiting for all week.  It's Friday.  I am glad as it seems like its been a long week, even though it was short because of the long weekend.  I am still tired even though it was a shorter week.  Today started out busy for me, so I was thinking the pace would keep up and the day would fly by.  I was wrong.  It came to a screeching stop and all I did the rest of the day is a pregnancy test and took a little bit of blood.

For lunch I came home and had left over pizza from last night.  Again it was good and super filling.  I had probably half of the whole pizza.  So I was full for the rest of the day.  It was a lot of pizza.  I tasted it the rest of the day at work.  The afternoon went by as slow as you would expect a rainy Friday to go.

After work I came home and was still full from lunch so I didn't feel like eating to much for supper, so I didn't.  Sonja ate the leftover alfredo from earlier in the week.  We have spent the afternoon and evening relaxing, watching TV and Sonja has been cross-stitching.  We played a few rounds of dutch blitz with each other.  It was pretty slow with just two of us playing.

I got a call from home.  It was some sad news, mom and dad had to put down our dog Casey today.  So pretty tough time home on the farm.

Rain is forecasted for the next week, so we'll see what happens with that.  No plans set in motion yet for the weekend.  If it clears up a bit we may go for a walk.

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Well, last night we went to bed at about 9pm.  I was so tired from only getting a few hours of sleep during the day and Tyler always seems to be tired.  I fell asleep right away, but was woke up at about 1am.  Not because of Kitty, but just because.  I seemed to be awake the rest of the night. I know that's not totally true, but I woke up all the time so it didn't seem like a smooth sleeping night.  I did wake up and almost had a heart attack.  I looked outside and there was a shadow in the window that looked like a person.  It was terrifying.  I couldn't move to wake Tyler up because I was so scared.  Kitty was even going crazy, which is why I woke up in the first place.  I was so freaked out.  And then it moved.  It was another cat that was walking on the railing.  I couldn't sleep for the next little while.

Tyler got out of bed in the morning and I thought I could sleep for another 4 hours.  But I didn't want to sleep in though, so I got out of bed at 7:15am.  It was actually really nice to get out of bed earlier then usual.  The day felt longer.  I felt like I had a lot of stuff to do today, mainly because there was a huge pile of dishes.  I'm not sure how that many dishes piled up in just one day, but it happens.

Once Tyler left for work in the morning, I got right to the dishes.  It's super nice to finish those up early in the day because it's not a nice or fun job to do.  I worked out right after dishes.  Today was triceps, back and shoulder day and it was a tough work out, but I made it through.  It felt great.

I showered and waited for Tyler to get home from work.  I made a smoothie and Tyler had some chicken burgers.

Kitty has been taking her own cone off, starting with last night and a few times during the day.  So, she has scratched her ear open, but actually has been doing alright with it off.  Its nice to see her as a regular kitty.

I made some pizza for din din.  Tyler says it's pretty great pizza, and it was really awesome tonight.  After we cleaned up at bit, we didn't do much.  I was planning on going for a walk tonight.  It's been raining for the past 3 weeks, so we haven't been out much and this morning's weather looked great.  There were clouds and it looked a little gloomy but it wasn't raining.  And that's all that matters.  But as the day went on, it started raining, then it stopped.  But then it started a few more times and it's still raining.  We think it's winter out here because it doesn't seem to want to be nice outside.  It's going to be a long winter if this is all the weather does.

We were really upset about having to miss most of the hockey games this season, but due to Tyler's great mind, we were able to watch the game on the internet.  We also think we will be able to watch most of the games.  Tyler searched the web for sites from Minnesota that played the game and we were able to watch it.  Brilliant!!

There was the most amazing rainbow outside.  We could actually see every color so vividly and it was breathtaking.  It was so bright and cool.  I can't believe I got to see that.  Ty took a picture but said it didn't really turn out that great.

There was another cat outside during the day, and Kitty was going slightly crazy over it.  She was making a really funny meow.  I love that kitty so so much.

On a side note, it's been one year since my first shift at the RCMP.  How strange how fast a year goes!!  Crazy!

