Almost June

So, one more night until June. June is a great month. June means it's almost summer, and summer is a great time of year.

Anyway, today was just like every other day, except Mondays are nothing like Fridays. Today was boring and nothing exciting happened. We both had horrible sleeps. I felt like I was awake more then I was asleep, but I know that's not true. Kitty was wide awake and therefore, so were we.

We got up and Tyler showered while I made breakfast. French toast is so good in the morning. Then we went to work. Work was nothing special. Today was my last day being trained. I was asked if I felt like I knew everything...how can I answer that? All I know is that last week, I was trained in stuff I am not going to be doing, so you can guess how prepared I feel for this. Good things it's not really life and death stuff I deal with.

And that was the day. We went to work, and nothing really happened. Horray.

When I got home, I could smell something super tasty cooking away. Its almost handy coming home after Tyler, because dinner is usually at least started. Tyler had made us potato halves, with garlic and cheese and it was so good.

We laughed a lot today. It was a good day in that sense. I love laughing with Tyler.

Tyler is now trying to book flights home again for Tony's wedding, only our internet is not working. I'm not doing anything, as per usual. If not looking forward to tomorrow could be acted out, I would be doing that. I'm a little freaked out because the girl I am replacing does a lot of work here, and I don't feel all that ready to fill those shoes. I'm sure it will go better then I'm picturing it, but there's always a little fear in new things.

The rest of tonight has no plan. We've decided not to eat popcorn before bed any more, because I had another strange dream last night. This time, I was on a boat, with lawyers, doctors and Dane Cook. There was also a giant waffle and a being pulled out of the water. Too strange to describe.

Any way, it's late for all you who are reading this and I'm sorry...internet, geez!

Kitty is still out of her food but I fed her by spoon so she got a bit of nutrients in her.

A good walk

Hey so this is late post and I am sorry about that. I kinda forgot about doing it and getting to it. So the cat just threw up and Sonja is going to go clean that up. She is out of her regular cat food and being a super picky and allergic cat we can't get her food here. She hasn't eaten very much today and that is probably the cause of her stomach upset. She doesn't like wet food and thats all we could find that didn't have chicken in it.

Today was a good day. We were able to sleep in a little bit. I woke up for the first time at 6 so a little bit better than the 4 o'clock wake up that I have been doing. But I dozed for the next few hours because the cat get restless when she is hungry and won't let us sleep. Sonja got up around 9 and I stayed in bed and slept a little longer. After I woke up we went for a hike. It was finally sunny, opposite of what the forecast was calling for. We went to what we think is Bachelor Bay. We were told to walk north and turn off onto a trail and go past this gate. We followed these directions and so thats why we only think we were at Bachelor Bay. It was very cool. Its just this open lagoon that trickles down to the ocean. Along the way we saw tons of eagles, mostly around the dump but none the less, there were lots and lots of eagles.

After we looked around and skipped some rocks we decided to come home. On our grocery trip yesterday we again didn't get milk. Since the ferry came in yesterday we went back to the store today to get milk and bananas. They didn't have the milk unpacked and shelved yet so we returned home and waited for a few hours. I went again after 4 when they told us it would be stocked and bought some.

We spent the remainder of the watching The Office. We had breaded chicken for supper and smoothies for desert. I spent some of the evening calling guys for Tony's bachelor party.

Anyway thats all for now.

T minus one week

Today was supposed to be nice and sunny, and we were supposed to go on a hike. But then we woke up, looked outside and was disappointed. We could sum up the day with few words, but how is that interesting? Now the problem is coming up with enough to say that will make it worth reading...

We laid in bed this morning and just talked, and laughed. It was a good morning. I have longed to sleep in all week. Unfortunately, we both still woke up around 4am, and 5am, and 6am, and 6:30am, and 6:45am, and 6:50 am. The cat was scratching on the couches, and she was chewing up boxes and racing around.

We got out of bed and that's when we saw that our plans for the day would have to change. Instead of doing something fun and exciting like a hike, we made out the menu for the week. We didn't have any food in the house this morning, so I made hot chocolate and brought out the cook books. It's hard to choose meals because we never know what our little band store will have available to us. Most of the time what we choose to make, we don't add some of the ingredients. So, as we are flipping through the books, I spilt my hot chocolate on them. It sucked. Now our cook books are brown and I was out some hot chocolate.

Then we went shopping. Once again, there was no milk to be bought but most of the stuff on our list was there. We came home and unloaded the groceries. Then we proceeded to not do anything all day. It stayed cloudy and gloomy all day. We finished season 3 of Arrested Development. I love that show. No matter how many times I watch it, it's always funny. During all this excitement, I started to write more thank you cards. It's very time consuming writing cards but its worth it. It's still incredible to me all the great gifts we were given.

