This weekend was the best weekend I have had in a very long time and forgive me if I forgot to mention everything...it was a very busy weekend but I loved every moment of it.
My weekend started Thursday morning. My flight was scheduled to depart at 11:30am. I had asked a guy at work if he could give me a ride when he goes up to deliver important things that need to get on the plane. I ended up being at the airport at 9:30am with not much to do. I did bring a book that I started on our honeymoon, but its a little hard to get into so I'm not a huge fan of it. While waiting at the airport, I saw an RCMP airplane come in to pick up some people. It was pretty cool, with the guy riding a horse on the fin of the plane, and the red, yellow and blue stripes down the middle of it. I didn't have a camera so I can't actually prove that I saw this...but it was a new plane to see.
My flight left on time and there were no complications. I do have to say that traveling alone is not the way to go. I would much rather be with someone to talk to, or just to have a person to know. It makes it less lonely.
I finally got to Calgary, and I was so excited. I new that I was about the see Tyler again and my heart was racing. I decided that I didn't want to cry when I saw him, you know, with all the other people standing around and he said he brought a friend of ours along. As soon as I found him in the crowd, I ran up to him, wrapped my arms around his neck and cried. It was so great to see him again. He looked a little different but it was the best part of the day for me.
All three of us, Tyler, David and I met up with another friend who lives in Calgary. We went to Chillies. That was the first time I have ever ate there, and it's pretty good. I also didn't eat anything all that day, so I probably wouldn't have noticed if it tasted bad. We had a lot of good laughs. It's always great to get together with those who have been your friend for a long time.
We then headed home to Ponoka. We stopped by Red Deer to drop David off and we got home pretty late. It was good to see the in-laws again, and have some more good conversation. Tyler and I (mostly Tyler) were packing some more stuff we wanted to take out to Bella Bella. It is difficult when you have limited space to pack. I think we did manage to get all the stuff packed and ready to go.
Friday was also a really great day. I got to hang out with my friend, Karissa. We went shopping for new clothes. One of the first days we got out here in Bella Bella, my jeans started showing signs of a hole that eventually grew larger and larger and now is just kind of embarrassing. We headed out from Wetaskiwin to South Edmonton Common and shopped all around there. We found most of the things we were looking for. We did not find me a good rain jacket there, which was high on the priority list and very disappointing when they are all really poor quality. I got jeans, t-shirts, pants. We had a really great time catching up and laughing. I love the people who surround me because they all make me laugh so much.
Any way, after we spent a good 4-5 hours there, we went to South Gate shopping mall to find more clothes that I needed. I also ate a sub that took about 10 minutes for the person to make. This is more of a side note, but I was the only one in line and it took that long... kind of annoying.
I had asked Karissa if, since we were so close to Sherwood Park, we could stop by my parents place for a little surprise. Mom and Dad had no idea my plan was to show up. I had let Amy and Eva know about, although I'm thinking now that I should have also let brother Tyler know... I have no idea why I didn't let him know I would be in town. Perhaps because I still think he lives at home... silly brain.
We showed up at my parents place and got the reaction I was hoping for. Big hugs and lots of smiling faces. It was also great because Mormor and Morfar were there. I love my family and when there is more people to see, I am really happy. Amy and Eva hadn't showed up yet but we chatted with the older generations for a while. I was great to be home again. On the back deck, sipping water, more laughing. What a great way to spend time. Amy and Eva eventually came but since we were already there for a while before they showed up, we left almost right away. That wasn't part of the plan but it was still great to see them again. It's been much to long.
As we were leaving Sherwood Park, the flood gates must have opened up, because it started to pour so hard that we couldn't see where we were going. Straight roads are a must when that happens. It was really freaky but we managed to escape.
Then Karissa and I went to Leduc and finally found a good quality rain jacket. That was a must and I really love my new coat.
When we got back to Karissa and her husband, Luke's house, the power had been out for about half an hour. We sat around their kitchen table, as we have so many times in the past, and just talked and laughed by candle light. We eventually did find a lantern. It was a great night.