Early Sleep

Last night I went to bed early because I was tired.  It felt good to get a good long sleep.  I was only woken up once and it was still early in the night.  Maybe it is Sonja's fault the the cat is restless.  Makes the cat go crazy or something.  Or she could finally be growing up.

I woke up and got ready for work.  I wasn't as tired today so that was a nice change.  After breakfast I brushed my teeth and made my way across the parking lot to work.  Again it was slow most of the morning and didn't pick up until the afternoon. I came home for lunch and Sonja was still sleeping.  She wanted me to wake her up, but I didn't because she was probably only asleep for three hours.  I warmed up some turkey and gravy and had a filling lunch.  After going back to work it picked up a bit.  Nothing exciting or different, just some stuff to do.

I came home and tried taking a short nap while Sonja made supper.  That wasn't possible because she also decided to play catch with the cat.  It was still nice to lay down and relax.  We had garlic bread and pasta and alfredo sauce.  It was alright.  Alfredo isn't my favorite.  If it was it would have been great.

We have spent the rest of the night relaxing as we are both now tired and have been watching hockey games that don't matter to us.

Today it finally stopped raining for most of the day.  Things were starting to dry out.  Until after supper.  It started up  again, but at least the wind is done.  It's supposed to clear up for the weekend so we'll see how that goes.

Tuesday

So, I went to the RCMP last night and it was an alright night of work.  This guest has been in there for a while, so he knows that he has to cooperate with us guards to make his stay a little nicer.  I put a movie on for him while I watched my own and the night kind of flew by.  I had a good night and soon I was home safe and sound.  I am always a little freaked out walking home at midnight.  I know it's only a 5 second walk but its super dark and quiet and I have seen too many scary movies.  I always look over my shoulders and have my key and cell phone in my hand.  It helps that there is usually never anyone on the streets, but there is nothing wrong with being safe.  There is also a part in my walk where no light touches and that is the part I hate the most.

Any way, I got home to find a home full of light.  Tyler was laying on the couch, looking tired.  To be honest, it was nice to have someone awake to come home to, but it was sad because Tyler couldn't sleep.  We went to bed and talked for a bit before we fell asleep.

This morning, I couldn't get out of bed.  I slept until 10 and still wanted to sleep on.  I got out of bed, ate breakfast, did dishes and sat on the couch.  I was half asleep when Tyler came home for lunch.  We both had turkey and Thanksgivings leftovers.  Our stuffing kind of ended up really mushy, so that hasn't been the best of eat as a leftover, but the rest is still pretty great.

I got a call and was asked if I could work tonight.  I said yes and now I am working the graveyard shift.  Midnight to 8am.  I just hope I can stay awake the whole night.  And I hope I get to see Tyler on his way to work on my way home from work.

The rest of the day was me relaxing to conserve energy for tonight.  I worked out after Tyler went back to work.  After my shower, I tried to sleep.  It turns out, our upstairs neighbor bought a herd of elephants and they must of have been river dancing.  It was so loud up there that I only got to sleep for 45 minutes.  My plan was to sleep for 3 hours and that didn't happen.  I don't know what those people were doing up there, but it was so loud and it seemed to be coming from all around me.  It was annoying.

I got out of bed and planned our menu for the week.  Although we have a giant turkey to finish, I don't want every meal for the next few months to consist of turkey.  When Tyler came home from work, we went shopping.  It has been blowing rain all day so the walk to the store wasn't that great.  We found all of what we needed plus some more of what wasn't on the list.  When asked if we wanted paper or plastic, we opted for plastic so our groceries wouldn't end up on the street when the rain hit the paper.  It's just common sense I think.

We got home and cooked up some chicken burgers.  They are easy and pretty good.  After a good meal with good conversation, we didn't do much.  We aren't doing much.  Watching some Glee right now.  Tyler is super tired so he will be going to bed soon and I will be waiting up until I have to go to work.

Tonight, I plan on watching some movies while doing my cross-stitching.  I hope the prisoner is sleeping the whole time.  It's much easier to deal with people when they don't talk or ask for anything.