Although we didn't do much today, it was still a great day. Relaxing is awesome and spending time with my great husband is the best thing in the world.

I am getting excited for next week. Mom and Dad are coming out to see us in one week. It's going to be fun. One week and I get to see my parents again. And my parents get to see their grand kitty again.

I made some tasty smoothies just now...they were good.

Tonight doesn't look like much excitement will happen. We might watch a movie. Tyler might play Wii.
The weather is the nicest its been all day. We can actually see the mountains on the mainland right now. I hope tomorrow will be nicer.

I guess I should mention the church we went to last week. It's was interesting. The first thing we noticed was that church didn't start until 7pm. We were there at 10am. That was sad because we were already for the day. When we went back at 7pm, there was a certain smell. For all those who have been to the cabin at Slave Lake, it smelt just like that. Old, musty, and well, old. Tyler says it reminded him of an episode of Tribal Trails. We sat down, along with the other 7 people who were there. The pastor broke out the guitar and played the same 3 chords for a couple different songs. There were 2 pastors who went up and said a little something, then they did this tag-team thing where they picked someone else from the church to go up and also say something. Tyler had to go up too. We had to leave 2 hours later because both of our butts were fast asleep and it likely went on that way for another 2 hours. We aren't sure we will go back because that was really different then we are used to. I guess we will see.

Thats all for now.

Friday

Well another island day done and we are ready for the weekend. The day was slow for me. The clinic was closed so therefor not much work for me. I did a few xrays and spent some time in the clinic before coffee. After coffee nothing else happened for most of the day. I got off of work and went for a quick walk around the town before Sonja came home. Sonja came home and had a headache so we watched Dirty Jobs and made chicken burgers. After supper I sent Sonja for a nap that was around 6:30 and she is still sleeping. Hopefully her headache goes away. We were going to go for a walk today as it was gorgeous most of the day and of course when we got off and ready to go he wind picked up and the sun disappeared. Also Sonja's headache caused us to stay home. Hopefully tomorrows forcast holds true and we can go for a hike up Mt Han. Well it's not really a mountian but the highest point on the island. Apparently you can see for miles on a clear day. If it's not
nice we'll go for a shorter hike to a place called Bachelor Bay. I've been told that wolves hang out around there. So I will make sure to bring the camera to take lots of pictures no matter what we do. Rest of the plan tonight is to relax and wait for Sonja to wake up and maybe watch a movie.

That's all for now.

The best thing about having square plates is that you can use them as diamond plates too....just a thought.

This morning came early. I slept in tiny bit this morning as Tyler showered, then I remembered that I said I would make pancakes for breakfast. I got up and made pancakes, and I didn't burn them. The last time I made pancakes, they turned out blacker then desired. They turned out tasty.

Then it was off to work. I didn't want to go at all which meant that I was grumpy and didn't have a great attitude. I was frustrated because I am being trained to answer phones and work the front reception, but that's not what I am going to be doing this summer. I have no idea why I'm not being trained to do the job of the girl I am replacing in 2 days. It doesn't make sense to me and it frustrates me, but I survived. At lunch I vented to Tyler and felt slightly better. I went back to work hoping to have a better attitude. And I did. After lunch, things went smoother then before. I was enjoying the time better. I was laughing with my trainer and it was actually kind of fun. By 4:30, my brain was drained. I wasn't able to focus on anything. For the last half hour of work, I'm not sure what happened. I was staring at a piece of paper and I'm not sure what happened.

I got home to find Tyler playing Wii. He was playing basketball and facing off against the champion team. All that to say, dinner wasn't ready. I gave him a hard time even though I really didn't care. I wasn't hungry. He eventually cooked up some deer sausage and we ate. He said he was going to make a surprise later...I wonder what that will be.

After din din, we did the dishes. Then I took Kitty outside to the deck, on a leash of course. She was a little tentative but I'm sure she will want to go there again. I will have to keep a close watch on her.

On a side note, we saw a heron outside our place last night. Just chilling on a log. He was pretty cool.

Also, I forgot to mention that I got to talk with my mom the other day. That was awesome. My parents are coming out to see us June 5th. I have no idea what we are going to do out here because we could show them all this town has to offer in about one day. Luckily there is alway kayaking, and walking around.

Tonight looks something like this: Tyler is currently in the kitchen making me a surprise, I am doing nothing, and later tonight we will probably watch more Arrested Development. It's a great show.

Tomorrow is Friday...horray for Friday.