Saturday was the wedding that Tyler was the best man for. I stayed over at the Risto house Friday night and we were going to hang out again during the wedding, as Tyler was a little busy with having fun with his best friend.
The ceremony was supposed to be held outside in a beautiful garden but it rained a lot and it was moved into a church in Innifail. It was a beautiful wedding, with the groom shedding a few tears. It is so great to see friends get married. It makes me smile to know they are so happy. Luke, Karissa and I went to Boston Pizza for some food after the ceremony was done. It was a little loud with drunken shouts, but we managed to enjoy ourselves.
And then there was the waiting. We drove around Lacombe for a few hours, sat in a church parking lot talking, going to the top of a hill and coasting down in neutral. It was fun but also very tiring. But it was still fun.
The reception was held at the Gull Lake Center. We went early to, not only burn a few minutes of just waiting, but also to make sure we new where we were going. It was easy to find but something about the place seemed so familiar. As we turned off the main road, the trees lining it was bringing back memories but I couldn't place them until I saw the Camp Rehoboth sign. I used to go there all the time with Mom and Dad and it was weird how much it has changed and how much I still remember of that place, even though I haven't been there in some many years.
We went inside the Center and the place looked so beautiful. They did a really great job at decorating that place. We ended up going back to Lacombe because we still had a few hours.
The reception was fun too. It was strange because its one of the first weddings I have been to where I wasn't related, or I didn't know them for a very long time. I hardly knew any people there but we did meet a few interesting people. We still had a great time. The speeches were really sweet and the food was so amazing that I could eat it every day of my life.
I must also mention, that Tyler looked amazing in his Best Man outfit. he wore a nice green long sleeved shirt under a pin striped vest with pin stripped pants. He looked so amazing and I am so lucky to be married to such a handsome man.
They finally got to the dancing part of the night, which meant that Tyler could now hang out with us. We all danced, laughed, talked, walked around... it was a great Saturday night. It turned into a late one.
Our flight back here to Bella Bella was leaving Calgary at 7:00am. We were lucky to have Tyler's parents going out in that direction so they dropped us off at the airport but not before we left their place at 3:30am. That wouldn't have been a big deal only we didn't go to sleep. We were at the reception till pretty late and the plan was to do some last minute packing then go back to Luke and Karissa's house to spend some time with them again. We ended up only being at their place for about half an hour because they were falling asleep and we didn't think it was fair to keep them up. We went back to the house and laid in bed. We didn't want to go to sleep because then it would have been harder to get up.
So we were dropped of at the airport and checked into our flight. We had a bit of time so we grabbed some breakfast and tried to stay awake. During the flight, I got to sleep a little, maybe 30 minutes. Basically we switched who got to lay on the others lap and sleep. I feel like I slept the whole way to Bella Bella but I know that's not true.
On our flight from Port Hardy to Bella Bella, we were told that if the plane has a hard time finding the runway, it will turn around and go back to Port Hardy. We really didn't want to be stranded there until the weather cleared up so we were praying they could find all the runways they needed.
They did and we made it here safe and sound, only we are both extremely tired. Tyler is actually napping right now. We unpacked, showered, doing laundry, and playing a bit of DDR. Tyler is so sweet. He bought me a DDR for the Wii we got for our wedding. I love that game. I would have played longer today but I can barely keep my eyes open so I dont think it would work out too well.
There weather is cloudy. No real rain, just a slight mist. The ravens are singing in the background, which is lovely. There is currently a raven sitting on our deck and the cat thinks she can take it down. If only the window wasn't there Kitty, then you could.
We only have one plan for tonight: going to bed early. I want to go to bed right now, but that's a little too early. I don't think I would sleep through the night.
It was a fantastic weekend full of laughs. It all happened so fast and I can't believe it is already over and I have to go to work tomorrow, but it was a great trip.
Make sure to look out for Tyler's blog post. I don't know when he is going to do it, as he is sleeping right now, but he had an interesting weekend as the Best man for his friend.