I got to talk with my Mom today which is always nice.  It's great to get updates about life back home.  I do miss home.  It's still a little hard hearing about what they do together but that's ok.  It's still great to talk with family.  I love my mom.

Tyler also got a call from Luke.  I miss friends.  I can't wait till Christmas.  Only 2 months and 5 days till get home.  It will come fast and I can't wait.

Holiday day

Today started out to early for an extra day off. I was called into work at 8:25. It was the same patient that I was called in for yesterday. So I went in to make some money. I came home an hour later and found that Sonja was awake and watching a movie on TV. She was watching Blast From the Past. We had some breakfast of left over chocolate pie and Sonja had some cornflakes as well. We finished off the movie and then Sonja did her workout.

Since Dexter was on last night I started to download it. After her workout it was time for lunch. We had...you guessed it leftover turkey potatoes an gravy. It was still good even the second time around. We started to watch Dexter. It was really good and that's all I can say as I don't want to be a spoiler.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing. Sonja had to go work work at 4 so we didn't want to do to much. After she left I ate some popcorn and watched Iron Man 2. I. Was good. I enjoyed it. Earlier in the afternoon a float plane was trying to take off but was having some problems. It couldn't stay level on the water so it 'flew' around the bay for a little bit trying to take off. It eventually had to dock for a bit and they filled it up with gas and it took off.

It has rained all day today. We had some thunder and lightning earlier in the day, which is just strange to me. Thunder should come from a super hot summer day, not in the middle of October in the morning when it hasn't been hot for three or four weeks.

Yesterday Sonja and I bought Oiler tickets for their game in Vancouver in the 2nd of April. It's our one year anniversary trip and excuse to take a weekend out of here. It will be fun and we are excited.

Very Thankful!

I have a ton to be thankful for this year.  It's been a really great year and life is awesome.

The day started with a bit of sleeping in, although not as much as I wanted to.  I got out of bed to find that Tyler had already been up for a bit.  I usually don't hear him get out of bed and sometimes it surprises me that he can be so quiet.

We kind of started our day by preparing for the day.  The turkey had been thawing for a few days so it was ready to be dealt with.  Tyler had it in the new roasting pot we bought the other day.  He then started to remove the plastic covering so we could actually eat it.  Tyler removed the neck and then tried to find the bag of goodies, but couldn't find it.  We made the stuffing, which included the hand dried bread crumbs.  We prepared the turkey, meaning Tyler rubbed it down with butter and I sprinkled the giant bird with spices.  Tyler put the stuffing inside the turkey and it was pretty much ready to go.  We plopped the thing in the oven and the waiting game began.  I peeled the potatoes and then cut them up.

We basted Mr. Turkey every half hour for 5 hours.  It was actually pretty fun to be responsible for a big meal.  While we waited for the bird to cook, we watched some Office.  It was a great day of preparation.  It was down to the last hour, so we turned the oven down and I set the table.  It was hard to keep Kitty off the table that long, but we did it.

Tyler got called to work at about 4:00pm.  I got a little scared because of guests were coming at 5pm, and I didn't want to have all the food ready before Tyler came home.  Our 2 guests arrived and then Tyler came back home.  And then the party began.

Tyler carved the turkey, we made some gravy and all the food was on the table.  There was a lot of food.  Kitty joined us.  She was sitting on her little table, climbing up my chair, wanting attention.  Man, the food was so good.  We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, buns, sweet potato pie, and some drinks.  It was a very successful meal.

We also have some great friends.  We went around the table saying what we are thankful for.  I started, by being thankful for the fact that I have been married to the best husband in the whole world.  Also, I'm very thankful that Tyler has a full time job that allows us to be out here.  It's incredible that we get to see the things we do and do the things we do.  I am very thankful for a lot of things!!!

We eat and we were all filled so we saved dessert for later.  We cleaned up, and unnecessarily, our guests helped us out with dishes.  It was all cleaned up before we knew it and we were playing cards.  Our favorite game is Phase 10.  It gets super competitive and its so much fun.  I won, which is a nice change because I usually really suck.  It's been nice because we all have been able to reach phase 10, so it's not super lop-sided.