Sunshine

Well it has come to that time to blog again, as I know everyone is hovering around their computer waiting for our daily update. So the day started off as any other waking up after dozing from 4:00am till the alarm went off at 7. The cat running around and the bed is pretty uncomfortable as well. Hopped in the shower and Sonja still slept for a little while longer and got up 20 minutes later. We had Cherrios for breakfast and checked emails. Off to work. It was pretty slow all morning at work. I had to set up data for one of the analyzers. It was pretty boring, but the time went by because of it. We actually didn't have any patients before lunch. It was a little busier after lunch. A few X-rays to do and some lab work. It was very beautiful and sunny all day. It was tough to be inside and working when it was probably the nicest it's been here. After work we went kayaking again. of course as soon as I got off work it started to cloud up and get windy, but we went anyways. It was fun except the kayak I was in wasn't very good. It kept wanting to turn right even when I was paddling to turn left. But regardless we enjoyed ourselves. We went north towards the airport this time. The tide was still going out so it was pretty cool to see the low tide. Along the shore where the tide was gone we saw some starfish on the rocks, just above the waterline. Lots and lots of starfish. The first one we saw was purple and was on a rock under the water. I tried to take a picture of it but I realized that I forgot the memory card for it at home. But we know where all the starfish were so we will go again, with an empty memory card and take pictures of them and put them up here. We came back after the starfish and made supper. We had spicy chicken, it was curry and chili powder covered. It was delicious. Now we are relaxing and I am still hungry so I will try to find something to eat.

Oh something Sonja forgot to mention yesterday, while we were standing on the deck we had a humming bird come and fly right in front of us and check us out. We probably could have grabbed it. Also she didn't mention that I am a superstar at Wii ping pong and she's getting pretty scared of me beating her record.

Thats all for now.

Thunderbolts and lightning

Tuesday...today felt so much like Monday, and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking that. So long, so boring. So hard to get through it alive and kicking.

Today started early this morning. Too early. 4am is a time nobody should have to see. Kitty loves that time, as she always needs a cuddle around then.

Do you ever find yourself staring outside into the dark, and your mind just secretly hopes something utterly terrifying pops out of the abyss to give you a good scare? Of course you know nothing will, but there's always that fear that something is staring back at you. That fear is how I can describe how I felt when I woke up this morning. I had the worst dream last night and although I know no one cares about other peoples dreams, I'm going to tell you about it. Don't worry, I'll condense it. Basically, we were laying in bed, sleeping in a house that was supposed to be Amy and Aaron's house. I woke up to the sound of light tapping on the window. As I looked over to the window, I saw the silhouette of a man (any one singing Queen???) with a top hat on. He was slowly tapping on the window, and then he shone a flash light into our room. I hide behind Tyler, who of course was still sleeping and couldn't save me from this guy. Any way, he walked towards the front door as I tried to shake Tyler awake. I told him about the guy, and he didn't believe me. Then we heard the front door handle trying to open and the cat was freaking out....any way, when I really woke up, I had a really nasty feeling and I was super tired. It was not a good start to my day. Tyler later told me that at around 4am I sat straight up in the bed.

The rest of the day went on with less excitement. I watched someone else answer phone calls, which is even less exciting then it sounds. She typed me out a checklist of sorts, which didn't make much sense. I watched as she booked patients in, hardly explaining what she was doing to me. It basically was more boring then sorting out paper. I got to answer a few calls. As boring and dumb as that is, most of the time when I answered the phone, I didn't know what to say. Learning is tough, no matter what the job entails.

The whole day consisted of me looking at the clock, hoping time would magically go faster, which it didn't. By the end of the work day, my mind was mush and I walked home. Tyler and I had plans to go kayaking again tonight before dinner. It was raining a bit so we didn't end up doing that.

We cooked dinner, which was a really tasty pasta and chicken dish. It was easy to make and really great. Then after we did dishes, Tyler called his best friend to arrange bachelor party details. Its always entertaining to listen to 2 guys on the phone together.

Tonight doesn't look like it's going to be that exciting. Tyler will once again try to beat my ping pong...which he might. He's getting better, which he should be as he always plays this game. I don't know what I will do. I have to find a new hobby, or buy more cross-stitching.

The weather today was nice, then rainy, then nice. It's calm now, as it is most of the time. Its so nice to live here. Not to brag but we have an awesome view. It's great to just stand out on our deck and breath the fresh sea air, watching the tides go in and out, waiting for the red/brown dog to go by. It's sweet!!

Kitty is currently sleeping right behind me on the couch. Her feet are on top of my head and she is upside down, almost falling off the couch, fast asleep. She's kind of a doofus. But we love her.

How many of you are singing Queen now???

Since the internet is working pretty well right now, I'll put up some pictures that we've been trying to post.

The car fully loaded down, taking a break in Golden.

The ferry waiting for us at Port Hardy.

The cruise ship that sailed by.

The helicopter that landed.

An eagle sitting on the rock pier.

And one on a streetlight.

Keep checking back for more because we never know when the internet will be working properly. I will keep trying to get more pictures on tonight.

For now,

Victoria Day

Well today was a day off for us. Relaxing day too. The plan was to do some kayaking and relax but it was a little bit to choppy for us to go out for our second time. Instead we slept in and watched TV. Sonja cross stitched and I sat and watched TV and took a nap. We went to pick up the last of our groceries, milk and bread. The seaway was pretty quiet today, just a few barges passed by. We had chicken burgers for supper and then had strawberry smoothies. Sorry for the boring blog. Plan tonight is watch some of season two of Arrested Development, eat some popcorn and get ready for the week. The internet is just a thorn in our side. We have it and it occasionally works, so better than using my phone for everything.

Thats all for now. Maybe some kayaking after work tomorrow. Here's hoping.

Nothing New

Today was uneventful. We didn't do anything that really is worth mentioning.

It started with us thinking that we had to get up for church. There aren't any signs on any businesses around here so we had no idea what time to get up and go. We got up at around 9am and I made breakfast. I attempted to make bacon and eggs. It didn't go as planned and I slightly burned the bacon. It was disappointing but we managed to eat most of it.
Then we got dressed and walked down to the church, hoping to magically show up on time. We went in the building to find 3 people inside and they looked as if they were setting something up. We found out that church was actually at night so we walked home. The problem is that the 3 people in the church were all Korean and since we were told that there is actually a large Korean population on the island, I am assuming that the service will be in Korean. I guess we will see in about an hour.
The rest of the day was slightly boring, but boring in a good way. We made the menu for the week and then went shopping. That was quite the experience. Never before in my life have I gone to a store and they didn't have all the food I needed to buy. They didn't have milk and bread and it was strange. I hope they have it out tomorrow. I need milk. I love milk. It made me sad.
Any way, we got food and unpacked it at home. Then I cross-stitched. It was relaxing. Tyler made popcorn, cut up an orange, and then we watched Arrested Development. I love that show.
Tyler then made supper. We had all the leftovers we've been storing all this week. It was really great.
We are going to church in about half an hour now.
What else happened....
A barge and a ferry went by. We didn't see any whales or seals or any animals except Kitty. Kitty was acting very strange all day. That started early this morning, with her sitting on my arms and waking us up too early. She was running all over the place and digging around in plastic bags. It kept me awake so I shut her out of her bathroom. By the way, her litter box is in the other room we have, hence, her bathroom. Any way, she was then trying to claw her way into that room just to play with the bag again. We were getting up at that point any way so I tried to open the door. It was locked. That was super confusing as I didn't lock the door. It was frustrating because we had no key to get in. Luckly, Tyler is a brilliant husband and he went outside to see if the window was open. Again luck was on our side and it was, and that creeps me out. It is now locked. Any way, Tyler broke his way into the spare room and got the door open. He did have to destroy the screen but managed to put it together.

I do have something to say about yesterdays little boat trip. That was incredibly freaky. I was scared all morning for it but I knew I would do it. There really wasn't a question about whether I would do it, but I didn't know how long it would take me to actually get in the water. It didn't take that long. But I managed to get in the water and it was wonderful. I actually love kayaking. The open water is not so much fun. I was fine when I couldn't see the bottom but when we passed the rock pier, I could see giant rocks under the water and that freaked me out. But as I sat in that kayak and the water dripped off the oars, it was very peaceful. We didn't get to go today as the weather was gloomy and sad but we plan on going again tomorrow.

I hope the weather is good.
It's been a good long weekend. I plan on making muffins tonight, and finishing up that cross-stitch. Not sure what Tyler's plan is. Kitty will likely sleep and run around. It should be a good night.