Our guests are now gone and we are relaxing once again.  It was such a great fun day.  And, it's Tyler and my 6 month anniversary today.  It was great to spend it doing something fun like a big meal.

It's late so we are off to bed.
I have to work tomorrow at 4, which isn't ideal, but it's good money and easy work.

Cards

Today was spent cleaning up the house.  We got up around 8:30 and got started.  We started with making the chocolate pie.  We then realized that we didn't have any corn starch to put in it.  So we made a quick list of things we needed.  We went to the store and pick it up.  It was super windy all night last night so we were asked a few times how we enjoyed it.  Once I fell asleep it wasn't bad.  The cat also slept by my feet all night until exactly 6 o'clock.  After getting the ingredients we needed we made the pie we did the dishes.  That went pretty quick and then moved to the next step on the check list.  Vacuuming again.  There is way to much cat fur all over the house.  We also cleaned the bathroom and took out the garbage.

After the house was all cleaned we made some lunch consisting of chicken burgers, as usual.  we spent the afternoon relaxing and watching The Office.  The tide was super high today and was hitting the retaining wall.  So I took my rod and fished from the deck.  I caught nothing but wasn't expecting to.  It isn't fish zone where there is only water for a few hours of a few days a month.  I just fished to say that I can and have.

I went to work at 3 and was there for 15 minutes or so.  I came home and we continued to relax.  We were invited for supper at Renees so we went over there at 6.  It was handy because we didn't know what we wanted to eat, so it was nice to have some one else cook.  After supper we played the worlds longest game of phase 10.  We started at 7 and didn't finish until at least 10:30.  The game ended with all four of us on phase ten trying to win.  I went out but didn't win this time.  I couldn't get the phase 10 hat trick of three wins in a row.  I ended up second.

We are home and are going to bed shortly.  Time to get ready for cooking thanksgiving tomorrow.

Hope you all enjoyed the video I put on earlier.

Stream Fishing

Just a little video from when we were fishing in the stream.  Sonja didn't know I was recording but would have screamed the same if she did.  I've been trying to put it on here for a while and now I finally have been able to.

Long weekend!!!

Today is Friday and it was a great day.

I have been getting use to waking up early during the night, but there is a new twist in that story.  I think Kitty is a little magic cat.  Before, when we thought she could open the door to our room because she always opened our door, we didn't know that it just didn't latch at all.  Any one can just push it open so that took the mystery away from that.  But, I have been locking her in the spare room and last night, something strange happened.  About half an hour after I locked her in there, I heard her scratching at our door again.  I thought I was dreaming, but then she actually got through our door and I knew it was real life, because she started scratching on our dresser.  I have no idea how she got through that other door.  It boggles my mind because that one actually latches.  Another mystery to figure out on another day.

I wanted to sleep in a lot this morning, but it's only Friday.  I don't let myself sleep in on the week days because that would be to easy.  It would send my life into a lazy downward spiral.  I only sleep in on the weekends, to give my life a little normalcy.

I did my regular stuff, worked out, did the dishes, folded laundry.  It was all very entertaining.  What's nice about the hockey season starting, is that a few teams today played over in Europe so their games were on in the morning and afternoon.  It gave me something to have on in the background while I cross-stitched.

I also looked up recipes for how on earth how to actually cook a turkey.  I know it's really not that hard, but it's my first one so I want to do as much research on it as possible.  We have hand made bread for the stuffing, which means we dried our own bread that we bought at the store and chopped it up nicely.  I'm really excited about making all this food.  It will be fun.  We are going to do a practice chocolate pie to make sure it turns out properly.  That way, if it gets ruined in any way, we can run to the store and get more ingredients.

Tomorrow will be a day of cleaning this place, making sure it is company ready.  Tyler is on call this weekend, so hopefully he gets lots of call backs.  Lots of banked hours so that our Christmas holiday wont be so moneyless.

Our Friday night so far has been filled with a new game we first played last night after the Oiler game.  We played something called, "Pen Hockey".  Basically the rules are, you use a pen and one of Kitty's koosh balls, and you play regular hockey.  We play in our hall.  I won last night, but today I wasn't so lucky.