Sea Adventures

Today was a great start to our long weekend. We woke up and Sonja made us some pancakes for breakfast, starting off the weekend on a high note. We have had pancakes a lot in the last week. I think this was breakfast number five of pancakes. We are almost out of the syrup that we bought when we got here last Thursday. After breakfast we cleared the table and got ready for Sonja's first kayaking experience. It was a gorgeous day already by 10, clear and sunny. We went to the hospital to get the paddles, life jackets and water skirts to keep us dry. We then went down to the water and got the kayaks. I gave Sonja a crash course in kayaking from what I remembered from grade 12 gym. How to get out of the kayak if she flipped, how to sit to stay steady and how to paddle yourself. She got in the kayak and was a little bit scared. I pushed her just into the water so she could get the feel for what it was like. She practiced paddling a bit on the spot before I let go of her and pushed her completely into the water. She had to keep telling herself that it was just a lake that she was on, which is reasonable because it doesn't seem like the ocean here. You can see more land around here than you can at most respectable lakes. After Sonja was in the water she paddled around between the piers to get the hang of things while I got ready in my kayak. I took some pictures of her paddling around and then joined her on the water. We went through a rescue situation just in case. Told her and demonstrated how to unsubmerge a flipped kayak. We paddled around the pier a little bit until Sonja got enough confidence to go beyond that. She finally did and we started paddling south along the island so she would feel safe and where I am sure that it is to shallow for whales to be swimming in. That is the last thing I needed today is a humpback getting curious and popping his head beside her. Not on her first day of ocean kayaking anyway. So we continued along the shore getting farther and farther away from the town and the island. We went south to the ferry terminal and sat there floating for a while on the current. when we got there Sonja spotted a head bobbing looking at us. I looked and it was a seal swimming there watching us. We tried to get the camera out to get a picture of him but he went under. After 10 minutes sitting there we decided to head back and take it easy for the rest of the day. We started heading back and the seal showed up again. However I was still to slow to get a picture of him.

We came back to town and made some lunch. I had leftover soup from last night and Sonja had a piece of toast and jam. As we were eating Sonja thought she spotted something whale-like across the bay towards Shearwater. I looked and saw a whale spouting. We stood on the deck and watched for him to resurface, camera ready fully zoomed in, hoping to get a picture of him. The ferry went by while we were watching for him and he eventually dove under, flashing us his tail and that was the last we sa
w. After lunch I played some Wii and Sonja cross stitched some more. Then watched some hockey highlights from Montreal's whipping by Philly. Supper came and Sonja made us a chicken and noodle salad. It was really good, but like all salads not quite filling for me. After cleaning up and doing dishes I looked out the window, which it seems I do a lot of, and saw another whale spouting and swimming. This time just a little farther out than where we were kayaking. I tried more pictures, but he was a little far away. I can tell there is a whale in them, but then again I took the pictures.

As of now Sonja is playing Wii and we are planning to watch Invictus and eat a large bowl of popcorn.

The rest of our weekend we are going to try to do some more kayaking as the weather is supposed to hold up and stay sunny. My supervisor was telling me of some cool spot to kayak to so maybe we will try to get there and see some new things.

We are also glad that you all are reading and enjoying our blog.

Tyler

Sorry I am trying to add pictures to this post but being a Saturday night everyone in town is on the internet and slowing it down. I will post it as is and try to add pictures tonight overnight.

Long weekend in Bella Bella

I'm having a hard time starting this blog off. You know when you start to write something but then it's not flowing as well as you want it to...that's why I'm starting this blog off like this. I tried to write something clever and something that will keep people coming back, but it's not flowing that well. So I will just jump into this one. I do warn you now that not much happened today.

The day started out as per usual with Kitty waking us up at about 5. I pretended to be asleep and Tyler doesn't appreciate Kitty kisses that early, so he threw her out of the room. Then she was scratching at the door, which is more annoying then when Kitty is in the room. I got up and let her in, acting as a barricade so she wouldn't wake Tyler up.

We finally got up, showered and ate Cheerios for breakfast. Then hi-ho hi-ho, it's off to work we went.
My day didn't have anything exciting happen what so ever. Seriously, there is nothing to say about my job because I can't remember any of thing that happened today. I called some people, typed some stuff, scanned some stuff. I drank a lot of ice tea. The girl who is training me, has a "makes 36 L" tub of ice tea crystals...it's so tasty. I also ate some cheese and crackers. One great thing about where I work is there is a constant supply of pop in the fridge, chips, cheese and crackers on the counter. I pretty much don't have to buy food for myself. It's pretty sweet.
Any way, since its the friday of the long weekend, we left work early, 10 minutes early, which is actually super awesome when you just want to get home already. Tyler had been home for about an hour when I got home and had started making supper. Today we had something called cheeseburger soup. It was really good. Meat, carrots, celery, cheese, milk and some other foods and it turned out to be really great.

As we were cleaning up, we saw a few eagles flying around, so we went outside and there were more then a few up there. I counted 22. Pretty cool!!! We attempted to get pictures but the birds pretty much look like blobs so you really can't tell that they're eagles but the idea is there.

Then we went for a walk. There was another eagle sitting on top of a lamp post so we walked over to him and were standing right under him. We then walked down the beach. We played a few games along the way which was fun. We started skipping rocks across the water, counting the skips. We tied with 4 skips each. The funny thing is that the only rocks that would skip were the big bulky strange shaped ones. I also decided to start a small business. I want to start selling rocks that people can put in the bottom of their aquarium. There are perfect sized rocks for that. I will let you know how that pans out. I also was hitting rocks into the sea, baseball style. Then I started smashing clam shells. It's pretty satisfying smashing things. Of course I made sure there wasn't anything living in the ones I smashed.

Now we are at home again. It's pretty warm outside. The weather today was beautiful and I think it will keep up all weekend. Unfortunately that means I have to go kayaking tomorrow. I am excited to try it, and to possibly conquer my fears of oceans, but it give me nightmares. Some times I can't sleep at night.

Kitty is still doing fine. She was going crazy about half an hour ago and I would chase her, she would run under the bed and then chase me back. She has calmed down since then and is now enjoying the view, as are we.

We could see the main land today. It's amazing when the sun hits the tops of the mountain, the beauty that that is makes me so glad to be out here.

Tyler just finished the laundry and the clothes are literally the temperature of the sun. He also pulled a lint ball out that would make Kitty jealous.

Tonights plans look something like this: Tyler is folding laundry as I am typing this out. Probably make a big bowl of popcorn again because we are both hungry already. Might watch a movie although our selection kind of sucks. Cross-stitching of course.

One more exciting piece of news before I go help Ty with the clothes: we finally got real internet. We don't have to use Tyler's phone any more to communicate with the world. We can post pictures, I can respond in a more reasonable time period to emails...life will be easier.

Have a good long weekend.
Pray for our kayaking trip.

So much paper

Today started pretty funny then got increasingly boring.

I didn't sleep very well last night thanks to a little hairball named kitty. She woke me up at around 5 as she tried to get her koosh ball out from under the night table.  I helped her but then she wanted to cuddle. She wrapped herself around my arm and there we lay. She walked over to Tyler, who was in a deep sleep and gave him a big kiss on the nose. He woke up and yelled, "gross!". It was amusing.

We got up and I made French toast. It was so good.  The morning ocean was calm and it looked like it was going to be a nice day.  I had promised Tyler I would kayak with him this evening if the weather was good.
Tyler went to work and I crossstitched for about half an hour. I really enjoy that sport and although I'm not perfect at it, I can hide my mistakes like a pro.

I then went to work. The morning went pretty ok. Nothing happened. At 10ish, I started to organize forms from the past 3 months into alphabetical order. There were probably a million forms. It sure seemed like it. Such a stupid job that was. Especially because in one month I get to shred each of those documents. It actually is useless to organize these forms. So useless that it hurts my head. The reason for the organization is so that if the dr needs to see the original form, they can just look in the file and there you go. My question is "Why wouldn't you just put them in order in the first place?". It doesn't make any sense to me that if you know it has to be in order, why wait till one month away from the shred date to organize it? What good is that??  I'm just rantng now because my brain is fried. I organized from 10-5. That's a long time to be seeing the names of "Humchitt", "Lawson" and a few others.

Any way, it started raining so unfortunatly we didn't get to go out kayaking. I'm not actually sad and the thought of going scares me. I want to go and I know I will (as I have promised Tyler I would this weekend).

We just finished cleaning up from din din. Tyler got home from work before me so I arrived to see Tyler making burgers with candles lite on the table. They were good burgers but we already are ready for popcorn. We have popcorn spice that we put on very time (and since we've had popcorn every day since being here), the inside of my mouth is peeling. It kept me busy during the day.

Right now, kitty is sleeping on the couch, breathing really heavy, but always looking cute. Tyler is relaxing after doing little work all day (since this rock is so small, not a lot of people come in).  He's playing Wii again. He tried to beat my ping pong score of 286, but couldn't. I'm like Forrest Gump really.

I'm about to crossstitch some more. I do love it. Any one know where I can order more patterns from???

Water fun

Well another day passed and another entry into our blog. Sonja and I both woke up this morning and had some cereal for breakfast before heading off to work Sonja at 8:30 and myself at 9. I went to work and learned more about the computer system and more of how things are done out here. I learnt of a potlash that is done over the summer half hour from here so we will try to get there when it happens. It would be cool to see. After lunch the rest of the kinda dragged on for me, I x-rayed 1 person. After work Sonja and I came home and I decided to take a kayak out. So I got ready and we went to get the kayak and gear. I hopped in and paddled around the bay to get the hang of it again before going to far. Sonja just stayed on the pier because she is scared again after seeing the whale yesterday. But she said she will give it a try on Saturday, so we'll see if she follows through on that. I hope she does. It will be fun to explore the coast of the island. If
we stay close maybe she'll forget it's the ocean we're paddling on. It will be fun though. Sonja took some pictures of me so we'll put those on as soon as the Internet is up. That is all for now. Just relaxing on the agenda for tonight.