Happy Friday! and a Merry Thanksgiving!

New day

Its a new day in Oil Country today.  The official start of the new season is today.  And the Oilers are looking good.  It is 1-0 at the end of the first.  They have also out shot the Flames.

As you can tell I am pretty excited.  I waited all summer for this day.  It was a long day at work.  It started out slow in the morning.  I just had one x-ray to do and that's all I did until lunch.  I read a lot of Oilers news, trying to pass the time and keep my excitement in check.

I came home for lunch and had the customary sandwich.  I came home and the dishes had been done, floor vacuumed and pizza dough made and rising for supper.  Also the turkey was in the fridge and starting the thaw out process.  I went back to work and finished off the day.  A few more x-rays and some blood work to finish the day.  I came home on time today because today is date night.  We had pizza for supper which was absolutely delicious.  And waited for the game to start.  Our date theme is 'A Night at Rexall'.  We had our version of Boston Pizza Pizza by the slice.  Our big bowl of Rexall popcorn.  Oilers jerseys on and watching the game.  Its good so far.

Tomorrow is Friday and starts y long weekend on call.  I'm hoping for a semi-busy weekend.  A few call backs on Saturday and maybe one early Sunday and a few more on Monday.  Not much on tap for the rest of the night.  Finish up watching the Oilers destroy Calgary, and then watch the new episode of The Office.

Hopefully Thanksgiving preparation and supper goes good.

Tyler

P.S.  Just an edit, the Oilers won the game 4-0.  Jordan Eberle scored 2 in the third period and Hemsky scored 1.  Our heavyweight skater had a total knock out on Calgary's "tough guy".  It was a good game and great start to the season.  Lets go Oilers!!

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

My morning started at 4 am this morning.  Locking Kitty up in the other room has only worked a few days so far.  Not this morning.  She just wouldn't stop scratching on the other door and this morning, she won.  Since I wasn't able to sleep, I let her out and she came into our room, of course.  She does this thing where she just scratches on the dresser for no reason.  It's annoying.  After 4am, I wasn't able to go back to sleep.  I'm sure I wandered in and out of consciousness, but it sure felt like I got no sleep.  As a result of my tossing and turning, Tyler also didn't sleep well.

I didn't hear Tyler get out of bed when his alarm sounded off.  I pretty much didn't move until he came into the room to kiss me goodbye.  And then I didn't get out of bed for another half hour.  The plan for the day didn't originally have me sleep in, but we all make sacrifices right?

I did get out of bed eventually, and stole a bowl of Honey Nut Cherrios from Ty's stash.  I do mean "steal" because he usually gets mad at me for eating HIS cereal.  The real problem comes in when I have to open a brand new box of Honey Nuts after Tyler has finished the old one in the morning.  It makes it a lot harder to be sneaky with it.  Some times he doesn't notice.

I worked out and got right into the rest of my daily routine and I will spare you with the boring details as they did not consist of much.

I had to prepare supper eventually.  I did that at 3pm and I will tell you something, those rock fish are kind of a giant pain in the butt.  I had to skin the thing and that skin is really slippery and scaly and it was something awful.  I vowed then and there to never do that again.  I will leave the all the fish stuff up to the man of this house.

Tyler came home and the fish was already in the oven and the rice was a cookin'.  The meal ended up really tasty.  It was nice because all the meat just fell off the bones so there seemed to be less of a threat to get stabbed.  I love the rice that we have bought.  It's white (I know not the best healthwise) Jasmine rice from China and it is just so good.

The rest of the night has been spent just doing nothing.  The rest of the Office series came in the mail today, so you can guess what we are doing right now.  It's a funny show, but that's a lot of tv.  It's not so bad, only because it's been really cloudy, rainy and gloomy and there isn't much else to do.

I'm going to once again attempt a mani/pedi on Kitty.  She needs her claws clipped once again.  When I try to clip them, she always pulls those little paws away.  I can get about one done every time I try.  I start when she is sound asleep but she gets wise pretty quickly.

Just a few more days till the first fancy meal I cook.  I'm counting down because it freaks me out a little to be responsible for such a big meal.  Good thing there will only be 4 people there.  I have confidence in it though.  I'm excited for all the turkey sandwiches to follow.  It's going to be good.

We started to buy all the food and snacks this week.  Tyler wanted a bag of salt and vinegar chips for Sunday, and the deal was that he couldn't open them until Sunday.  If he opened them sooner, they would all be gone.  He had a craving and we all believed that he would eat a few chips, then put the bag away.  That bag is now empty in the garbage because it is impossible for Tyler to walk away from a full bag of chips.  It's okay though.  We still have time to go out and buy more salty snacks.

Ready for a nice sleep tonight.  Hopefully without Kitty needlessly scratching on everything.

Wednesday is over and Thursday is coming up quickly.  Ty and I are excited because the Oilers play their first game tomorrow.  I'll be wearing my jersey for sure!!

Raining

Well last night it started raining again after some nice weather over the weekend.  I guess it is supposed to clear up again by Friday but we'll see.  Today was a pretty steady day at work.  It felt kinda like a real hospital which is always nice.  I came home at lunch to find that Sonja had gone to guard for the afternoon.    So needless to say I ate lunch alone.  I went back to work and finished off the day.  I came home, still to an empty house.  I didn't really feel like making anything so I resorted to our stash of emergency chicken burgers, and made a couple of those for supper.  I spent the evening watching TSN and waiting for Sonja to come home.  She came home around 7 and she had some cereal to eat for supper.  After I made some popcorn and we watched Arrested Development.

The rest of the night was spent relaxing.  We are both tired so we will likely go to bed pretty quick.  It rained all day and was really windy and cold.  It is starting to feel like fall.

Bon Fire!

Today was a good relaxing day for me.  I was tired, as 3am is super early to be awoken from sleep.  Same old story there.

I didn't hear Tyler get out of bed which means I was super tired right out of the gate.  I got out of bed to eat breakfast with him before he left for work.  It's always nice to spend time together in the morning.

I did my work out, through the yawning and through all the thoughts of wanting to quit.  Early to bed tonight for sure.  There was a weekends worth of dishes to do, so after I cleaned myself up, I got to them.  It only took an hour which isn't so bad.  It gave me something to do for that hour.  I showered and soon Tyler came home.

We went to the Band Store to buy most of our Thanksgiving foods.  We got a pretty big turkey which Tyler had to carry home.  I'm excited to host Thanksgiving this year.  I'm nervous because I really don't want to mess it up, but I think I can do it with Tyler by my side.  Our menu will consist of turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and chocolate pie.  I don't remember if I have already told you guys that, but there it is.  Also, what is super exciting, October 10th will be our 6 month anniversary.  I can't believe we have already been married for almost half a year.  How can it go so fast??  It's so awesome, not the fastness, but the awesomeness of it all.  I'm so in love with Tyler and it will only get so much better.  Hooray!!

I didn't do much after Tyler left back for work, and soon it was time to think about what was for din din. Tyler wanted buffalo chicken burgers because that's his favorite meal, but we only had 2 buns.  So I re heated some frozen spaghetti sauce and cooked up some noodles.  It was good even the second time around.  I also made some cheese garlic bread.

Since Dexter was on yesterday, we watched it right after we got off the dinner table.  It was a pretty good episode, not really into the main story yet, but still pretty good.

We then went to a bon fire that was going on down on the water.  It was a fun time.  Kendra has had a friend out here for about a week, and she is going back home tomorrow, so this was a farewell fire.  They were cooking up hot dogs, and there were smores and chocolate and good friends.  Lots of laughs. You could see about a million stars out too, which doesn't always happen, and that was just fantastic.  We were hanging out with some people who work for the guy I emailed my resume to, for the day care. They said that I shouldn't get my hopes up.  Since I'm not Native, I likely will not get it.  Seems a little unfair to me, but I guess it makes sense.  If the roles were reversed, I'm sure someone would raise a stink.  But also, it makes sense to keep the jobs in the community with people who are actually going to be staying forever.  And that's all I have to say about that.