Every body here gets humpback whales!!!!!!

So it's not every day that you look out your back window and you see a
humpback whale sailing by. As freaked out as I am about the thought of
being close enough to see his pupil, it was super cool. Once I didn't
think about it, it was really cool. We went out onto the deck and
didn't see him again. That's when thoughts of terror and horror filled
my mind and I went back inside. So, sorry, we didn't get any pictures.
He wasn't that big either, so you wouldn't have been impressed (but
how many of you saw a whale at breakfast???)
Then I went to work. It's a silly place of officey duties that only
kind of make sense. I followed around a girl who is in charge of
scanning medical documents into the computer, doing the doctor
schedule, trouble shooting computer problems, and other such exciting
tasks like that. I am taking over for her for at least the summer.
That means that I will be helping doctors out when their computers
crap out which I think is funny because I know nothing about
computers. Anyway, I spent the morning sorting through a mountain of
paper into piles, scanning them into the computer and then putting
those files into electronic files. How exciting! The best is that
tomorrow I get to learn how to now put those papers into real files.
Not sure what else tomorrow brings but that was what I did today at
work.
When we got home, we started making dinner. The plan was for sloppy
joes, but we didn't have even half the ingredients so we made
spaghetti with garlic bread. It was homemade garlic bread. It was
gross. I made it out of melted butter and garlic powder. Not sure why
I thought that would taste good but it didn't. And now we both have
stinky garlic breath.
Tyler is currently playing Wii ping pong and I am about to start my
third and last crossstitching. Or I might show him who's boss at that
game.
Plans for tonigt include wii, crosstitching, probably some dancig with
the stars. I hope ochosinco goes home. He's no good.

A huge barge carrying tons of stuff went by a few minutes ago. Pretty
cool.

First day

So I started my first day of work today at 9 am. We woke up and had breakfast and got ready for work. Went to work and started my day. It started filling out paperwork. Lots and lots of paperwork. After the paperwork I got the tour and met most of the staff. I went and met the clinic staff and was talking to the doctor and she asked how we were settling in and such. So during the conversation it came up that they were looking for another staff member to work in the clinic office. So I told them that Sonja was looking for something to do for work while we are out here. I carried on with the tour and did some training in the lab. At lunch I came home and had lunch with Sonja. We had tacos that were left over from Saturday night. I told Sonja about the possible job that was at the clinic and she came back to the hospital with me and I directed her to the clinic an introduced to the staff there. They then went and had a talk and I went back to work. I was
sent to get our Internet sorted out instead of actually going to work. So the Internet is coming soon so we can post some pictures and stop posting these blog entries from my phone. Back at work though I was approached by the doctor I was talked to earlier and she thanked me for giving them the heads up on their new clerk. So yes Sonja got a job today and starts tomorrow at 8:30. Now her days won't be empty and kinda boring. At least for now. The rest of my day was kinda slow. I read manuals and did more first day stuff. It was really nice out today until I got off work. I was getting ready and was excited to do some kyaking after work, but it clouded up and started rainig as soon as I left the hospital. Maybe the weekend will be clear and we can spend a few hours practicing before we do any real trips ont the sea. For supper we had chicken burgers and now Sonja is cross stitching and waiting for dancing with the stars to come on. Ok that is all for
now. Oh ya I was also told about a opportunity to go along with a doctor to Ocean Falls to help him out for a day next month. So that will be exciting. Hopefully it's a plane ride out but in will probably just be by boat.

Saturday

Hey
So just a cool little update from Bella Bella. So as Sonja and I were just watching TV and I started to notice a lot of eagles flying in front of the deck so I ventured out hoping to catch so cool pictures of the locals flying around. I did. Then looking toward the north on the goverent pier we saw five eagles and then four others flying to the south. So we decided to take a walk to the pier and see how close we could get to these massive birds. We stood under a few as they looked down on us from the power poles. We continued onto the pier to see four eagles on the south beach and five to the north. Some startled and flew away but not before we got some pictures of them. We stood ad watched them for a while before coming back to the apartment. I then walked along the waterfront towards an eagle on the end of the rock pier. Coming back there was a tree with four eagles sitting on it. So my thinking is that Bella is Heiltsuk for eagle because there sure
are alot of them. Anyway that's all for now.