We left because I was falling asleep.  We are now at home, and I'm falling asleep writing this blog, so I'm going to wrap it up because I mind is empty and I'm not sure what I've written already.

Good night!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Well tonight we went over to Kendra's for our weekly phase ten match which is why this post is coming so late.

Today started out as any other.  Cat being stupid, scratching and waking us up early.  Fortunately we were both able to still sleep in.  I woke up at 9 and came out to watch some TV while Sonja kept sleeping.  As I was flipping through the channels with the REMOTE, I stumbled across a fishing show.  They were salmon fishing this episode.  Near the end, which is where I tuned in they said something about Bella Bella.  They had taped the show here, and at Shearwater.  It was pretty cool to see a show that was taped here and was about the fishing here.  It's too bad that I missed the beginning of the show.  I looked it up on the internet to watch it and possibly post it, but it is probably the only that isn't on the internet.

After a bit Sonja woke up and we ate some breakfast.  We spent the rest of the day watching The Office.  I recently bought all the seasons to it and they finally came so that is why we have been watching so much.

We went over for cards around seven.  We played a round of phase ten.  It started out pretty good for me.  I got all of my phases and went out in the first 5 rounds.  So I ended up with 0 points in the first while.  Then it got kinda ugly as people realized I was kicking some butt.  Then it slowed up for me.  I did end up winning and it was glorious.  I won in phases and in points.  By like 150 points.  After phase ten we played a round of cheat.  Of which I also won.  So it was a pretty good night of cards for me.  We came home and I am now typing this.

On call for the next week and long weekend.  So hopefully I can make some money.

Awesomeness

Today was a great day.  Not a great morning because I didn't get to sleep in as long as I wanted, but that's just me being a little lazy on the weekends.

I got out of bed before Tyler and I worked on a cross-stitch project.  I'm getting pretty close to being done this one and I can't wait to start another one.

Tyler soon got out of bed and we made the weekly grocery list and menu.  It's going to be an alright week for dinners.

We literally did nothing all day today, so it's hard to put a lot of effort into this particular blog.  It was still a great day, just a little slow.  But, I do love spending time with Tyler, so today was a perfect day for that.

I am going out tonight, to meet up with some friends and do this thing called henna.  It's this Indian inking thing that stays on your skin for like a month.  Not sure I will actually participate in that, but I'm excited to hang out with some girl friends.  I'm actually suppose to be there right now...so, perhaps I should wrap this up.  It will be a fun time.

It was a beautiful day outside today.  It looked really nice but it wasn't a super hot day.  Defiantly fall around here.

Well, I'm overdue at a party, so have a great weekend.

Tired

Well again the cat woke me up a few times.  Somehow she has learned how to open the bedroom door.  ????  Not to sure how she pulls that one off yet.  Maybe the door doesn't fully latch and when she leans up and scratches on it it just pops open.  I know this because I kicked her out early this morning and a few minutes later she was back in our room.  I know I shut it all the way because I was starting to think that Sonja was sleep walking and letting her in the room.  But no.  Sonja didn't move and the cat still got in the room.  The cat woke me up again at 6:30, which is too bad because the alarm goes off at 7:45.

I went to work today and was actually busy for 3/4 of the day.  It was steady this morning, a couple of blood collections and an xray and ECG all before 8:30, then had to start up the lab.  The rest of the day continued the same.  It was strange being kinda busy as there was only one doctor in the office today.

I came home and tried to fix the remote by putting some new batteries.  That didn't work so I went back to work and talked to maintenance.  We ended up with a new remote for the TV.  We also made a trip to the store to pick up some buns and milk.  We came back and I made chicken burgers for supper and fries.  Unfortunately there were only 2 chicken burgers.  Sonja had cereal for supper, and let me have the burgers.    It was good.

The day was pretty nice out.  It was sunny when I went back to work after lunch, but by the time I got off of work it had clouded over and had cooled down a lot.  The evening has been spent watching The Office and Sonja working on her cross-stitch project.