Day 3

First of all, let me appoloyize for having no pictures up yet. We are such teases, aren't we. The reason is that we have no Internet yet and likely can't get it until we know what our address is. That brings me to my second appology. We will send you all our address when we know what it is. All we know is that we live in apartment #2.

So, it's Saturday. Weather is cloudy but warmish. We woke up and Tyler made buttermilk pancakes. Of course we don't have buttermilk, so Tyler made them out of skim milk. They were very thick pancakes but they were very tastey.

We then laid on the couch because we were still tired. There was an eagle sitting on the makeshift pier just chilling. He was massive but didn't have the white head. He sat there for probably 3 hours. After we cleaned up after breakfast we went down and tippy toed our way closer and closer to this massive bird. I didn't want him to fly away so we stopped. Tyler took a few pictures of him, one where I'm holding my hand up and it looks like the bird is sitting on it. We are pretty clever. As he was taking pictures, there was a couple of fish jumping out of the water right beside where this eagle was sitting. Pretty brave fish, I'd say. Braver then me that's for sure.

Then we took a walk around our new town. Oh the sites we saw. Lots of eagles (which you are likely sick of hearing about already) soaring high in the sky and sitting on the cell phone tower. We saw the cultural center that looks like an eagle (sorry). We saw where most of the police officers live. It wasn't difficult to figure out, what with the nicer looking homes, cut grass and RCMP vehicles parked outside. Must all be off for the weekend.
We also saw a red/brown dog that followed us for a while, lots of little kids and a burnt out old home.
After we got home from our eventful walk, I cut tylers hair and showered. Then we made out the menu for this week. Deerburgers, sloppy joes, chicken, pasta and somethig else.

You might be wondering what there is to do on a Friday night around here. Well, there isn't an abundance of entertainment so we ended up watching the rest of season 5 of the Office. It turns out we only had one more episode. I finished up my crossstitch project and it actually looks like it is supposed to. We then watched a freaky 20/20 show about a child killer. Of course right at the scary part, kitty jumped up on the couch and gave me a heartattack. Then we went to bed.

Tonight looks like this. Tyler is playing Wii. He justfinished a game where he has to return 10 baby ducks to their mother. It took him 12 minutes to do and he got a Wii stamp for it. I am going to crossstitch some more. We are having deer tacos for din din and likely watching Inside Man tonight. I will likely challenge Ty to a game of Wii ping pong and soundly beat him. He doesn't know this yet. Kitty will sleep and eat.

Day 3 has been preety good and it feels like it should be closer to night then it is. 3:05 pm.

It's been a good day.

The trip and Bella Bella so far

So here we are, settled in and all unpacked. What a long trip. 14 hours of driving along highway 1 on Tuesday followed by an evening with friends in Vancouver. The drive was good. It was a Tuesday so there wasn't very much traffic. The cat settled down around Red Deer so we only had to deal with 2 hours of her really meowing. Lots of construction along the way. It seemed like after Banff we hit some every 20kms but since there wasn't much traffic it all went pretty smoothly. Saw 5 mule deer in Banff, a black bear after Revelstoke and a large rodent possibly a woodchuck or groundhog I'm not sure open for suggestions of what it was. But whatever it was he was outside of Kamloops. The car didn't really enjoy being so loaded and driving the Cocahula. We got into Langley at 7 and meet up with our friends and went to their place for the night. Up at 4 on Wednesday to catch the ferry to Nanimo. 2 hours later arrive in Nanimo and get some Timmies for breakfast
before we drive up the island to Port Hardy. 4 1/2 hours later we arrive in Port Hardy to wait for another ferry to bring us to our new home. We got on the ferry, made sure the cat had food and water and was comfortable and went up to the main deck. We left Port Hardy at 5:30 and sailed along. Waited and waited to finally pull into Bella Bella shortly after midnight to drive off and find our apartment and finally get some sleep.

The next day was spent unpacking and setting up shop, interuppted by a helicopter landing 100' from the deck and eagles. Lots and lots of eagles. Sonja made some supper after we went to the grocery store. That was an expensive little trip. Try to stock up our place and get food to eat. $15.00 for a block of cheese. But our only real expense is food so it will be alright. After supper we spent the evening relaxing on the couch, made some popcorn and watched some TV before going to bed.

This morning we woke up and had some french toast for breakfast. After while we were cleaning up I looked outside and saw a Holland America cruise ship sailing right past. This place is very surprising. I wouldn't have expected to see that here. Spent more of the day unpacking and cleaning up the place, unpacking clothes and cleaning he living room. Stopped for lunch and made some deer tenderloin for supper. Now I have finally figured out how to set up this blog and am typing this now.
